Medical Benefits Of Cloning In The United States
Cloning is an up and coming medical breakthrough that will benefit the lives of everyone immensely. On the contrary, we as a nation may never be
able to experience all of what cloning technology has to offer. The governments is planning on banning or limiting the use of cloning in the United
States. Cloning can improve our means of society, and banning it will be putting the good of America on the back burner.
The medical benefits of cloning have the potential to be the greatest breakthroughs in the field ever. There are so many it's hard to just put your
finger on one. The power of cloning will allow people to be cured of diseases that have never been cured before. These diseases include Alzheimer's
disease, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This gave many people suspicion that cloned animals aged prematurely. However, a daily anti–inflammatory treatment resolved the clinical signs
within a few months. While Dolly was continuing to get better, in January of 2001, Cedric, one of the cloned sheep, died. Cedric died of Sheep
Pulmonary Adenomatosis, which is caused by a virus that induces tumors to grow in the lungs of affected animals. The virus is infectious and spread
to other sheep by close contact. Scientist immediately removed Dolly from the pen even though there was a good chance she was already infected.
Dolly did die of SPA after many, many months of the other sheep deaths. While this may seem like a negative, it is actually a common disease of
regular conceived sheep. This long and effective research experiment showed many people in the science world that cloning animals has a very bright
future.(The Roslin Institute)
Dolly was a breakthrough in science. She showed us it is possible to clone from an adult cell. Don't be fooled, it no where near perfect, but nothing is
truly perfect. Dolly gave us a base to learn and continue to improve on. Think about it, when scientist first discovered anesthesia, atomic energy, and
recombinant DNA, they started with one successful experiment and continued to improve the means of it. They could have lead to deleterious
application, but in turn it changed the entire world's way of living, just as cloning has the potential to do.( Di Berardino Marie

Essay About Moving To Canada
Before moving to Canada, I really only knew about the University of Toronto. When I told people that I was interested in computer science, the first
thing they would say was, "Have you heard about the University of Waterloo?" My teachers and peers have praised Waterloo as having one of the
best computer science programs in Ontario. This was initially why I looked further into this university. I knew that Waterloo was the place for me
after I watched a video about the university. The part that really stuck with me was the university's slogan, "Ideas start hereВ®". There are a few
reasons for this.
First of all, over the past few years, I discovered that I love designing and creating my own projects and bringing them to life. For example, I enjoy
fashion as a hobby, and I had designed several dresses in my freetime, getting inspiration from professionals in the field. The feeling I got after I held
the finished version of the dress in my hands could only be described as magic. Nothing felt more beautiful to me than seeing something I imagined on
paper being transformed little by little into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem is that I haven't gotten "The" idea, yet; the idea with which I can evolve into something real. So, when I heard "Ideas start here", I knew
that the University of Waterloo is where Iwant to attend. I crave to be surrounded by people who have the same drive for bigger and better
aspirations in this world. I know that this university is the start of phenomenal changes in the world that I want to be a part of; that I want to lead. I
have the ambition and creativity that drives change. I have the passion and work ethic to make my dreams come true. I have the strength and support I
need to overcome challenges. All that's missing is the right education in the right environment. I know there's a long journey ahead of me, but there is
no other university where I can picture myself building my future so clearly as

Pros And Cons Of Cloning
The aspect of having some living organism to have the same type of genetic information and have the same looks, is kind of a skeptical topic to talk
about. It is very much more skeptical when the living organism has the same genes as the other and one of them were not born "by nature". This
phenomenon is called cloning. Cloning creates all types of controversies within the scientists and all the population, for the things that scientist can
do with just a little piece of a cell. One of the main controversy that the world has is, why do human beings want to create life instead of having it
created by nature. This controversy has always been around since the first organism was cloned. The other controversy that has all the world really
worried is, what would happen if a human gets cloned. Cloning has all the world really nervous and concerned because they do not know what
might happen if they were to clone a human. The science that goes behind the cloning procedure is very complex and some of the college graduates
with a background of biology can perform this procedure. Cloning can have a good effect or a bad effect on society. Cloning an animal has always
been one of the most futuristic and technological advancements there has ever been in the world. Before the first mammal was cloned people thought
the day of cloning a living organism would be far long from the twentieth century, and people said that it was a futuristic thought and would never
become a reality. However,

Analysis Of Anne Shirley In Anne Of Green Gables
A Mission to Change
Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables lived without parents for most of her life and she wanted to change that. She yearned for loving parents, an
education, and a better life overall. Walt Masters in "The King of Mazy May" had a job to watch Loren Hall's claim and he found out someone
planned on jumping it. Despite being just a boy, he knew it wasn't right, and he had to do something. Jenna Boller in Rules of the Road is an average
teenager who works at a shoe store, finds out the owner's son is planning on taking over the business and change it for the worse. Jenna worked at the

Applying Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to work in assisting youth towards market demand in Timor–Leste
Introduction
Timor–Leste received independence on 30 August 1999 after a majority of the population voted for pulling out of Indonesian occupation of the
country. Life was not easy after getting the light of independence as many sectors were destroyed to the ground by the militias. An enormous
responsibility rested on people to exert efforts to reorganize everything from the ground up. The education system was highlighted as a core sector to
be improved both in quality and service within the country. Education and training are some of the main tools being used to wipe away the tears of
victims, who suffered much during the conflict. Technical–vocational education and training (TVET) is believed to be a key area which will assist in
restoring many devastated sectors which totally paralyzed the country. In early 2010, the TVET system was formally established in a national strategic
plan with a particular function in assuring, formulating and establishing the national qualification framework (NQF) (PATVET, 2011). It has been
tremendously effective through its system of competence–based training and competence–based assessment in working towards market needs. This
TVET system has evolved smoothly in Timor–Leste as it is culturally appropriate to local beliefs and is flexible in its approach. The role of the TVET
System in producing competent and qualified

The Positive Consequences Of Youth In Football
Imagine your son dashing into the kitchen as your eyes dart to meet his.His eyes evidently filled with joy as a sincere smile begins to sneak onto his
face. The excessive amount of words begin to spill from his lips as he hands you a paper that reads " Youth Football ". Although some might altercate
the negatives associated with our youth participating in football such as injuries and behavioral changes, studies show that children who participate in
football benefit in their social lives. The positive correlation between sports and my son's recreation will assemble a strong mindset, enforce discipline,as
well as building camaraderie.
According to the article, " What Life Lesson Can Be Learned From Playing Football? The author Jobe Lewis quotes, " A player must endure scrutiny
and constant evaluation". In other words, players are exposed to direct helpful feedback from their peers and coaches to improve their performance
both on and off the field (Jobe Lewis). In addition the author also mentioned," Constant reevaluations fosters growth and accountability"(Jobe Lewis).
By exposing young children to grasp the concept of responsibility at such a young age, this will allow a child to acknowledge feedback which will
positively affect them in adulthood. Our children of today will become stronger mindset individuals because of the constant exposure to feedback. Not
only will this help our children on the field, but also off the field. Various children do not seek feedback because they

