Describe The Process Of Buying A Baby
When a family learns there's a new baby on the way, there's normally a lot of emotions, planning and expectancy in the air. Babies change a family's
dynamic dramatically because they need so much love and attention. When soon–to–be parents begin learning more about what it takes to care for a
baby, there is usually a lot of surprise involving how expensive a baby really is. The hospital bill alone easily runs thousands of dollars and the baby
isn't even at home yet. As one can imagine, it is crucial to make sure the baby gets taken care of. One of the most important items to purchase for a
baby is their clothes. After all, happy babies are clothed, fed, changed and well–rested. Many parents are well–aware of how expensive baby clothes
can be. Babies grow really quickly and the idea of buying new clothes every month is just too much for most parents. So, in order to deal with the
baby who won't stop growing, consider these ways to help save money on your baby's apparel. 1. Wear larger sizes.... Show more content on

Many parents make the mistake of purchasing tons of outfits for every single month. Instead of stacking up for each month, consider doubling up on
certain months and only buying a few items in the in–between months. For example, purchase a ton of tops for a 5 month old. Allow the baby the start
wearing them at three months and four months. This will give two months of room to grow into the clothes. It'll also be much easier on the budget.
It's okay to have one or two items for each age as well. If the baby is at home every day, just keep them in their diaper and a onesie. Onesies come in
packs and are reasonably

Infancy Narrative
Infancy Narrative Paper Many years ago in a town called Nazareth, an angel named Gabriel appeared to Mary, a young Jewish girl. Gabriel
proclaimed that Mary was to have God's son and name him Jesus, he was the Messiah. Mary was bothered and confused because she was a virgin, but
her faith was strong enough to accept this and follow God's will. Joseph, Mary's fiance, was approached by an angel in a dream that told him Mary
was pregnant by the Holy Spirit so he should not leave her. After these events happened, Caesar Augustus issued a decree of a census stating everyone
was to go back to their town to be registered, so the impregnated young girl and her soon to–be husband were off to Bethlehem. While they were in

Expert Author Laurie J Cooper Having everything you need for baby ready to go before you bring your newborn home is a wise thing for a new
parent to do. But what to get for a newborn baby? Keep in mind that you never really need as much as you think you will. Be realistic. Do you
really need a bottle warmer? If you 're a parent who can afford it and you want it even if you don 't need it, then go for it. Just know that in a few
months you 're probably going to be reselling it because you 've realized that some things are more trouble than they 're worth. I advise having the
nursery set up, with supplies in place, clothes washed and ready to go, three to four weeks before your due date. That way, even if your baby
comes early, you 'll be prepared. It 's so much easier to come home from the hospital when you know you 've got everything you need on hand.
Below is a list of the essential must haves for your baby 's comfort and safety. ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT Bassinet, Co–Sleeper/Crib or a Pack and

Should Victor Frankenstein Be Responsible For Teaching The...
The novel, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is a very well known classic. In this novel, a man of the name Victor Frankenstein is the creator of a monster
/creature. Frankenstein spent months working on this creation, and one night the creature woke up. After this incident, Victor Frankenstein abandoned
his creation. In the classic novel, Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein should be responsible for teaching the monster about the world like a parent.
Victor Frankenstein should be responsible for teaching the creature about the world and acting like a parent figure because the creature had to
steal food and scavenge for it in the woods. "I had first, however, provided for my sustenance for that day, by a loaf of coarse bread, which I
purloined..." (Shelley 110). In this passage from the novel, the creature is explaining how he has to find food by stealing it. Evidence from a
secondary source that supports this passage is "He searches for food and shelter, which he finally finds in a hovel..." (Plot). This passage supports
how Victor should be responsible for the creature because at this point, he is not being taken care of and given food. He has to find it for himself, and
is not getting enough of it. This supports how Victor Frankenstein should be responsible for teaching the monster about the world like a parent.

Description Of The Age Of Viability
Samuel Joseph
Worksheet #2
1. Describe the "age of viability".
By 21 to 22 weeks after fertilization, the lungs gain some room to breathe air. This is called the age of viability because survival outside the womb
becomes possible for some fetuses.
2. Describe some of the rapid growth that takes place during the first two years of life.
Growth is speedy during the first two years of life. The child 's mass, form, senses, and organs undergo change. As each physical change occurs, the
child gains new abilities. Physical development during the first year of the child's life, mainly involves the infant coordinating motor skills. The infant
builds physical strength and motor coordination by repeating several motor actions.
3. When was the last time that you saw an infant? Describe what the baby was doing.
The last time I seen an infant was when I was at my uncle house before I left for school. Although it was quiet and not making any noise the baby
was very observant and was aware when I came in the room. He had his pacifier and I picked him up to play with him briefly before I left.
4. Briefly describe the most frequent activity that an infant does. Now...take your own sleep quiz and see if you are sleep deprived.
The most frequent activity an infant does is cry and babble. Crying is almost an automatic thing when it comes to infants, you really have to be able to
understand the reason in which they are crying for and act on it.

Childproofing Your Dog Essay
10 tips for childproofing your dog
Some dogs readily accept a new baby into their home. Others will need help adjusting to the presence of a new baby, and to the changes in their
schedule and environment that this presence entails. With proper preparation, most dogs can be taught to cohabitate with infants peacefully and happily.
1. Begin the process months in advance. It's important to assess, train, socialize and desensitize your dog long before you bring your baby home. The
best learning environment is a familiar, safe environment. A home with a new baby in it is a great environment to test skills that have already been
acquired and practiced, but it might not feel familiar or safe enough for your dog to be able to concentrate on learning ... Show more content on

Evaluate your dog's current behavior. How does your dog react to babies, children, adult strangers? What about new objects, new smells and
unfamiliar situations? Is your dog easily startled? Can you identify any guarding behaviors or predatory tendencies? If so, it might be a good idea to
consult an expert and possibly get help from a trainer.
3. Learn to read your dog's body language. It's important to be able to tell when your dog is feeling fearful or stressed. It's easy to perceive a dog's
self–calming behaviors as endearing, or to confuse them with indifference. Does your dog display any avoidance or fixation? This may indicate
anxiety or over–excitability. Be sure to provide them with enough exercise and play, employing a dog walker if necessary. Excess energy can turn into
stress if it isn't released.
4. Address training and behavior issues. Make sure your dog knows the basic training requirements – sit, stay, down, come, leave it, and calm
leash–walking. Address any problematic behaviors using positive training methods. Encourage your dog's independence and gradually transition
primary care–taking duties of your dog (walking, playtime) to whoever will be performing these duties when you're busy with the baby (a dog walker,

