2. In our opening we used stereotypically good looking actors, which
then will hopefully attract our audience into watching the film
more.
We had one male and two females. As we did our opening from
the males perspective we could relate it to the male population
widening our target audience. Also if males knew the film was
from a males POV it would instantly attract them to watch the film.
The female actors are stereotypically girly girls who over
exaggerate when something goes wrong. This is almost like the
comedic side to the film as the female audience watching it will
find it funny how the actors react and can probably almost relate
to them.
We wanted to make our characters relatable as possible so we
did this by giving them real life events to act out in the montages.
3. Our opening is aimed at 15-21 year olds and may be older. We
did this by getting a teenage actor to act like he had just left
university so he was around 20 years old. I thought this was an
average age to use as most of our audience could relate to the
situation of trying hard for their dream job. The female actors are
also around the same age range as the main character,
attracting both male and females that age to the film. Because
they are the same age as the target audience it may inspire them
to be like Dave trying hard for work or put them off him because
he hasn’t been very fair with his relationships. Although our actor
is 20 years old it may attract people older as they could relate
themselves to them from their past experience.
4. Our music we have used is quite
quirky which relates to the genre
for our opening. The music kind of
fits in with the age range of our
audience and actors because it is
rather upbeat. Other films with the
same music genre as ours would
be Juno as they’re music is quirky
too.
5. The titles used in our opening are very plain and
simple. They are in a neutral colour attracting
both the male and female population. The titles
also fit in with the narrative of the male being a
journalist because they are typed onto the
screen, like he is typing them as he is on his
laptop at the start of the opening. The font we
used is rather formal and looks professional. It
almost looks like the font used in most
magazines as it isn’t too formal but it isn’t too
handwritten.
6. The costumes used in our opening are very simple. The male
is wearing his ‘work’ clothes, which is just his shirt unbuttoned
so he looks like he has just finished a long day at work and
his jeans which makes it look less formal. This attracts the
audience who have a higher demographics such as ABC1 as
they noticed he does office work.
The girls in the montage are both wearing clothes from
Topshop which we have mentioned as a shop our target
audience would go to. Also they are wearing different kinds of
clothes to reflect their personality. In the first montage the
female actor is wearing a dress but not too fancy which
shows she has made an effort for her date whereas the
female in montage 2 is wearing a jumper and leggings to
show she is more laid back and the typical kind of
teenager, however when she receives the text she opposes
to the laid back personality and exaggerates.
7. Our mise en scene in the first scene is just a bedroom corner we have turned
into an office, this shows the low budget we had as we didn’t have any other
rooms we could improvise with. This attracts the audience because of the
props used in the mise en scene, he uses a laptop and magazines which are
popular to the both female and male audience and it fits in with their age
range as they will be using laptops in their free time, school and university.
Montage 1 is filmed outside Mc Donalds this attracts our audience as
everybody loves Mc Donalds as it is a very popular restaurant to eat at. This
addresses both genders of the audience, which then attracts both of them to
watch.
Montage 2 is filmed in the girls bedroom, this will only attract the female side
of the audience as most teenagers can relate as they sit in their bedrooms
most of the day.
I think we did well attracting our target audience with the mise en scene.
