Domestic Violence Program Analysis
There are many programs to help people in need against violence, assault, abuse, and delinquency.
Each program is design to help people with these issues and how to overcome them. There are many
similarities and difference that each program has. Each has its own intervention method used to help
people in the different programs. Some programs are very effective in helping people with their
issues while other programs are not because of many reasons. All the programs have one thing in
common and that is to help people who are going through violence, assault, abuse, and delinquency
find help that he or she needs to get out of the situation he or she is in and help them to live them life

Those programs that are tailored to juvenile delinquency provide a structure support system for
juveniles to successful adults. A notable program that has effectiveness in juvenile delinquency is
the Court Appointed Friend and Advocate (CAFA) program, which is located in Santa Clara,
California (Judicial Council of California, 2017). This program allows the juvenile courts system in
its jurisdiction to appoint a juvenile advocate to sponsor a juvenile in their journey to be a successful
and contributing member of the community. When a juvenile is required to report to a court hearing
for a juvenile delinquent related offense, the judge may offer the juvenile a deferred entry of
judgement (DEJ) and order the juvenile to participate in the CAFA program. The court will also
assign a juvenile advocate, who is also an officer of the court, to the juvenile's case. The juvenile
advocate has the authority to access all related information to the juvenile including court record,
school records, medical records, and probation files (Superior Courts of California, 2014). The
juvenile advocate is act as agent, mentor, and friend for the juvenile. Their primary goal is to
understand the juvenile and provide direction that will be acceptable for the courts and provide a
positive road for the juvenile to follow (Judicial Council of California, 2017). Their other

Juvenile Delinquency Is Participation Of Illegal Behavior...
Juvenile Delinquency is participation of illegal behavior by minors. Although it is no single path to
juvenile delinquency, the presence of several risk factors often increases a youth's chance of
offending. Risk factors have been defined as those characteristics, variables, or hazards that, if
present for a given individual, make it more likely that this individual, rather than someone selected
from the general population, will develop a disorder(May 2014). Risk factors predict an increased
probability of later offending but it is true that certain protective factors may work to offset risk
factors. To determine this, an assessment is given to the juvenile. This risk assessment will configure
the type of intervention that will best suit the individual youth needs in order to decrease their risk of
offending. The top three key social factors that contribute to juvenile delinquency in the 21st
Century are family, peers, and community. In this paper I will focus on the different aspects of each
top key social factor and the affects it will have on the juvenile. Family is the biggest influence for
early on–set juvenile delinquency risk factors, primarily affecting children 6–11 years of age
(Shader). Children learn basic concepts about good and bad from their family; they make their
values and set the norm for society. Majority of the adolescents who show delinquent behaviors at
an early age in any form come from families that could not give firm foundations to the children.

Juvenile Delinquency Is An Integral Part Of Criminology
The greatest asset a nation has is in the form of children which form a major portion of its
population. So they should be allowed and provided opportunity to become robust citizens, and to
grow up physically fit, mentally alert and morally healthy, being sufficiently endowed with skills
and activations needed by the society. Equal opportunities for development to all children during the
period of growth should be provided for reducing inequality and ensuring social justice, which in
turn would serve as an effective tool to curb delinquency in juveniles. Children are expected to be
obedient, respectful and imbibe virtues and good quality in them. Due to various reasons children do
not follow settled social and legal dictum. Juvenile delinquency, as a legal concept is of recent
origin. Juvenile delinquency is an integral part of criminology. The two cannot be separated since
one of the reasons for crime and its continuance into adult life is the ineffective control and
treatment of juveniles. Juvenile delinquency is a big breading centre of criminals. The word
delinquency is derived from the Latin word "delinquere" meaning de i.e. away and linquere i.e. to
leave thus, meaning to leave or to abandon. Originally, the word had an objective meaning as it
referred to parents who neglected and abandoned their children. In present day, it is used and applied
to those children who indulge in wrongful and harmful activities.
The term juvenile delinquency applies to violation of

Home For Peculiar Children Essay
Since Time Burton began directing, incredibly dark and quirky fantasies have been created for
viewers of all ages. The 2016 movie Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children perfectly
combines all that audiences have come to expect from Tim Burton. The movie is filled with fun,
unusual characters, who are each unique in their own way, adding to the suspense and thrill of the
fantasy. Its special effects make sure that the movie holds its audience's attention while also making
it memorable. And of course, the viewer is forced to use their imagination. Miss Peregrine's Home

and titled the same as the novel. It is set in a time loop that replays a single day in 1941, during
World War II on the island of Cairnholm. Jacob Portman, the 16 year old protagonist, is searching
for the truth in the strange bedtime stories that his grandfather, Abe, told him as a child. Upon
arriving on the island, Jacob discovers the creepy ruins of the abandoned orphanage that is isolated
in a rural village surrounded by treacherous marshland. He is confronted with the characters from

The main points of legislation that support the safeguarding of children are the Children Act 1989,
Children Act 2004 and the Childcare Act 2006. The Children Act in 1989 set out principles to guide
the work of local authorities and courts and also defined 'significant harm' and a child 'in need' of
intervention. The Children Act 2004 provides the legal basis for children's services set out in the

is full of mystery and riddles being solved, as the main character Jacob Portland tried to figure out
the meaning of his grandfather's last words before he died from being attacked by a mysterious
creature. "Find the bird. In the loop. On the otherside of the old man's grave. September third, 1940.

grandfather saying the same words again and again. His acute stress disorder from the incident
keeps the words constantly on his mind, and when he goes to help his family finally clean out his

Children 's Socialization And Control Of Children Before...
1. What role did the family play in the socialization and control of children before the 1800s?
During the Middle Ages and through the 1500s and 1600s, the family served as the primary unit of
social control. Within the family, power was typically vested in the father, and the mother and the
children were expected to obey his commands. However, the nuclear family of today was relatively
rare in the middle ages. Rather, a typical family consisted of an extended group of related people
and other individuals who were not related. The father, particularly if he was a merchant, might
spend considerable time away from the home. High mortality rates meant that either parent might
have died and been replaced by a stepparent. In addition, servants, apprentices, and journeymen
sometimes lived in the household, and neighbors were often present. Consequently, children were
exposed to a large number of adults who played a role in their socialization and control.
2. What role did children play in the colonization of the New World? Children were counted on to
play an important role in the expansion of European influence and became an integral part of plans
to colonize the New World. Indeed, for some people, the colonization of the New World was viewed
as an opportunity for children to be involved in productive work. Merchants saw children as
potential providers of the labor that would be needed to produce the many goods necessary for
survival in the colonies. Some people felt that work was

Children With A Single Parent Home
Today children that are raised in a single parent home are viewed differently than those who have
both parents when being raised. Many think that having both parents at home is very important and
the ideal family. "In the world today more than a third of the population is being raised with only a
mother. These calculations have doubled over time and keeps growing as the days go on (Anderson,
2013)." Some say that being raised by only one parent is impossible, but by statistics it is proven
wrong. It is more common for children to be raised with only one parent than it is for them to have
both parents under one roof. Many parents get divorced, or one gets deathly sick or passes away.
Others just leave there children because they don't want them or simply can't provide for the child.
Children grow emotionally stable and well off whether they have one or two parents at home to
show them how life goes and the right paths to take. There are many problems and challenges when
a child is raised by only one parent versus having both a mother and a father. Does a child need both
parents to live in the society we have today? Does a single parent get any help when raising a child
alone? When researching and gathering evidence this topic has become an intriguing argument all
around the world today. What do you really need when raising a child properly? When properly
raising a child it doesn't really matter how the structure of the family is, it should be based on the
values and morals

