Should the mere fact that criminals committing crimes with the use of guns infringe the national
right of the innocent to possess guns. This is a question that arouses everywhere and no matter
which way it is viewed the controversy will always go on. "A gun is a mere tool that can be used
for good or evil. Our country is based on the belief that man is good until he or she is proven to be
otherwise."(Harris p.2) This means that only a few people are committing crimes with uses of guns
and why completely remove them from society. Therefore, we should strenuously protect the rights
of free men and likewise prosecute and punish the criminals who abuse the rights of others. The
problem with gun violence is associated with the...show more content...
The issue on gun control completely contradicts this Amendment. The Amendments have been set
and not altered for hundreds of years. So why break them now. It is all just a group of frightened
people that do not want to be frightened anymore.
Gun control activists oppose all the factual statistics that have ever been proven they do this because
they are denying the truth that guns will cause more good that harm. Theses activists have their
minds made up because no matter who says what or what happens they are negative on guns, despite
the facts. Now there are 31 states that have non–discretionary concealed gun carry laws that allow
law–abiding citizens to carry concealed handguns for protection in public, even this can't change
their minds.
Even as the clearest evidence has vindicated this policy, opponents of tough criminal justice laws
deny its efficacy. Instead, a competing idea has grown up to explain violence among us. And with
that idea has grown up a new policy to combat crime. This policy seeks to displace tough
punishment of the guilty. Indeed it does not even address itself directly to those who commit
crimes. Rather it addresses a tool that criminals, as well as millions of law–abiding citizens
sometimes use. When infact the government says they only prosecute

2. Essay on An Argument Against Gun Control
Argument Against Gun Control
An Argument Against Gun Control As long ago as 1789, the creators of the Constitution realized the
importance of guns in American society. The Second Amendment states,"A well regulated Militia,
being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not
be infringed." No loopholes, or legal caches exist in this statement. The Founding Fathers allow for
no restriction of the private ownership of firearms. Yet, in recent years anti–gun politicians have
attempted to control guns in the name of crime prevention. Gun control makes no effort to control
criminals, does not reduce crime, takes guns from responsible sportsmen and...show more content...
Ultimately, people's choices lead them to drive recklessly, overindulge in unhealthy food, and use
firearms to commit violent crimes. So, criminals should be controlled, not the guns which they share
with millions of law–abiding citizens. Gun control supporters claim that gun control lowers crime
rate. Gun control does nothing to reduce crime. A study conducted by the Urban Institute regarding
The Clinton Gun Ban Law of 1995, finds that "because the banned guns and magazines were never
used in more than a fraction of all gun murders, even the maximum theoretically achievable
preventive effect of the ban on gun murders is almost certainly too small to detect statistically..."
Joseph Constance, the Deputy Police Chief of Trenton, New Jersey, states: "Assault weapons are
used in an underwhelming .026 of 1% of crimes in New Jersey. This means that my officers are
more likely to confront an escaped tiger from the local zoo, than to confront an assault rifle in the
hands of a drug–crazed killer on the streets." West Virginia stands as an example of the inaccurate
thinking of gun control advocates. This state has the highest number of guns per person in the
nation, yet it has the lowest number of crimes per person in the nation.
Gun control has little or no effect on crime. Gun control advocates believe that

Anti–Gun Control "Gun violence has significantly decreased in the past 20 years. Violent gun
crimes and violent crimes in general have been decreasing since the early 1990s..." according to
James Jacobs a director of Center for Research in Crime and Justice at New York. There are many
misconceptions about gun violence some pro–gun control supporters want you to believe like
almost twice the amount of gun violence related deaths are actually suicides by guns because
suicide is illegal. Another misconception is "Assault" rifles are super advanced but there only
normal rifles with "military like" features such as bayonets or pistol grips. Laws and policies from
other places would not work in the U.S. There are many other reasons why you should support
anti–gun control.
Firstly, gun registrations have failed in many ways. In "some states 90% of gun owners have
unregistered firearms," according to James. New York, for example, has " nearly 1 million people of
gun owners not registered," according to Forbes. Another reason why gun registration doesn't work
is the black or grey market. A survey of inmates show overwhelmingly that criminals obtain guns on
the black market or the grey market. Having gun registration hasn't...show more content...

supporters are just exercising their right their fathers and grandfathers fought for. Gun control would
not stop any criminal from purchasing a weapon, any mass shooter, terrorist, or even innocent

other large cities, so making it harder for outstanding citizens to exercise their rights. Other policies,
our president and pro–gun control supporters praise, from Europe and other areas wouldn't work.

Thesis Statement: Gun control decreases crime. If gun control is regulated, then we will have less
crime. Access to firearms makes killing easy, efficient, and impersonal, which increases the
lethality of crime. Josh Sugarmann, the Executive Director of the Violence Policy Center has once
said, "We recoil in horror and search for explanations, but we never face up to the obvious
preventive measure: a ban on the handy killing machines that make crimes so easy."Allowing
untrained people to carry guns puts others at risk and it can result in self–inflicting injuries both by
suicide and unintentional incidents. Gun violence in America kills more than 30,000 and injures
almost 70,000 each year. Guns can be misused and abused, which is why gun...show more content...

violence outnumbered those claiming to have used a gun in self–defense by more than 4 to 1. *
Guns kept in the home were 22 times more likely to be used in unintentional shootings, murder or
assault, and suicide attempts than in an act of self–defense. * In Japan and England many police on
patrol do not carry firearms because in those countries, gun control has decreased the number of
guns used by criminals. * The U.S. doesn't even require a background check every time a gun is
sold and allows the sale of assault clips holding more than 10 bullets. This makes it easy for
dangerous people to get their hands on lethal firepower. Works Cited * "Taming the Gun Monster:

