CERTA L2 DEVELOPING STUDY SKILLS
TASK 1 - RESEARCH
2.4
TASK 1 – RESEARCH – WEB SOURCE
ARTISTS PRESENTED: ANDY WARHOL AND KEITH HARING
• Pop art is often associated with its uses of color and can often be presented in a cartoon comic book
style.
• On the top right there is a piece of art by Keith haring which was title the labyrinth which was made in
the year 1989. This is based on Greek mythology but can also be presented for the period that it came
out where its representing the street and how dangerous they are because you can get lost in them.
• Keith haring art was in a similar fashion to Warhol's with him representing a lot of color but his was
more technical, having many different structures. His art was a lot of the time a kot less colorful that
Warhol's and wasn’t the main focus of his artwork.
• The three coke bottles idea was made by Andy Warhol in the year 1962, which can be presented on
the bottom right. He was still known as establishing artist, and was considered the founding art for
the pop art movement. Because of this Warhol was in cooperation with coca cola and was a big name
for them.
• Warhol made art for the everyday person and is art that anyone can relate to as it has a level of
minimalism to it.

Quote: “Everyone needs a fantasy.” – Andy Warhol
My opinion: I think that this is a good quote and matches well with the style that Andy Warhol wants to project from most of his artwork. I
that there is a level of escapism as its not presented in the most realistic form. With their being multiple images being presented and
mismatching colors that should work with reality.
TASK 1 – RESEARCH – WEB SOURCE
ARTISTS PRESENTED: ANDY WARHOL AND PAULINE BOTY
2.2
2.3
Title/Weblink/Date accessed:
• https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/boty-the-only-blonde-in-the-world-t07496
• On the top right the paining is called the only blonde in the world which
was created by Pauline Boty in the year 1963. This painting here is of
Marilyn Monroe and Pauline was a bit vain, with her giving the general
public a different view which was her opinion.
• In the painting she had portrayed has being squished between the fields of
abstract form.
• The sixteen Jackies that is presented on the right was created in 1964 by
Andy Warhol. This meaning behind the art is the repetition of news
coverage and even though some of the photographs are different and have
different tints of colors they are all based on the same person, which is a
good message about the general public.
Quote: “The more you look at the same exact thing, the more the meaning goes away and the
better and emptier you feel.” – Andy Warhol, 1975
My opinion: I don’t agree with this statement that Andy Warhol is making as I have a different
outlook on life, as I don’t think that the repetition of staring at the same thing is healthy especially
when you yourself is sick of it.
TASK 1 – RESEARCH – BOOK SOURCE
ARTIST PRESENTED: ANDY WARHOL AND ROY LICHTENSTEIN
• Andy Warhol did collages in a similar sense to the sixteen Jackies
in the last slide, but this photo of Brooke Hayward on the top right
was the most common theme that he presented whenever he did.
• Andy Warhol was more known for bright and vibrating tertiary
colours which he exhibited on not just celebrities and models, but
on props or anything random that came to his brain, which could
be useful for a product say for advertisement.
• Roy Lichtenstein created this poster on the bottom right which
was titled WHAMM! In the year 1963. Roy conceived the art strip
from several other comics and developed it to be his own.
• For his inspiration Roy studied an artists before and after he
studied in the United States Army and see how badly it affected
him.

Quote: “Andy conceived portraits as idealized versions of his sitters.” – Brooke Hayward on Andy Warhol,
1973
My opinion: I agree with this quote because it really shows with the way he adds colour to the images. He’s
trying to stylise the person in the image as much as possible.
TASK 1 – RESEARCH – BOOK SOURCE
ARTISTS PRESENTED: ANDY WARHOL AND KEITH HARING
2.2
2.3
Book title/Author + Library Location:
Warhol by David Bourdon/Book code: 759 13 war
• This painting called flowers was created by Andy Warhol in the year
1970. The meaning behind this flowers is base on the juxtaposition
tragedy and celebration in which they both used in.
• This picture is quite innocent and childlike which is a good use of art
because most of his work is very serious. Warhol had made many of
these but they were done a different shading and had kept going
back to it to see which colors worked best with what he was trying to
present.
• This piece of pop art on the bottom right is called pop shop 3 which
was made by Keith Haring in the year 1989. This artwork is known
for its typical use of primary colors. The figures that he has created a
simplified and can easily be recognized as one of his.
• This artwork is just one of three that he created in the set.