Juvenile Delinquency Has Increased Throughout The Years
INTRODUCTION
Juvenile Delinquency has increased throughout the years. In 2008 the United States police arrested
about 2.11 million juveniles. Juvenile arrest rates had increased in 2005 and again in 2006. Data
show increases in some offense categories but declines in most. Most changes being less than 10%
in either direction. According to the data arson at 47% is one of the biggest crimes that juveniles
commit. Following are robbery at 27%, burglary at 27%, and property crimes at 26%. Juveniles are
creating more problems for parents, schools, and communities. In 2007 juvenile courts dealt with a
large amount of juvenile delinquents. About 4,600 cases per day were being treated at the courts
(Puzzanchera, Charles).
One main reasons for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research has shown that from a family of four or more children are more likely to become juvenile
delinquents than those who come from a three or less children homes.
This research is important because understanding what makes a juvenile delinquent is necessary to
know. Parents can be educated on what is affecting their teen to contribute to delinquent behavior.
The family structure has been avoided by many citizens. Educating the public on the family
structure can make a different in a teen's life.
Social Scientist started to examine the family structure when they began to notice a high divorce rate
that began in the 1960s. They wanted to know how divorce was affecting children mentally and if
they were more likely to commit crimes than those who had both parents. Social scientist studies
began to show that children who come from divorced parents tend to have more academic,
behavioral, and emotional problems. When parents decide to divorce or separate, the child or
children begin to stress because they know that everything is going to change and this can cause fear
among the child. Studies have shown that a few children begin to adapt to their parents separation.
However, more than one–third of children were clinically depressed, failing in school, had low
social communication, were unable to sleep and eat, and hoped that one day their parents would get
back together. Many of them

Persuasive Essay On Juvenile Delinquency
Suzzie and her two friends are outside playing around when Suzzie decides that she want to play
doorbell ditching. So eventually they go around the neighborhood and get a few houses playing
doorbell ditching. When they approached their last house that owner caught them. Suzzie explained
to him that they were playing pranks because they were bored and the neighbor told them he did the
same thing when he was younger so he understands. It would be different if Suzzie and her friends
were bored and they decided to torture a cat for the fun of it. At a young age, it was normal to do
little pranks such as doorbell ditching or throwing water balloons at people. Those actions are not
considered mischievous behavior. On the other hand, Suzzie and her friends torturing a cat could be
an early sign of juvenile delinquency. To help eliminate crime I believe we need to first target the
juveniles. It starts at an early age and continues from there.
What exactly is juvenile delinquency? It is a violation of the law committed by a juvenile and not
punishable by death or life imprisonment. We must first decipher the difference between a child
being a child and playing little pranks and a child doing something that is punishable by law. Don't
get me wrong, sometimes children do stuff that they know they're not supposed to do and it takes
that one time for them to get caught and get in trouble by an adult or an officer. Sometimes them
getting in trouble is just an adult explaining to them that their actions are wrong. Every child has had
that happen to them when they were younger.
Early detection of juvenile delinquency can sometimes help stop a major problem before it happens.
But how are you able to detect this behavior in a child? According to the NCJRS, they have
identified a few warning signs that are of importance to pay attention to. These signs are:
"Disruptive behavior that is either much more frequent or more severe than what other children in
the same age group display." "Disruptive behavior, such as temper tantrums and aggression, that
persists beyond the "" terrible twos and threes."" And lastly, "a history of aggressive, inattentive, or
sensation–seeking behavior in the preschool years."

The Pros And Cons Of The Teen Curfew Laws
In the past few years, the juvenile crime and the safety of teenagers had lead a lot of countries to
make the teenager curfew laws. According to an article wrote by Crystal Lombardo that "The
curfew law means that who is under the age of 18 will be able to get as much adult supervision as
possible, lessening the chances to them getting involved in juvenile crime and violence" as many
cities in US enforced the curfew laws for minors to keep them safe from any danger and prevent
them from getting in any trouble, as a lot of people think that a curfew law keeps teenagers out of
trouble while others think that it prevent them from enjoying their life.

as one of the cons of curfew laws that it brings out the false sense of security that parents thinks that
it will keep them away from trouble but it may not as they can be involved in violence that comes
not only by night but anytime, Teens raised under curfew are expected to obey every one of their
parent's decision without argument so they have less of a personality comparing to Teens who are
not under curfew and they also might get culture shock making them less adaptable. There are
opinions that curfews are unconstitutional because it gives the government the right to interfere with
a person's life and privacy and personal opinions which would affect them badly.
So the contradiction between the pros and cons of the curfew laws still the same, some people
believe that the curfew laws is better to be applied in our life because it has a lot of advantage in
which it ensures teenagers safety and make them responsible about things in their life, while other
thinks that it hinder maturity of their children and impose autocratic parents by losing sight over
their children by not be in their life. The side I think is more correct that curfew law isn't that
important because it's a job that supposed to be done by the parents not the

America's Juvenile Justice System Essay
The Juvenile Justice system, since its conception over a century ago, has been one at conflict with
itself. Originally conceived as a fatherly entity intervening into the lives of the troubled urban
youths, it has since been transformed into a rigid and adversarial arena restrained by the demands of
personal liberty and due process. The nature of a juvenile's experience within the juvenile justice
system has come almost full circle from being treated as an adult, then as an unaccountable child,
now almost as an adult once more.
Studies and anecdotes have shown that our modern approach, however, is ill–equipped to reduce
crime or deal with chronic delinquents while at the same time protecting their due liberties. We now

Colonists placed their children either in the homes of others or, as technology enabled the industrial
revolution, in factories and other locations of modern industry near the home. Writes Feld, ?The
coterminous location of home and workplace and the limited range of occupations enabled young
people to learn most of their required economic skills either from their parents or from surrounding
adults and quickly to achieve adult productivity,? (21). More importantly, children from a relatively
young age were expected to assume adult culpability for crimes they committed. Punishments for
children rivaled those for adults.
As time marched on, childhood became a socially constructed stage of life. Coupled with a rise in
the traditional family view of domesticity (men at work, women isolated as homemakers), new
concepts of child rearing took hold in the middle and upper classes. Instead of exposing children to
the world, ?Deferral of adult responsibilities rather than assumption of adult roles became the child–
rearing norm,? writes Feld (30). The ?child saving? movement worked to segregate children from
society both directly and indirectly. These protective measures were based chiefly on middle class,
protestant, white, rural idealists who viewed childhood as a stage of moral immaturity and
impressionability. ?Progressive reformers implemented a variety of child–saving strategies

The Effects Of Juvenile Delinquency On Teens
It is very normal in the cities that shown these crime rates have been rapidly increasing. Usually it
has been occurred in rural or urban areas. Increase of population in urban shows poverty, unstable,
underdevelopment, deficiency and lack of housing areas. Theses can also affect teens that increase–
doing crimes in which it called juvenile delinquency. There are two terms that define juvenile
delinquency, 1: conduct by a juvenile characterized by antisocial behavior that is a beyond parental
control and therefore subject to legal action; 2: a violation of law committed by a juvenile and not
punishable by death or live imprisonment. (Cite). In this topic, I will explain more about family
factors in which it has major influence on teens such as the way parents discipline a child, parental
conflict or separation, parental abuse or neglect or criminal parents or siblings. What has causes
children to act out? It could be because they want some attention or misbehave when they are afraid.
They misbehave when they also feel bad about themselves and learn bad behaviors by copying you.
There will be four articles that I summarized that related with juvenile and give out some resources
to prevent juvenile delinquency.
The family home conditions are one of the reasons why teens have become juvenile delinquency.
These are poverty and unemployment, material deficiencies, broken homes, immoral and delinquent
parents, lack of parental care and affection and bad example. The poverty and

Learning how to communicate is often overlooked but its an essential skill for anyone. An example
of how important this truly is would be a job interview. Everyone at some point will have to
interview for a job to support themselves and their family. At most interviews, employers are
looking for people who seem to communicate well with others and can present themselves by
communicating their attributes. These communications skills that are necessary aren't easy to come
by. Although one may think it would be easy, many people wont be able to successfully land a job
because of communication. One person may be the most qualified, but if you can not communicate
well then it will not matter. After school programs can also socially benefit a child. Programs are
often designed to teach a child how to be a leader as well as a team player. Throughout one's life

the first grade, Ricky is unable to read independently, however, his teacher is not concerned. I, on
the contrary, am concerned, so I made the choice for Ricky to receive tutoring twice a week. While
receiving assistance in reading and writing, I have emphasized to the tutor how I wish for them to
praise and practice private speech with Ricky. Private speech is when the child speaks to themselves
when completing a task, reading a passage, and more. Ricky can practice this tactic with his tutor
through reading out loud, stating all the steps necessary to complete the activity and more verbal
actions. My choice for Ricky practicing private speech is because Berk and Meyers state, "Children
who freely use private speech during a challenging activity are more attentive and involved and
show better task performance" (323). Ricky's increased engaged attitude and attentiveness will allow
him to perform better, therefore improving his reading skills. When I was around Ricky's age, I was
diagnosed as dyslexic and I fear that he will have this learning disability. I, too, was unable to read
independently in the first grade, however, my choice for Ricky to practice private speech will assist
in his academic performance. However, I am embracing the influence of nature for Ricky, because