Early Interventions Parents Of Preterm Infants
Introduction A preterm infant can be defined as an infant who is born before 37 weeks gestation. Babies who are born premature have a high risk for
many health and developmental problems as infants and, furthermore, as they develop into adults. These health and developmental problems can
include brain defects, recurrent illnesses, short attention span, sensory impairments, poor motor coordination, delays in language, and emotional and
behavior problems. Since preterm infants are fragile and minuscule, parents of preterm infants tend to be more distant when caring for their child.
Preterm infants are less likely to be held close, touched, or talked to by their parents compared to full–term infants (Berk, 2013). This paper focuses on

Skin–to–Skin (Kangaroo) Care Through research, skin–to–skin (kangaroo) care has been shown to be one of the most affective early interventions used
by parents. It has been stated that kangaroo care helps to regulate preterm infants ' body temperatures, improve preterm infants ' breathing patterns and
blood oxygen levels, and increase the rate at which preterm infants gain weight. Kangaroo care has been known to diminish apnea, slow heart rates, and
hospital stays for preterm babies. Kangaroo care intervention includes rhythmic, sensory, and tactile elements. These elements help preterm infants '
attention span, development of both motor and mental skills, and cognitive development. When a mother participates in kangaroo care, the preterm
infant is placed in between her breasts and when a father participates in this type of intervention, the preterm infant is placed next to his chest. Mothers
who participate in kangaroo care state they have more positive emotions toward their baby and they have a better feel of their parenting role (Feldman,
Eidelman, Sirota, & Weller, 2002). According to Feldman et al. (2002), there are more positive interactions between mothers and preterm infants who
participate in kangaroo care than there are between mothers and preterm infants who do not participate in the intervention. There are also more positive
interactions between mothers and preterm infants who participate in

Five Must–Haves for Your Baby Getting prepared for your bundle of joy can bring on an array of emotions. Knowing how to sift through the must
haves versus what would be nice is important. Here are five essential must–haves for your new baby. Sleeping Must Haves Sleep is one of the most
important parts of your new baby's life, in fact, he or she will be sleeping most of the time! As such, it's critical to have the essentials in order to
ensure your baby will obtain optimal levels of sleep and gets the rest it needs. A crib is a must–have. You want your baby to have its own space but it
also needs to be safe. Crib safety is a must. In order to ensure safety, do not put pillows or other items in the crib. Also, make sure that you have a firm
crib mattress. The two must–haves are a crib and a firm crib mattress, anything else crib–related is supplemental.... Show more content on

Whether you're nursing or bottle feeding, there are must–haves that can make life better. One must–have that you'll need whether you're nursing or
bottle feeding is a bottle. In fact, you'll need multiple bottles at least six to ten. Having multiple bottles makes it easier on you and the baby. You'll
also want to ensure that you have a brush to clean the bottles as well. For mothers who will be utilising formula, you'll want to make sure you have
more than enough formula right at the beginning. Formula is one thing you definitely do not want to run out of. Overstocking is appropriate in this
case. For ladies who will be breastfeeding, a nursing pillow for home and one for on–the–go is a must–have. You'll also want nursing bras and a breast

Infant Health And Human Services
In the United States, the Department of Health and Human Services works tirelessly in order to improve the conditions for newborn infants. Their
goal is to provide essential human services, as well as protect the health for all Americans. Specifically, the area of infant health focuses on the period
of rapid development from birth to one year age. The factors that contribute to infant health is not only attributed to the child, but also extends to the
health of the mother and their family support system as well. This area of healthcare is extremely important because it ensures the future health of the

For example, poverty, lack of education, drug abuse, and domestic violence are the usual suspects of the problem (Olson, 2010). An individual's social
economic status (SES) is one of the most important predictors of health because it can influence the extent to which other factors may provide
protection from health inequities. Individuals with a low SES are more likely to experience poor nutrition, lack of housing, and greater exposure to
environmental hazards (Source). This suggests that the disparities in social economic status in American society is correlated to inadequate access to
healthcare. In addition, researchers investigated the relationships between income and income inequality with neonatal and infant health outcomes in the
United States. This study suggested that the current public programs designed to meet the health needs of the poorest infants in this nation does not
adequately reach those who need it the most. As a result, this implied that health care access for everyone may not be sufficient (Braveman, 2008). It is
necessary to focus on interventions that address the problem of poverty and decrease income inequality first that will lead to improvements in infant
health outcomes in the United States. In the United States, data from various racial groups indicated that minorities are more likely to experience
complications with pregnancy. Racial and ethnic minority women, particularly

Childhood Metaphors
An analysis of poems discussing the different ideas of infancy and what infancy and childhood means to different people. The ideas of infancy vary
across the poems from being a curse to the family to being a blessing from the heavens or even a key to break out of the boundaries set by reality. The
poets use various literary devices such as metaphors, similes and different poem structure to convey the message that they carry. Each poem has its own
viewpoint on infancy. On the whole four of the poems, "Infant Joy" –William Blake, "You're"– Sylvia Plath, "Once upon a time" – Gabriel Okara and
"Piano" by D.H. Lawrence all have a more positive view towards infancy whereas, " Infant Sorrow" – William Blake and "Prayer before birth" – Louis
MacNeice show a more pessimistic side towards infancy. Despite the fact that each poem has its own different point of view on the subject of infancy,
they all seem to share one thought which is the fact that infancy represents innocence and in some cases a fresh start.
At first glance, William Blake's "Infant Joy" shows readers that the mother is extremely happy and delighted to have had a baby. The first two
lines of the poem, "I have no name: I am but two days old." Gives readers the impression that babies represent a sense of purity and innocence as the
baby doesn't even have his own name. A more in depth look would be to see the baby as a clean canvas which has yet to be painted on by society and

age and ability and that all the toys are safe with no choking hazards. Maintaining professional relationships with the parents and the baby is essential as