In my bedroom closet, folded and tucked neatly in a box, is a blanket. At a glance, the piece of patchwork looks rather mundane. As one looks
closer, "blanket" is a rather generous word for the piece, considering it is a part of an unfinished project. So why keep this small scrap of fabric? It
provides warmth, not to my appendages, rather to my soul. The blanket itself is a rather odd shape. Small and square, it is not the right length for a
baby, much less a full grown human. Though incomplete, the work that was performed to the blanket was skillful, even beautiful. A soft floral
pattern was woven into each quilted square. Only a delicate hand would be capable of making each stitch so precise. There are nine symmetrical
squares, each the size of small napkins. Each square holds four triangles, touching on the tip, two solid blocks of color and two whimsically
patterned. The colors of the coverlet are soft yet vibrant all in the same view. Different shades of peach and pink mimic the most beautiful of flowers.

Cloning Essay
Cloning
For hundreds of years man has wondered what it would be like to clone human beings. With the idea of cloning comes many different opinions and
positions. The idea of creating an army of "super humans" has long been a dream of many people. Others have feared what would happen to the world if
cloning were possible and if cloning is morally correct. Overall, religion and ethics play a vital role in the both of these viewpoints and greatly effect
many positions on the topic of cloning. In February of 1997 Dr. Ian Wilmut, a 52–year–old embryologist at the Roslin Institute in dinburgh announced
the cloning of a lamb named Dolly 1. He had replaced the genetic material of sheep's egg with the DNA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many individuals also stated that now that the technology is available, its use is inevitable. Randolfe Wicker, a New York businessperson, founded
the Clone Rights United Front after reports of the successful cloning. His goals are to continue to push for more research and to defend people's
rights.3 These examples show the rights of the individual, but ironically many people who fight for the rights of individuals, form groups to do so. In
his Tuesday, February 25, 1997 article 'Should We Fear Dolly?' James K. Glassman, a writer for the Washington post discusses his favorable views on
cloning. He points out that cloning is something that could someday be used for treatment to cure human diseases, and the ability to produce organs for
transplanting as benefits for all of society. Also, he points out that while cloning people is against the law in other countries, it is not in the United
States. He said, "I don't think it should be –– certainly not at this stage . . . Trying to stop intellectual progress, in any form, is a terrible mistake.
Furthermore, the technology is not, in principle, policeable. In other words, you couldn't really stop research on human cloning if you wanted to." 4

We Should Not Fear Cloning Essay
We Should Not Fear Cloning
With the successful cloning of animals, many people have reacted with frightening and usually uninformed ideas about what cloning is and what
researchers hope to achieve through it. Many wish to ban all cloning without even looking at the positive things that cloning will be able to provide for
us in the future and with continued research. Like any new technology, people are at first afraid, but this is no excuse to abandon research that could one
day save millions of people through cloned organs or give an alternative and safe means of reproduction to sterile couples. This fear has only been
furthered by the media sensationalizing the advancement and tossing "Brave New World" into every headline. The... Show more content on

Cloning does indeed reduce the diversity of a herd of animals or a group of men, but there is no scientist that is suggesting that we find the "perfect"
cow and clone him a million times over. This would allow the possibility of one disease killing an entire population, which is exactly why scientists
wish to clone certain animals to augment the current gene pool. People are much the same. Science does not wish to clone the perfect person and
effectively put all of our eggs in one basket. The goal is to aide humankind, not replace it with a "better model."
Society also has a fear that one day we may see clones as only pieces of meat that happen to have genetically identical organs than us. We fear that
the clones of the future will be nothing but organ banks and mindless slaves. The answer to this fear is not outlawing any kind of cloning research, it
is to educate ourselves in the ethics of cloning and simply not allow such behavior, either through social pressures or government regulation. If we
pass legislation which completely bans cloning, the industry will simply go over seas or move to countries that have no laws on cloning or any other
type of biomedical regulations. It will be in these places that slaves and organ factories will be produced.
When Ian Wilmut of the Roslin Institute cloned the first mammal from an adult cell, he pushed human understanding and technology forward many
years. His

Essay about The Consequences of Excessive Government...
The fact that there are areas in which government is needed cannot be denied. The state collecting taxes for the provision of things such as roads,
bridges, police departments, fire departments, or even a safety net for those that fall on hard times, as long as it is well regulated are all reasonable
uses. I will also not deny that there are areas where central government intervention is needed. Regulation to prevent monopolies, ensuring segregation
of public schools and facilities, and protection of rights, to name a few, are perfectly acceptable functions of central government. Big government is
not the answer, it is actually a big part of the problem, especially when meddling with the economy. In this paper, I am going to dispute... Show more

(Cowan, 1985). The economy didn't actually turn around until Ludwig Erhard, German Economic Director, introduced monetary reform and abolished
all of the ACC economic controls (Cowan, 1985). Monthly production skyrocketed to highs not seen even after Marshall plan aid started to

performed the worst, Great Britain, actually received the most Marshall Plan aid (Bandow, 1997). Madrick also points to LBJ's Great Society, and FDR's
new deal as big government successes (McKenna & Feingold, 2012). There are many economists that can point to facts showing the New Deal actually

today the poverty level, according to the 2010 census, is at 14% (CNN Money, 2010). If government intervention in the economy is indeed a good
thing, perhaps Mr. Madrick can explain why poverty has increased since the enactment of the Great Society? Madrick believes laws that call for
higher wages and aid in unionization are good for the economy (McKenna & Feingold, 2012). The

It is known that when there is no consideration of property type, on the other hand, there is no selection of valuation method. Because, selection of
valuation method and identification of property type mostly go together. Description of the property which is the subject of a valuation report is one of
the scientific procedures of valuation (http://www.iacenig.org/CEthics.html). This is realized from the fact that for the selection of valuation method,
the available data and the type of property (commercial or residential) plays important role.
IA & CE (2008) says that, "The procedure and method for deciding a given value in question is a matter for the valuer himself to determine.
Nevertheless, better valuation practice needs that the method selected be right for the purpose, hold consideration of all the factors that have a bearing
on the value, and are presented in a clear and logical way".
There are three major types of property valuation methods and selection of the appropriate method according to the condition of the property is the
most important precondition to reach at the most accurate value of the property. Regarding this condition, 4(80%) of the expert respondents reacted as
there was no consideration of the alternative method in Gimbi town during expropriation. From this response, the researcher approved that there was no