Children Dealing with Life and Death
Most children ponder the thought of what life would be like without their parents. They imagine
how amazing and fun a life filled with jokes and no rules would be. Not even having to go to school
if you did not want to. Except this is not how life works. When a parent dies and the reality sets in, it
quickly shows us that life is not all fun and games. The death of a parent is a devastating reality for
any young child to bare. This abrupt reality may have long lasting effects as each child has their own
unique way of perceiving life's events. In the blink of an eye ones world may be completely twisted
around. This kind of tragedy has the ability to shape a child in both negative and positive ways.
They are now faced with the task of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another type of death is one by tragedy that can be unexpected and can be more devastating than
prolonged death in that it occurs suddenly and without notice. More often than not parents die
unexpectedly and their children are left behind in a big scary world with no guidelines on how to
survive. In part this is because parents do not expect to die while their child or children are still
young. Planning ahead for the future can be difficult for parents emotionally as well as culturally
and in some cases even financially. Initially when a parent dies it seems as if they have all the
support in the world by people who love them. Most people seem to think that after a year or more
children should be well adjusted, happy and have made it through their traumatic loss. A child's
perspective may seem different in fact they may feel more alone. A child named Abby had this to
say about that topic "The pain got worse! Because the initial shock wears off, people stop coming to
your house, and you are left....with yourself" (Simon, Johnson 49). What most people do not realize
is that they still are not okay.
No one can completely prepare for the unknown when a child loses a parent no one can predict how
each child will grieve. The caretaker of the child who is grieving has the responsibility of trying to
understand the child's thoughts or questions. When a child's parent has died adjusting to a new way
of life can be extremely difficult

Give Examples of/Describe Current Legislation, Guidelines;...
There are several pieces of legislation today that play an important role in the safeguarding of
children and young people within the care setting. The most well–known of these is the Children's
Act 1989, and the revision of it in 2004, which includes the Every Child Matter policies.
The Children's Act 1989 came into full force in the latter months of 1991 and introduced several
new key principles that included:
The concept of Parental Responsibility;
The ability for unmarried parents to share the responsibility of caring for the child by agreement
with the other parent (predominantly the father getting agreement from the mother), though joint
registration at birth and a court order;
The local authority to provide support and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is why the following pieces of legislation have also come into form and are used alongside one
another to ensure a child is safe and protected:
Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006, which ensures children with learning difficulties or
disabilities are not discriminated against and receive the same protection and safeguarding as any
other child;
Children and Young Peoples Act 2008, which ensures all children and young people receive social
work services, accommodation, well–being, education, money and protection orders – all of which
ensure the child is safe and looked after;
Working Together to Safeguard Children, which came out of the Children's Act 2004 and sets out
how organisations (such as SACCS) and individuals should work together to safeguard and promote
the child's welfare.
As well as all of the above, within the SACCS company there is a specific piece of legislation that
focuses on safeguarding. This is the Safeguarding Policy 19.1. The aim of this policy is: "to support
the achievement of successful safeguarding from harm of the children in [our] care according to
company protocols and procedures and in compliance with UK legislation"[5]. The idea of the
policy is to ensure the five Every Child Matters outcomes are being met (7 for the Welsh children
within the company), and that the 24 outcomes of the SACCS Recovery

Children at home and abroad
There are a growing number of concerns in the nation. All of which are focused so heavily on by
news and media outlets that even the most serious of issues are overlooked. One of these topics is
child prostitution, and its an epidemic that's propelled by inadequate orphanages, ineffective laws,
and a demand in commercial sex. Even places like the UK and America are no strangers to the
underage sex industry.
In London there's a dark alley along Edgeware road where the city likes to turn a blind eye. An
average night there will cost you from six to fifteen pounds. Men make up a large portion of the
patrons but the business there is no stranger to the opposite sex. Children walk about and the only
distinction between them and regular orphans is the following word; "Business?"
There's no secret to child prostitution, it's been around since perverts first decided thirteen was a ripe
age for womanhood. The lines get a little hazy trying to figure out when the "council of child
molesters" said "let's go younger", but the general idea is that it happened sometime after society
looked into "age of consent". For most it's a thick brush stroke, clear and unmistakable, painted in
the pages of the law, purposed to protect the innocent. For the "council men" it's a barrier they're
compelled to penetrate, an innocence that needs to be reaped.
How do children find themselves in that situation to begin with? Run–aways and

Children 's Influence On Children
Before children were sent to Canada they received some education as well as some training. Only
the children who were in good physical health as well as demonstrated a good personal character
were chosen to go to Canada. Children gave consent to be sent they had the option to say 'no' to the
trip, however with promises of a better life and the ability to help develop the new country, the trip
seemed like an adventure to many. Children did not understand what they were agreeing to. They
were usually more than willing to set sail across the ocean. Children were generally given new
outfits, a pair of shoes, a trunk, bible and a book of rules to start their voyage. Once the children

British children tended to be smaller and less skilled than Canadian children. The lack of skills was
mainly because they came from urban areas in Britain which did not have farming. One agent
reports that out of her 1304 placements 290 children were returned. With the constant bouncing
between the homes children had a difficult time becoming attached. As part of the placement
contract, families were required to file a report every three months with updates of the child such as
health, progress and conduct. These reports were all too often not filed or they were untruthful
leaving out the mistreatment towards the child. The children were also bound by contract, usually
until age ten children would be looked after in a program called boarding out. This program gave the
foster family five dollars a month to keep the child and they had to allow him or her to attend
school. Once the child was ten and above they worked for the family in exchange for their board,
food and clothing that was provided. At the age of fourteen to fifteen children began working for a
small wage. At this stage they paid their own board, clothing and food. Until age eighteen the

the Rights of the Child 1989 is legislation that exists but does not form part of English law.
Although it is not English law Governments have said that they are bound by this convention. Its
purpose is to ensure children are kept safe and looked after. Children have the right to be protected
from violence, neglect, abuse, maltreatment by those people looking after them. Working Together
to Safeguard Children (2010) sets out the guidelines on how the setting and individuals should work
to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people. This is in conjunction with the
Children Act 1989 and the Children Act 2004. This document covers what to do when there are
concerns about a child and the correct procedures to follow. In addition it states the roles and
responsibilities of different agencies and practitioners, summary of the nature and impact of child
abuse, training requirements for effective child protection and how to best operate best practice in
child protection procedure. The Children Act 2004 alongside Every Child Matters (published
December 2004) set out the Government's direction for 150 local programmes of change to be led

Child G And The Main Components Of The Phonetic Stage
Child G is 6 years old female and her parents express that she enjoys writing both in school and at
home. Her older sister goes to sleepaway camp during the summer months and so in this piece of
writing Child G talks about her weekend at her sister's camp reunion. This writing is part of a
weekly classroom activity, 'weekend news'. According to Gentry's five stages of spelling
development, Child G's writing suggests she is in the phonetic stage, with some examples of
transitional writing present (Gentry, 1982). In this piece of writing, the spelling of words has been
based on the sounds they hear, one of the main components of the phonetic stage. This is most
evident in the way she has spelt 'reunion,' as 'reyouyen.' This may be understood better by child G
with the use of syllable games, such as clapping as saying words aloud to hear how many syllables
are present. However, Child G does show knowledge of the rules with regards to words ending in 'e,'
which is evident in 'side.' The National Curriculum states that children of this age should understand
such rule (Department for Education, 2013a), which indicates that Child G is progressing into the
transitional stage, and is starting to become less dependent on sounds when writing (Wyse et al.
2013). In order for Child G to sit comfortably in the transitional stage the child's teachers and
parents/carers could use several methods. The 'Look–Cover–Say–Write–Check' method is a popular
technique adopted in schools, an