Care routines also help the practitioner to know what has been done and what needs doing next. In most early year's settings, babies are assigned to a
key worker, a key worker forms good relationships with the baby and their parents and are responsible for getting to know the child personally and
knowing their abilities, needs and preferences and then each key worker creates individual learning plans for each baby. Key workers must observe the
baby regularly and record information about the baby to plan appropriate activities to push them to the next level of development. Key workers are also
important when communicating and sharing information with parents and carers, and when necessary, other professionals. This is important asthe key
worker will know the child better than others within the setting and will be aware of all development areas and issues that may affect the baby's
development or behaviour. Key workers should be able to gain the trust of the baby and the parents so that they can come to the key worker with
any problems, if the baby trusts the key worker they will have a positive relationships and the baby will be settled and comfortable around them. If
the baby is comfortable in the setting and trusts the key worker and other practitioners he will be confident and will try new things in order to
develop further. Care routines include day to day tasks this is a good way of supporting a baby's overall development. Nappy

Unintentional Injuries In Childhood
General Discussion
Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of pediatric mortality, with preventable injuries killing more Canadian children than any other single
disease (Parachute, 2016, Statistics Canada, 2012). Each year in Canada, preventable injuries cause 16,000 deaths, 60,000 disabilities, 3.5 million
emergency room visits and most stingingly, onechild dies every 9 hours as a result of an unintentional injury (Parachute, 2016). When examining infants
specifically, research has identified that majority of unintentional injuries (90%) occur in and around the home, when infants are presumably being
monitored by a responsible caregiver (National Safety Council,
1991; Rivara, Calonge, & Thompson, 1989, Morrongiello & corbet ). Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
danger, risk, and potential severity), caregivers must assume the role of actively implementing precautions to prevent injuries. Although there has been
research devoted to understanding parental safety precautions to children 2 years and older, and there is literature to suggest that parental supervision
is an important determinant for childhood injury (Morrongiello, Corbett, & Brison, 2009; Porter et al., 2007), there is virtually nothing known about
the nature and scope of parental supervision infants receive in the home, and surprisingly little is known about the nature of injury–risk behaviours,
during infancy and how parents become alert to these. Indeed, previous research has identified peaks in different types of injuries that occur in
synchrony with the acquisition of motor skills (Agran et al., 2003), however how parents respond and adjust to ongoing changes in infant's abilities has
been overlooked in the supervision literature. This is surprising given the fact that this developmental time period can be especially challenging for
parents; not only must caregivers be able to accurately predict their children's next behavioural milestone; they must also take into account the
individual variabilities of when certain capabilities may emerge and adjust safety precautions accordingly. Infancy is a unique developmental period
therefore, given that someone is always providing direct care and can be thought of the responsible authority associated with the injury event. Hence,
this study was important not only for examining how caregiver supervision practices change as infants gain greater mobility, but to explore whether
child characteristics (e.g., developmental level) and parent characteristics (e.g., supervision practices) interact synergistically with infant's risk
behaviours and injury outcomes. Given that

Co-Sleeping Around The World Essay
Co–sleeping Around the World
When it comes to parents sharing a room or bed with their newborn baby, there are many factors that came into consideration, many considers to raise

shouldn't sleep in the same bed as their parents. But should sleep close by their parents but doesn't encourage bed sharing with an infant. The reason that
AAP doesn't encourage bed sharing with infants would be that a parent could inadvertently trap a baby in bed covers or in the space between the bed

or she sleep alone in a crib? This is a question that many new parents struggle with, but if you opt to have your baby sleep on his or her own, then you
will need to get a baby mattress.

The same goes for baby mattresses, meaning that you should rotate it on a regular basis to avoid dipping and to keep your child comfortable. For the
most part, you should turn the mattress every six months, but once a year should be okay.
One thing to consider, however, is that many baby mattresses have aninfant side, which is firm, and a toddler side, which is softer. Thus, if your
mattress is double–sided, you won't just be able to flip it and call it a day. In that case, just rotate the unit around so you can ensure that your baby is
still sleeping on a firm surface.
Is my mattress safe for my baby?
Because the health and safety of children are such important things for new parents, manufacturers of baby mattresses take extra care and precaution to
ensure that their products are safe. Most models are free of harmful chemicals and materials, meaning that you can buy a baby mattress and not worry
about if your child will be exposed to anything dangerous.
What chemicals should I watch out for?
If you are on the more paranoid side, then you probably want to know exactly what to watch out for when choosing a mattress. Typically speaking,
these are the chemicals and hazardous materials that you should ensure are not inside your kid's

Common Parenting Article Analysis
As a first time parent to a three week old baby girl, I listen to a lot of crying everyday. It is becoming unbearable, even though I know it is common
and my baby is healthy. As a result, I decided to look on the internet for helpful tips for new parents when their babies will not stop crying. I will also
consult a parenting textbook that I was given from a friend. While researching my common parenting issue of crying, I will compare and contrast the
various information I find. Specifically, I will be examining an article from Parenting with one from Help Guide, as well as the information from "The
Process of Parenting" textbook. In the Parenting article titled "Soothing a Crying Baby" it began by grouping parents and letting them know... Show

This website is a non–profit resource that helps readers resolve their health issues. The article begins by explaining that it is common for new
parents to feel frustration, anxiety, and anger when they have a baby who will not stop crying. Next, it instructs parents to never shake a baby, as
Shaken Baby Syndrome can cause one hundred percent preventable death. Coping strategies for parents who are dealing with crying, colicky, or
unresponsive babies include recognizing their own limits, remembering that the crying will lessen as the baby gets older, reaching out to others for
support, and acknowledging that they do not have to be perfect. This article also reminds parents that all babies are different, so there are babies
who cry less, and others who cry more. The first comforting tip is to ask yourself what your baby needs, as crying is their form of communication.
The second comforting tip is to pay attention to your baby's signals, as all babies have different sensory needs. The third comforting tip is to evaluate
your own emotional state, and not to necessarily blame yourself for your baby's crying. The fourth comforting tip is to watch for attachment
milestones, as it is important to monitor your baby's attachment process. The fifth comforting tip is to recognize and understand colic, and how to sooth
a baby who has colic. The sixth and final

