1. We decided to use the girl in the poster within the poster as it gives the audience a sense of distorted reality, which ties in with the theme of our video of fantasy, and obsession where nothing seems real. We decided to use a wall for number of reasons. Firstly it references the album title of ‘Wall of Arms. Secondly this was another reference to the wall in the girl’s room with many pictures on it. The wall also references an urban setting, which the band comes from (South-London). We also knew that the indie audience could relate to the idea of the poster on the wall as it references the cliché of sticking rock/ indie poster on bedroom walls We included other track names from the album as it highlighted the advert were for an album instead of a single. It promotes the album as it draws in the attention of indie genre fans that would already be aware of the other songs. The girl used o the front of the poster is the girl featured in the video. We decided to use this as intertextuality as it created a link between the video and the magazine advert as those who had seen the music video would instantly recognize the girl. The girl is walking as it continues the theme of the music video and digi-pack of the girl being a continuous journey 25146000We decided to use plain red font for our magazine advert. This is in keeping with red being the color of our motif. The text is positioned at either end of the page so when an audience were to look at it, it would push their attention towards the main focal image. We decided to put the Maccabees at the top of the page, as this would be what would initially grab the audience’s attention. We put the release date and featured tracks so that the audience could easily relate the poster back to our original video. We decided to use a plain and simple text, as it is typical of an indie genre as well as not attracting too much attention away from the images at the centre of the page We decided to use the doll as it references the video, as it is our recurring main motif. As the magazine advert is for an album we decided that we would only have a few references to the video so that it was clear that this was an album release, not a single We decided to use two shots of the band playing to highlight their indie genre. Indie videos are often quite performance based. However within our video we had no performance, which led us to the decision of putting live performance on the magazine advert. We also realized that the band are not featured in the music video or the digi-pack and so we decided not just the music of the band, but the band themselves as a brand
