2. Cardiac Catheterization A thin tube catheter is passed through a blood vessel which leads to the heart This test is done to detect abnormalities, to collect cardiac blood samples, and to determine the intrinsic blood pressure of the heart One is usually awake during the procedure and given medications to help one relax There is a low risk for complication and there is a quick recovery time
4. Echocardiography This is a noninvasive diagnostic method which used an ultrasound to visualize internal cardiac structures It displays two dimensional slices of the heart, and the most advanced can display real-time 3D images It is done to asses cardiac valve activity , cardiac output, ejection fraction, and to see if their in any leakage from the valves
6. Stress Test This test is done to evaluate cardiovascular fitness during times of stress There are 2 different types of stress tests Nuclear stress test- inject a radiotracer into the patient which stimulates that they are exercising without them actually doing anything physical Treadmill test- patient is placed on treadmill and the subjected to steadily increasing levels of work An EKG and oxygen levels are taken during the test