Persuasive Essay On Child Sleep
That infant of yours took a while to make sense of the distinction amongst night and day – and you expected this. However, you didn't foresee that his
entire first year could abandon you having a feeling that you landed a position working the burial ground move. On the off chance that lack of sleep
makes them sob into your espresso mug, take heart: It's conceivable to put a conclusion to those 2 a.m. wake–up calls.
So if the possibility of five entire hours of continuous rest sounds great to you, at that point you may be keen on the accompanying infant rest tips to
help your infant (and you!) get a decent night's rest.
Here are some tips for you to make your Child sleep:
Tip 1: Look Out for the Signs: Your infant may not be a chatterbox presently, but rather he invests a ton of energy attempting to speak with you.
Similarly as children have sustaining signs so you know when they're eager, they impart tiredness through different practices. Losing enthusiasm for the
things around him, going calm and beginning to complain are all signs that your infant may be feeling languid. Take a stab at putting your infant to bed
when you see these tiredness signs. On the off chance that you miss the signs, your infant will wind up plainly over drained and crotchety and be
substantially harder to settle.
Tip 2: Have A Bedtime Ritual: A sleep time custom enables infants and youthful kids to comprehend what is coming next. A sleep time custom can
quiet your child down and set him up

nappies, wiping tissues and any other things for changing the child.

As we are working with children we should be always aware about sudden unexpected death in infancy (SUDI), which includes sudden infant death
syndrome (SIDS) and fatal sleep accidents.
There are some simple things you can do to reduce the risks:

4.Develop partnerships with families and engage in shared decision making where appropriate.
5.Acknowledge the rights of families to make decisions about their children.

Factors Affecting Parents' Presence with Their Extremely Preterm Infants in a Neonatal Intensive Care Room Acta Paediatrica's (2013) article
describing parents' experiences of factors that have influenced their stay with their extremely preterm infant in a neonatal intensive care unit appealed to
me for three main reasons. First, I am wanting to continue my education further than my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and become an Advanced

Kangaroo care and active involvement in the infant's care gave parents a sense of control that strengthened their motivation to be with their infant. This
helped when the environment was calm and private. Access to single care rooms/family rooms in the NICU enhances parents' opportunities for being
involved with their child. This study was conducted in a level 3 NICU at a Swedish, regional/university level 3 hospital. The NICU guidelines and
procedures were designed to prevent unnecessary parent–infant separation and support attachment/bonding between infants and their parents. The
NICU has nine family rooms where parents can room with their infant during their hospital stay and provide for their infant's care, with support from
the staff. A convenience sample of mothers and fathers of extremely preterm infants (born at a gestational stage (GA) of 27 weeks or less) who
received care in the NICU were recruited.
Seven couples were invited to participate in the study. One father declined participation; therefore, seven mothers and six fathers participated. One
couple had twins. The infants were born at twenty three weeks and five days to twenty seven weeks and 6 days gestational age, with birth weights
ranging between 492 and 1044 grams. All of whom required ventilator support, for different periods of times. The parents were interviewed at least
one week after the infants were transferred from an intensive care room to another type of room

Infanticide Is The Killing Of An Infant
This paper discusses whether it is ever permissible to commit infanticide or not. Infanticide is the killing of an infant or the practice of killing newborn
infants. It is a difficult subject to discuss since infanticide seems morally repugnant at first glimpse, though it becomes increasingly complicated as we
reflect on particular nuances in real world cases.
ROADMAP:
I argue that it is impermissible to commit infanticide under any circumstance since committing murder of a person under any circumstance is wrong.
Infanticide in simple words is the murder of a newborn infant. There is no difference between killing a newborn and a fully grown adult. Both of them
can be defined as persons since they both possess a human essence that makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, fully grown adults differ from infants due to the fact that they value life and have the capacity to retain their memories and personal identity.
They can engage in rational thought and appreciate their existence. Infants aren't even capable of grasping their existence, leave alone any memories.
Hence, they shouldn't even be considered to be persons.
However, this objection isn't valid since eventually even infants will develop the capability to think, retain memories and value life since abilities are
developmental in nature. Also, if rationality and self awareness define personhood and determine the moral significance of persons, then there are
many fully grown adults who can be disqualified as persons, for example an adult under coma. According to this argument, since comatose patients are
unconscious and can't rationally think at the time, killing them would be permissible too.
ARGUMENT
I argue that infanticide is impermissible under any circumstance. I will support my stance by arguing against Peter Singer's argument that supports the
infanticide of disabled infants. In "Taking Life: Humans," Singer states that if we can morally kill a disabled fetus that has no self–consciousness, it
follows that we can morally kill a disabled infant that has no self–consciousness. Take note that Singer argues in favor of committing infanticide of
only disabled infants if it serves the interests of the parents. He does not argue that it is right to

good example will be, one day when my sister came from work to pick up the baby, at the moment he was watching television as my sister started
talking his eyes were reaching out for her voice, moving his head back and forth it was such an amazing thing to experience. As I read the chapter, I

Infancy and Toddlerhood
Infancy and Toddlerhood (0–2yrs) When Rosa arrived home from the hospital she kept in mind what the Doctor Levenzon had recommended her about
nutrition prior to having her first child. Hence, which was that there was no better way to get the adequate amount of nutrients than by breast–feeding
because it provided healthy nutrients to support the three domains of development. Nonetheless, days after birth, Javier's parents were very worried
because they thought that their child was going to have trouble communicating his needs. However, that was not the case because they soon realized
that Javier would let them know he needed something by the different types of cry. Hence, during his the first six months he was able to look at his
parents and smile, respond to affection and to situations with facial expressions. By the time, he was seven months he was better able to recognize
familiar and unfamiliar faces. Then at the ten–month mark, he began to sit with out support, crawl from one side of the room to the other. Javier also

