IMPLEMENTATION
Task assignment
Initial situation- day 1
The day before, students receive letters asking them to pack for the trip - suitcases, bags.
Room preparation - Airport
1) Weighing luggage - check-in (they receive their destination on a piece of paper)
2) Board - departures
3) Ticket purchase (service in English)
On each ticket students have an indicated place to which they are flying (inscriptions on
the doors of 5 rooms, e.g. Antarctica, Scotland, Egypt, Siberia, Brazil).
In the rooms the task of the students is to find out on their own the place they are in - the
place on the world map, climate, weather, language, curiosities - according to the list that
students will receive at the entrance (the list will be prepared by people responsible for the
rooms)
The teacher plays the role of a guide and asks the students to use the things they have
packed and prepare for sightseeing (the students can present themselves or get dressed -
3. the children's decision). It is also worth discussing what the children have packed - what will
be needed for the trip and what has been packed unnecessarily.
Open task
Based on the seen photos students prepare a holiday card - designing a card (art
materials).
Address the card to school and write greetings from your trip.
WORKSHOPS-during three days students participate in workshops taking turns so that
every group participates in each workshop.
1. Around the world-students take their places at the art table and make a Swedish style
musical instrument. They perform it according to the instructions using the available
materials, gluing or painting a flag of Sweden on it. Next, the students search for
information about the history of Belgian dance using the internet. They prepare a note and
the dance. Students dress up in dancing costumes and practice the dance. Finally they
record the video in which they present their dance skills.
2. Class trip- student plan a five-day class trip to a dream place. They look at the map of
the world together using the globe. They indicate what is important when planning a trip:
purpose, number of people, budget. They focus on the cost of the trip in PLN for the whole
class and per one participant of the trip. The costs include: travel, accommodation, meals
entrance ticket to visited objects, insurance. All the work is presented in the form of a
poster or an Excel spreadsheet.
3. Off we go!- students create a tourist map in English in a paper form. They prepare a
map of Poland on which they mark five most interesting places in a various aspects,
determining the route of the journey. Using a string, pins and a corkboard, they mark the
hiking trail to follow. All the places should be signed in Polish and English with hand-drawn
illustrations. Students make a map legend in which they describe why they have chosen
each of the marked places.
The older group of students create a tourist brochure advertising Asian countries that offer
tourists cultural, historical and geographical diversity. The brochure is created in digital
form in Canva or Vistacreate. It presents three historical and three natural attractions,
three traditional dishes and three tourist attractions.
4. Classes I-III: younger students participate in three different workshops about the history
of pizza, traditional Mexican costumes and making a world map.
Every day of the workshops there was a lecture held by a specialist. All the lectures were
conducted by experienced travellers talking about their trips, cruises and journeys around
the world. They showed their photos, recorded videos and they presented curiosities and
interesting adventures while exploring new destinations.
