Watership Down Quotes
In the downs of a small farm, two rabbits are preparing to flee their warren in order to escape men come to kill them. Richard Adam's Watership
Down follows these two rabbits – Hazel and Fiver – as they gather a following and make their way across the farmland to safety. The band of
misfits looks to Hazel for guidance, and he leads them to their haven: a warren atop the hills where the rabbits are safe and sound. However, the
need to keep the warren going pushes the rabbits to continue exploring and find does in other warrens. While looking, they meet the Efrafa
warren. This warren is lead by General Woundwort, and immediately the two parties are at odds with one another. The most noticeable
difference is between the leaders of the two warrens: Hazel and General Woundwort. Both Hazel and General Woundwort are cunning; however,
the leaders use their wits in different ways. Hazel uses his wit for the betterment of his people, while General Woundwort uses his to control and
oppress his people. Some leaders are born into their position, others rise to the occasion, and a small few seize the position themselves – the
latter of the three describe both Hazel and General Woundwort. Their motivation is what separates them. Hazel takes charge of his warren to
protect them, while General Woundwort climbs up the ladder of power using any means available. In the beginning, Hazel's "warren" did not
have a leader. It was merely a band of misfit rabbits trying to leave their warren. Hazel proves himself a leader when the Owsla, or rabbit police,
come to arrest the rabbits that try to leave. After a fight breaks out, Hazel steps forward to protect his brothers, "Go,' said Hazel, firmly and
quietly, 'Or we'll kill you" (21). Hazel believes that if there is no way to get his people out safely, then they will have to go out fighting. The
instinct to protect and fight for his people is how Hazel becomes the leader of his warren. His brave actions make him becomes the Chief Rabbit
of his warren. Hazel did not seek leadership, he simply led. In contrast to this natural leadership, General Woundwort is more power–hungry and
ruthless. He is the tyrant of his warren Efrafa. The narrator tells the story of General Woundwort and how his

Questions (Do these BEFORE using the Gizmo.) 1. Suppose you had a pet rabbit. What would the rabbit need to stay alive and healthy? Pet
rabbits need food, fresh water, a clean living space, and shelter from the elements in order to stay alive and healthy. 2. A female rabbit can give
birth to over 40 baby rabbits a year. Suppose all of her offspring survived and reproduced, all of their offspring survived and reproduced, and so

Density–dependent limiting factors include predation, competition, and contagious diseases 2. Predict: How do you think the amount of land
available will affect the rabbit population? 3. Experiment: Use the Gizmo to find the carrying capacity with Ample, Moderate, and Little land.
List the carrying capacities below. Ample: 400 Moderate: 300 Little: 100 4. Analyze: How did the amount of space available to the rabbits affect
how many individuals the environment could support? As the amount of space decreased, so did the number of rabbits the environment could
support. 5. Infer: Why do you think limiting a population's space decreases the carrying capacity? As the amount of available land decreases,
vital resources such as food, water, and living space will decrease as well. 6. Challenge yourself: Other than space, what might be another
density–dependent limiting factor? Explain. A contagious disease would be a density–dependent limiting factor. Activity C: Density–
independent limiting factors Get the Gizmo ready: Click Reset. On the SIMULATION pane, select Ample for the amount of LAND available.
Introduction: Not all limiting factors are related to a population's density. Density–independent limiting factors affect a population regardless of
its size and density. Question: How do density–independent limiting factors affect how a population grows? 1. Think about it: What do you think

Personal Narrative-Princess Lucy Willows
I love nature. You wouldn't expect that from a princess–Princess Lucy Willows, that is. The only appealing thing to a girl like me is the fact that
insects and marine animals and such exist. The castle garden is pretty, but I want to see the actual forest! I have dreamt all my life to find
treasures and animals that mask inside nature. There is only one problem: my mom won't let me go. She says that there are bears, bees,
mosquitoes, poison ivies . . . the list goes on, but nothing will get in my way of searching! Plan A begins! After dinner, I go to start planning my
escape out to the wilderness. . . ."Aha!" Whoops! I hope Mum didn't hear that. Anyhow, my plan is to first pack a back pack with food, three
bottles of water, and rope. Next, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After climbing out, I run full speed, leaving the castle property and moving into the forest. It is getting dark, so I put up my tent, make a fire, and

my words. Grrr. . . . "Wait, what?" It is Alistair Burgundy the fourth. "I was scared to death because of you, Alistair!" "I know, I know, I know,
but it's much too dangerous out here, Lucy! Honest! I'm sorry!" "Whoa! What is that?" The animal is a glorious sight to see. "A fire fox!"
Alistair screams. He sounds so much like a girl, I burst with laughter. At the same time, I am so curious. "If only I could touch it–" "No! Lucy,
stop!" Ssss. . . . "My hand is burnt! Ow, ow, ow! I understand now." Sniff. "Ouch!" "Told you so." The pack with more fire foxes comes with a
sly look in their eyes. "Bye, bye, we're going now. . . ." I start wrapping up everything, then I blow out the fire. By this time, the fire foxes are
dying to eat me! "Hop on, Lucy, you'll need a ride sooner or later." Twinkle, Alistair's horse, races swiftly away from the forest and onto the

Personal Narrative: A Horse's Life
Once upon a time, there was a forest in which four best friends lived: a horse, a cow, a sheep, and a rabbit. They played with each other, lived
together, and ate together. They bonded with each other well. The horse was powerful and intelligent and the cow was wise and helpful. The
sheep was energetic and smart and the rabbit was small but active. The always helped each other if anybody had a dilemma. It was spring time.
New vegetation had grown. The rabbit yearned for the fresh carrots which grew by the river. One afternoon, as the rabbit took a few hops, the
horse asked, "Where are you going my friend?"
The rabbit replied, "I am going to eat the fresh carrots that erupted by the river."
After sometime, he found the carrots and started

My Favorite Books
I cannot remember a time in my life when I didn't love reading and writing. My favorite books during my early childhood mostly consisted of
Dr. Seuss books. I spent hours reading with my parents and on my own, we read a book before bed every night. When I was in Kindergarten I
wrote my first book, about bunny rabbits. I spent hours making two copies of my picture book about what I believed bunnies did. My older sister
became my first critic when she told me that my book was stupid and childish. I remember sobbing when a glass of water spilled on them and
smudged the marker I had used to create them. My mom managed to salvage the books and they're still in a box somewhere. After Dr. Seuss and
P.D Eastman; I graduated to "Junie B. Jones", "The Boxcar Children", and "Magic Tree House." I read nearly all of the books in those series,
with my favorite being "The Boxcar Children." At the suggestion of my older sister, I read Suzanne Collins' "Gregor the Overlander" series and
loved it. My sister and I fell in love with "Violet Rains Almost Got Struck by Lightning" and "Everything on a Waffle" around the time I was
going into middle school. I read those books about fifteen times each and can still describe "Violet Rains Almost Got Struck by Lightning"
perfectly. Around the same time, I read, "Out of my Mind" by Sharon M. Draper and was completely blown away. That book changed my
perspective on people with special needs and I'm now extremely active with the special