Home Message For Children And Parents
A key take home message is that preschool children (ages 3–4) need to engage in 60 minutes of
physical activity a day, in order to enhance their health and well–being (Gabbard & Rodrigues,
2008; Canada Sport for Life, 2005; Oliver et al., 2007). However, this message is more aimed at the
parents of preschool children, because it is their responsibility to ensure that their child is
participating in an adequate amount of exercise (Klesges et al., 1990). Parents have demonstrated a
positive correlation to the physical activity of their children (Klesges et al., 1990). Therefore, those
parents that provide their children with a lack of encouragement, will notice decreased physical
activity among their children (Klesges et al., 1990). Consequently, parents need to support their
children to engage in 60 minutes of physical activity a day, in order to improve their health.
This is an important message for children and parents, as it aims to enhance the well–being and
health of preschool–aged children (Oliver et al., 2007). Participating in regular physical activity
improves bone health, aerobic fitness, and it is beneficial for the development of fundamental motor
skills (Oliver et al., 2007). Bone health is increased due to physical activity, because exercise
provides bones with more strength. This is important because as you get old your bones weaken,
however if you begin exercising during preschool years, you have a higher chance of making
physical activity a habit, which will

Repercussions Of Children In A Motherless Home
We have heard of children who are raised without a father in the home, but I want to bring attention
to another, more rare issue, children being raised without a mother in the home.
A letter to the editor, published in The New York Times, on May 1, 1994, states, "That in 1988, the
last year for which the Social Security Administration collected data showing that 588,000 children
under the age of 18 had lost their mothers to death –– a figure that doesn't even begin to include
those families where mothers are absent due to divorce, abandonment, alcoholism, mental
impairment and imprisonment" (NY Times).
No matter the many reasons a child can be motherless, the effects can be life changing. Beth Azar
with the American Psychological Association says that, "Children without mothers in the household
can have damaging effect including but not limited to insecurities, angst, doubt and hesitance about
the world around them. Insecure attachments can negatively impact children psychologically and
socially throughout all stages of development and into adulthood" (www.refrence.com–social
science and psychology).
What exactly are some of the repercussions of child in a motherless home? A motherless child can
be less likely to develop bonds with other people than the fatherless child. The child can have
increased anxiety. Children who come from a motherless home can feel deserted and mourn the loss
of their mom or the unknown, and are at a higher risk of isolation with kids who

the forefront of decisions; the best option in relation to the child's welfare will be taken into account

If any one of these targets were not being met, today, some agencies could potentially review a
child's safety under this current legislation. A second part of this new legislation was the
encouragement of multi–agencies to work together – this idea came as a direct consequence of the
failings in relation to Victoria Climbie. With this, a database accessible by all authorities involved
with children and young people was set up so that records can be maintained effectively and
information can be shared easily. Finally, based on the initiative of agencies working together to
support children and young people, Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCB's) were created
within LEA's. In my setting, each planning sheet that teachers use has the five points from ECM
written on it, as a constant reminder to include each child in the lesson and differentiate accordingly
in order to reach all abilities. The five points of ECM are also on display boards/walls in most
classrooms. In class, we were put into groups and had to present an act to the rest of the class and
state how it works in school today. Me and Anne presented the childrens act 1989 which is shown

Home For Peculiar Children
Reading these short stories in class I have noticed that there are many similarities between Miss
Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and the gothic short stories. I believe that "Feather Pillow",
"The Masque of Red Death", and "Black Cat" relate to my outside reading book the most because
they have similar gothic elements that are presented in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
As I was reading "Feather Pillow" I thought that it related to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar
Children because the story involved a monster that was killing an innocent woman. In the "Feather
Pillow" the parasite "had stealthily applied its mouth–its snout, rather–to her temples, sucking out
her blood" (Quiroga 2). I think that this story relates to my outside reading book because in both
stories an innocent person is killed by a blood–sucking monster. In Miss Peregrine's Home for
Peculiar Children Jacob "could not close his eyes without seeing it–that tentacle mouth horror in the
woods" (Riggs 35). Abe and Alicia both died an unfortunate death by a gruesome beast, the only
difference between the two is that Abe knew that someone was coming for him, and Alicia had no ...

statement nasty was the word choice that Riggs chose, his use of adjectives to describe Abe's
wounds were absolutely revolting, yet amazing at the same time. In "The Masque of Red Death" the
death plague caused "sharp pains, and sudden dizziness, and then profuse bleeding at the pores"

Juveniles navigate through a corrections system that is constantly changing. This research paper is
dedicated to those that work with the youth through prevention and detection, rehabilitation, and
establishing a future for juvenile justice. I will be focusing on what causes youth to become
involved in the juvenile justice system, how we can help them get back on track and how to keep
them moving forward in the right direction. In addition, the rehabilitation of the juveniles is
fundamental to their success– how it is determined whether they are eligible for rehabilitation
services and how the methods are decided will be key to the final determination on success. Finally,
through research on the various ways we currently educate and reprimand our youth, I will be
identifying how effective we currently are and what we can do differently to become more effective.

Home For Peculiar Children
Gothic literature is definitely not the average children book style of writing where everyone gets
their happy ending. Authors of the gothic literature genre frequently use gothic elements such as
monsters, the supernatural, and psychological issues in many of their works to provide deeper
meaning, and often make a story more personable to the reader. These particular elements are
present in some very famous writings: "The Raven," "Feather Pillow," "The Devil and Tom Walker,"
and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Monsters are a cornerstone of gothic literature as
they induce a ominous, and sinister mood. In both the novel Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar

Another gothic short story that contains frequent use of this element is "The Devil and Tom Walker"
by Washington Irving. In "The Devil and Tom Walker" Tom's wife goes missing so he ventures into
the luxurious woods where he had met the devil to look for her, but all he finds is a checked apron
with "nothing but a heart and liver tied up in it" (Irving 328). This occurs in Miss Peregrine's Home
for Peculiar Children –in one of the most integral parts– when Jacob first goes through the loop, and
is met by two people, but he is not able to see one of them. He is bewildered by this, and in disarray
he curiously asks "you're invisible" (Riggs 136) to where he is met with a reply. This also occurs
when Jacob meets Enoch for the first time and Enoch cracks one of his toy soldiers in half and
removes "a tiny, convulsing heart" (Riggs 217) from the object's chest. This is an occurrence of the
supernatural, because he is making an inanimate object animated. The authors of gothic literature
frequently use the element of the supernatural in their writings to show just how separate the worlds
that they have created are, and to make the inconceivable a

The Effects Of Home Environment On Children
Abstract
The use of child daycare has been debated endlessly. It has become hard to determine how it may
aid in the development of a child's cognition or if it hurts it instead. This is partly because of the
wide variety of types of child care and the opportunities that are given to young children.
Fortunately, measures have been created to help standardize what a daycare does and how it is run.
In this paper, several studies are assessed and the criteria that daycares are held to are evaluated. The
effect of home environment is compared to the effect of a child being at daycare during the day. It is
important to establish a high quality daycare while simultaneously engaging the child in a healthy
life at home.