How Infants Develop Their Language Or Communication Skills...
I am a firm believer in the idea that everything we learn, see, touch and experience can have a lasting effect on us. For my controversy paper I will
be discussing how infants develop their language or communication skills from the way their parents talk to them. While talking to a baby who may
not be able to talk yet or does not even seem to be responding to you may seem silly. But it actually has a lasting effect on their language
development. Even from when they are so small something as simple as talking to them can make a difference in their lives. Parents need to talk to
babies as soon as possible because it can make such a difference in their development. I strongly believe and my view is for the more interaction with
infants. They need it to grow and develop into the best possible version of yourself. All though infants are usually known for not speaking, they do
participate in communication in their own way. They do this hearing, gazing, babbling, looking and smiling through their auditory and visual senses.A
newborn infant primary way of communication is by the turn of it head when hearing sounds. The voice of the child's mother that they remember from
the womb or the caregiver would get the most responsive communicational feedback.Which is why it is essential for parents to take time to
communicate with their children even if their babies. This controversy is basically how the more parents speak to their infants it seems to correlate

The Characteristics Of Child-Directed Speech ( CDS )
"Talking to children has always been fundamental to language development, but new research reveals that the way we talk to children is key to
building their ability to understand and create sentences of their own. The exaggerated speech we naturally use with young children is a special register
– often called 'motherese'" (Medical Xpress , 2011). Moreover, child–directed speech (CDS) plays an important role in language acquisition because
while modifying and adjusting speech to a child, this keeps their attention and meets the needs of providing understanding to the young addressee.
Child–directed speech (CDS), also referred to as infant–directed speech (IDS) or motherese is a speech register that is characterized by pitch and
intonation, slower speech rates with pauses in between words, shorter simple sentences and frequent repetition (O'Brien, 2017). Moreover, the role
child–directed speech (CDS) plays in language acquisition is that it modifies and adjusts speech directed to children and keeps their attention as well as
meets the needs of providing understanding to the young addressee (Clarke, p. 45).
This paper will examine the cultural variations embedded in child–directed speech (CDS) and how the characteristics of child–directed speech (CDS)
differ cross–culturally. Specifically, this essay will show evidence of cultural variation from several case studies by focusing on the differences and
similarities in prosodic characteristics within child–directed speech (CDS)

Co Sleeping Research Paper
There are many different types of co sleeping, not just sleeping in your parents' bed. The first type of co sleeping and the most common form is
known as "bed–sharing." This is when the infant and/or toddler sleeps in the same bed as his or her parent(s). The second type of co sleeping is
known as the "sidecar arrangement." In this type of co sleeping the crib, with one of its sides taken off, is set next to the mother's side of the bed.
This removal of one of the sides allows for easy access between mom and baby. The next type of co sleeping is when the baby's crib is somewhere in
the parent's room but not directly next to mom. The final type of co sleeping is when the child is welcomed into the parents' bed at any time
throughout the night but does not start the night in mom and/or dad's bed. Children begin their night in his or her own bed but if they are awoken in
the night they are welcome to go into their parent's bed.
Pros:
For many, co sleeping only seems to have negative effects on a parent and a child. However, with much research it has been found that co sleeping has

Patient Information The patient focused on in this teaching project was a four–day–old NICU patient at Children's Hospital of Colorado. Baby Haven
was born at 34 weeks gestation to a mother who had used alcohol, marijuana and tobacco while pregnant. Additionally, she claimed to have not known
she was pregnant until July and did not seek prenatal care until September, one month before the birth of baby Haven. The birth mother made the choice
to put Haven up for adoption. I met the adoptive mother and father while caring for Haven the day before her discharge. Although she was premature
and born to a mother who used substances, she showed no signs of respiratory distress, neurologic defects or feeding difficulties. She was an
Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR) fetus, likely due to maternal substance abuse and weighed 1.9 kilograms at discharge. However, she was
successfully bottle–feeding with Similac 24 Kcal formula and had only lost three percent of her birth weight. Based on her eagerness to feed, her
stable vital signs, stable glucose and thriving personality, her neonatologist felt as if she were ready to discharge and this is where nursing education
came into play. Haven is her adoptive parent 's first child and although they were very prepared and delighted to be taking her home, they voiced
concerns regarding taking care of a premature infant. The adoptive father works on oil rigs and has a two week on/two week

Mongolian Culture In The Film Babies
The movie Babies, showcased the beginnings of a Mongolian child. Its environment, homelife, cultural upbringings and its day to day occurrences

societies which I am accustomed to. To be more specific, the way that children in Mongolia are raised, cared for, and get used to the real world are
significantly different than America's way of doing things, or at least my way of seeing things. The state of awe I was in when a newborn baby was

However, my childhood and the Mongolian child's life aren't compared. How would the Mongolian culture see America's culture... my culture? In
my culture, we don't do too much swaddling, it still occurs here but it isn't that commonly practiced. We put plastic pacifiers in the mouths of our
children, and in the eyes of Mongolians, it isn't natural to be doing that, and they'd look at us funny for not doing something more natural. The
Mongolians would look at us odd for how much we watch our babies and how many machines we use to monitor our babies, especially since heart
monitors aren't natural. We as Americans "baby" our children and the fact that we look after our kids as much as we possibly can, they'd find
ridiculous. The extra reading and class taking we Americans do would be seen as an extreme to Mongolians, along with the lack of independence we
give our children. And lastly, the fact that an adult has to be present at all times for the babies sake overwatching the baby's actions would be
ridiculous; Their kids can take care of themselves at a younger age than ours can it