The Significance Of The Scene In John Steinbeck's Of Mice...
In the novel Of Mice and Men, the scene represented in the diorama is when Lennie just got finished having a vision about the giant rabbit
declaring that George is going to abandon him all alone and then scampered back into Lennie's brain as George is quietly approaching out of the
brush. I consider this scene that I created is significant to the novel because this is the scene to which Lennie passes away, caused by George.
Yes, the death of Curley's wife, due to Lennie's strength and nervousness, was something major that lead to the cause of the occurrence, but in
this scene, it is to which George's thoughts were accurately correct in taking out Carlson's Luger and handling it well. In this diorama it consists

Analysis Of Graduation Day By Maya Angelou
Forged by Pain In 1940, the United States approached the eightieth–year anniversary of the abolition of slavery; however, the social oppression
of African American citizens steadily increased. Despite being free for decades, they were still leagues below the white people who owned their
ancestors. African American author Maya Angelou recollects on her experience of graduation from the eighth grade in her 1940 piece
"Graduation Day." The narrative not only highlights the importance of the narrator's graduation, but also the expectations of Angelou's
community due to their persecution and separation. Perseverance through separation and persecution forges dignity in an individual. The
separation of the African American displays the importance of graduation day. Angelou was only graduating from the eighth grade, but because
of the sociocultural differences, graduation proved momentous in their community. Angelou later states "Oh, it was important, all right. White
folks would attend the ceremony, and two or three would speak of God and home, and the Southern way of life" (Angelou, 2014, p. 181). The
school making a minute event into a grand celebration conveys much about the state of the position African Americans were subjected to.
Angelou displays this later when she describes the scene of small children presented in a play about buttercups and daisies and bunny rabbits
and older girls preparing snacks and beverages. Normal society does not make such an event of Middle School

The Themes Of Motherhood In Peter The Park
Motherhood feeling blooms in each woman's heart. As a little girl, motherhood is practiced through doll as if it is her baby. As a woman grows
up, she creates her dreams of being a mother, strong bond, and attachment to this world; she naturally belongs to this hood. Motherhood then
becomes waking up in the middle of the night to make sure that her child is well tucked in and to give her full attention, care, and love to a child.
It is a harsh world, tiredness and exhaustion sometimes. Through the endless journey, she consumes her real, metal and emotional power and
energy for the sake of her own children's comfort and happiness. Strangely, if asking any mother about her life as a mother? She would happily
say that being a mom is the most satisfying feeling she has ever had. Most important chore in motherhood trip is to teach a child to grow up, as
nothing equals the happiness of a mother when finally, she knows that she raised a successful human being. As we will learn in this essay, how is

Also, believing in your child and forgive him would make him doesn't fear the unknown. Peter's mother forgives him because she knows he
learned his lesson. First, she was right when she warned him to stay away from the garden, second, he learned to be responsible and depend on
himself. He now knows how Mr. Rabbit cars or him and love him and she will always be there for him no matter what happens even if he makes
some mistakes. That is fundamentally important; each child should know and feel that way; secured and loved. Love and care are absent in the
case of Charles. His mother keeps a gap between him and careless; he is mentally paralyzed because of his mother's selfishness. Charles cannot

How Does Beatrix Potter Use Illustrations In The Tale Of...
Beatrix Potters, The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902), is a classic example of how illustrations help create story using a visual deception of what is
happening within the story, and expand the use of text to add to the overall plot. Illustrations have more to them than just making the page look
pretty; they educate and develop the imagination of young readers, but are also there for the enjoyment and understanding of the story. On an
educational level, the connection of illustration to the child reader still remain little understood, as Fang (1996) explains 'The relation of pictures
to stories and the nature of the readers interaction with both are an important aspect of literacy too little regarded and even less understood'. This
is why it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On page 66, we appear to see Peter being cared for, (Potter, 1902, p.67) 'His mother put him to bed, and made some camomile tea', after his
traumatic day, however this isn't what the illustration is really showing. From the image, we can see Peter at the back of the room, looking
willingly at his sisters, with a vision of envy. This could be seen as role reversal due to Peter's actions, because throughout the book we see Peter
as the main character and almost always the center of attention where the illustrations are concerned. However in this picture he is at the back
and the girls are at the front, even though they still have their backs to us. Young readers would feel sympathy for Peter, because he is the
protagonist and has been the main focus throughout the book, so to see him singled out like this would encourages this, but an adult reader
would read between the lines, and see that he is actually being punished because he doesn't want to go to bed and have camomile tea. Peter
wants to stay up with his sisters and have 'bread and milk and blackberries for

The Themes Of Animal Stereotypes In The Movie Zootopia
Zootopia
Zootopia (2016) is another spectacular hit from Disney. It is a story about an unlikely hero accompanied by an even surprising partner who sets
out on a quest to solve a investigation threatening Zootopia. Zootopia explored various themes and used animals as characters to effectively
display important themes such as stereotypes, prejudice and racism all while keeping it a movie the whole family can enjoy. Zootopia utilises
animals to display important themes as mentioned above and its negative effects on society. Stereotypes played a key role in the movie. It can be
seen in various scenes of the movie, Judy being victim of it quite a lot. Similarly, prejudice was also demonstrated in the movie with many
characters having very false judgements, but were eventually proven wrong. Likewise, racism was shown, just not to a full extent. The movie
shows us a good example of today's society with the animals portraying us humans.
In Zootopia, many animal stereotypes are explored, most of them which were very false.
Through the movie, various stereotypes were demonstrated in Zootopia. It was a key part of the movie, Judy and Nick were all victims of
stereotypes as with many other animals. The stereotypes were based on animal's appearances, shape and features. From start to finish, Judy
Hopps was stereotyped for being who she was, a rabbit. On her quest to become a cop, no one saw her as a suitable cop and stereotyped her for
being a rabbit. Everyone viewed her as a "dumb bunny" or a "carrot farmer bunny" and didn't consider her as a cop. Animals also stereotyped
her size, since she is so small they think she can't handle herself. A good example can be seen on her first day of the work. When Judy first
entered to work, she met Clawhauser. Immediately, your eyes are drawn to Clawhauser, for me, hes very salient. You have this cat who is much
bigger in the centre of the image while Judy is standing, barely visible to Clawhauser as she is so short. Your attention goes to clawhauser as you
notice how much bigger he is compared to Judy. Various angles are displayed during their inimate conversation. As for the orientation, Judy is
looking up towards Clawhauser, as he is barely visible due to the desk which is