Quote: “Children know something that most people have forgotten.” – Keith haring, 1989
My opinion: I agree with this statement that Haring has made because when you do learn stuff you also forget stuff because your brain
capacity hasn't taken in so much. Also to have a childlike view of life you need a very vivid imagination.
How I made it?
For this is I started off by selecting a landscape size and changing
the background to transparent. I then selected the image from
the film off the internet, and copied and pasted it from the
internet into a new layer. The next thing I did was select the
magic wand tool and cut the background as it is the quickest
way to get rid of the background. Then I used the eraser tool,
zoomed in, turned down the size of the rubber, and rubbed out
any mark that had been left over. I then went on filter and went
on filter gallery. When this was on, I selected film grain, while
turning down the edge capacity and turned up the levels. The
next thing I did was paste an image of British flag and pasted it
onto a new layer that I have selected. I then put the layer that
had the flag underneath the photo and all the filters. I then got a
a dotted comic strip wallpaper of the internet and put it into a
new layer. The next thing I did was put that layer that had the
comic dots on in between the promo picture and the map. I
then just duplicated the layer of dotted comic book wallpaper,
put it above the promo image and then turned it onto multiply. I
then turned down the opacity because I thought it just worked
better with a more faded image. Lastly, I imported the image
and added to my documents.
Title: For Britain!
TASK 2A – IDEA GENERATION [INDIVIDUAL]
List of things need to included for it to be considered as pop art
• Contrasting light colors that don’t match with the object that its on.
• Collages of recycling the same image but in different colors.
• Using fame and celebrity, presenting them in a stylish way.
• Using simple models or props that have know relevance but do do well with
advertisement for that product.
• Using iconic film images or character and changing it up slightly like changing the face of
the character.
• Character or objects are enlarged to look abnormal
• Repetitive images to illustrate the message that you want to portray.
• Have the dotted comic book style image over layered the image on Photoshop to
created that comic book style.
• Creating a meaning that is deep and suggest that there is a issue with a simple product.
TASK 2A – IDEA GENERATION [GROUP]
Images of films that work well with Pop Art
TASK 2B – ACTION PLAN/SCHEDULE
Session Activity Who is responsible
1 Finding an appropriate main image. George/Luke/James
2 Finding background images. George/Luke/James
3 Giving image cartoonish features. James
4 Adding different colours and textures. Luke/George
5 Adding text to the image. Luke/George
6 Refining the image George/James
7 Adding textures/features to the text. Luke
3.1
TASK 2B – ACTION PLAN/SCHEDULE
3.1
• With our third activity we as a group have decided that it would be best that Luke gives the cartoonish
feature to the clown as he can do a better job of it on Photoshop. From what he has showed us and the
skills he has promised to show when making the poster with us.
• Another thing that we have changed was the image of the clown as we thought that the original image
that we’ve picked didn’t work so well with the spiral background that we have picked out.
• We also have run through a few names for the poster with it starting of with a simple “hello!” and it’s
evolved slightly into more words with a onomatopoeia meaning so “zoom”, “boom” or “crash”. Just
short snappy words that are referenced mostly in comic books.
• Eventually we just settled with adding the name so it gave a hint of who the character is that we are
trying to present.
• Also originally the spiral background was going to be turquoise as that the color we selected of Google
images, but we decided not to because we think its gong to be too light for such a dark character and
we need a much more darker color to represent him.
TASK 2C – PLANNING
3.2
The first thing I did was open Adobe Photoshop setting
the to 128 width and 720 as the height. I set it on a
transparent background and placed the image of the
clown on a new layer. We then used the magic wand tool
and selected around the right side of the clown because
that's where we didn’t want that part of the image. We
then turned down the opacity of the clown down a little
to give it that faded edge and changed the saturation of
the image to a more yellow tone as it gave it a more
creepy aspect.
TASK 2C – PLANNING
3.2
We then added the spiral wallpaper in the background that we
found from Google images and changed the colors with the
Hue/Saturation to a darker red as opposed to turquoise as we felt
that it suited the color of the clown a lot more. The next thing we
did was add the comic strip dots and duplicated the layer. The first
layer of dots we put on the wallpaper background and turned the
opacity down. We then did the same thing for the dots that were
on the clown by turning down the opacity and putting that layer
over the clown. We changed the color gradient of the dots and
then inverted the layer so that they appeared behind the clown.