("Daycare Centers," 1997–2016).
This organization in daily activities is a good characteristic of a high quality daycare center, in
which children's brains develop the most. In addition change of environment can help stimulate the
children's senses. When the group of kids takes a trip outside, they have the opportunity to express
themselves more freely and develop in ways that they wouldn't be able to inside. Lower quality
daycares that may not be as certified or even informal daycare, where a relative watches over a
child, has shown to not assist children's cognitive development as much. They may not have the
facilities to let the children go outside and therefore, they lose that advantage that kids in high
quality daycare have. Many studies have shown how certain aspects of daycare affect how children
develop cognitive including experiments in language development and the effects of informal
daycare.
Defining Quality of Daycare
Many studies by credited organizations, including the National Association for the Education of
Young Children and the American Psychological Association, have been conducted in order to
examine the effects of daycare on the cognitive development of children at or around preschool age.
It has been discovered that the quality of daycare has a somewhat influential effect on the
development of young children. As a result, high quality daycare has shown to improve the scores

Imaginative Play
sychChildren's Imaginative Play: A Descriptive Psychology Approach
Charles Kantor, Ph.D. Abstract
The significance of children's imaginative play is presented from the perspective of Descriptive
Psychology and in particular Ossorio's Dramaturgical model of persons. The fluidity of imaginative
play, the imitation of and creation of social practices and options within play as well as the
opportunity to switch roles and act according to reasons of another, contribute to the development of
judgment. The observer–critic role emerges during imaginative play as children produce, direct, and
enact their dramas. Within these scenarios, children develop competence and eligibility to be not
only status assigners but also self status assigners. During ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The self and self concept The psychoanalytic theorists (Freud, Erikson) see children playing out
negative emotions in a safe context. Children are attempting to regain control in situations of
conflict. Mead stresses the importance of role playing in children's play, which activity contributes
to a child's sense of self (Verenikina et al, 2003). Erikson (1963, p.240) in describing a young client
struggling with the wartime death of his father, a pilot, illustrates the healing value of play: "...he
was observed swooping down a hill on a bicycle, endangering, scaring, yet deftly avoiding other
children.... In watching him, and hearing the strange noises he made, I could not help thinking that
he again imagined himself to be an airplane on a bombing mission. But at the same time he gained
in playful mastery over his locomotion; he exercised circumspection in his attack, and he became an
admired virtuoso on a bicycle."

Advances in Descriptive Psychology–Vol. 9
This description of a young boy playing imaginatively illustrates elements that theorists over the
years have attributed to the value of play. His role play was distinctly social as others witnessed his
attack, and his actions increased his stature, his prestige among his friends. His ability to handle the
bike, his cognitive strength, "circumspection in his attack", as he swoops down the hill, is noted as
well. His self esteem increased to the extent that he

Home For Peculiar Children: An Analysis
We cling to our fairytales until the price for believing in them becomes to high. Replacing them for
stories and tales, legends and myths – learning, listening and hoping. Hoping for a future we know
will one day come to exist, only not knowing if it will come to exist before we cease to. Our
promises are in the words and pictures of speculative fiction. A genre of writing made to enhance
and enchant our imagination, as author Ransom Riggs has successfully done in his trilogy; Miss
Peregrines' home for Peculiar children. But, what influences and benefits does writing like his, have
on our society? And how does speculative fiction entice humanity's understanding of our future?
Ransom's novels invite the reader to join in an adventure, few authors have the talent to tell.
Characters in the books such as Jacob, Emma and Millard, enhance the novel – strengthening the
reader's bond with the characters and setting, as the descriptions toy with our emotions. Each
character with an unusual ability such as; invisibility, fire–magic and the talent of controlling
monsters, join the quest to save their home and headmistress, from the clutches of evil. The author's

children and the disappointing amount of fiction incorporated into their life. Fiction like Ransom's,

abuse. Juvenile delinquency is also caused by the way the child is getting treated at home, or the
separation of both parent and, family conflict & etc. When a parent abuse or lose communication
with the child can also cause delinquency. Crime is one thing kids younger than 18 years of age get
charged with. Most of the young teens that are in a detention center are younger than 18. Juvenile
delinquency is committed by young children, the delinquency of a minor is increasing day by day.
"We cannot always place the blame on parents. But the structure within the family household could
determine the extent of delinquency manifested by a juvenile. Family relationships, duties,
responsibilities and privileges, and the amount of control exercised over children all play roles in
forming character and influencing behavior. The attitudes and actions of parents can create an
important influence in the lives of the children". Wickliffe Joseph. "Teachers Institute".
teachersinstitute.yale.edu/curriculum/units/2000/2/00.02.07.x.html Mistreatment of the child is one
reason why younger kids are charged with juvenile delinquency. When kids are in risk of being
mistreated then they are highly in risk of being a delinquency of a minor. If a child feel like they are
being mistreated it can lead to a child getting into lots of trouble because they feel like nobody cares
about them so you have to show love & affection to that child so they want feel like you don't care
about them. A child parents in strong figure in their life, if the parent is supposed to tech the child
the right behavior & to respect other. If a child feels like they are being mistreated then in can lead
them to becoming a juvenile delinquency. When parents are going through something they shouldn't
take it out on their child or make the child feel like he/she have to stop their life because of a family
conflict. Sometimes when post parents are going through something they show how they feel right
in front or the child so it make the wonders, like "am

To prevent juvenile delinquency, measures like sensitisation campaigns for parents' awareness
should be introduced. This is so, so as they could talk to their children when they are still of tender
age to avoid delinquent behaviour when they grow elder. Parents should minimise their spare time
for their children. As responsible parents, they should monitor the types of people their wards are