Frankenstein's 'Monster': A Narrative Fiction
I was nearly blinded when I first looked into the eyes of this beast. Strangely, the wolf almost seemed to glow with a brilliant light when I saw

and hope the wolf would lose interest. The deadly creature crouched into a pouncing position, ready to strike. For a while we both just stared

wolf. I said to myself curiously. Again, the white wolf peeked around the shrub, but this time jumped over it and rushed in my direction. I tensed
my body, not sure what it was doing, but was relieved to see it pounce in the snow in front of me. I watched a while longer as it continued to

Hr Giger Research Paper
There are two artists from distinct eras, who have made a profound impact on the world of illustration. One artist is a contemporary icon known
for his success within the movie industry with his creations used in the 1980s Oscar winning movie, Alien (HR Giger). H.R. Giger was born in
Chur, Switzerland in 1940. Though he studied architecture and industrial design, he became one of the most famous surrealist artists
concentrating on works of fantastic realism (HR Giger). The other artist used her illustrations to bring children's literature to mainstream society
in the early 1900s: Helen Beatrix Potter. Born on July 28, 1866 in Kensington, London, Potter was a self–taught illustrator, who found

For this fact, both H.R. Giger and Beatrix Potter should be studied for their separate and varying contributions to the world of illustration.
H.R.Giger's illustrations are considered gothic with a twist of the cosmic supernatural. Best known for his book, Necronomicon, he published in
1977, Giger quickly rose to attention. This book is a collection of images with his most recognized being depictions of aliens in a "surrealistic
biochemical dreamscape" (HR Giger). These representations caught the eye of Hollywood director Ridley Scott, who based his horror movie,
Alien, upon Giger's creations. This movie would be awarded the 1980s Oscar for the Best Achievement in Visual Effects for title character,
stages of life cycle and environment (HR Giger). As an artist, Giger's strongest illustration characteristic is artistic technique. Using ink, oils and

Essay One With the Animals: Symbolism of the Animals in...
Animals come to represent, both purity and the relationship human beings have with the world. Animals play a key role in Timothy Findley's
novel, The Wars, whether it's for the interference, necessity, affection or compassion towards the characters. In The Wars, several characters
share this close bond with the animals, that serve to emphasize the different qualities of each character's personality. The animals connect with
the main character, Robert Ross, in ways that reflect his uncommon character and the obstacles that he faces throughout the war. Robert enlists
into the army as a Canadian soldier, shortly after the tragic death of his younger sister, Rowena. Throughout the novel, Robert grows a

Robert sees the rabbits as innocent bystanders, in the middle of a war between human arrogance and complete madness. Rabbits reflect a
defenseless and pure Rowena, that Robert feels has been destroyed by the war. As the war goes on, the reader notices the appearance and
thought of Rowena and the rabbits slowly disappearing. "Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a rabbit beside the road. Then he heard a rush of
wings. Something exploded. The rabbit disappeared." (Findley 179) This was the last time Robert sees a rabbit, signifying the innocence once
seen with his sister and her love for the rabbits, becoming forever lost within him. "Everything was in there– including the picture of Rowena.
Robert burned it in the middle of the floor. This was not an act of anger– but an act of charity." (Findley 178) Robert Ross also shares a special
bond with horses and a coyote. Roberts numerous encounters with these animals, signify the step towards not understanding only the animals,
however himself. Robert being a soldier learns the importance of survival and the duty to kill. "Always to trust the horse's judgment above his
own when it came to path–finding." (Findley 77) Yet from the coyote and the horses, he learns to trust their guidance, during difficult times. For

Praiseworthiness can raise an individuals' confidence. They won't be afraid to do things they thought they never could do. How can
praiseworthiness be defined? According to Google, the term "praiseworthy" can be defined as "deserving approval and admiration." The ability
to have determination, bravery and being hardworking are three important characteristics of praiseworthiness.
One important characteristic of praiseworthiness is having determination. Having determination is important because people are willing to do
anything to overcome any challenges just so they can achieve what they want. Two examples of this are the crow in "The Crow and the Pitcher"

The Importance Of Desire For Power In Watership Down
"Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power," says Lao–

power through their stature, others through their wit, but the truly effective leaders use the ideal attributes both from themselves and the rabbits

The desire for power in this novel is exhibited through the aspiring leaders Threarah and Woundwort that lead in their own best interest. The first

decision is important in displaying the desire for power in Threarah; he knows that if he listens to Fiver he could lose everything. The task of
moving the entire warren would not only take mounds of time and effort, but the decision would also be Threarah's. Consequently, this

Watership Down
The extraordinary novel, Watership Down, by Richard Adams is an adventure filled, meaningful piece of literature published in London around
November 1972. Although the plot is about a group of rabbits struggling to find home, the story can be interpreted as so much more. Of course
the book can be interpreted differently especially as times change. The general meaning however remains intact. This piece is a great example of
an author speaking their voice through writing.
The beginning of the novel takes place at the home of the Owsla Rabbits, which could be classified as a corrupt democracy. When Fiver, one of
the main character's, senses something terrible is going to happen to his home, he convinces his brother Hazel and several others to ... Show

This idea may be more important than others just because it gives somewhat of a moral lesson on how to succeed in life. Without the rabbits
great work ethic and strong will they would not have made it to Watership Down. Even after they were worn to the brim and some even injured,
they kept on going because they had a good leader and a bright vision of their future. They continued to go even when some had became
skeptical. This leads into another small side note that, no one was ever left behind. When Pipkin, a small loyal rabbit was injured, he was not left
behind. The group came up with the water raft idea to get him across the river, because they cared and looked out for one another.Hazel also
took the time to examine him and help to heal his foot so they could continue on with their journey. You can almost trace this back to the
beginning of the book, when Hazel and Fiver were about to embark on their trip they could have saved themselves and left, but they didn't. They
warned the others and gave an invitation to anyone that wanted to go. They tried to save anyone and everyone that they could, because they
couldn't leave anyone

The Origin And Significance Of Diversity Within The...
"Discuss the origin and significance of diversity within and between species using examples from a named Eukaryote taxonomic group of your
choice."
Introduction Diversity within and between species depends on various evolutionary processes and can be traced to some sort of genetically
altering event, whether it be a mutation, physical isolation, inbreeding depression etc. This essay seeks to analyze the origins and significance of
diversity within the taxonomic group of lagomorpha, analyzing the diversity both within and between species.
Origin of diversity within species
Inbreeding depression occurs when species inbreed to a point where the overall fitness of the species decreases. Slate and Pemberton studied
how inbreeding resulted in a reduced heterozygosity affected the sperm of wild rabbits, Oryctolagus cuniculus, across the United Kingdom; they
considered 112 individuals as well as populations (2006). The study found an important relationship: with a reduced heterozygosity, the
production of normal sperm was also reduced (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). It is important to note; this relationship was found amongst
individuals not entire populations (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). The study examined a loci region known to cause inbreeding depression for the
data (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). Figure 1 Relationship between the proportion of abnormal sperm and meant heterozygosity. Graph taken from