Then we added a grunge layer and put on the top layer. We
changed the exposure and the levels of that image as we felt that
it added a lot more of a darker edge the to the poster as a whole.
TASK 2C – PLANNING
3.2
The last thing we did was was add in the
horizontal type tool and gave it the title that we
wanted to call it, which was “Art the clown!”. We
made the logo a 3D object by selecting 3D under
filter and rotated the titled so that it was facing a
diagonal way. We changed the color of the inside
of the lettering to a bright orange as we though it
fitted well with the character. The last thing we did
was go onto file and clicked under export, where
we exported it as a PNG into one of our
documents.
TASK 4 – PRODUCTION/FINAL PRODUCTS

3.2
3.4
TASK 5 – EVALUATION – PROBLEM SOLVING
• Describe three problems you faced in your project and how you solved these
• 1.) A problem that occurred when in production of the poster was when placed the dotted comic strip wallpaper
on to the poster. We changed the opacity and added a grungy layer. But it still didn’t seem right as the clown
looked like it was covered in them and it didn't look so scary but the wallpaper at the back had barely any. So we
duplicated the layer that had the comic dots and turned the opacity down even further when we
• 2.) We also had another problem with is figuring out whether we should have kept the spiral wallpaper fully on
both sides of the clown. But we came up with decision as a group to not keep as we figured that the colour of
clown blended well with it being just a white wallpaper and to have the stripy wallpaper on the other side works
well with it being a complete contrast.
• 3.) Another problem that we came across from working on this project was finding a decent name for the poster
with finding about basic quotations or greeting like “hello” or “goodbye”. Then we thought about words with a
onomatopoeia sound like “boom” or “crash”. But in the end we just settled with the name of group because we
though it looked well and that people who look at the poster will know what the clown is called.
3.3
TASK 5 – EVALUATION – WORKING WITH OTHERS
• Choose three aspects of your production where you worked well with your team and this benefited the
project
• 1. The main thing that we worked well on was our decisions on horror and what it was we were going to do
for our poster. All three of us decided that the clown in the poster would be an excellent idea and would be
the scariest thing to do.
• 2. Another benefit we had made by working as a team was that we all knew how to work on Adobe
Photoshop because this is our second year here and one person from our group has been on photoshop for
five years. We all set each other jobs to do, so our communication is good and we all had something to work
on.
• 3. We had another benefit of we all agreed on the same things but we also would not shy away from someone
in our group to tell us when something isn’t right and we took that opinion with great though. For instance we
were originally going to have a turquoise spiral background but then James said that the background would
have worked better with a much darker colour which we agreed on and changed it to a more burgundy colour.
1.2b
TASK 5 – EVALUATION - FEEDBACK
• Discuss the feedback you received from your tutor during the project and how you used this to
improve the project
3.5
The feedback that Scott gave us was that he thought it would be a good idea to give the poster a
title and spend some time on the design of it as it was important to the finished piece of it. He
also commented that we should make the image darker to make it look less light-hearted as that
gave us the idea to turn the saturation of the whole thing down and add a grungy layer to give it
more of a horror aspect.
TASK 5 – EVALUATION – ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT
• Define active engagement in your studies and briefly explain how you used
it in this project
1.2a
Active engagement is when you are given another flexibility to do what you want. In this case
we were given enough flexibility to do what we wanted in the order of picking an art
movement out of the three choices that were given to us. We were given enough active
engagement to research whatever artist we wanted to just so long as the artist was related to
the style of art that we picked. We were also given enough active engagement to type out
what we wanted and put in the points that we thought we most valuable.
TASK 5 – EVALUATION
ACCESSING AND STORING INFORMATION
• Explain where the books/resources are for your area in the LC
• The books/resources for media/art are located in the library on the second floor.
• Explain how to take a book/resource out of the LC
• In order to take a book out you must have your ID badge and ask one of the librarians if its alright to
borrow. Then they will stamp inside the book the day that it has to be returned for when you’ve
finished it but you can take it back any day before the date it has to be back.
2.1
TASK 5 – EVALUATION
ACCESSING AND STORING INFORMATION
Explain where to store electronic information on the college network
• You can store electronic information through File way where you can find on the intranet and then you
click on student options. Once you’ve found it under student user that when you login in and then you
can store any documents from you're computer into there. By doing this you will able to access this
documents through any computer.
• Another way to store electronic information onto the college network is by emailing it to yourself
through your student email account.