Describe The Process Of Buying A Baby

  • 1. Describe The Process Of Buying A Baby When a family learns there's a new baby on the way, there's normally a lot of emotions, planning and expectancy in the air. Babies change a family's dynamic dramatically because they need so much love and attention. When soon–to–be parents begin learning more about what it takes to care for a baby, there is usually a lot of surprise involving how expensive a baby really is. The hospital bill alone easily runs thousands of dollars and the baby isn't even at home yet. As one can imagine, it is crucial to make sure the baby gets taken care of. One of the most important items to purchase for a baby is their clothes. After all, happy babies are clothed, fed, changed and well–rested. Many parents are well–aware of how expensive baby clothes can be. Babies grow really quickly and the idea of buying new clothes every month is just too much for most parents. So, in order to deal with the baby who won't stop growing, consider these ways to help save money on your baby's apparel. 1. Wear larger sizes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many parents make the mistake of purchasing tons of outfits for every single month. Instead of stacking up for each month, consider doubling up on certain months and only buying a few items in the in–between months. For example, purchase a ton of tops for a 5 month old. Allow the baby the start wearing them at three months and four months. This will give two months of room to grow into the clothes. It'll also be much easier on the budget. It's okay to have one or two items for each age as well. If the baby is at home every day, just keep them in their diaper and a onesie. Onesies come in packs and are reasonably ... • 2. Infancy Narrative Infancy Narrative Paper Many years ago in a town called Nazareth, an angel named Gabriel appeared to Mary, a young Jewish girl. Gabriel proclaimed that Mary was to have God's son and name him Jesus, he was the Messiah. Mary was bothered and confused because she was a virgin, but her faith was strong enough to accept this and follow God's will. Joseph, Mary's fiance, was approached by an angel in a dream that told him Mary was pregnant by the Holy Spirit so he should not leave her. After these events happened, Caesar Augustus issued a decree of a census stating everyone was to go back to their town to be registered, so the impregnated young girl and her soon to–be husband were off to Bethlehem. Getting Ready For Baby : A Newborn Checklist Getting Ready For Baby – A Newborn Checklist By Laurie J Cooper | Submitted On September 16, 2011 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Share this article on Facebook 1 Share this article on Twitter Share this article on Google+ Share this article on Linkedin Share this article on StumbleUpon Share this article on Delicious Share this article on Digg Share this article on Reddit Share this article on Pinterest Expert Author Laurie J Cooper Having everything you need for baby ready to go before you bring your newborn home is a wise thing for a new parent to do. But what to get for a newborn baby? Keep in mind that you never really need as much as you think you will. Be realistic. Do you really need a bottle warmer? If you 're a parent who can afford it and you want it even if you don 't need it, then go for it. Just know that in a few months you 're probably going to be reselling it because you 've realized that some things are more trouble than they 're worth. I advise having the nursery set up, with supplies in place, clothes washed and ready to go, three to four weeks before your due date. That way, even if your baby comes early, you 'll be prepared. It 's so much easier to come home from the hospital when you know you 've got everything you need on hand. Below is a list of the essential must haves for your baby 's comfort and safety. ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT Bassinet, Co–Sleeper/Crib or a Pack and Play for your bedroom. For the first 12 weeks, you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Should Victor Frankenstein Be Responsible For Teaching The... The novel, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is a very well known classic. In this novel, a man of the name Victor Frankenstein is the creator of a monster /creature. Frankenstein spent months working on this creation, and one night the creature woke up. After this incident, Victor Frankenstein abandoned his creation. In the classic novel, Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein should be responsible for teaching the monster about the world like a parent. Victor Frankenstein should be responsible for teaching the creature about the world and acting like a parent figure because the creature had to steal food and scavenge for it in the woods. "I had first, however, provided for my sustenance for that day, by a loaf of coarse bread, which I purloined..." (Shelley 110). In this passage from the novel, the creature is explaining how he has to find food by stealing it. Evidence from a secondary source that supports this passage is "He searches for food and shelter, which he finally finds in a hovel..." (Plot). This passage supports how Victor should be responsible for the creature because at this point, he is not being taken care of and given food. He has to find it for himself, and is not getting enough of it. This supports how Victor Frankenstein should be responsible for teaching the monster about the world like a parent. In this novel, Victor Frankenstein should be responsible for teaching the creature about the world and acting like a parent figure because he was abandoned at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Childproofing Your Dog Essay 10 tips for childproofing your dog Some dogs readily accept a new baby into their home. Others will need help adjusting to the presence of a new baby, and to the changes in their schedule and environment that this presence entails. With proper preparation, most dogs can be taught to cohabitate with infants peacefully and happily. 1. Begin the process months in advance. It's important to assess, train, socialize and desensitize your dog long before you bring your baby home. The best learning environment is a familiar, safe environment. A home with a new baby in it is a great environment to test skills that have already been acquired and practiced, but it might not feel familiar or safe enough for your dog to be able to concentrate on learning ... What about new objects, new smells and unfamiliar situations? Is your dog easily startled? Can you identify any guarding behaviors or predatory tendencies? If so, it might be a good idea to consult an expert and possibly get help from a trainer. 3. Learn to read your dog's body language. It's important to be able to tell when your dog is feeling fearful or stressed. It's easy to perceive a dog's self–calming behaviors as endearing, or to confuse them with indifference. Does your dog display any avoidance or fixation? This may indicate anxiety or over–excitability. Be sure to provide them with enough exercise and play, employing a dog walker if necessary. Excess energy can turn into stress if it isn't released. 4. Address training and behavior issues. Make sure your dog knows the basic training requirements – sit, stay, down, come, leave it, and calm leash–walking. Address any problematic behaviors using positive training methods. Encourage your dog's independence and gradually transition primary care–taking duties of your dog (walking, playtime) to whoever will be performing these duties when you're busy with the baby (a dog walker, your partner, your parent, or a friend who lives ... • 8. Early Interventions Parents Of Preterm Infants Introduction A preterm infant can be defined as an infant who is born before 37 weeks gestation. Babies who are born premature have a high risk for many health and developmental problems as infants and, furthermore, as they develop into adults. These health and developmental problems can include brain defects, recurrent illnesses, short attention span, sensory impairments, poor motor coordination, delays in language, and emotional and behavior problems. Since preterm infants are fragile and minuscule, parents of preterm infants tend to be more distant when caring for their child. Preterm infants are less likely to be held close, touched, or talked to by their parents compared to full–term infants (Berk, 2013). This paper focuses on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Skin–to–Skin (Kangaroo) Care Through research, skin–to–skin (kangaroo) care has been shown to be one of the most affective early interventions used by parents. It has been stated that kangaroo care helps to regulate preterm infants ' body temperatures, improve preterm infants ' breathing patterns and blood oxygen levels, and increase the rate at which preterm