Introduction
Attention Getter (Capture): Have you ever wished for a rabbit or a guinea pig?
Motivate: Most of the world's common household pets are having cosmetics tested on them.
Introduce the topic: Help save them from this cruelty.
State the thesis: These animals are forced to try products. From forced to eating food to wearing L'oreal makeup.
Preview: In the next few minutes I will... tell you what's happening to these animals and how you can help them.
Body
Main Point 1: First, the problem.
Animals are having products tested on them. Animals like birds, fish, and rabbits. Companies like Sephora 's makeup, Lubriderm lotion, and
Dove's soap. Mice are the most popular for testing in the United States. This is because mice share 98% of human DNA states (proandcon.org),
and they are easier to breed. Even though, chimpanzees share 99% of our DNA. There are only two places where animals can be tested on, the
United States and Gabon. These animals have rights just like us. It's not like they can walk away from this. They are being held against their
will. These animals have never seen the

How Does Donahue Present Depression In Rabbit Run
Rabbit Runs Away from Depression
Depression has the ability to control one's behavior. In Rabbit Run, John Updike uses Janice and Rabbit to portray depression's manipulative
way of destroying a person. Through many articles, it is explained how the effects of depression cause a downwards spiral of self destruction.
Many authors have explored the effects of depression and linked it alcohol abuse as well. This can be easily compared to Janice's alcohol
consumption throughout the book and how it lead her to her downfall and eventual murder of her daughter as well as Rabbit's indecisive mind.
As Rabbit runs from Janice in an attempt to chase his youth, he is just as numb as his wife. Janice drinks her pain away. However, this does not
only affect Janice, but her whole family. Her kids are dragged into this situation as well. As one character struggles through depression and all
that results from it, the rest of her family is dragged through it with her.
Depression is not only a mental illness that disables one's ability to think and act freely, but it can actually mold someone into a different person
while taking over his or her entire life. The dark illness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In another novel by Updike, Too Far to Go, the characters share the same issue with alcohol abuse. It is explained through a criticism by Peter
Donahue that "[the character's] drunkenness bolsters his preoccupation with his own perception of events and seemingly removes him from any
consequences for his actions" (Donahue) similarly to Janice. The author also states how "Richard knew though his mind was deeply cushioned
and cottony and difference that an event has occurred which in another sobriety he would regret his intoxication but for him not only from an
emotional response to the accident from the physical pain of it as well" which like Rabbit feels as he runs away from his situation. It is almost as

Rabbit and Wolves Lab Essay
"Rabbits and wolves"
Introduction
The computer simulation named "Rabbits and wolves" is about models and simple systems. In the simulation, there are three main organisms,
rabbits, wolves and grass all put together in a forest ecosystem. An ecosystem is a set of organism within a defined area or volume that interact
with one another and with their environment (Miller & Spoolman). A system is a collection of elements or components that are organized
for a common purpose (Rouse, 2005).
The purpose of this simulation is to see how these three organisms will interact with one another in the same environment. We will see how the
populations of these organisms change by modifying parameters specific to each organism and how changing ... Show more content on

Graph 4 Evolution of the wolf and rabbit population in a smaller environment than the default parameters The default parameters are running but
the size of the forest changed from medium to small. The simulation runs for 221 iterations.
Discussion My first objective was to view and interact with simple computer model. I was able to represent in terms of parameters the variables,
watch on the simulation and examine the results. My second objective was to determine how simple changes in populations of one organism
would affect the populations of organisms in the same system. I've changed parameters of each one of the variables and I deducted that making

Emma's Maze: A Short Story
When Emma awoke, she was in what appeared to be a giant maze made of high, thick hedges with a dark sky dotted with bright stars. Emma
stood up, confused, when a loud, thick voice boomed out over the maze, "Attention new arrivals, welcome to the Elbuort maze. You have each
been brought here by super trouble jives, commonly found in salted tea juice. Now, as for the maze itself, there are approximately 25 of you. In
the middle of the maze lies a trophy. You must be one of the first six to reach the trophy, or you will be stuck in the maze forever as a ghost.
Now don't despair, we will not render you completely useless, for we will provide each of you with a survival kit, food rations, and a weapon of
our choice. Finally, on the probable chance you run into someone, feel free to injure them and take their supplies." Emma cautiously ... Show

Watership Down Analysis
The Rival of Leaders in Watership Down There are two types of leaders; the type that leads humbly and fairly, and the type that leads with force
and intimidation. Both of these can be found in Richard Adams' Watership Down. When danger seems to be approaching the Sandleford Warren,
a group of rabbits gather and leave to form or find a new warren. Throughout their journey, a leader emerges; Hazel. The group also encounters
an area called Efrafa, ruled by General Woundwort. Hazel and General Woundwort are complete opposites, specifically in how they became a
leader, how they lead, and how they view their own role as a leader. Both Hazel and General Woundwort have contrasting ways of taking on
their role as a leader. Part way through the book, Hazel and his companions are going on a long journey from their old warren. They are trying to
get to open fields that they can rest and settle into for a little while. Most of the rabbits have become tired and discouraged, including Hazel.
Hazel is trying to keep his friends going, including one named Hlao–roo that they call Pipkin. Hazel begins to lose hope as the journey seems to
go endlessly. Hazel's exhaustion is shown in the book when the author explains, "'Not far now, Hlao–roo, not far now,' he kept muttering, until
he realized that what he said had become meaningless, a mere refrain"(56). However, something none of them expected happens; they came
upon the fields they were searching for. From this discovering, Blackberry says,

War Of The Worlds Is A Grim View Into The Invasion Of Earth
War of the Worlds is a grim view into H.G. Wells idea of a Martian invasion of Earth. Wells begins the story as a cylinder crash lands in the
United Kingdom that houses Martians. As we follow the narrator 's journey to safety we learn about the Martians physiology, machines, and
social habits as well as the humans they are terrorizing, revealing some interesting ideas that Wells had. H.G. Wells was a British writer who was
well known for his writing in science fiction. Before his writing career started, he was a biologist which explains his fascination with the
anatomy of the Martians. He claimed to be an outspoken socialist and pacifist. War of the Worlds was written in 1898 and during this time the

