2. Client And
Audience
The Client for my ad is Sunderland college
because of this I wanted top make it look
professional and able to be published onto
there website. It needed to look neat and clean
so it fit with the school values as well.
My audience was 16-18 year old students in
social grade E and D. Due to the age I wanted
to look fun as this would attract the younger
audience. Also I wanted to show off the variety
of opportunity and at 16-18 you look for a
pathway/ direction for your life to go in and I
wanted to show that college can take you
anywhere you want in life
3. My Inspiration
I like the diagonal split across the ad to show/tell different
information and give the ad some color to make it more
vibrant and it also makes the school look more energic
which would lead to more interest from students.
Also, the split allows me to include other opportunities at
the college this will show students everyone is welcome
here.
I will copy off the use of different size of text as many
students won't be bothered by the small print but the big
stand out text will intrigue students.
6. Why I Choose
The Pictures
I chose a mixture of pictures this was because I wanted to show off all
the different opportunities at the school, this shows to students looking
at the ad everyone has a place here.
The pictures of the ball and me at goals shows the great facilities at
the school and shows to people who love sport that they'd not have to
sacrifice this compared to other colleges or sixth form.
However I added a pic of a student to show that its not all about sport
and if you don’t enjoy it you don’t have to do it that’s why I used two
different models to show the different paths suited to the different
personalities people have.
For the picture of the ball I used a worms eye angle to be able to show
off the college in background but also to be able to focus on the main
object(the ball).
I used a mcu shot for the picture of the student so I could focus on his
happy expression to show students you'd be happy here but not too
close so I could show off his own style to show the lack of uniform and
ability to express yourself here unlike other schools.
9. Tools And
Techniques I Used
To create the diagonal image effect, I used
the draw shape tool and then enlarged it to
cover screen then color matched it to the
same as the logo.
To create the contact info section, I used the
draw shape tool then picked a lighter color to
contrast the dark blue then turned down the
opacity so it looked transparent so it didn’t
cover the full ad and could see the other
images
I also used the cutting tool to trim the
college logo, so it didn’t have a white
background, so it looked professional
To create the fade effect on the images I
copied a fade png from google the flipped it,
so it faded all one way, so it didn’t completely
stand out
To get these pictures I used the studio
available and also the facilities around the
college.
All shots were taken on the cannon camera .
11. Final Product I like my final product as I think it fits the client and
audience perfectly because I believe it has the perfect
balance of professionalism and fun/freedom
The colours used match the college colours and there
logo so this would be able to be posted on there
website or used as a leaflet they could hand out.
Due to the use sport pics and bright vibrant colours it
will attract the younger audience as I used there
interests in the ad to intrigue them into looking at the
college and maybe enrolling which is the aim for the
ad to get as many students to attend as possible and
by showing off interesting subjects it will have a better
chance of achieving my goal or aim
12. Final Product Feedback
After my product was creating I asked a group of people a number of questions
and asked them to rate it 1-5. The questions were: 1)How interesting was it?
2)How professional is it? 3)After seeing it what is the likely hood you would join?
Question 1 scored an average of 4.3/5 this showed me it was interesting but not
perfect so I would add in ore of variety of subjects next time to interest more
people and not just a certain group.
Question 2 scored an average of 4.8/5 this showed me it was very professional
so it would meet the clients need to next time I would re create the ad to a
degree to keep up with the level of professionalism.
Question 3 scored an average of 4.2/5 this showed I hit my aim of the ad to
attract students to the school however I could of done abetter job so next time I
will ad a variety of subjects which interest everyone.
13. Reflection Of Final Product
During the process of creating my ad I learnt a lot of valuable skills as it was my first
time using photoshop. I learnt how to import images, use fade png’s, change
opacity and even add text.
I also learnt how to research and client and structure the ad to meet there demands
and also to match with the audiences interests.
Next time I would experiment with different structures of the ad such as using
different backgrounds and shapes and maybe try to make it more abstract.
I think if I was to do it again I could improve the quality of images used as I have
gotten better using a camera during the making of this.
However I think I have made a professional ad which I would be able to re create
and use the skills I have learnt for many different companies and not just a college.