Explain where you upload work when it is completed
• When work it completed the first thing we do is email to our lecture but the most important thing we
do is upload to our blogger accounts because that's where the examiners will be viewing it at the end of
the year.
2.1
TASK 6 - HOW DO YOU LEARN BEST?
• Explain some of the ways you think you learn best [refer to the VAK questionnaire results in
tutorial]:
• One way that I learn best is by reciting information that I need to remember until it stays fixed in my
brain. This is a common way for anybody to use but it think its what works best for me.
• Another way that I learn best is to ask questions in class as it gives more of insight onto what I don’t
understand. Everybody understands thing differently and the person who's just answered you a
question might ask a question that you'll know.
• Making notes in class is also another way that I learn best in class because I'll look back on it later and
be able to remember what it was my lecturer was talking about.
• Creating drawings and diagrams are also another way that I learn best. That why I think storyboards are
so important because there giving you a rough insight of what you want for your short film/trailer.
1.1
TASK 6 - HOW DO YOU LEARN BEST?
• What makes it hard for you to study?
• The number one thing that makes it hard for me to study is any distractions that interrupt what I'm going over.
This could literally be anything but I have to be in the zone and have full attention to what I'm learning in
order to gain information back.
• Another thing that make it hard for me to study is almost the opposite of what I just said. Listening to music is
something that helps me work more, as I get less zoned out on whatever I’m doing and it puts me back in
track.
• I also find it difficult to study when it’s a timed task as it puts me under pressure and my mind ends up going
everywhere making it more difficult to completer tasks
• What strategies do you think would benefit your studies?
• One strategy that will benefit my studies is to make my own independent notes because even though I write
out a lot of what the lectures is saying. There might be some of it that I don’t understand and I wont have my
lecturer there to help me during my independent study. So that why I think its important that you put stuff
down in your own words if have to and especially if you don’t understand it.
• Another strategy that I think would benefit my studies a lot more Is to participate in classroom discussions, as
there might be questions that I need answering and someone else could also relate to me with something else
that they are confused about.

Cmp induction project 2019 student fom

  • 1. INDUCTION PROJECT SEPTEMBER 2019 GEORGE WETTON CERTA L2 DEVELOPING STUDY SKILLS
  • 2. TASK 1 - RESEARCH 2.4
  • 3. TASK 1 – RESEARCH – WEB SOURCE ARTISTS PRESENTED: ANDY WARHOL AND KEITH HARING • Pop art is often associated with its uses of color and can often be presented in a cartoon comic book style. • On the top right there is a piece of art by Keith haring which was title the labyrinth which was made in the year 1989. This is based on Greek mythology but can also be presented for the period that it came out where its representing the street and how dangerous they are because you can get lost in them. • Keith haring art was in a similar fashion to Warhol's with him representing a lot of color but his was more technical, having many different structures. His art was a lot of the time a kot less colorful that Warhol's and wasn’t the main focus of his artwork. • The three coke bottles idea was made by Andy Warhol in the year 1962, which can be presented on the bottom right. He was still known as establishing artist, and was considered the founding art for the pop art movement. Because of this Warhol was in cooperation with coca cola and was a big name for them. • Warhol made art for the everyday person and is art that anyone can relate to as it has a level of minimalism to it. Title/Weblink/Date accessed: • https://www.coca-colacompany.com/au/faqs/whats-the-history-behind-andy-warhols-coca-cola-bottle-painting.html • http://www.adbranch.com/andy-warhols-coca-cola-paintings/ 2.2 2.3 Quote: “Everyone needs a fantasy.” – Andy Warhol My opinion: I think that this is a good quote and matches well with the style that Andy Warhol wants to project from most of his artwork. I that there is a level of escapism as its not presented in the most realistic form. With their being multiple images being presented and mismatching colors that should work with reality.
  • 4. TASK 1 – RESEARCH – WEB SOURCE ARTISTS PRESENTED: ANDY WARHOL AND PAULINE BOTY 2.2 2.3 Title/Weblink/Date accessed: • http://maraahmed.com/wp/2011/04/21/sixteen-jackies-by-andy-warhol-1964/ • https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/boty-the-only-blonde-in-the-world-t07496 • On the top right the paining is called the only blonde in the world which was created by Pauline Boty in the year 1963. This painting here is of Marilyn Monroe and Pauline was a bit vain, with her giving the general public a different view which was her opinion. • In the painting she had portrayed has being squished between the fields of abstract form. • The sixteen Jackies that is presented on the right was created in 1964 by Andy Warhol. This meaning behind the art is the repetition of news coverage and even though some of the photographs are different and have different tints of colors they are all based on the same person, which is a good message about the general public. Quote: “The more you look at the same exact thing, the more the meaning goes away and the better and emptier you feel.” – Andy Warhol, 1975 My opinion: I don’t agree with this statement that Andy Warhol is making as I have a different outlook on life, as I don’t think that the repetition of staring at the same thing is healthy especially when you yourself is sick of it.