The Negative Culture In Deborah Tannen's The Argument Culture
Words are powerful, and they are one of the primary ways we use to create perspective on our reality. The impact a single phrase or sentence can
hold, could change millions of those around us, or even in ourselves. In this case, why do we as a whole, use words to damage and bring ruin upon
our civilization that we so pride ourselves in? The notorious act of arguing seems to be the downfall of man in the most prevailing of ways, which is
captured delicately in Deborah Tannen's novel The Argument Culture. The Argument Culture directly divulges into the mysteries behind America's

This is a highly inefficient way of handling a conflict, yet it is the first we use to decide important power holding figures in our government or the

to "create" or find another opposing view to create conflict as to make their own article a more interesting read. This is where false reports of the
Holocaust never happening come in, and Deborah Tannen explains that even with numerous evidence and facts to prove that this horrendous event did
conspire, even living witnesses, the news and media still give attention to these ludicrous statements as to gather a rise of emotion out of the reader or
viewer. This argument culture limits known knowledge, like the Holocaust actually happening, rather than expanding. Effort is wasted by refuting false

Specifically, in dental x–rays, researchers have been performing studies trying to prove that radiation from x–rays in the dental office can cause cancer .

Essay about Survey of Marijuna Usage at Texas Christian...
Marijuana usage when discussed brings about debate and division no matter the forum. This is a topic that many individuals feel either one or the
other about. Very few feelings can be described as "Middle of the Road". As students at Texas Christian University we felt that in the time we were in
attendance no one had tried to measure how students felt and view Marijuana. This information could be used by organizations such as NORML; it
could help them decide whether or not pursuing a NORML chapter on TCU's campus would be worthwhile. NORML is a marijuana advocacy group

A Comparison Of Charles And Bill Koch's Sources Of Power
The term power has in different occasions been described differently depending on different areas. The areas that it would depend on are the person
that is describing it, the time in which the description is being made, and also the situation that leads to the description of the word power. A few
people have defined power as being in the position to do something even though there is some resistance. Others define power as the ability to
outmaneuver the opposing side. Due to power leads to someone's will being done, this explains why many people struggle to be a position of power.
"There are constant struggles amongst the people who want to be in the position of power, so that they can control the other people in different fields"

This kind of power comes into play when a person has the ability to influence how incentives will be allocated in an organization. This could be in
the form of salary increments, bonuses, promotions, positive appraisals, and other ways. According to Haneberg (2012), Charles has this source of
power because he greatly influences how incentives should be allocated. At some point, when he terminated Bill, he even handed out shares of stock
to company executives who were loyal to him. This shows that people within the company would want to side with him. This is just one of the few
rewards that he has utilized. The term expert power can also be seen within this company. Bill, being a chemical engineer has the expertise needed
with regard to handling the chemical activities of the company. This can be seen even with the way he came up with projects that involved the use of
chemicals, like the cholesterol–fighting drug which was called the onion pill. According to Anderson (1998), since he had this expertise he felt that

What Makes A One Stop Guide On The Landscape
A ONE STOP GUIDE ON HOW TO LANDSCAPE
It is of utmost certainty that people nowadays admire beautiful and incredibly structured gardens and home fields and back yards. Not only is it
applicable to home grounds and fields but it is also quite possible to perform landscaping techniques on any outstretched field that you may have in
mind.
To the uninitiated landscaping refers to any activity and process that directly alters and modifies natural, abstract and the living elements alike of an
outstretched area of land. That said, landscaping is an artistic activity that requires highly trained expertise in horticulture.
For living features, it requires modification of the surrounding flora and fauna of the area of land and such activities lead to growth and nurture of
plants with the intention of creating a breathtaking environment within the intended area undergoing landscaping. This is what is commonly referred
to gardening in simple terms.
Secondly, when it comes to the natural features, this entails making changes to the land's terrain, elevation and the general landforms. Finally, the
abstract features are the elements that relate to the weather and the lighting conditions of the area of land undergoing landscaping.
The landscaping process need not be a humongous and an overwhelming exercise for it is easy to manipulate and implement. It basically involves two
crucial steps i.e. landscape design and the actual landscape construction. The landscape design involves a series of

Rhetorical Analysis of "Public Thinking"
Journalist, Clive Thompson in his book, "Smarter Than You Think", specifically in the chapter titled, "Public Thinking", published on September 12,
2013, addresses the topic of technology and argues that because of the internet, we are doing more writing now than ever. Therefore technology is
helping us think publicly in new and improved ways. He supports this claim by asserting that there is an improvement in our writing, which is
happening because of the "audience effect", he then goes on to say that anything we write changes the way we think, and finally he talks about how
the internet builds connections, which is essential to the spread of new ideas. Thompson's purpose is to inform readers about how the internet is a
tool being used to advance our society in order to encourage more people to partake in online, public thinking. He adopts a contemplative tone for his
audience, the readers of The New York Times, and others interested in the topic of technology. It is my intention in this paper to analyze the author's
subclaims and use of rhetorical strategies.
In his article, Thompson claims that there is an "audience effect" which is causing an improvement in writing. While talking about the important
aspects of the increase in online writing, Thompson states that, "When you write something online–whether it's a one–sentence status update, a
comment on someone's photo, or a

Many men and women in America don't have insurance or simply cannot afford health care. Planned Parenthood does have professional doctors who
specialized in many reproductive health services. Planned Parenthood is affordable, the program takes a patient whether they have insurance or not,
not only that, they charge you by how much income you make. Low income Americans have access to these services too. "The United States
Department of Health, Education and Welfare, for example, created a federal program to provide poor, married women withbirth control. (Alan

Texas is one of the states that cut funds for Planned Parenthood. After Texas defunded the clinic, a survey of 300 pregnant women who were seeking
abortions in Texas said that they were unable to access the birth control that they wanted to use in the three months before pregnancy. (Amanda J.
Stevenson).
According to the article, "Political Attacks on Planned Parenthood Are a Threat to Women 's Health" for some people, Planned Parenthood has come to
symbolize abortion, which it has provided since 1970. But in all the rhetoric, facts have sometimes gone missing. For example, Senator Jon Kyl of
Arizona declared on the floor of the Senate that abortion accounts for "well over 90 percent" of what Planned Parenthood does. That figure is
actually 3 percent. Planned Parenthood clinics perform one in four abortions in the U.S. but use no federal funds for this practice. To some abortion
opponents, that 3 percent is reason enough to gut the organization. If a future Congress and White House were to do so, however, it would drive
women once again into the back alleys, without necessarily decreasing the number of abortions. Stripping Planned Parenthood of federal funding
would also sacrifice the 97 percent of its public health work that has nothing to do with abortion, from which many people benefit directly. One in five
American women have used the group 's services, and three out of four

Memphis Narrative
Two hours into the trip, I received a call from Dr. Neuro #1's office saying I was booked to see a neurosurgeon in Memphis, Tennessee, on Monday.
Even though it was Thursday afternoon when the receptionist asked me if I could make the appointment, I said, "Yes." I hung up and felt panic.
How was I going to get from Florida to Memphis? I was wheelchair bound and had difficulty doing anything for myself. By this point, I had to eat
with plastic forks and spoons because regular silverware was simply too heavy for me to lift. I called Rose who said she would take me to Memphis
once we returned home and not to worry. She said she would work it all out. Kevin and I continued our trip to Florida.