infants gain weight. Kangaroo care has been known to diminish apnea, slow heart rates, and hospital stays for preterm babies. Kangaroo care intervention includes rhythmic, sensory, and tactile elements. These elements help preterm infants ' attention span, development of both motor and mental skills, and cognitive development. When a mother participates in kangaroo care, the preterm infant is placed in between her breasts and when a father participates in this type of intervention, the preterm infant is placed next to his chest. Mothers who participate in kangaroo care state they have more positive emotions toward their baby and they have a better feel of their parenting role (Feldman, Eidelman, Sirota, & Weller, 2002). Their goal is to provide essential human services, as well as protect the health for all Americans. Specifically, the area of infant health focuses on the period of rapid development from birth to one year age. The factors that contribute to infant health is not only attributed to the child, but also extends to the health of the mother and their family support system as well. For example, poverty, lack of education, drug abuse, and domestic violence are the usual suspects of the problem (Olson, 2010). An individual's social economic status (SES) is one of the most important predictors of health because it can influence the extent to which other factors may provide protection from health inequities. Individuals with a low SES are more likely to experience poor nutrition, lack of housing, and greater exposure to environmental hazards (Source). This suggests that the disparities in social economic status in American society is correlated to inadequate access to healthcare. In addition, researchers investigated the relationships between income and income inequality with neonatal and infant health outcomes in the United States. This study suggested that the current public programs designed to meet the health needs of the poorest infants in this nation does not adequately reach those who need it the most. As a result, this implied that health care access for everyone may not be sufficient (Braveman, 2008). It is necessary to focus on interventions that address the problem of poverty and decrease income inequality first that will lead to improvements in infant health outcomes in the United States. • 11. Childhood Metaphors An analysis of poems discussing the different ideas of infancy and what infancy and childhood means to different people. The ideas of infancy vary across the poems from being a curse to the family to being a blessing from the heavens or even a key to break out of the boundaries set by reality. The poets use various literary devices such as metaphors, similes and different poem structure to convey the message that they carry. Each poem has its own viewpoint on infancy. On the whole four of the poems, "Infant Joy" –William Blake, "You're"– Sylvia Plath, "Once upon a time" – Gabriel Okara and "Piano" by D.H. Lawrence all have a more positive view towards infancy whereas, " Infant Sorrow" – William Blake and "Prayer before birth" – Louis MacNeice show a more pessimistic side towards infancy. Despite the fact that each poem has its own different point of view on the subject of infancy, they all seem to share one thought which is the fact that infancy represents innocence and in some cases a fresh start. At first glance, William Blake's "Infant Joy" shows readers that the mother is extremely happy and delighted to have had a baby. The first two lines of the poem, "I have no name: I am but two days old." Gives readers the impression that babies represent a sense of purity and innocence as the baby doesn't even have his own name. A more in depth look would be to see the baby as a clean canvas which has yet to be painted on by society and how the environment of a child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The welfare and safety of the baby must be of most importance, the practitioner must ensure all the toys and play equipment are suitable for the baby depending on their age and ability and that all the toys are safe with no choking hazards. Maintaining professional relationships with the parents and the baby is essential as without a good bond with the child they wont feel safe with the practitioner, the relationship with the parents is important to ensure that information is shared correctly between the practitioner and the parent so that they are aware of any changes in the baby or the baby's needs. Positive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Care routines also help the practitioner to know what has been done and what needs doing next. In most early year's settings, babies are assigned to a key worker, a key worker forms good relationships with the baby and their parents and are responsible for getting to know the child personally and knowing their abilities, needs and preferences and then each key worker creates individual learning plans for each baby. Key workers must observe the baby regularly and record information about the baby to plan appropriate activities to push them to the next level of development. Key workers are also important when communicating and sharing information with parents and carers, and when necessary, other professionals. This is important asthe key worker will know the child better than others within the setting and will be aware of all development areas and issues that may affect the baby's development or behaviour. Key workers should be able to gain the trust of the baby and the parents so that they can come to the key worker with any problems, if the baby trusts the key worker they will have a positive relationships and the baby will be settled and comfortable around them. • 17. Unintentional Injuries In Childhood General Discussion Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of pediatric mortality, with preventable injuries killing more Canadian children than any other single disease (Parachute, 2016, Statistics Canada, 2012). Each year in Canada, preventable injuries cause 16,000 deaths, 60,000 disabilities, 3.5 million emergency room visits and most stingingly, onechild dies every 9 hours as a result of an unintentional injury (Parachute, 2016). When examining infants specifically, research has identified that majority of unintentional injuries (90%) occur in and around the home, when infants are presumably being monitored by a responsible caregiver (National Safety Council, 1991; Rivara, Calonge, & Thompson, 1989, Morrongiello & corbet ). Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... danger, risk, and potential severity), caregivers must assume the role of actively implementing precautions to prevent injuries. Although there has been research devoted to understanding parental safety precautions to children 2 years and older, and there is literature to suggest that parental supervision is an important determinant for childhood injury (Morrongiello, Corbett, & Brison, 2009; Porter et al., 2007), there is virtually nothing known about the nature and scope of parental supervision infants receive in the home, and surprisingly little is known about the nature of injury–risk behaviours, during infancy and how parents become alert to these. Indeed, previous research has identified peaks in different types of injuries that occur in synchrony with the acquisition of motor skills (Agran et al., 2003), however how parents respond and adjust to ongoing changes in infant's abilities has been overlooked in the supervision literature. This is surprising given the fact that this developmental time period can be especially challenging for parents; not only must caregivers be able to accurately predict their children's next behavioural milestone; they must also take into account the individual variabilities of when certain capabilities may emerge and adjust safety precautions accordingly. Infancy is a unique developmental period therefore, given that someone is always providing direct care and can be thought of the responsible authority associated with the injury event. Hence, this study was important not only for examining how caregiver supervision practices change as infants gain greater mobility, but to explore whether child characteristics (e.g., developmental level) and parent characteristics (e.g., supervision practices) interact synergistically with infant's risk behaviours and injury outcomes. • 29. Infanticide Is The Killing Of An Infant This paper discusses whether it is ever permissible to commit infanticide or not. Infanticide is the killing of an infant or the practice of killing newborn infants. It is a difficult subject to discuss since infanticide seems morally repugnant at first glimpse, though it becomes increasingly complicated as we reflect on particular nuances in real world cases. ROADMAP: I argue that it is impermissible to commit infanticide under any circumstance since