The narrator thinks that this new invader will be put down quickly by the British Army and that there should be no worries but as he watches the
Martians destroy his town he realises how wrong he is. As he is fleeing the town with his wife he notes "apparently the Martians were setting
fire to everything within range of their Heat Ray"(42). This is a turning point for the narrator as he realises that he and the troops are no match
for the alien machinery and is forced to flee. The Brits nationalist idea is squashed with the arrival of the Martians. The idea of a nationalist
society is a strange one because every nation thinks they are the greatest. Until it is proven that we are no match for the Martians, the people just
assume that they are the best. When the Martians showed their true strength, the people were humbled in their anguish as they realised that the
British Army cannot take on any threat, like the Martians. This feeling of despair that people feel in the novel brings a sort of community, but
can also tear us apart. On his journey to safety, the narrator makes two unlikely allies and soon parts with them. One a military man and the other
a priest. The military man and the narrator travel together until the man is called to duty. The narrator narrowly escapes a Martian Tripod in a
river and leaves in a raft. He then meets the very religious Curate who accompanies him on his journey

keep pacing a constant speed to catch up to Lennie. As the forest begins to come to an end, there is a lengthy creek that comes to view.
Hesitating, I plunge into the water trying to find my dear friend Lennie. Just as I think there is no hope on finding him I see a movement out of
the corner of my eye. Thinking it was just an animal, I turn away not even realizing that the animal was Lennie. Lennie, terror– stricken and

bothered about how slowly my feet are moving I still leap toward him in excitement. Since we were hugging I didn't even realize that the

Animal Testing On Animals
A rabbit lives its life trapped in a laboratory. It doesn't get fresh air and has different products tested on it every day. The product can make the
rabbit go blind or cause its skin to burn, but there is nothing the rabbit can do about it. This is what happens to animals every day from cosmetic
companies who test their products on animals. According to Cruelty Free Kitty (2017), over 30 cosmetic companies continue to use animal
testing to improve their products. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (2017), "the agency has consistently advised cosmetic
manufactures to employ whatever testing is appropriate and effective for substantiating the safety of their products." This means that if the
company believes animal testing is the best option for their product they are allowed to do it. Testing cosmetics on animals is cruel and
inhumane, and people should avoid using products that test on animals.
There are many different tests that are performed on animals. According to The Humane Society of The United States (n.d), "it is estimated that
500,000 mice, guinea pigs, rats, and rabbits suffer and die in these tests every year throughout the world." 500,000 innocent animals are used to
improve cosmetic company's products. One example of a test performed on animals are skin irritation/corrosion. According to the Humane
Society of The United States (n.d.), "The test substance is applied to the shaved skin of a rabbit. Their skin may show signs of redness, rash,

Watership Down Analysis
The book Watership Down by Richard Adams, is a story that was once told to his children and has been put into a novel. The book shows us the
ups and downs during a journey of many rabbits. These rabbits talk in their own language and embark on a crazy journey to a new land.
Sandleford is the current home of the rabbits and their journey will take them to Cowslips Warren, there part time home. We will focus on life in

The general moral of the rabbits is that they are all satisfied with the living conditions except for Fiver. All the rabbits rarely see harm or danger,

Cycle Of Life And Imagery In 'The Grave' By Katherine Anne...
'The Grave' by Katherine Anne Porter is a story that illustrates the initiation of a child from innocence to experience. The underlying theme
behind the central idea of innocence to experience is the cycle of life and death and rebirth. This theme is illustrated in the young protagonist,
Miranda, and her epiphany on the concept of the cycle of life and rebirth. The dominant tone in 'The Grave' is melancholic, and that tone is
created through the language elements of symbolism, diction, and imagery. The story's tone is also supported by the fiction element character.
Porter begins the story with Miranda and her brother Paul exploring a graveyard while out hunting. As they continue with their hunt, Paul shoots
a rabbit that is about to give birth. Paul proceeds to carefully slit the dead rabbit open revealing her young unborn babies. This moment is an
epiphany for young Miranda as she understands the meaning of rebirth and the cycle of life and death. Miranda later reflects upon this incident
years later in a foreign city's busy bazaar and is reminded of the event that transformed her from an innocent child to a more experienced and
knowledgeable young woman. One of the most important language elements that Porter uses in the story is symbolism, which illustrates
innocence and experience. Porter uses symbolism when Miranda and Paul explore their forefathers graves. The graves represent death and
experience, while Miranda and Paul represent childhood and innocence.

How To Build Nibbles?
When I was younger, me and my friends were always adventuring and exploring the world around us. One of my friends in particular, Joseph,
was always getting into trouble. You would have thought he did not have a brain, but it was always fun to explore with him. One day, we were
goofing off in the backyard. As we were laughing and jumping around, Joseph tripped. I laughed at first but soon discovered that he had tripped
in a small hole, about as big around as a basketball. Being the adventurers that we were, we decided to investigate the hole. Joseph reached in
the hole, but almost as soon as he put his hand in, I heard him screaming. As I looked up, I saw him fling something off of his hand. That object
that flew off his hand happened to be a light brown, baby bunny rabbit. Joseph threw the rabbit because it had bit him and for this reason, we
named it Nibbles. When we first saw Nibbles after he had been thrown, we thought he was dead, but it turns out he was still alive. He was

No Country For Old Men By Cormac Mccarthy
The world has suffered a terrible calamity. Exactly what is never explicitly explained, but it is implied that apparently two countries with nuclear
weapons finally decided to try them out and see what happened. The world is cold. The sun is blotted out from the sky. The plants are dying. The
sky is gray and the surface of the Earth is covered by a constantly shifting gray ash. Within this world walks two human beings and they are a
man and his son. This is very basic plotline of Cormac McCarthy 's book "The Road." McCarthy has garnered a lot of attention lately. His book
"No Country for Old Men" was turned into a powerful and moving film that won a lot of shiny statues at last year 's Academy Awards. He is
known for his very bleak view of the world, and for describing horrors and atrocities with a frankness and bluntness that often leaves readers
stunned. His novel "Blood Meridian" is so relentlessly violent that many have had to put the book down just to give their minds a rest from the
carnage. However, both "Blood Meridican" and "The Road" are being turned into Hollywood productions even now as I write this. McCarthy
writes in short, direct sentences. He never used quotation marks and sometimes the words spoken by characters are not even separated from
paragraphs that just describe the action. Reading his work is an active exercise and one that you have to brace yourself for. The most idyllic
scene can suddenly turn horrific as the young man and his son turn one corner

Peter Rabbit Music Analysis
If I was to describe Peter Rabbit Music, I'd say that the tones of Peter Hume's voice and the mix of the synth and acoustic guitar are reminiscent
of a warm hug from a long lost friend. The Melbourne local (by way of New Zealand and Sydney) is quick to agree.
"About five or six years ago, I went through a reconnect with childhood phase where I really got into just looking at things fresh was the idea,
and being excited about things because I'd been down a lot and been through a lot. It's very easy to get blasé about it."

Seeing him perform myself as he cohesively engages with the audience at any given moment, I was able to observe his devotion to his craft. "I
like the intimacy of it and the immediacy. I'm a fast moving sort of guy. Even in the studio, I like to have everything with me. I want to do
everything really fast....At every moment, every time I play the songs, they're different. It's really nice to be able to present that to people."
At this stage of Peter Rabbit, he is focusing on the live performance aspect of his career. "At the moment, the song's are the most important
thing. I find that with a recording people often listen to the recording. Whereas, with a performance, you listen to the song."
The future really is full of possibilities for Peter Rabbit. Hume's willingness to experiment and try new things means his sound will only become
deeper and more moving as time goes on.