Abortion : A Controversial Topic
Abortion–what a controversial topic it can be. It is something that people are either for or against and not many in–between. It is a taboo of sorts, but as
time goes on, it seems to only be a taboo if you are against abortion, not for it. Mainly because if you are against abortion then you are clearly against
women's rights in general. To be for abortion is "all the rage" these days because our society is so focused on equality, and all things equality.
However, while we are fighting for equal rights, we are not even taking into consideration the victims, both of them. Now believe me, I am all about
equality for women, after all, I am a woman, but a woman killing her child is not something in the equality battle. In the case of ... Show more content

However, no matter how humane us big humans try to make it seem, you just cannot hide the simple fact that you are killing a child; an innocent,
precious tiny human being. At this point, you can probably tell my stance on this issue–against, I am against abortion in every case. In this paper I want
to hone in and focus on the effects of abortion in women aged 20–29 years of age. I will be looking into the physical, mental, and emotional effects on
the women, the statistics that play into the reasoning behind the abortion and give some baseline statistics. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention), "[w]omen aged 20–29 years accounted for 57.1% of all abortions reported in 2008 and for the majority of abortions during
the entire period of analysis (1999––2008). In 2008, women aged 20––29 years also had the highest abortion rates (29.6 abortions per 1,000 women
aged 20––24 years and 21.6 abortions per 1,000 women aged 25––29 years)." Another statistic, which is from the Guttmacher Institute (who is in
association with Planned Parenthood, the leading organization in "legal" abortions) states in the article "Induced Abortion in the United States,"
"[w]omen in their 20s account for more than half of all abortions: Women aged 20–24 obtain 33% of all abortions, and women aged 25–29 obtain
24%." That means that women aged 20–29 account for 57% of all abortions for that recording. It is

Essay on Stefan Sagmeister, an Influential Designer
Libby Castellani Holly Vaughn GRA 1109C 17 October 2012 Stefan Sagmeister: An Influential Designer In today's art world there seems to be a
large gap that separates fine art from commercial art. Often there is a disconnected coldness associated with those who work in communications art
and produce art for clients. As if all emotion and feeling is stripped from commercial artwork merely because it was created with the intention of
pleasing a client. Stefan Sagmeister bridges the gap in the art industry by redefining commercial design as a personal, emotional, and deep art. While

audacity of his brazen body is accompanied by harsh lettering that has literally been carved into his skin by his intern with a razorblade (Heller &
Vienne, 10). While the broad reception to this poster can be attributed to its shock–value, Sagmeister's self–mutilation was a commentary on the
absurdity of inking the body with tattoos (Heller & Vienne, 10). The scratches in his body display the details of the lecture as well as
Sagmeister's words pertaining to his philosophy on design, Style=Fart. This philosophy, which he has now put to rest, translates as his conscious effort
to not get wrapped up in fashion statements or trends; design that is defined by a temporary style is meaningless (Designboom). Sagmeister explains
why he relinquished the philosophy in an interview with Designboom: I discovered that this is simply not true.
Through experience I found that if
you have content that is
worthwhile the proper expression of that content, in terms of
form and style is actually very important. It can be a

External Estimates of the Number of Abortions Pooled and by Individual Year
The counts of the total number of abortions for the study period years come from published information from the Guttmacher Institute's census of
abortion providers (Finer and Henshaw 2003; Jones and Kavanaugh 2011). Following prior research, I used the CDC's age distribution for each year
to calculate the expected number of abortions that occurred in the age distribution of Add Health for each year, except in the years when an age
distribution was collected by the Guttmacher Institute's survey of abortion patients (Kost and Jones 2007; Fu et al. 1998). Because the CDC data is
provided in ages ranges (under 15; 15–19; 20–24; 25–29; 30–34; 35–39; 40+), the Add Health data was restricted to best match these ranges (see
Appendix 2 for further details).
The overall quality analyses (years 1994 through 2007) could potentially include pregnancies between the ages of 10 (the youngest individuals in
Wave 1 in 1994) and 32 (the oldest individuals in Wave 4 in 2008). Though it should be noted that pregnancies under the age of 13 would be

from the Guttmacher Institute's survey of abortion patients were compared with the estimates used to test the robustness of these analyses, and no

Benjamin Franklin 's Theory Of Life And Learning
Benjamin Franklin is known as a founding father, a self–made man, and a genius by historians around the world. These descriptors can be attributed to
the fact that, while he never had a strong formal education, Franklin challenged himself at every point of his life. He was full of curiosity, and had an
unstoppable drive to succeed. In addition, Franklin's autobiography, and many of his beliefs, still remain relevant today. James Dillon, in his article "A
Wonder Based Approach to Life andLearning," argues that Benjamin Franklin's strong, long lasting legacy comes from "the infectious sense of
wonder and curiosity that Benjamin Franklin brought to nearly everything he did" (Dillon 38). In fact, Dillon is a very strong believer that Ben
Franklin's model of learning is still incredibly useful in today's modern life.
To begin his article, Dillon starts off by simply describing Benjamin Franklin's world views. The author points out that Franklin believed that his
curiosity could change the world and fill it with knowledge. Franklin's curiosity lasted throughout his entire lifetime, and his questioning led to the
creation of a wide variety of modern inventions. Dillon goes on to compare Franklin's inquisitiveness with the attitude that schools try to encourage
in children as well. The two begin to contrast because "no one is telling him [Benjamin Franklin] to do this exercise for a grade in class; he is doing
it all on his own" (Dillon p 39). It is a negative attitude in learning

The meaning of the episode is further emphasized by its integration with all the other symbolic episodes in the novel in which Roark refuses to exalt
the Other above the Self. One of the most memorable of these episodes is a scene that might be called the Meeting of the Antipodes. Roark, the

but the psychological conflict that underlies it: it is Toohey–not Roark–who needs to talk to others, to discover their opinions, to know precisely how
cruelly he has wounded them and how much hatred they bear for him as a result. Toohey urges Roark to say what he thinks of him.