committing murder of a person under any circumstance is wrong. Infanticide in simple words is the murder of a newborn infant. There is no difference between killing a newborn and a fully grown adult. Both of them can be defined as persons since they both possess a human essence that makes ... However, this objection isn't valid since eventually even infants will develop the capability to think, retain memories and value life since abilities are developmental in nature. Also, if rationality and self awareness define personhood and determine the moral significance of persons, then there are many fully grown adults who can be disqualified as persons, for example an adult under coma. According to this argument, since comatose patients are unconscious and can't rationally think at the time, killing them would be permissible too. ARGUMENT I argue that infanticide is impermissible under any circumstance. I will support my stance by arguing against Peter Singer's argument that supports the infanticide of disabled infants. In "Taking Life: Humans," Singer states that if we can morally kill a disabled fetus that has no self–consciousness, it follows that we can morally kill a disabled infant that has no self–consciousness. Take note that Singer argues in favor of committing infanticide of only disabled infants if it serves the interests of the parents. He does not argue that it is right to ... • 34. How Infants Develop Their Language Or Communication Skills... I am a firm believer in the idea that everything we learn, see, touch and experience can have a lasting effect on us. For my controversy paper I will be discussing how infants develop their language or communication skills from the way their parents talk to them. While talking to a baby who may not be able to talk yet or does not even seem to be responding to you may seem silly. But it actually has a lasting effect on their language development. Even from when they are so small something as simple as talking to them can make a difference in their lives. Parents need to talk to babies as soon as possible because it can make such a difference in their development. I strongly believe and my view is for the more interaction with infants. They need it to grow and develop into the best possible version of yourself. All though infants are usually known for not speaking, they do participate in communication in their own way. They do this hearing, gazing, babbling, looking and smiling through their auditory and visual senses.A newborn infant primary way of communication is by the turn of it head when hearing sounds. The voice of the child's mother that they remember from the womb or the caregiver would get the most responsive communicational feedback.Which is why it is essential for parents to take time to communicate with their children even if their babies. This controversy is basically how the more parents speak to their infants it seems to correlate with how much vocabulary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Characteristics Of Child-Directed Speech ( CDS ) "Talking to children has always been fundamental to language development, but new research reveals that the way we talk to children is key to building their ability to understand and create sentences of their own. The exaggerated speech we naturally use with young children is a special register – often called 'motherese'" (Medical Xpress , 2011). Moreover, child–directed speech (CDS) plays an important role in language acquisition because while modifying and adjusting speech to a child, this keeps their attention and meets the needs of providing understanding to the young addressee. Child–directed speech (CDS), also referred to as infant–directed speech (IDS) or motherese is a speech register that is characterized by pitch and intonation, slower speech rates with pauses in between words, shorter simple sentences and frequent repetition (O'Brien, 2017). Moreover, the role child–directed speech (CDS) plays in language acquisition is that it modifies and adjusts speech directed to children and keeps their attention as well as meets the needs of providing understanding to the young addressee (Clarke, p. 45). This paper will examine the cultural variations embedded in child–directed speech (CDS) and how the characteristics of child–directed speech (CDS) differ cross–culturally. Specifically, this essay will show evidence of cultural variation from several case studies by focusing on the differences and similarities in prosodic characteristics within child–directed speech (CDS) ... • 39. Co Sleeping Research Paper There are many different types of co sleeping, not just sleeping in your parents' bed. The first type of co sleeping and the most common form is known as "bed–sharing." This is when the infant and/or toddler sleeps in the same bed as his or her parent(s). The second type of co sleeping is known as the "sidecar arrangement." In this type of co sleeping the crib, with one of its sides taken off, is set next to the mother's side of the bed. This removal of one of the sides allows for easy access between mom and baby. The next type of co sleeping is when the baby's crib is somewhere in the parent's room but not directly next to mom. The final type of co sleeping is when the child is welcomed into the parents' bed at any time throughout the night but does not start the night in mom and/or dad's bed. Children begin their night in his or her own bed but if they are awoken in the night they are welcome to go into their parent's bed. • 40. Teaching A New Family About Shaken Baby Syndrome Teaching a New Family About Shaken Baby Syndrome Patient Information The patient focused on in this teaching project was a four–day–old NICU patient at Children's Hospital of Colorado. Baby Haven was born at 34 weeks gestation to a mother who had used alcohol, marijuana and tobacco while pregnant. Additionally, she claimed to have not known she was pregnant until July and did not seek prenatal care until September, one month before the birth of baby Haven. The birth mother made the choice to put Haven up for adoption. I met the adoptive mother and father while caring for Haven the day before her discharge. Although she was premature and born to a mother who used substances, she showed no signs of respiratory distress, neurologic defects or feeding difficulties. She was an Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR) fetus, likely due to maternal substance abuse and weighed 1.9 kilograms at discharge. However, she was successfully bottle–feeding with Similac 24 Kcal formula and had only lost three percent of her birth weight. Based on her eagerness to feed, her stable vital signs, stable glucose and thriving personality, her neonatologist felt as if she were ready to discharge and this is where nursing education came into play. Haven is her adoptive parent 's first child and although they were very prepared and delighted to be taking her home, they voiced concerns regarding taking care of a premature infant. The adoptive father works on oil rigs and has a two week on/two week ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Mongolian Culture In The Film Babies The movie Babies, showcased the beginnings of a Mongolian child. Its environment, homelife, cultural upbringings and its day to day occurrences are highlighted, and based on what I've seen, I can say that the people of Mongolia conduct different cultural traditions as opposed to American societies which I am accustomed to. To be more specific, the way that children in Mongolia are raised, cared for, and get used to the real world are significantly different than America's way of doing things, or at least my way of seeing things. The state of awe I was in when a newborn baby was wrapped up super tight was immense, I feared for the baby's life! You could hear the blanket making a rip–like noise as it was tightened. How would the Mongolian culture see America's culture... my culture? In my culture, we don't do too much swaddling, it still occurs here but it isn't that commonly practiced. We put plastic pacifiers in the mouths of our children, and in the eyes of Mongolians, it isn't natural to be doing that, and they'd look at us funny for not doing something more natural. The Mongolians would look at us odd for how much we watch our babies and how many machines we use to monitor our babies, especially since heart monitors aren't natural. We as Americans "baby" our children and the fact that we look after our kids as much as we possibly can, they'd find ridiculous. The extra reading and class taking we Americans do would be seen as an extreme to Mongolians, along with the lack of independence we give our children. And lastly, the fact that an adult has to be present at all times for the babies sake overwatching the baby's actions would be ridiculous; Their kids can take care of themselves at a younger age than ours can it ...