Watership Down Quotes

  • 1. Watership Down Quotes In the downs of a small farm, two rabbits are preparing to flee their warren in order to escape men come to kill them. Richard Adam's Watership Down follows these two rabbits – Hazel and Fiver – as they gather a following and make their way across the farmland to safety. The band of misfits looks to Hazel for guidance, and he leads them to their haven: a warren atop the hills where the rabbits are safe and sound. However, the need to keep the warren going pushes the rabbits to continue exploring and find does in other warrens. While looking, they meet the Efrafa warren. This warren is lead by General Woundwort, and immediately the two parties are at odds with one another. The most noticeable difference is between the leaders of the two warrens: Hazel and General Woundwort. Both Hazel and General Woundwort are cunning; however, the leaders use their wits in different ways. Hazel uses his wit for the betterment of his people, while General Woundwort uses his to control and oppress his people. Some leaders are born into their position, others rise to the occasion, and a small few seize the position themselves – the latter of the three describe both Hazel and General Woundwort. Their motivation is what separates them. Hazel takes charge of his warren to protect them, while General Woundwort climbs up the ladder of power using any means available. In the beginning, Hazel's "warren" did not have a leader. It was merely a band of misfit rabbits trying to leave their warren. Hazel proves himself a leader when the Owsla, or rabbit police, come to arrest the rabbits that try to leave. After a fight breaks out, Hazel steps forward to protect his brothers, "Go,' said Hazel, firmly and quietly, 'Or we'll kill you" (21). Hazel believes that if there is no way to get his people out safely, then they will have to go out fighting. The instinct to protect and fight for his people is how Hazel becomes the leader of his warren. His brave actions make him becomes the Chief Rabbit of his warren. Hazel did not seek leadership, he simply led. In contrast to this natural leadership, General Woundwort is more power–hungry and ruthless. He is the tyrant of his warren Efrafa. The narrator tells the story of General Woundwort and how his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have dreamt all my life to find treasures and animals that mask inside nature. There is only one problem: my mom won't let me go. "A fire fox!" Alistair screams. He sounds so much like a girl, I burst with laughter. At the same time, I am so curious. "If only I could touch it–" "No! Lucy, stop!" Ssss. . . . "My hand is burnt! Ow, ow, ow! I understand now." Sniff. "Ouch!" "Told you so." The pack with more fire foxes comes with a sly look in their eyes. "Bye, bye, we're going now. . . ." • 15. My Favorite Books I cannot remember a time in my life when I didn't love reading and writing. My favorite books during my early childhood mostly consisted of Dr. Seuss books. I spent hours reading with my parents and on my own, we read a book before bed every night. When I was in Kindergarten I wrote my first book, about bunny rabbits. I spent hours making two copies of my picture book about what I believed bunnies did. My older sister became my first critic when she told me that my book was stupid and childish. I remember sobbing when a glass of water spilled on them and smudged the marker I had used to create them. My mom managed to salvage the books and they're still in a box somewhere. After Dr. Seuss and P.D Eastman; I graduated to "Junie B. Jones", "The Boxcar Children", and "Magic Tree House." I read nearly all of the books in those series, with my favorite being "The Boxcar Children." At the suggestion of my older sister, I read Suzanne Collins' "Gregor the Overlander" series and loved it. My sister and I fell in love with "Violet Rains Almost Got Struck by Lightning" and "Everything on a Waffle" around the time I was going into middle school. I read those books about fifteen times each and can still describe "Violet Rains Almost Got Struck by Lightning" perfectly. Around the same time, I read, "Out of my Mind" by Sharon M. Draper and was completely blown away. That book changed my perspective on people with special needs and I'm now extremely active with the special ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Significance Of The Scene In John Steinbeck's Of Mice... In the novel Of Mice and Men, the scene represented in the diorama is when Lennie just got finished having a vision about the giant rabbit declaring that George is going to abandon him all alone and then scampered back into Lennie's brain as George is quietly approaching out of the brush. I consider this scene that I created is significant to the novel because this is the scene to which Lennie passes away, caused by George. Yes, the death of Curley's wife, due to Lennie's strength and nervousness, was something major that lead to the cause of the occurrence, but in this scene, it is to which George's thoughts were accurately correct in taking out Carlson's Luger and handling it well. In this diorama it consists of two men, one kneeling, facing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Analysis Of Graduation Day By Maya Angelou Forged by Pain In 1940, the United States approached the eightieth–year anniversary of the abolition of slavery; however, the social oppression of African American citizens steadily increased. Despite being free for decades, they were still leagues below the white people who owned their ancestors. African American author Maya Angelou recollects on her experience of graduation from the eighth grade in her 1940 piece "Graduation Day." The narrative not only highlights the importance of the narrator's graduation, but also the expectations of Angelou's community due to their persecution and separation. Perseverance through separation and persecution forges dignity in an individual. The separation of the African American displays the importance of graduation day. Angelou was only graduating from the eighth grade, but because of the sociocultural differences, graduation proved momentous in their community. Angelou later states "Oh, it was important, all right. White folks would attend the ceremony, and two or three would speak of God and home, and the Southern way of life" (Angelou, 2014, p. 181). The school making a minute event into a grand celebration conveys much about the state of the position African Americans were subjected to. Angelou displays this later when she describes the scene of small children presented in a play about buttercups and daisies and bunny rabbits and older girls preparing snacks and beverages. Normal society does not make such an event of Middle School ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a woman grows up, she creates her dreams of being a mother, strong bond, and attachment to this world; she naturally belongs to this hood. Motherhood then becomes waking up in the middle of the night to make sure that her child is well tucked in and to give her full attention, care, and love to a child. It is a harsh world, tiredness and exhaustion sometimes. Through the endless journey, she consumes her real, metal and emotional power and energy for the sake of her own children's comfort and happiness. Strangely, if asking any mother about her life as a mother? She would happily say that being a mom is the most satisfying feeling she has ever had. Most important chore in motherhood trip is to teach a child to grow up, as nothing equals the happiness of a mother when finally, she knows that she raised a successful human being. He now knows how Mr. Rabbit cars or him and love him and she will always be there for him no matter what happens even if he makes some mistakes. Beatrix Potters, The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902), is a classic example of how illustrations help create story using a visual deception of what is happening within the story, and expand the use of text to add to the overall plot. Illustrations have more to them than just making the page look pretty; they educate and develop the imagination of young readers, but are also there for the enjoyment and understanding of the story. On an educational level, the connection of illustration to the child reader still remain little understood, as Fang (1996) explains 'The relation of pictures to stories and the nature of the readers interaction with both are an important aspect of literacy too little regarded and even less understood'. On page 66, we appear to see Peter being cared for, (Potter, 1902, p.67) 'His mother put him to bed, and made some camomile tea', after his traumatic day, however this isn't