  • 5. TASK 1 – RESEARCH – BOOK SOURCE ARTIST PRESENTED: ANDY WARHOL AND ROY LICHTENSTEIN • Andy Warhol did collages in a similar sense to the sixteen Jackies in the last slide, but this photo of Brooke Hayward on the top right was the most common theme that he presented whenever he did. • Andy Warhol was more known for bright and vibrating tertiary colours which he exhibited on not just celebrities and models, but on props or anything random that came to his brain, which could be useful for a product say for advertisement. • Roy Lichtenstein created this poster on the bottom right which was titled WHAMM! In the year 1963. Roy conceived the art strip from several other comics and developed it to be his own. • For his inspiration Roy studied an artists before and after he studied in the United States Army and see how badly it affected him. Book title/Author + Library location: Warhol by David Bourdon/Book code: 759 13 war 2.2 2.3 Quote: “Andy conceived portraits as idealized versions of his sitters.” – Brooke Hayward on Andy Warhol, 1973 My opinion: I agree with this quote because it really shows with the way he adds colour to the images. He’s trying to stylise the person in the image as much as possible.
  • 6. TASK 1 – RESEARCH – BOOK SOURCE ARTISTS PRESENTED: ANDY WARHOL AND KEITH HARING 2.2 2.3 Book title/Author + Library Location: Warhol by David Bourdon/Book code: 759 13 war • This painting called flowers was created by Andy Warhol in the year 1970. The meaning behind this flowers is base on the juxtaposition tragedy and celebration in which they both used in. • This picture is quite innocent and childlike which is a good use of art because most of his work is very serious. Warhol had made many of these but they were done a different shading and had kept going back to it to see which colors worked best with what he was trying to present. • This piece of pop art on the bottom right is called pop shop 3 which was made by Keith Haring in the year 1989. This artwork is known for its typical use of primary colors. The figures that he has created a simplified and can easily be recognized as one of his. • This artwork is just one of three that he created in the set. Quote: “Children know something that most people have forgotten.” – Keith haring, 1989 My opinion: I agree with this statement that Haring has made because when you do learn stuff you also forget stuff because your brain capacity hasn't taken in so much. Also to have a childlike view of life you need a very vivid imagination.
  • 7. How I made it? For this is I started off by selecting a landscape size and changing the background to transparent. I then selected the image from the film off the internet, and copied and pasted it from the internet into a new layer. The next thing I did was select the magic wand tool and cut the background as it is the quickest way to get rid of the background. Then I used the eraser tool, zoomed in, turned down the size of the rubber, and rubbed out any mark that had been left over. I then went on filter and went on filter gallery. When this was on, I selected film grain, while turning down the edge capacity and turned up the levels. The next thing I did was paste an image of British flag and pasted it onto a new layer that I have selected. I then put the layer that had the flag underneath the photo and all the filters. I then got a a dotted comic strip wallpaper of the internet and put it into a new layer. The next thing I did was put that layer that had the comic dots on in between the promo picture and the map. I then just duplicated the layer of dotted comic book wallpaper, put it above the promo image and then turned it onto multiply. I then turned down the opacity because I thought it just worked better with a more faded image. Lastly, I imported the image and added to my documents. Title: For Britain!
  • 8. TASK 2A – IDEA GENERATION [INDIVIDUAL] List of things need to included for it to be considered as pop art • Contrasting light colors that don’t match with the object that its on. • Collages of recycling the same image but in different colors. • Using fame and celebrity, presenting them in a stylish way. • Using simple models or props that have know relevance but do do well with advertisement for that product. • Using iconic film images or character and changing it up slightly like changing the face of the character. • Character or objects are enlarged to look abnormal • Repetitive images to illustrate the message that you want to portray. • Have the dotted comic book style image over layered the image on Photoshop to created that comic book style. • Creating a meaning that is deep and suggest that there is a issue with a simple product.