  • 9. Juvenile Delinquency Is Participation Of Illegal Behavior... Juvenile Delinquency is participation of illegal behavior by minors. Although it is no single path to juvenile delinquency, the presence of several risk factors often increases a youth's chance of offending. Risk factors have been defined as those characteristics, variables, or hazards that, if present for a given individual, make it more likely that this individual, rather than someone selected from the general population, will develop a disorder(May 2014). Risk factors predict an increased probability of later offending but it is true that certain protective factors may work to offset risk factors. To determine this, an assessment is given to the juvenile. This risk assessment will configure the type of intervention that will best suit the individual youth needs in order to decrease their risk of offending. The top three key social factors that contribute to juvenile delinquency in the 21st Century are family, peers, and community. In this paper I will focus on the different aspects of each top key social factor and the affects it will have on the juvenile. Family is the biggest influence for early on–set juvenile delinquency risk factors, primarily affecting children 6–11 years of age (Shader). Children learn basic concepts about good and bad from their family; they make their values and set the norm for society. Majority of the adolescents who show delinquent behaviors at an early age in any form come from families that could not give firm foundations to the children. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Juvenile Delinquency Is An Integral Part Of Criminology The greatest asset a nation has is in the form of children which form a major portion of its population. So they should be allowed and provided opportunity to become robust citizens, and to grow up physically fit, mentally alert and morally healthy, being sufficiently endowed with skills and activations needed by the society. Equal opportunities for development to all children during the period of growth should be provided for reducing inequality and ensuring social justice, which in turn would serve as an effective tool to curb delinquency in juveniles. Children are expected to be obedient, respectful and imbibe virtues and good quality in them. Due to various reasons children do not follow settled social and legal dictum. Juvenile delinquency, as a legal concept is of recent origin. Juvenile delinquency is an integral part of criminology. The two cannot be separated since one of the reasons for crime and its continuance into adult life is the ineffective control and treatment of juveniles. Juvenile delinquency is a big breading centre of criminals. The word delinquency is derived from the Latin word "delinquere" meaning de i.e. away and linquere i.e. to leave thus, meaning to leave or to abandon. Originally, the word had an objective meaning as it referred to parents who neglected and abandoned their children. In present day, it is used and applied to those children who indulge in wrongful and harmful activities. The term juvenile delinquency applies to violation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Children 's Socialization And Control Of Children Before... 1. What role did the family play in the socialization and control of children before the 1800s? During the Middle Ages and through the 1500s and 1600s, the family served as the primary unit of social control. Within the family, power was typically vested in the father, and the mother and the children were expected to obey his commands. However, the nuclear family of today was relatively rare in the middle ages. Rather, a typical family consisted of an extended group of related people and other individuals who were not related. The father, particularly if he was a merchant, might spend considerable time away from the home. High mortality rates meant that either parent might have died and been replaced by a stepparent. In addition, servants, apprentices, and journeymen sometimes lived in the household, and neighbors were often present. Consequently, children were exposed to a large number of adults who played a role in their socialization and control. 2. What role did children play in the colonization of the New World? Children were counted on to play an important role in the expansion of European influence and became an integral part of plans to colonize the New World. Indeed, for some people, the colonization of the New World was viewed as an opportunity for children to be involved in productive work. Merchants saw children as potential providers of the labor that would be needed to produce the many goods necessary for survival in the colonies. Some people felt that work was ... • 38. Children With A Single Parent Home Today children that are raised in a single parent home are viewed differently than those who have both parents when being raised. Many think that having both parents at home is very important and the ideal family. "In the world today more than a third of the population is being raised with only a mother. These calculations have doubled over time and keeps growing as the days go on (Anderson, 2013)." Some say that being raised by only one parent is impossible, but by statistics it is proven wrong. It is more common for children to be raised with only one parent than it is for them to have both parents under one roof. Many parents get divorced, or one gets deathly sick or passes away. Others just leave there children because they don't want them or simply can't provide for the child. Children grow emotionally stable and well off whether they have one or two parents at home to show them how life goes and the right paths to take. There are many problems and challenges when a child is raised by only one parent versus having both a mother and a father. Does a child need both parents to live in the society we have today? Does a single parent get any help when raising a child alone? When researching and gathering evidence this topic has become an intriguing argument all around the world today. What do you really need when raising a child properly? When properly raising a child it doesn't really matter how the structure of the family is, it should be based on the values and morals ... In 2008 the United States police arrested about 2.11 million juveniles. Juvenile arrest rates had increased in 2005 and again in 2006. Data show increases in some offense categories but declines in most. Most changes being less than 10% in either direction. According to the data arson at 47% is one of the biggest crimes that juveniles commit. Following are robbery at 27%, burglary at 27%, and property crimes at 26%. Juveniles are creating more problems for parents, schools, and communities. In 2007 juvenile courts dealt with a large amount of juvenile delinquents. Research has shown that from a family of four or more children are more likely to become juvenile delinquents than those who come from a three or less children homes. This research is important because understanding what makes a juvenile delinquent is necessary to know. Parents can be educated on what is affecting their teen to contribute to delinquent behavior. The family structure has been avoided by many citizens. Educating the public on the family structure can make a different in a teen's life. Social Scientist started to examine the family structure when they began to notice a high divorce rate that began in the 1960s. They wanted to know how divorce was affecting children mentally and if they were more likely to commit crimes than those who had both parents. Social scientist studies began to show that children who come from divorced parents tend to have more academic, behavioral, and emotional problems. When parents decide to divorce or separate, the child or children begin to stress because they know that everything is going to change and this can cause fear among the child. Studies have shown that a few children begin to adapt to their parents separation. However, more than one–third of children were clinically depressed, failing in school, had low social communication, were unable to sleep and eat, and hoped that one day their parents would get back together. • 46. Persuasive Essay On Juvenile Delinquency Suzzie and her two friends are outside playing around when Suzzie decides that she want to play doorbell ditching. So eventually they go around the neighborhood and get a few houses playing doorbell ditching. When they approached their last house that owner caught them. Suzzie explained to him that they were playing pranks because they were bored and the neighbor told them he did the same thing when he was younger so he understands. It would be different if Suzzie and her friends were bored and they decided to torture a cat for the fun of it. At a young age, it was normal to do little pranks such as doorbell ditching or throwing water balloons at people. Those actions are not considered mischievous behavior. On the other hand, Suzzie and her friends torturing a cat could be an early sign of juvenile delinquency. To help eliminate crime I believe we need to first target the juveniles. It starts at an early age and continues from there. What exactly is juvenile delinquency? It is a violation of the law committed by a juvenile and not punishable by death or life imprisonment. We must first decipher the difference between a child being a child and playing little pranks and a child doing something that is punishable by law. Don't get me wrong, sometimes children do stuff that they know they're not supposed to do and it takes that one time for them to get caught and get in trouble by an adult or an officer. Sometimes them getting in trouble is just an adult explaining to them that their actions are wrong. Every child has had that happen to them when they were younger. Early detection of juvenile delinquency can sometimes help stop a major problem before it happens. But how are you able to detect this behavior in a child? According to the NCJRS, they have identified a few warning signs that are of importance to pay attention to. These signs are: "Disruptive behavior that is either much more frequent or more severe than what other children in the same age group display." "Disruptive behavior, such as temper tantrums and aggression, that persists beyond the "" terrible twos and threes."" And lastly, "a history of aggressive, inattentive, or sensation–seeking behavior in the preschool years." First things first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Originally conceived as a fatherly entity intervening into the lives of the troubled urban youths, it has since been transformed into a rigid and adversarial arena restrained by the demands of personal liberty and due process. The nature of a juvenile's experience within the juvenile justice system has come almost full circle from being treated as an adult, then as an unaccountable child, now almost as an adult once more. Colonists placed their children either in the homes of others or, as technology enabled the industrial revolution, in factories and other locations of modern industry near the home. Writes Feld, ?The coterminous location of home and workplace and the limited range of occupations enabled young people to learn most of their required economic skills either from their parents or from surrounding adults and quickly to achieve adult productivity,? (21). More importantly, children from a relatively young age were expected to assume adult culpability for crimes they committed. Punishments for children rivaled those for adults. As time marched on, childhood became a socially constructed stage of life. Coupled with a rise in the traditional family view of domesticity (men at work, women isolated as homemakers), new concepts of child rearing took hold in the middle and upper classes. Instead of exposing children to the world, ?Deferral of adult responsibilities rather than assumption of adult roles became the child– rearing norm,? writes Feld (30). The ?child saving? movement worked to segregate children from society both directly and indirectly. These protective measures were based chiefly on middle class, protestant, white, rural idealists who viewed childhood as a stage of moral immaturity and impressionability. ?Progressive reformers implemented a variety of child–saving strategies ... Increase of population in urban shows poverty, unstable, underdevelopment, deficiency and lack of housing areas. Theses can also affect teens that increase– doing crimes in which it called juvenile delinquency. There are two terms that define juvenile delinquency, 1: conduct by a juvenile characterized by antisocial behavior that is a beyond parental control and therefore subject to legal action; 2: a violation of law committed by a juvenile and not punishable by death or live imprisonment. (Cite). In this topic, I will explain more about family factors in which it has major influence