what the illustration is really showing. From the image, we can see Peter at the back of the room, looking willingly at his sisters, with a vision of envy. This could be seen as role reversal due to Peter's actions, because throughout the book we see Peter as the main character and almost always the center of attention where the illustrations are concerned. However in this picture he is at the back and the girls are at the front, even though they still have their backs to us. Young readers would feel sympathy for Peter, because he is the protagonist and has been the main focus throughout the book, so to see him singled out like this would encourages this, but an adult reader would read between the lines, and see that he is actually being punished because he doesn't want to go to bed and have camomile tea. • 25. The Themes Of Animal Stereotypes In The Movie Zootopia Zootopia Zootopia (2016) is another spectacular hit from Disney. It is a story about an unlikely hero accompanied by an even surprising partner who sets out on a quest to solve a investigation threatening Zootopia. Zootopia explored various themes and used animals as characters to effectively display important themes such as stereotypes, prejudice and racism all while keeping it a movie the whole family can enjoy. Zootopia utilises animals to display important themes as mentioned above and its negative effects on society. Stereotypes played a key role in the movie. It can be seen in various scenes of the movie, Judy being victim of it quite a lot. Similarly, prejudice was also demonstrated in the movie with many characters having very false judgements, but were eventually proven wrong. Likewise, racism was shown, just not to a full extent. The movie shows us a good example of today's society with the animals portraying us humans. In Zootopia, many animal stereotypes are explored, most of them which were very false. Through the movie, various stereotypes were demonstrated in Zootopia. It was a key part of the movie, Judy and Nick were all victims of stereotypes as with many other animals. The stereotypes were based on animal's appearances, shape and features. From start to finish, Judy Hopps was stereotyped for being who she was, a rabbit. On her quest to become a cop, no one saw her as a suitable cop and stereotyped her for being a rabbit. Everyone viewed her as a "dumb bunny" or a "carrot farmer bunny" and didn't consider her as a cop. Animals also stereotyped her size, since she is so small they think she can't handle herself. A good example can be seen on her first day of the work. When Judy first entered to work, she met Clawhauser. Immediately, your eyes are drawn to Clawhauser, for me, hes very salient. You have this cat who is much bigger in the centre of the image while Judy is standing, barely visible to Clawhauser as she is so short. Your attention goes to clawhauser as you notice how much bigger he is compared to Judy. Various angles are displayed during their inimate conversation. As for the orientation, Judy is looking up towards Clawhauser, as he is barely visible due to the desk which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Strangely, the wolf almost seemed to glow with a brilliant light when I saw him. His bright blue eyes and radiant, white fur seemed whiter than the snow itself. A large rabbit lay clenched firmly between the wolf's sturdy maws. It started to growl again as I stood there, fear–stricken. I wasn't quite sure what to do at this particular moment other than to stand still, and hope the wolf would lose interest. The deadly creature crouched into a pouncing position, ready to strike. I tensed my body, not sure what it was doing, but was relieved to see it pounce in the snow in front of me. I watched a while longer as it continued to dance around me, playfully running in circles. This was definitely a unique animal, but I knew I had to continue on my journey toward finding help. So after packing up my few belongings in the blanket, I started to walk away from the wolf. A sudden bark came from behind me. I turned around and saw that it had stopped playing. Instead of dashing about playfully, it had turned its attention back to me, staring at me intently. Animals play a key role in Timothy Findley's novel, The Wars, whether it's for the interference, necessity, affection or compassion towards the characters. In The Wars, several characters share this close bond with the animals, that serve to emphasize the different qualities of each character's personality. The animals connect with the main character, Robert Ross, in ways that reflect his uncommon character and the obstacles that he faces throughout the war. "Discuss the origin and significance of diversity within and between species using examples from a named Eukaryote taxonomic group of your choice." Introduction Diversity within and between species depends on various evolutionary processes and can be traced to some sort of genetically altering event, whether it be a mutation, physical isolation, inbreeding depression etc. This essay seeks to analyze the origins and significance of diversity within the taxonomic group of lagomorpha, analyzing the diversity both within and between species. Origin of diversity within species Inbreeding depression occurs when species inbreed to a point where the overall fitness of the species decreases. Slate and Pemberton studied how inbreeding resulted in a reduced heterozygosity affected the sperm of wild rabbits, Oryctolagus cuniculus, across the United Kingdom; they considered 112 individuals as well as populations (2006). The study found an important relationship: with a reduced heterozygosity, the production of normal sperm was also reduced (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). It is important to note; this relationship was found amongst individuals not entire populations (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). The study examined a loci region known to cause inbreeding depression for the data (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). In Rabbit Run, John Updike uses Janice and Rabbit to portray depression's manipulative way of destroying a person. Through many articles, it is explained how the effects of depression cause a downwards spiral of self destruction. Many authors have explored the effects of depression and linked it alcohol abuse as well. This can be easily compared to Janice's alcohol consumption throughout the book and how it lead her to her downfall and eventual murder of her daughter as well as Rabbit's indecisive mind. As Rabbit runs from Janice in an attempt to chase his youth, he is just as numb as his wife. Janice drinks her pain away. However, this does not only affect Janice, but her whole family. • 53. Watership Down Analysis The Rival of Leaders in Watership Down There are two types of leaders; the type that leads humbly and fairly, and the type that leads with force and intimidation. Both of these can be found in Richard Adams' Watership Down. When danger seems to be approaching the Sandleford Warren, a group of rabbits gather and leave to form or find a new warren. Throughout their journey, a leader emerges; Hazel. The group also encounters an area called Efrafa, ruled by General Woundwort. Hazel and General Woundwort are complete opposites, specifically in how they became a leader, how they lead, and how they view their own role as a leader. Both Hazel and General Woundwort have contrasting ways of taking on their role as a leader. Part way through the book, Hazel and his companions are going on a long journey from their old warren. Hazel is trying to keep his friends going, including one named Hlao–roo that they call Pipkin. Hazel begins to lose hope as the journey seems to go endlessly. • 57. Lennie Monologue Running through branches and high standing grass, I sprint as fast as my body will move. Insure about how much energy my body has left, I keep pacing a constant speed to catch up to Lennie. As the forest begins to come to an end, there is a lengthy creek that comes to view. Hesitating, I plunge into the water trying to find my dear friend Lennie. Just as I think there is no hope on finding him I see a movement out of the corner of my eye. Thinking it was just an animal, I turn away not even realizing that the animal was Lennie. Lennie, terror– stricken and drizzling, is standing right in front of me. I try to dash toward him, but since my legs are in the water they don't seem to move quickly. Not even bothered about how slowly my feet are moving I still leap toward him in excitement. Since we were hugging I didn't even realize that the neighing and running footsteps of the men's horse were drawing closer to us. "Lennie, we have to get outta here. There is nothing 'round here that is gonna keep us safe." "But, George...I thought we were gonna get a ranch here, on the fat of the land, so I could tend them rabbits. Just as I think we have made it to safety, a gunshot goes off. Right in front of the old bus, I fall to my knees as my vision becomes blurry. Even through all of the noise and commotion, all I can hear is my ears ringing. Most people would be scared or angry that they are dying, but I was happy because Lennie was safe. Surprisingly, the bus driver took Lennie and drove off. The bus before had just seemed like a bus, but now it was like a chariot, because it carried the only thing important to me in it. • 59. Animal Testing On Animals A rabbit lives its life trapped in a laboratory. It doesn't get fresh air and has different products tested on it every day. The product can make the rabbit go blind or cause its skin to burn, but there is nothing the rabbit can do about it. This is what happens to animals every day from cosmetic companies who test their products on animals. According to Cruelty Free Kitty (2017), over 30 cosmetic companies continue to use animal testing to improve their products. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (2017), "the agency has consistently advised cosmetic manufactures to employ whatever testing is appropriate and effective for substantiating the safety of their products." This means that if the company believes animal testing is the best option for their product they are allowed to do it. Testing cosmetics on animals is cruel and inhumane, and people should avoid using products that test on animals. There are many different tests that are performed on animals. According to The Humane Society of The United States (n.d), "it is estimated that 500,000 mice, guinea pigs, rats, and rabbits suffer and die in these tests every year throughout the world." 500,000 innocent animals are used to improve cosmetic company's products. One example of a test performed on animals are skin irritation/corrosion. According to the Humane Society of The United States (n.d.), "The test substance is applied to the shaved skin of a rabbit. • 63. Cycle Of Life And Imagery In 'The Grave' By Katherine Anne... 'The Grave' by Katherine Anne Porter is a story that illustrates the initiation of a child from innocence to experience. The underlying theme behind the central idea of innocence to experience is the cycle of life and death and rebirth. This theme is illustrated in the young protagonist, Miranda, and her epiphany on the concept of the cycle of life and rebirth. The dominant tone in 'The Grave' is melancholic, and that tone is created through the language elements of symbolism, diction, and imagery. The story's tone is also supported by the fiction element character. Porter begins the story with Miranda and her brother Paul exploring a graveyard while out hunting. As they continue with their hunt, Paul shoots a rabbit that is about to give birth. Paul proceeds to carefully slit the dead rabbit open revealing her young unborn babies. This moment is an epiphany for young Miranda as she understands the meaning of rebirth and the cycle of life and death. Miranda later reflects upon this incident years later in a foreign city's busy bazaar and is reminded of the event that transformed her from an innocent child to a more experienced and knowledgeable young woman. One of the most important language elements that Porter uses in the story is symbolism, which illustrates innocence and experience. Porter uses symbolism when Miranda and Paul explore their forefathers graves. The graves represent death and experience, while Miranda and Paul represent childhood and innocence. ... • 65. How To Build Nibbles? When I was younger, me and my friends were always adventuring and exploring the world around us. One of my friends in particular, Joseph, was always getting into trouble. You would have thought he did not have a brain, but it was always fun to explore with him. One day, we were goofing off in the backyard. As we were laughing and jumping around, Joseph tripped. I laughed at first but soon discovered that he had tripped in a small hole, about as big around as a basketball. Being the adventurers that we were, we decided to investigate the hole. Joseph reached in the hole, but almost as soon as he put his hand in, I heard him screaming. As I looked up, I saw him fling something off of his hand. That object that flew off his hand happened to be a light brown, baby bunny rabbit. Joseph threw the rabbit because it had bit him and for this reason, we named it Nibbles. When we first saw Nibbles after he had been thrown, we thought he was dead, but it turns out he was still alive. He was moving but slowly. Joseph and I felt terrible so we decided we would try to build Nibbles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We used lava rocks and decorative bricks. We then constructed the house. We tried everything to get Nibbles to go inside of the house. We put lettuce and carrots in the entrance but Nibbles still did not come close to the house. We tried taking Nibbles to the house, but still no luck. We began to think Nibbles did not appreciate us. It was later confirmed that Nibbles could not have cared less about what we were doing. Nibbles ran away after only two days and we never saw the rabbit again. • 71. No Country For Old Men By Cormac Mccarthy The world has suffered a terrible calamity. Exactly what is never explicitly explained, but it is implied that apparently two countries with nuclear weapons finally decided to try them out and see what happened. The world is cold. The sun is blotted out from the sky. The plants are dying. The sky is gray and the surface of the Earth is covered by a constantly shifting gray ash. Within this world walks two human beings and they are a man and his son. This is very basic plotline of Cormac McCarthy 's book "The Road." McCarthy has garnered a lot of attention lately. His book "No Country for Old Men" was turned into a powerful and moving film that won a lot of shiny statues at last year 's Academy Awards. He is known for his very bleak view of the world, and for describing horrors and atrocities with a frankness and bluntness that often leaves readers stunned. His novel "Blood Meridian" is so relentlessly violent that many have had to put the book down just to give their minds a rest from the carnage. However, both "Blood Meridican" and "The Road" are being turned into Hollywood productions even now as I write this. McCarthy writes in short, direct sentences. He never used quotation marks and sometimes the words spoken by characters are not even separated from paragraphs that just describe the action. Reading his work is an active exercise and one that you have to brace yourself for. The most idyllic scene can suddenly turn horrific as the young man and his son turn one corner ... • 73. Peter Rabbit Music Analysis If I was to describe Peter Rabbit Music, I'd say that the tones of Peter Hume's voice and the mix of the synth and acoustic guitar are reminiscent of a warm hug from a long lost friend. The Melbourne local (by way of New Zealand and Sydney) is quick to agree. "About five or six years ago, I went through a reconnect with childhood phase where I really got into just looking at things fresh was the idea, and being excited about things because I'd been down a lot and been through a lot. It's very easy to get blasé about it." As a member of Evermore, the 29 year old is all too familiar with the ins and outs of the music industry. "I used to just love going to see small bands, playing in clubs, and see them excited to be on stage and just like, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It's really nice to be able to present that to people." At this stage of Peter Rabbit, he is focusing on the live performance aspect of his career. "At the moment, the song's are the most important thing. I find that with a recording people often listen to the recording. Whereas, with a performance, you listen to the song." The future really is full of possibilities for Peter Rabbit. Hume's willingness to experiment and try new things means his sound will only become deeper and more moving as time goes on. "I'd love to put a band together, a jam band and try that tribal thing. I've got this vision, a rotating chaotic jam band and call them The Sonic Temple Builders...I love gospel, blues, and soul, things like that, where you give people an experience and almost reach out somehow. Ishi had always wondered what rabbit would taste like, because he would see hawks swoop down and catching them. He started by cutting a few strands of hair from the tail of his horse and braiding it to make cordage.