  • 9. TASK 2A – IDEA GENERATION [GROUP] Images of films that work well with Pop Art
  • 10. TASK 2B – ACTION PLAN/SCHEDULE Session Activity Who is responsible 1 Finding an appropriate main image. George/Luke/James 2 Finding background images. George/Luke/James 3 Giving image cartoonish features. James 4 Adding different colours and textures. Luke/George 5 Adding text to the image. Luke/George 6 Refining the image George/James 7 Adding textures/features to the text. Luke 3.1
  • 11. TASK 2B – ACTION PLAN/SCHEDULE 3.1 • With our third activity we as a group have decided that it would be best that Luke gives the cartoonish feature to the clown as he can do a better job of it on Photoshop. From what he has showed us and the skills he has promised to show when making the poster with us. • Another thing that we have changed was the image of the clown as we thought that the original image that we’ve picked didn’t work so well with the spiral background that we have picked out. • We also have run through a few names for the poster with it starting of with a simple “hello!” and it’s evolved slightly into more words with a onomatopoeia meaning so “zoom”, “boom” or “crash”. Just short snappy words that are referenced mostly in comic books. • Eventually we just settled with adding the name so it gave a hint of who the character is that we are trying to present. • Also originally the spiral background was going to be turquoise as that the color we selected of Google images, but we decided not to because we think its gong to be too light for such a dark character and we need a much more darker color to represent him.
  • 12. TASK 2C – PLANNING 3.2 The first thing I did was open Adobe Photoshop setting the to 128 width and 720 as the height. I set it on a transparent background and placed the image of the clown on a new layer. We then used the magic wand tool and selected around the right side of the clown because that's where we didn’t want that part of the image. We then turned down the opacity of the clown down a little to give it that faded edge and changed the saturation of the image to a more yellow tone as it gave it a more creepy aspect.
  • 13. TASK 2C – PLANNING 3.2 We then added the spiral wallpaper in the background that we found from Google images and changed the colors with the Hue/Saturation to a darker red as opposed to turquoise as we felt that it suited the color of the clown a lot more. The next thing we did was add the comic strip dots and duplicated the layer. The first layer of dots we put on the wallpaper background and turned the opacity down. We then did the same thing for the dots that were on the clown by turning down the opacity and putting that layer over the clown. We changed the color gradient of the dots and then inverted the layer so that they appeared behind the clown. Then we added a grunge layer and put on the top layer. We changed the exposure and the levels of that image as we felt that it added a lot more of a darker edge the to the poster as a whole.
  • 14. TASK 2C – PLANNING 3.2 The last thing we did was was add in the horizontal type tool and gave it the title that we wanted to call it, which was “Art the clown!”. We made the logo a 3D object by selecting 3D under filter and rotated the titled so that it was facing a diagonal way. We changed the color of the inside of the lettering to a bright orange as we though it fitted well with the character. The last thing we did was go onto file and clicked under export, where we exported it as a PNG into one of our documents.
  • 15. TASK 4 – PRODUCTION/FINAL PRODUCTS • Blog link: https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=1805296039766741404#allposts 3.2 3.4
  • 16. TASK 5 – EVALUATION – PROBLEM SOLVING • Describe three problems you faced in your project and how you solved these • 1.) A problem that occurred when in production of the poster was when placed the dotted comic strip wallpaper on to the poster. We changed the opacity and added a grungy layer. But it still didn’t seem right as the clown looked like it was covered in them and it didn't look so scary but the wallpaper at the back had barely any. So we duplicated the layer that had the comic dots and turned the opacity down even further when we • 2.) We also had another problem with is figuring out whether we should have kept the spiral wallpaper fully on both sides of the clown. But we came up with decision as a group to not keep as we figured that the colour of clown blended well with it being just a white wallpaper and to have the stripy wallpaper on the other side works well with it being a complete contrast. • 3.) Another problem that we came across from working on this project was finding a decent name for the poster with finding about basic quotations or greeting like “hello” or “goodbye”. Then we thought about words with a onomatopoeia sound like “boom” or “crash”. But in the end we just settled with the name of group because we though it looked well and that people who look at the poster will know what the clown is called. 3.3
  • 17. TASK 5 – EVALUATION – WORKING WITH OTHERS • Choose three aspects of your production where you worked well with your team and this benefited the project • 1. The main thing that we worked well on was our decisions on horror and what it was we were going to do for our poster. All three of us decided that the clown in the poster would be an excellent idea and would be the scariest thing to do. • 2. Another benefit we had made by working as a team was that we all knew how to work on Adobe Photoshop because this is our second year here and one person from our group has been on photoshop for five years. We all set each other jobs to do, so our communication is good and we all had something to work on. • 3. We had another benefit of we all agreed on the same things but we also would not shy away from someone in our group to tell us when something isn’t right and we took that opinion with great though. For instance we were originally going to have a turquoise spiral background but then James said that the background would have worked better with a much darker colour which we agreed on and changed it to a more burgundy colour. 1.2b
  • 18. TASK 5 – EVALUATION - FEEDBACK • Discuss the feedback you received from your tutor during the project and how you used this to improve the project 3.5 The feedback that Scott gave us was that he thought it would be a good idea to give the poster a title and spend some time on the design of it as it was important to the finished piece of it. He also commented that we should make the image darker to make it look less light-hearted as that gave us the idea to turn the saturation of the whole thing down and add a grungy layer to give it more of a horror aspect.