on teens such as the way parents discipline a child, parental conflict or separation, parental abuse or neglect or criminal parents or siblings. What has causes children to act out? It could be because they want some attention or misbehave when they are afraid. They misbehave when they also feel bad about themselves and learn bad behaviors by copying you. There will be four articles that I summarized that related with juvenile and give out some resources to prevent juvenile delinquency. The family home conditions are one of the reasons why teens have become juvenile delinquency. These are poverty and unemployment, material deficiencies, broken homes, immoral and delinquent parents, lack of parental care and affection and bad example. The poverty and ... All throughout Ricky's life I have worked on his intelligence, morals, and social skills so he can become a valuable member of society. In regards to Ricky's intelligence, I have worked on his ability to read and his sleep habits which correlate with his intelligence. In regards to Ricky's morals, I have stressed the value of honesty and treating others kindly. Lastly, Ricky is practicing sociodramatic play and participating in recreational activities to gain social skills. When Ricky was born I vowed to improve his intelligence. This is now increasingly important since Ricky is in school. I have been advancing Ricky's intelligence through practicing private speech. Since kindergarten, Ricky has been having difficulty with phonological awareness and reading. Even in the first grade, Ricky is unable to read independently, however, his teacher is not concerned. I, on the contrary, am concerned, so I made the choice for Ricky to receive tutoring twice a week. While receiving assistance in reading and writing, I have emphasized to the tutor how I wish for them to praise and practice private speech with Ricky. Private speech is when the child speaks to themselves when completing a task, reading a passage, and more. Ricky can practice this tactic with his tutor through reading out loud, stating all the steps necessary to complete the activity and more verbal actions. My choice for Ricky practicing private speech is because Berk and Meyers state, "Children who freely use private speech during a challenging activity are more attentive and involved and show better task performance" (323). Ricky's increased engaged attitude and attentiveness will allow him to perform better, therefore improving his reading skills. When I was around Ricky's age, I was diagnosed as dyslexic and I fear that he will have this learning disability. I, too, was unable to read independently in the first grade, however, my choice for Ricky to practice private speech will assist in his academic performance. Another type of death is one by tragedy that can be unexpected and can be more devastating than prolonged death in that it occurs suddenly and without notice. More often than not parents die unexpectedly and their children are left behind in a big scary world with no guidelines on how to survive. In part this is because parents do not expect to die while their child or children are still young. Planning ahead for the future can be difficult for parents emotionally as well as culturally and in some cases even financially. Initially when a parent dies it seems as if they have all the support in the world by people who love them. Most people seem to think that after a year or more children should be well adjusted, happy and have made it through their traumatic loss. A child's perspective may seem different in fact they may feel more alone. A child named Abby had this to say about that topic "The pain got worse! Because the initial shock wears off, people stop coming to your house, and you are left....with yourself" (Simon, Johnson 49). What most people do not realize is that they still are not okay. No one can completely prepare for the unknown when a child loses a parent no one can predict how each child will grieve. All of which are focused so heavily on by news and media outlets that even the most serious of issues are overlooked. One of these topics is child prostitution, and its an epidemic that's propelled by inadequate orphanages, ineffective laws, and a demand in commercial sex. Even places like the UK and America are no strangers to the underage sex industry. In London there's a dark alley along Edgeware road where the city likes to turn a blind eye. An average night there will cost you from six to fifteen pounds. Men make up a large portion of the patrons but the business there is no stranger to the opposite sex. Children walk about and the only distinction between them and regular orphans is the following word; "Business?" There's no secret to child prostitution, it's been around since perverts first decided thirteen was a ripe age for womanhood. The lines get a little hazy trying to figure out when the "council of child molesters" said "let's go younger", but the general idea is that it happened sometime after society looked into "age of consent". For most it's a thick brush stroke, clear and unmistakable, painted in the pages of the law, purposed to protect the innocent. For the "council men" it's a barrier they're compelled to penetrate, an innocence that needs to be reaped. How do children find themselves in that situation to begin with? Run–aways and ... Working Together to Safeguard Children (2010) sets out the guidelines on how the setting and individuals should work to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people. This is in conjunction with the Children Act 1989 and the Children Act 2004. This document covers what to do when there are concerns about a child and the correct procedures to follow. In addition it states the roles and responsibilities of different agencies and practitioners, summary of the nature and impact of child abuse, training requirements for effective child protection and how to best operate best practice in child protection procedure. The Children Act 2004 alongside Every Child Matters (published December 2004) set out the Government's direction for 150 local programmes of change to be led by local authorities and also their key partners. The purpose of the published document Every Child Matters is to set the national ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shape shifting teachers! What more could you ask for in a book. The book is most definitely for those dark fantasy book lovers, moreover it helps if you happen to know/like the author; Ransom Riggs. The book surrounds a boy named Jacob conversely the plot follows him throughout the book as him trying to find answers after what occurred to his grandfather. My most definite favorite part in the book is when Jacob is when Jacob flips off the policeman that was interviewing him around the very beginning of the book. • 106. Child G And The Main Components Of The Phonetic Stage Child G is 6 years old female and her parents express that she enjoys writing both in school and at home. Her older sister goes to sleepaway camp during the summer months and so in this piece of writing Child G talks about her weekend at her sister's camp reunion. This writing is part of a weekly classroom activity, 'weekend news'. According to Gentry's five stages of spelling development, Child G's writing suggests she is in the phonetic stage, with some examples of transitional writing present (Gentry, 1982). In this piece of writing, the spelling of words has been based on the sounds they hear, one of the main components of the phonetic stage. This is most evident in the way she has spelt 'reunion,' as 'reyouyen.' This may be understood better by child G with the use of syllable games, such as clapping as saying words aloud to hear how many syllables are present. However, Child G does show knowledge of the rules with regards to words ending in 'e,' which is evident in 'side.' The National Curriculum states that children of this age should understand such rule (Department for Education, 2013a), which indicates that Child G is progressing into the transitional stage, and is starting to become less dependent on sounds when writing (Wyse et al. 2013). In order for Child G to sit comfortably in the transitional stage the child's teachers and parents/carers could use several methods. The 'Look–Cover–Say–Write–Check' method is a popular technique adopted in schools, an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Home Message For Children And Parents A key take home message is that preschool children (ages 3–4) need to engage in 60 minutes of physical activity a day, in order to enhance their health and well–being (Gabbard & Rodrigues, 2008; Canada Sport for Life, 2005; Oliver et al., 2007). However, this message is more aimed at the parents of preschool children, because it is their responsibility to ensure that their child is participating in an adequate amount of exercise (Klesges et al., 1990). Parents have demonstrated a positive correlation to the physical activity of their children (Klesges et al., 1990). Therefore, those parents that provide their children with a lack of encouragement, will notice decreased physical activity among their children (Klesges et al., 1990). Consequently, parents need to support their children to engage in 60 minutes of physical activity a day, in order to improve their health. This is an important message for children and parents, as it aims to enhance the well–being and health of preschool–aged children (Oliver et al., 2007). Participating in regular physical activity improves bone health, aerobic fitness, and it is beneficial for the development of fundamental motor skills (Oliver et al., 2007). Bone health is increased due to physical activity, because exercise provides bones with more strength. This is important because as you get old your bones weaken, however if you begin exercising during preschool years, you have a higher chance of making physical activity a habit, which will ... • 114. Repercussions Of Children In A Motherless Home We have heard of children who are raised without a father in the home, but I want to bring attention to another, more rare issue, children being raised without a mother in the home. A letter to the editor, published in The New York Times, on May 1, 1994, states, "That in 1988, the last year for which the Social Security Administration collected data showing that 588,000 children under the age of 18 had lost their mothers to death –– a figure that doesn't even begin to include those families where mothers are absent due to divorce, abandonment, alcoholism, mental impairment and imprisonment" (NY Times). No matter the many reasons a child can be motherless, the effects can be life changing. Beth Azar with the American Psychological Association says that, "Children without mothers in the household can have damaging effect including but not limited to insecurities, angst, doubt and hesitance about the world around them. Insecure attachments can negatively impact children psychologically and socially throughout all stages of development and into adulthood" (www.refrence.com–social science and psychology). What exactly are some of the repercussions of child in a motherless home? A motherless child can be less likely to develop bonds with other people than the fatherless child. The child can have increased anxiety. Children who come from a motherless home can feel deserted and mourn the loss of their mom or the unknown, and are at a higher risk of isolation with kids who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many policies and procedures within the UK that outline the current legislation and guidelines to help with safeguarding children and young people. The Children Act 1989 The integral part of this act is to maintain the child is at the forefront of decisions; the best option in relation to the child's welfare will be taken into account when deciding the best course of action for the child/young person's upbringing – creating a partnership between parents and multi–agencies. Alongside this, the requirement of parental responsibilities is outlined e.g. their rights, duties and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If any one of these targets were not being met, today, some agencies could potentially review a child's safety under this current legislation. A second part of this new legislation was the encouragement of multi–agencies to work together – this idea came as a direct consequence of the failings in relation to Victoria Climbie. With this, a database accessible by all authorities involved with children and young people was set up so that records can be maintained effectively and information can be shared easily. Finally, based on the initiative of agencies working together to support children and young people, Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCB's) were created within LEA's. In my setting, each planning sheet that teachers use has the five points from ECM written on