Why Charles Johnson Is Not An Indefatigable Investigator,...
You WOULD NOT want Charles Johnson to look into your background, not if you had anything to hide. He is an indefatigable investigator, who, at the
campus conservative magazine, the Claremont Independent – and at his own rollicking blog –for four years kept Claremont McKenna College buzzing
with revelations about affirmative action, politically tendentious speakers, and abuses in student government. He held college administrators ' feet to
the fire, and they got singed. It was easier to condemn than to refute him, and his critics soon gave up on the latter. Outside CMC, more disinterested
judges quickly discovered the boldness of his reporting and commentary. Soon he had been awarded virtually every prize a young journalist of
conservative disposition could receive: the Robert L. Bartley FellowВ ship at the Wall Street Journal, the Eric Breindel Award, the Robert Novak
Award from the Phillips Foundation, and a Publius Fellowship at theClaremont Institute. Hitting the trifecta is hard, but what Charles achieved is so
remarkable as to be nameless: hitting – what, the quadrifecta?
While leading his very public life as a student journalist, Charles pursued, more quietly but just as intrepidly, the study of politics. His senior thesis, a
precocious work of political biography, became the starting point for the book (his first) you are now reading. Why Coolidge Matters marks the
appearance of a major new conservative talent – and the reappearance of a major old one.

My Visit At The Huntington Museum Of Art
The first thing I noticed at the Huntington Museum of Art was how quiet and empty it was. This was not displeasing however––quite the opposite in
fact. The atmosphere was perfect for contemplation and thought, which is exactly what I want in a museum. I was still surprised of course; my visit to
the Art Institute of Chicago had been very different. Unlike in Huntington, Chicago's museum was packed to the brim, and the people within it
practically shouting just to be heard. It is very easy to decide which one I liked more, in terms of surroundings anyway. As I walked along, my
footsteps echoing, I could not help but feel like there was something missing. The art was perfectly fine, but there was a lack of liveliness to the
place, something that Chicago had in spades. I remember noticing that the art only had names, and no descriptions. This was something I disliked
extremely. It is nice to look at images I suppose, but I want some history. I want the time period, and a description of the artist, two things that play a
huge role in what a painting is actually about. I felt like I should just naturally understand what each piece of art was trying to describe to me, which
was an irritating feeling.
It only took me about twenty minutes to go through the entire museum. Nothing really drew me in, except for a couple of pieces. This was entirely
different from my visit to the Art Institute of Chicago. There, almost everything drew me in. All the paintings, and especially some of

Welfare Policy Analysis
The welfare policy is one mirrored by ideology and negativity, with few satisfied with its current status. The conservatives think of it as some kind
of "culture of poverty," personal choice (Furlong, 2013, p. 328) that is riddled with fraud and waste. While the liberals, site welfare as a state of
unequal opportunities caused by unfair economics or less than ideal social conditions beyond their control (Furlong, 2013, p. 328). The conservative
see the failures and the liberals see the need to expand on possibly successes. Both sides share the necessity of reform equivalently. However, coming
from these extreme perspectives the solutions remained far apart. The cost of welfare is extremely high and effects a great portion of the population.

Building on this, enforcement of the policy and allowing partial welfare, as the work income level adjusted to a set threshold (Dorgan, 2003) would

Improving daycare availability and addressing societal causes would greatly decrease the dependency of welfare (Dorgan, 2003). Properly funding

is its long history in the United States and, more specifically, Ohio. Before 1862, there was really no legal history for Career and Technical
Education. However, Congressman Justin S. Morrill of Vermont proposed a bill in 1857 to have federal support in agricultural and industrial
education. President Buchanan did not support the legislation, so there was no action on the bill. In 1861 however, Morrill reintroduced his bill to
the House of Representatives. President Lincoln later signed it in summer of 1862. This act gave public lands to build colleges for agriculture and
mechanical arts in each state. Each state, within five years, had to provide a college or the state would be revoked of the grant. This set the stage
clearly for the rest of the legislation in what is now known as Career and Technical Education ("Independent Action" 38). The first major legislation in

My Reflection Of Skype
Skype Reflection I will start by saying that our conversations with everyone over Skype has been my favorite thing I have had the pleasure to do since
I have been in college. It was different, informative, intriguing, and easily the most interesting exchange I have ever had. I not only appreciate having
been given the opportunity to be a part of this conversation, but feel fortunate to have taken part in learning about others and their way of life. After
speaking with Chris Saunders and Panos and Stefania, I re–read Hofstede's dimensions and felt I learned more and understood it better after speaking
with them. I feel that I can read something repeatedly, but having a good example and seeing it first–hand is the best learning experience I can have. To
have a good take away from the book with an even better example was the best way to learn this subject. When speaking to Chris Saunders from
Wales and England, I first noticed that he seemed as nervous as we did. He was able to answer our questions with great content and was really
funny. I felt that he had a great amount of individuality and held true to his own beliefs. I also feel that Chris showed that he fits into the
masculinity dimension as he is successful as a writer and driven as a teacher. Since he has moved around so much, he shows that he personally has
a low uncertainty avoidance, as he can take risks and is less resistant to change. An example of this is he was able to move to China, not knowing
much about the culture or the language and take the changes as they came at him. When it came to talking to Chris, I think what surprised me the
most was that there is a gap between 16 and 18 from what we would call high school to college. In the United States kids wouldn't know what to do
with themselves and I can't imagine what kind of trouble they would get into. It also surprised me that he has lived in so many places. He has had
the opportunity to learn so about so many cultures and meet so many people and that is incredible. My impressions of Chris were that he is very
intelligent and funny. He has a great sense of what he wants in life and is able to accomplish those goals. Because of his individuality he is able to
make his own choices and do