  • 19. TASK 5 – EVALUATION – ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT • Define active engagement in your studies and briefly explain how you used it in this project 1.2a Active engagement is when you are given another flexibility to do what you want. In this case we were given enough flexibility to do what we wanted in the order of picking an art movement out of the three choices that were given to us. We were given enough active engagement to research whatever artist we wanted to just so long as the artist was related to the style of art that we picked. We were also given enough active engagement to type out what we wanted and put in the points that we thought we most valuable.
  • 20. TASK 5 – EVALUATION ACCESSING AND STORING INFORMATION • Explain where the books/resources are for your area in the LC • The books/resources for media/art are located in the library on the second floor. • Explain how to take a book/resource out of the LC • In order to take a book out you must have your ID badge and ask one of the librarians if its alright to borrow. Then they will stamp inside the book the day that it has to be returned for when you’ve finished it but you can take it back any day before the date it has to be back. 2.1
  • 21. TASK 5 – EVALUATION ACCESSING AND STORING INFORMATION Explain where to store electronic information on the college network • You can store electronic information through File way where you can find on the intranet and then you click on student options. Once you’ve found it under student user that when you login in and then you can store any documents from you're computer into there. By doing this you will able to access this documents through any computer. • Another way to store electronic information onto the college network is by emailing it to yourself through your student email account. Explain where you upload work when it is completed • When work it completed the first thing we do is email to our lecture but the most important thing we do is upload to our blogger accounts because that's where the examiners will be viewing it at the end of the year. 2.1
  • 22. TASK 6 - HOW DO YOU LEARN BEST? • Explain some of the ways you think you learn best [refer to the VAK questionnaire results in tutorial]: • One way that I learn best is by reciting information that I need to remember until it stays fixed in my brain. This is a common way for anybody to use but it think its what works best for me. • Another way that I learn best is to ask questions in class as it gives more of insight onto what I don’t understand. Everybody understands thing differently and the person who's just answered you a question might ask a question that you'll know. • Making notes in class is also another way that I learn best in class because I'll look back on it later and be able to remember what it was my lecturer was talking about. • Creating drawings and diagrams are also another way that I learn best. That why I think storyboards are so important because there giving you a rough insight of what you want for your short film/trailer. 1.1
  • 23. TASK 6 - HOW DO YOU LEARN BEST? • What makes it hard for you to study? • The number one thing that makes it hard for me to study is any distractions that interrupt what I'm going over. This could literally be anything but I have to be in the zone and have full attention to what I'm learning in order to gain information back. • Another thing that make it hard for me to study is almost the opposite of what I just said. Listening to music is something that helps me work more, as I get less zoned out on whatever I’m doing and it puts me back in track. • I also find it difficult to study when it’s a timed task as it puts me under pressure and my mind ends up going everywhere making it more difficult to completer tasks • What strategies do you think would benefit your studies? • One strategy that will benefit my studies is to make my own independent notes because even though I write out a lot of what the lectures is saying. There might be some of it that I don’t understand and I wont have my lecturer there to help me during my independent study. So that why I think its important that you put stuff down in your own words if have to and especially if you don’t understand it. • Another strategy that I think would benefit my studies a lot more Is to participate in classroom discussions, as there might be questions that I need answering and someone else could also relate to me with something else that they are confused about. 1.1