it, as a constant reminder to include each child in the lesson and differentiate accordingly in order to reach all abilities. The five points of ECM are also on display boards/walls in most classrooms. In class, we were put into groups and had to present an act to the rest of the class and state how it works in school today. Me and Anne presented the childrens act 1989 which is shown on the next page. Following that is the other groups presentation handouts on the different acts. • 122. Home For Peculiar Children Reading these short stories in class I have noticed that there are many similarities between Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and the gothic short stories. I believe that "Feather Pillow", "The Masque of Red Death", and "Black Cat" relate to my outside reading book the most because they have similar gothic elements that are presented in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. As I was reading "Feather Pillow" I thought that it related to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children because the story involved a monster that was killing an innocent woman. In the "Feather Pillow" the parasite "had stealthily applied its mouth–its snout, rather–to her temples, sucking out her blood" (Quiroga 2). I think that this story relates to my outside reading book because in both stories an innocent person is killed by a blood–sucking monster. In Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children Jacob "could not close his eyes without seeing it–that tentacle mouth horror in the woods" (Riggs 35). Abe and Alicia both died an unfortunate death by a gruesome beast, the only difference between the two is that Abe knew that someone was coming for him, and Alicia had no ... What made this statement nasty was the word choice that Riggs chose, his use of adjectives to describe Abe's wounds were absolutely revolting, yet amazing at the same time. This research paper is dedicated to those that work with the youth through prevention and detection, rehabilitation, and establishing a future for juvenile justice. I will be focusing on what causes youth to become involved in the juvenile justice system, how we can help them get back on track and how to keep them moving forward in the right direction. In addition, the rehabilitation of the juveniles is fundamental to their success– how it is determined whether they are eligible for rehabilitation services and how the methods are decided will be key to the final determination on success. Finally, through research on the various ways we currently educate and reprimand our youth, I will be identifying how effective we currently are and what we can do differently to become more effective. Sam, a four year old preschool student, has been identified as an "at–risk" child after a referral from his teacher. The student exhibits anti–social behaviors, temper tantrums and aggression toward students and teachers. How has the teacher come to the conclusion that this child was indeed "at– risk"? Who will this referral be sent to? How will this child be helped? Through studies on young children in a variety of structured settings, numerous factors have been identified that lead children to become offenders. • 130. Home For Peculiar Children Gothic literature is definitely not the average children book style of writing where everyone gets their happy ending. Authors of the gothic literature genre frequently use gothic elements such as monsters, the supernatural, and psychological issues in many of their works to provide deeper meaning, and often make a story more personable to the reader. These particular elements are present in some very famous writings: "The Raven," "Feather Pillow," "The Devil and Tom Walker," and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Monsters are a cornerstone of gothic literature as they induce a ominous, and sinister mood. In both the novel Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, and the short story "Feather Pillow by Horacio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another gothic short story that contains frequent use of this element is "The Devil and Tom Walker" by Washington Irving. In "The Devil and Tom Walker" Tom's wife goes missing so he ventures into the luxurious woods where he had met the devil to look for her, but all he finds is a checked apron with "nothing but a heart and liver tied up in it" (Irving 328). This occurs in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children –in one of the most integral parts– when Jacob first goes through the loop, and is met by two people, but he is not able to see one of them. He is bewildered by this, and in disarray he curiously asks "you're invisible" (Riggs 136) to where he is met with a reply. This also occurs when Jacob meets Enoch for the first time and Enoch cracks one of his toy soldiers in half and removes "a tiny, convulsing heart" (Riggs 217) from the object's chest. This is an occurrence of the supernatural, because he is making an inanimate object animated. The authors of gothic literature frequently use the element of the supernatural in their writings to show just how separate the worlds that they have created are, and to make the inconceivable a ... The review focuses on a number of different instruments used to prove that belonging to a broken family is the main cause for these children to possess strong character. The chapter begins with the definition of broken home, and then followed by its effects on the children. The struggles faced by these children, and their perspective in life are discussed. 2.1 RELATED LITERATURE 2.1.1 INTRODUCTION According to Collins Cobuild Advanced Dictionary of English, a home can refer to a family unit. Children from broken families are nearly five times more likely to suffer damaging mental troubles than those whose parents stay together, government research has found. It also showed that two parents are much better than one if children are to avoid slipping into emotional distress and anti–social behavior. The findings say that children's family background are as important – if not more so – than whether their home is poor, workless, has bad health, or has no one with any educational qualifications. 2.2.5 POSSIBLE EFFECTS TO THESE CHILDREN 2.2.5.1 EMOTIONAL ASPECT 2.2.5.1.1 BEING INDEPENDENT Children from broken families nowadays choose to live their life worth it. • 138. The Effects Of Home Environment On Children Abstract The use of child daycare has been debated endlessly. It has become hard to determine how it may aid in the development of a child's cognition or if it hurts it instead. This is partly because of the wide variety of types of child care and the opportunities that are given to young children. Fortunately, measures have been created to help standardize what a daycare does and how it is run. In this paper, several studies are assessed and the criteria that daycares are held to are evaluated. The effect of home environment is compared to the effect of a child being at daycare during the day. It is important to establish a high quality daycare while simultaneously engaging the child in a healthy life at home. Introduction Daycare centers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ("Daycare Centers," 1997–2016). This organization in daily activities is a good characteristic of a high quality daycare center, in which children's brains develop the most. In addition change of environment can help stimulate the children's senses. When the group of kids takes a trip outside, they have the opportunity to express themselves more freely and develop in ways that they wouldn't be able to inside. Lower quality daycares that may not be as certified or even informal daycare, where a relative watches over a child, has shown to not assist children's cognitive development as much. They may not have the facilities to let the children go outside and therefore, they lose that advantage that kids in high quality daycare have. Many studies have shown how certain aspects of daycare affect how children develop cognitive including experiments in language development and the effects of informal daycare. Defining Quality of Daycare Many studies by credited organizations, including the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the American Psychological Association, have been conducted in order to examine the effects of daycare on the cognitive development of children at or around preschool age. It has been discovered that the quality of daycare has a somewhat influential effect on the development of young children. Imaginative Play sychChildren's Imaginative Play: A Descriptive Psychology Approach Charles Kantor, Ph.D. Abstract The significance of children's imaginative play is presented from the perspective of Descriptive Psychology and in particular Ossorio's Dramaturgical model of persons. The fluidity of imaginative play, the imitation of and creation of social practices and options within play as well as the opportunity to switch roles and act according to reasons of another, contribute to the development of judgment. The observer–critic role emerges during imaginative play as children produce, direct, and enact their dramas. The self and self concept The psychoanalytic theorists (Freud, Erikson) see children playing out negative emotions in a safe context. Children are attempting to regain control in situations of conflict. Mead stresses the importance of role playing in children's play, which activity contributes to a child's sense of self (Verenikina et al, 2003). Erikson (1963, p.240) in describing a young client struggling with the wartime death of his father, a pilot, illustrates the healing value of play: "...he was observed swooping down a hill on a bicycle, endangering, scaring, yet deftly avoiding other children.... In watching him, and hearing the strange noises he made, I could not help thinking that he again imagined himself to be an airplane on a bombing mission. But at the same time he gained in playful mastery over his locomotion; he exercised circumspection in his attack, and he became an admired virtuoso on a bicycle." 259 Advances in Descriptive Psychology–Vol. 9 This description of a young boy playing imaginatively illustrates elements that theorists over the years have attributed to the value of play. His role play was distinctly social as others witnessed his attack, and his actions increased his stature, his prestige among his friends. His ability to handle the bike, his cognitive strength, "circumspection in his attack", as he swoops down the hill, is noted as well. His self esteem increased to the extent that he ... Replacing them for stories and tales, legends and myths – learning, listening and hoping. Hoping for a future we know will one day come to exist, only not knowing if it will come to exist before we cease to. Our promises are in the words and pictures of speculative fiction. A genre of writing made to enhance and enchant our imagination, as author Ransom Riggs has successfully done in his trilogy; Miss Peregrines' home for Peculiar children. But, what influences and benefits does writing like his, have on our society? And how does speculative fiction entice humanity's understanding of our future? Ransom's novels invite the reader to join in an adventure, few authors have the talent to tell. Characters in the books such as Jacob, Emma and Millard, enhance the novel – strengthening the reader's bond with the characters and setting, as the descriptions toy with our emotions. Each character with an unusual ability such as; invisibility, fire–magic and the talent of controlling monsters, join the quest to save their home and headmistress, from the clutches of evil. Juvenile Delinquency is cause by a correlation of factors including environment, parenting, social economic level, and alcohol and drug abuse. Juvenile delinquency is also caused by the way the child is getting treated at home, or the separation of both parent and, family conflict & etc. When a parent abuse or lose communication with the child can also cause delinquency. Crime is one thing kids younger than 18 years of age get charged with. Most of the young teens that are in a detention center are younger than 18. Juvenile delinquency is committed by young children, the delinquency of a minor is increasing day by day. "We cannot always place the blame on parents. But the structure within the family household could determine the extent of delinquency manifested by a juvenile. Family relationships, duties, responsibilities and privileges, and the amount of control exercised over children all play roles in forming character and influencing behavior. The attitudes and actions of parents can create an important influence in the lives of the children". Wickliffe Joseph. "Teachers Institute". teachersinstitute.yale.edu/curriculum/units/2000/2/00.02.07.x.html Mistreatment of the child is one reason why younger kids are charged with juvenile delinquency.