Medical Benefits Of Cloning In The United States

  • 1. Medical Benefits Of Cloning In The United States Cloning is an up and coming medical breakthrough that will benefit the lives of everyone immensely. On the contrary, we as a nation may never be able to experience all of what cloning technology has to offer. The governments is planning on banning or limiting the use of cloning in the United States. Cloning can improve our means of society, and banning it will be putting the good of America on the back burner. The medical benefits of cloning have the potential to be the greatest breakthroughs in the field ever. There are so many it's hard to just put your finger on one. The power of cloning will allow people to be cured of diseases that have never been cured before. These diseases include Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This gave many people suspicion that cloned animals aged prematurely. However, a daily anti–inflammatory treatment resolved the clinical signs within a few months. While Dolly was continuing to get better, in January of 2001, Cedric, one of the cloned sheep, died. Cedric died of Sheep Pulmonary Adenomatosis, which is caused by a virus that induces tumors to grow in the lungs of affected animals. The virus is infectious and spread to other sheep by close contact. Scientist immediately removed Dolly from the pen even though there was a good chance she was already infected. Dolly did die of SPA after many, many months of the other sheep deaths. While this may seem like a negative, it is actually a common disease of regular conceived sheep. This long and effective research experiment showed many people in the science world that cloning animals has a very bright future.(The Roslin Institute) Dolly was a breakthrough in science. She showed us it is possible to clone from an adult cell. Don't be fooled, it no where near perfect, but nothing is truly perfect. Dolly gave us a base to learn and continue to improve on. Think about it, when scientist first discovered anesthesia, atomic energy, and recombinant DNA, they started with one successful experiment and continued to improve the means of it. They could have lead to deleterious application, but in turn it changed the entire world's way of living, just as cloning has the potential to do.( Di Berardino Marie ... • 3. Essay About Moving To Canada Before moving to Canada, I really only knew about the University of Toronto. When I told people that I was interested in computer science, the first thing they would say was, "Have you heard about the University of Waterloo?" My teachers and peers have praised Waterloo as having one of the best computer science programs in Ontario. This was initially why I looked further into this university. I knew that Waterloo was the place for me after I watched a video about the university. The part that really stuck with me was the university's slogan, "Ideas start hereВ®". There are a few reasons for this. First of all, over the past few years, I discovered that I love designing and creating my own projects and bringing them to life. For example, I enjoy fashion as a hobby, and I had designed several dresses in my freetime, getting inspiration from professionals in the field. The feeling I got after I held the finished version of the dress in my hands could only be described as magic. Nothing felt more beautiful to me than seeing something I imagined on paper being transformed little by little into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem is that I haven't gotten "The" idea, yet; the idea with which I can evolve into something real. So, when I heard "Ideas start here", I knew that the University of Waterloo is where Iwant to attend. I crave to be surrounded by people who have the same drive for bigger and better aspirations in this world. I know that this university is the start of phenomenal changes in the world that I want to be a part of; that I want to lead. I have the ambition and creativity that drives change. I have the passion and work ethic to make my dreams come true. I have the strength and support I need to overcome challenges. All that's missing is the right education in the right environment. I know there's a long journey ahead of me, but there is no other university where I can picture myself building my future so clearly as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Pros And Cons Of Cloning The aspect of having some living organism to have the same type of genetic information and have the same looks, is kind of a skeptical topic to talk about. It is very much more skeptical when the living organism has the same genes as the other and one of them were not born "by nature". This phenomenon is called cloning. Cloning creates all types of controversies within the scientists and all the population, for the things that scientist can do with just a little piece of a cell. One of the main controversy that the world has is, why do human beings want to create life instead of having it created by nature. This controversy has always been around since the first organism was cloned. The other controversy that has all the world really worried is, what would happen if a human gets cloned. Cloning has all the world really nervous and concerned because they do not know what might happen if they were to clone a human. Applying Certificate Iv Of Training And Assessment Applying Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to work in assisting youth towards market demand in Timor–Leste Introduction Timor–Leste received independence on 30 August 1999 after a majority of the population voted for pulling out of Indonesian occupation of the country. Life was not easy after getting the light of independence as many sectors were destroyed to the ground by the militias. An enormous responsibility rested on people to exert efforts to reorganize everything from the ground up. The education system was highlighted as a core sector to be improved both in quality and service within the country. Education and training are some of the main tools being used to wipe away the tears of victims, who suffered much during the conflict. Technical–vocational education and training (TVET) is believed to be a key area which will assist in restoring many devastated sectors which totally paralyzed the country. In early 2010, the TVET system was formally established in a national strategic plan with a particular function in assuring, formulating and establishing the national qualification framework (NQF) (PATVET, 2011). It has been tremendously effective through its system of competence–based training and competence–based assessment in working towards market needs. As one looks closer, "blanket" is a rather generous word for the piece, considering it is a part of an unfinished project. So why keep this small scrap of fabric? It provides warmth, not to my appendages, rather to my soul. The blanket itself is a rather odd shape. Small and square, it is not the right length for a baby, much less a full grown human. Though incomplete, the work that was performed to the blanket was skillful, even beautiful. A soft floral pattern was woven into each quilted square. Only a delicate hand would be capable of making each stitch so precise. There are nine symmetrical squares, each the size of small napkins. Each square holds four triangles, touching on the tip, two solid blocks of color and two whimsically patterned. The colors of the coverlet are soft yet vibrant all in the same view. The idea of creating an army of "super humans" has long been a dream of many people. Others have feared what would happen to the world if cloning were possible and if cloning is morally correct. Overall, religion and ethics play a vital role in the both of these viewpoints and greatly effect many positions on the topic of cloning. Also, he points out that while cloning people is against the law in other countries, it is not in the United States. He said, "I don't think it should be –– certainly not at this stage . . . Trying to stop intellectual progress, in any form, is a terrible mistake. Furthermore, the technology is not, in principle, policeable. Like any new technology, people are at first afraid, but this is no excuse to abandon research that could one day save millions of people through cloned organs or give an alternative and safe means of reproduction to sterile couples. Cloning does indeed reduce the diversity of a herd of animals or a group of men, but there is no scientist that is suggesting that we find the "perfect" cow and clone him a million times over. This would allow the possibility of one disease killing an entire population, which is exactly why scientists wish to clone certain animals to augment the current gene pool. People are much the same. Science does not wish to clone the perfect person and effectively put all of our eggs in one basket. The goal is to aide humankind, not replace it with a "better model." Society also has a fear that one day we may see clones as only pieces of meat that happen to have genetically identical organs than us. We fear that the clones of the future will be nothing but organ banks and mindless slaves. The answer to this fear is not outlawing any kind of cloning research, it is to educate ourselves in the ethics of cloning and simply not allow such behavior, either through social pressures or government regulation. If we pass legislation which completely bans cloning, the industry will simply go over seas or move to countries that have no laws on cloning or any other