Residential Construction type
Residential construction is the
business of building and selling
individual and multi-family
dwellings.
 The market fragments into single-
unit, manufactured, duplex, quad-
plex, and apartments and
condominiums.
Manufactured housing further
divides into mobile homes and pre-
built houses
Building Construction type
 Building Construction is the
process of adding structure to
real property.
 The vast majority of building
construction projects are small
renovations, such as addition of
a room, or renovation of a

Often, the owner of the
property acts as laborer,
paymaster, and design team for
the entire projec
Commercial Construction type
commercial construction projects are for the
building and selling of business structures such
as offices, retail centers, warehouses, and
industrial buildings.
commercial construction involves
building projects that can be leased or sold in the
private sector.
 These spaces can be anything from offices and
manufacturing plants to medical centers and
retail shopping centers.
 Each commercial construction project varies in
size and effort and is unique in its own way
Industrial Construction
 Industrial construction includes the
building of manufacturing plants,
refineries, etc.
 This type of construction requires
highly trained workers , so that
they can perform more than one
task at a time.
 The main reason behind this is
that industrial projects are often
very huge and implemented in large
scale methods.
Highway Construction
 Highway construction involves the
construction, alteration, or repair of
roads, highways, streets, alleys,
runways, paths, parking areas, etc.
 it includes all incidental construction
in conjunction with the highway
construction project
Infrastructure and Heavy Construction

more often than not include ventures
that are not appropriately named
either "building" or "roadway."
 Examples of this sort of venture would
be railways, communications, and
roads, water and sewer line ventures,
dams, sewage treatment plants and
offices, surge control ventures, digging
undertakings, and water treatment
plants and offices
 This type of construction usually done
due to the public interest and is often
executed by government agencies and
large private corporations..
Classification of Construction Projects
• Projects are categorized into four possible classes
• Class I (Megaprojects).
 Refers to projects that have budgets exceeding $100B and require planning and
execution over a very long term (more than three years).
 It includes government and national institutions have an enormous economic,
social, and ecological impact.
 i-e CPEC
• Class II (Large and Unique).
 The investment in this class of project involves more than $100M as well as
long-term planning and execution (more than two years).
 These projects can share many of the class I features but are unique, with
complicated management and implementation systems.
 Numerous contractors, specialists, and consultants are employed, and the most
advanced technologies are used.
Classification of Construction Projects
• Class III (complex).
 Requires middle-level planning and execution within a shorter time frame
(one to three years).
 These projects usually have budgets between $10M and $100M.
 A complex project is not unique, and the problems involved are not overly
complicated.
 Most industrial projects and many public works are categorized as complex.
• Class IV (basic and normal).
 An investment of up to $10M would be considered for this class of project.
 The projects are carried out with one year of planning or one budget period,
with the use of measurable targets.
 Projects such as housing, earthworks, buildings, and roads can be considered
class IV construction projects
