3. SITUATION
• Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Länd is in the
north-east of Germany.
• The town of Güstrow is located 45 kilometers
south of Rostock. There are 5 lakes (Inselsee,
Sumpfsee, Parumer See, Grundloser See and
Gliner See (See = lake) and several forests
around Güstrow. It has about 30000
inhabitants. It’s 14 meters above sea level.
4. ROSTOCK
• Rostock is the capital city of Mecklenburg-
Vorpommern länd. The city is crossed by the
Warnow river.
• The seaside part of Rostock, Rostock-
Warnemünde, is about 16 km to the north of
the historic city centre. The west and the
southeast are the most densely populated parts
of town. The overseas port is to the east of
Rostock. Rostock stretches 21.6 kilometres
from the Baltic Sea to the south and 19.4 km
from east to west.
5. CLIMATE AND NATURE
• The minimum year average temperature is
5ºC and the maximum is 12ºC. It has an
Oceanic climate.
• There’s a natural park called “Natur und
Umweltpark Güstrow”. There you can find
bears, owls and wolves, 430 different
animals. Its has about 200 ha surface.
7. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
Geography
• The terrain is flat and wavy. It includes some of
the highest peaks of the Baltic country again so
that Helpter Mountains (179 m), Mount Ruhner
(176.6 m) and Mount Boehm (153.1 m). Others are
near the coast and in the Piekberg Rügen (161 m),
cooling (129.7 m) to the northwest of Rostock and
Golm (69.1 m) in Usedom. Pronounced have
Warnow river valleys, and Recknitz Tollense on,
and shorter sections Peene, and Trebel
Landgraben.