type of biomedical regulations. Secondly, when it comes to the natural features, this entails making changes to the land's terrain, elevation and the general landforms. Finally, the abstract features are the elements that relate to the weather and the lighting conditions of the area of land undergoing landscaping. The landscaping process need not be a humongous and an overwhelming exercise for it is easy to manipulate and implement. It basically involves two crucial steps i.e. landscape design and the actual landscape construction. The landscape design involves a series of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Art Institute of California – Sacramento's organizational structure is based on the idea that one main goal, helping students to succeed, can be carried out throughout different departments to make sure that the strategy, vision and mission is carried out. The Art Institute of California– Sacramento's workforce is very diverse. Many different ethnicities, cultures, and demographics represent the campus at every level. The ratio of men to women staff and faculty is also pretty even. The student population is also very diverse. The diversity is the same as the workforce but the student population also has a socioeconomic diversity since some student come from lower income families and some from higher income. The student body is also compromised of more men then women. This could be due to the types of programs that the Art Institute of California – Sacramento offers. One of the biggest advantages that The Art Institute of California – Sacramento has is that is a very technology driven campus. Many of the programs offered rely heavily on technology. Due to this, the technology at the campus is constantly getting upgrade to be able to provide students with the best hardware and software to learn with and allow them to succeed. Rhetorical Analysis Of ' Public Thinking ' Danny Reyes Professor Crane RWS100 28 September 2015 Rhetorical Analysis of "Public Thinking" Journalist, Clive Thompson in his book, "Smarter Than You Think", specifically in the chapter titled, "Public Thinking", published on September 12, 2013, addresses the topic of technology and argues that because of the internet, we are doing more writing now than ever. Therefore technology is helping us think publicly in new and improved ways. He supports this claim by asserting that there is an improvement in our writing, which is happening because of the "audience effect", he then goes on to say that anything we write changes the way we think, and finally he talks about how the internet builds connections, which is essential to the spread of new ideas. Thompson's purpose is to inform readers about how the internet is a tool being used to advance our society in order to encourage more people to partake in online, public thinking. He adopts a contemplative tone for his audience, the readers of The New York Times, and others interested in the topic of technology. It is my intention in this paper to analyze the author's subclaims and use of rhetorical strategies. In his article, Thompson claims that there is an "audience effect" which is causing an improvement in writing. While talking about the important aspects of the increase in online writing, Thompson states that, "When you write something online–whether it's a one–sentence status update, a comment on someone's photo, or a ... Planned Parenthood does have professional doctors who specialized in many reproductive health services. Planned Parenthood is affordable, the program takes a patient whether they have insurance or not, not only that, they charge you by how much income you make. Low income Americans have access to these services too. "The United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare, for example, created a federal program to provide poor, married women withbirth control. After Texas defunded the clinic, a survey of 300 pregnant women who were seeking abortions in Texas said that they were unable to access the birth control that they wanted to use in the three months before pregnancy. (Amanda J. Stevenson). According to the article, "Political Attacks on Planned Parenthood Are a Threat to Women 's Health" for some people, Planned Parenthood has come to symbolize abortion, which it has provided since 1970. But in all the rhetoric, facts have sometimes gone missing. For example, Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona declared on the floor of the Senate that abortion accounts for "well over 90 percent" of what Planned Parenthood does. That figure is actually 3 percent. Planned Parenthood clinics perform one in four abortions in the U.S. but use no federal funds for this practice. To some abortion opponents, that 3 percent is reason enough to gut the organization. If a future Congress and White House were to do so, however, it would drive women once again into the back alleys, without necessarily decreasing the number of abortions. Stripping Planned Parenthood of federal funding would also sacrifice the 97 percent of its public health work that has nothing to do with abortion, from which many people benefit directly. Even though it was Thursday afternoon when the receptionist asked me if I could make the appointment, I said, "Yes." I hung up and felt panic. How was I going to get from Florida to Memphis? I was wheelchair bound and had difficulty doing anything for myself. By this point, I had to eat with plastic forks and spoons because regular silverware was simply too heavy for me to lift. She told me they just had an opening come up for October 21 and 24, 2005 so she asked, "Could you be here in ten days?" I said, "Yes!" We confirmed the plans and when Rose came out of the grocery store, I was now headed to New York for help. Within less than 24 hours God had opened another door. Hope was not over yet. But what lay ahead was definitely uncertainty. We drove home from Memphis and began to plan a trip to New York. Kevin and I had no money. The entire year had been a terrible financial drain with no end in sight. I simply prayed and gave it to God. I was in so much pain and unable to do anything about the situation except trust God. It is a taboo of sorts, but as time goes on, it seems to only be a taboo if you are against abortion, not for it. Mainly because if you are against abortion then you are clearly against women's rights in general. To be for abortion is "all the rage" these days because our society is so focused on equality, and all things equality. However, while we are fighting for equal rights, we are not even taking into consideration the victims, both of them. In this paper I want to hone in and focus on the effects of abortion in women aged 20–29 years of age. I will be looking into the physical, mental, and emotional effects on the women, the statistics that play into the reasoning behind the abortion and give some baseline statistics. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), "[w]omen aged 20–29 years accounted for 57.1% of all abortions reported in 2008 and for the majority of abortions during the entire period of analysis (1999––2008). In 2008, women aged 20––29 years also had the highest abortion rates (29.6 abortions per 1,000 women aged 20––24 years and 21.6 abortions per 1,000 women aged 25––29 years)." Another statistic, which is from the Guttmacher Institute (who is in association with Planned Parenthood, the leading organization in "legal" abortions) states in the article "Induced Abortion in the United States," "[w]omen in their 20s account for more than half of all abortions: Women aged 20–24 obtain 33% of all abortions, and women aged 25–29 obtain 24%." • 29. Essay on Stefan Sagmeister, an Influential Designer Libby Castellani Holly Vaughn GRA 1109C 17 October 2012 Stefan Sagmeister: An Influential Designer In today's art world there seems to be a large gap that separates fine art from commercial art. Often there is a disconnected coldness associated with those who work in communications art and produce art for clients. As if all emotion and feeling is stripped from commercial artwork merely because it was created with the intention of pleasing a client. Stefan Sagmeister bridges the gap in the art industry by redefining commercial design as a personal, emotional, and deep art. While Sagmeister's work encompasses a vast spectrum of mediums such as, album covers, logos, installations, and posters it is his philosophy on design that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The audacity of his brazen body is accompanied by harsh lettering that has literally been carved into his skin by his intern with a razorblade (Heller & Vienne, 10). While the broad reception to this poster can be attributed to its shock–value, Sagmeister's self–mutilation was a commentary on the absurdity of inking the body with tattoos (Heller & Vienne, 10). The scratches in his body display the details of the lecture as well as Sagmeister's words pertaining to his philosophy on design, Style=Fart. This philosophy, which he has now put to rest, translates as his conscious effort to not get wrapped up in fashion statements or trends; design that is defined by a temporary style is meaningless (Designboom). Sagmeister explains why he relinquished the philosophy in an interview with Designboom: I discovered that this is simply not true.
Through experience I found that if you have content that is
worthwhile the proper expression of that content, in terms of
form and style is actually very important. It can be a very

External Estimates Measures from External Estimates External Estimates of the Number of Abortions Pooled and by Individual Year The counts of the total number of abortions for the study period years come from published information from the Guttmacher Institute's census of abortion providers (Finer and Henshaw 2003; Jones and Kavanaugh 2011). Following prior research, I used the CDC's age distribution for each year to calculate the expected number of abortions that occurred in the age distribution of Add Health for each year, except in the years when an age distribution was collected by the Guttmacher Institute's survey of abortion patients (Kost and Jones 2007; Fu et al. 1998). Because the CDC data is provided in ages ranges (under 15; 15–19; 20–24; 25–29; 30–34; 35–39; 40+), the Add Health data was restricted to best match these ranges (see Appendix 2 for further details). The overall quality analyses (years 1994 through 2007) could potentially include pregnancies between the ages of 10 (the youngest individuals in Wave 1 in 1994) and 32 (the oldest individuals in Wave 4 in 2008). • 31. Benjamin Franklin 's Theory Of Life And Learning Benjamin Franklin is known as a founding father, a self–made man, and a genius by historians around the world. These descriptors can be attributed to the fact that, while he never had a strong formal education, Franklin challenged himself at every point of his life. He was full of curiosity, and had an unstoppable drive to succeed. In addition, Franklin's autobiography, and many of his beliefs, still remain relevant today. James Dillon, in his article "A Wonder Based Approach to Life andLearning," argues that Benjamin Franklin's strong, long lasting legacy comes from "the infectious sense of wonder and curiosity that Benjamin Franklin brought to nearly everything he did" (Dillon 38). In fact, Dillon is a very strong believer that Ben Franklin's model of learning is still incredibly useful in today's modern life. To begin his article, Dillon starts off by simply describing Benjamin Franklin's world views. The author points out that Franklin believed that his curiosity could change the world and fill it with knowledge. Franklin's curiosity lasted throughout his entire lifetime, and his questioning led to the creation of a wide variety of modern inventions. Dillon goes on to compare Franklin's inquisitiveness with the attitude that schools try to encourage in children as well. The two begin to contrast because "no one is telling him [Benjamin Franklin] to do this exercise for a grade in class; he is doing it all on his own" (Dillon p 39). He is an indefatigable investigator, who, at the campus conservative magazine, the Claremont Independent – and at his own rollicking blog –for four years kept Claremont McKenna College buzzing with revelations about affirmative action, politically tendentious speakers, and abuses in student government. He held college administrators ' feet to the fire, and they got singed. It was easier to condemn than to refute him, and his critics soon gave up on the latter. Outside CMC, more disinterested judges quickly discovered the boldness of his reporting and commentary. Soon he had been awarded virtually every prize a young journalist of conservative disposition could receive: the Robert L. This was not displeasing however––quite the opposite in fact. The atmosphere was perfect for contemplation and thought, which is exactly what I want in a museum. I was still surprised of course; my visit to the Art Institute of Chicago had been very different. Unlike in Huntington, Chicago's museum was packed to the brim, and the people within it practically shouting just to be heard. It is very easy to decide which one I liked more, in terms of surroundings anyway. As I walked along, my footsteps echoing, I could not help but feel like there was something missing. The art was perfectly fine, but there was a lack of liveliness to the place, something that Chicago had in spades. I remember noticing that the art only had names, and no descriptions. This was something I disliked extremely. It is nice to look at images I suppose, but I want some history. I want the time period, and a description of the artist, two things that play a huge role in what a painting is actually about. I felt like I should just naturally understand what each piece of art was trying to describe to me, which was an irritating feeling. The conservatives think of it as some kind of "culture of poverty," personal choice (Furlong, 2013, p. 328) that is riddled with fraud and waste. While the liberals, site welfare as a state of unequal opportunities caused by unfair economics or less than ideal social conditions beyond their control (Furlong, 2013, p. 328). The conservative see the failures and the liberals see the need to expand on possibly successes. Both sides share the necessity of reform equivalently. However, coming from these extreme perspectives the solutions remained far apart. The cost of welfare is extremely high and effects a great portion of the population. Building on this, enforcement of the policy and allowing partial welfare, as the work income level adjusted to a set threshold (Dorgan, 2003) would gain further success. The legal history of Career and Technical Education in the United States and the state of Ohio has a long history dating back to the 1800s. Career and Technical Education is also at the forefront in current legal news: a bill sitting in committee and a push for more Americans to study in Career and Technical Education–related fields. With Americans realizing that not everyone can or wants to attend college or university, Career and Technical Education is relevant and so is its long history in the United States and, more specifically, Ohio. Before 1862, there was really no legal history for Career and Technical Education. However, Congressman Justin S. Morrill of Vermont proposed a bill in 1857 to have federal support in agricultural and industrial education. President Buchanan did not support the legislation, so there was no action on the bill. In 1861 however, Morrill reintroduced his bill to the House of Representatives. President Lincoln later signed it in summer of 1862. This act gave public lands to build colleges for agriculture and mechanical arts in each state. Each state, within five years, had to provide a college or the state would be revoked of the grant. My Reflection Of Skype Skype Reflection I will start by saying that our conversations with everyone over Skype has been my favorite thing I have had the pleasure to do since I have been in college. It was different, informative, intriguing, and easily the most interesting exchange I have ever had. I not only appreciate having been given the opportunity to be a part of this conversation, but feel fortunate to have taken part in learning about others and their way of life. After speaking with Chris Saunders and Panos and Stefania, I re–read Hofstede's dimensions and felt I learned more and understood it better after speaking with them. I feel that I can read something repeatedly, but having a good example and seeing it first–hand is the best learning experience I can have. To have a good take away from the book with an even better example was the best way to learn this subject. When speaking to Chris Saunders from Wales and England, I first noticed that he seemed as nervous as we did. He was able to answer our questions with great content and was really funny. I felt that he had a great amount of individuality and held true to his own beliefs. I also feel that Chris showed that he fits into the masculinity dimension as he is successful as a writer and driven as a teacher. Since he has moved around so much, he shows that he personally has a low uncertainty avoidance, as he can take risks and is less resistant to change. An example of this is he was able to move to China, not knowing much about the culture or the language and take the changes as they came at him. When it came to talking to Chris, I think what surprised me the most was that there is a gap between 16 and 18 from what we would call high school to college. In the United States kids wouldn't know what to do with themselves and I can't imagine what kind of trouble they would get into. It also surprised me that he has lived in so many places. He has had the opportunity to learn so about so many cultures and meet so many people and that is incredible. My impressions of Chris were that he is very intelligent and funny.