School shootings in the United States have ignited national debate about how to decrease gun

Many times an over zealous government takes actions that cannot be justified. A good example of
this is the Ruby Ridge Incident, where a mans wife and son were killed over a minor firearm
offense. Some States have enacted their own laws. Florida has allowed its citizens to carry a
concealed weapon. Since this law was enacted the murder rate has dropped by 29%. Over the same
period of time the nationwide murder rate increased by 11%. This clearly shows that guns in the
hands of law–abiding citizens can prevent crime. In contrast many of our countries major cities
have banned all guns. In 1976 guns were banned in Washington DC. Since then the murder rate
has risen 400%. According to a CBS poll, 64% of Americans rightfully understand and don't

7. Persuasive Essay Against Gun Control
In America today, there are a lot of problems that cause our country to divide. One of which is the
distribution and use of firearms. Many people in the U.S. own guns or at least know someone who
does. The banning of guns is a discussion that many people are taking sides on. There are many
reasons why guns cannot be banned. Everybody should be able to purchase and use firearms
because they are protected by the second amendment, they can be used recreationally, and they will
protect us if we encounter any danger threatening our lives.
First, guns are protected in the second amendment. In the 1700s, our founding fathers wrote our
constitution. Within it, there were many written rights given to Americans that were called
amendments. In the second amendment, they claimed that all men should have the right to bear
arms. The founding father put a lot of thought into this amendment and if the people who built our
country from the ground up believed that we should have the right to own and use guns, then why
should anyone believe that they were wrong in making this decision? People nowadays are trying to
change our given right and those people will lead our country into turmoil. They plan to discredit the
founding fathers and rewrite our constitution with rules that they want. They cannot do this yet
because there are not enough Americans that will go along with this plan, but in the future things
may change and we will have to suffer the consequences. Our rights are secured by the Declaration
of Independence and nobody can ever change that.
Next, guns can be used for recreational purposes as well. People can see what it feels like to shoot
different types of guns and it is pretty fun. People can go do target practice with their families and
just have fun together. There are many athletic teams that use guns for recreation such as the trap
shooting team and the biathlon for skiing, which is in the olympics. All of these provide a fun
experience and if guns were banned, none of this would be possible.
Lastly, criminals will still obtain guns even if they are banned. Do you think that criminals just go to
a gun store and purchase them there? No. They get their guns illegally from the black market or
other sources. They

8. Why Is Anti Gun-Control Necessary? Essay
The banning of firearms in America is an illegal act, and degrades the values this country was
founded on. They not only play a vital role in many people's lives, but are useful tools, fun to use,
and can protect people from harm. Our founding fathers wanted us to have them to protect ourselves
from the government, and would be disgusted at our government's current abuse, and overall
disregard of the constitution of the United States. A lot of people argue that guns kill people; this is
untrue. Guns in the hands of a negligent person have potential to kill people, just as anything else.
The statement В‘The Right to Keep and Bear Arms' from the U.S constitution seems like a pretty
solid sentence. There is really no way to misinterpret it....show more content...
However, modern times still seem to be very compatible with firearms.
Guns have numerous uses besides killing your fellow man. Hunting is a big reason to own a
weapon. Across the country, people hunt game; small and big. Some people might see this as a
cruel act, but in most states the White Tailed Dear is amazingly overpopulated. Not many complain
when you kill a cow to eat a hamburger, so it shouldn't be an issue to go hunting. People also enjoy
shooting guns at targets. You can do long range sniping with rifles, shoot clay pigeons in the air with
shot guns, or shoot targets with a hand gun. Each hobby is completely harmless, and enjoyable.
Along with the recreational activities that firearms make possible, there is self defense. Let's face it
– if you're in your home at night with an intruder in the house, who will act faster, 911 or a firearm in
the hands of a trained user? The answer is obvious. In an emergency situation, a firearm is almost
an essential. One might argue that the odds of you being held up in your own house are slim;
well so are the odds of a gun related death. If a gun user is properly trained, a gun can and would
protect people in case of an emergency.
In America, the outright banning of things that out of touch congressmen feel is harmful is all too
common. For instance, if you take the year where the absolute MOST gun deaths occurred in
America it would be 2003, and the number would be around 30,000. There were 85,000 alcohol

Weapons in the hands of these people cause massacres. Furthermore, weapons such as the AR–15
and AK–47 were developed for war. Developed to inflict maximum amount of casualties in little
amount of time. Something that is overkill for protection or hunting. As Ronald Reagan states "An
AK–47 in not a sporting weapon, nor needed for defense of a home (Snopes, Arms Talks)". Reagan
didn't want to take the 2nd Amendment away from people, but to make the purchase of a weapon

As well the AR–15 hold 30 rounds of ammunition, which is way too much for hunting or protection.

Gun Control (Against)
Gun control is a law that controls how guns are sold and used, and who can own them. Allowing
people to possess and use a gun with legal documents in the United States is legal. There have
been arguments on whether or not is should be legal to own a gun as some people see it as
beneficial and others do not. It is believed that guns are beneficial to have, and they are there
because we need to be able to protect ourselves. We should not allow the government to have power
over gun control for many reasons including the loss of tradition of hunting, not being able to
protect ourselves, and simply because of the second amendment.
Hunting has been around for as long as people have been on this earth and if that were taken away
completely some people would lose that sense of nature to hunt. Hunting is people who kill
animals for food, clothing, or sport. In 2011 13.7 million people, 6% of the U.S. population 16 years

This is the main reason why the government should not take away our guns, we have the right to

law back in 1791, so almost 230 years ago this law was here in our great country of the United States
of America. This is our right and it should be here to stay.
Allowing the government to have power over gun control is a careless mistake, we use guns for
many things including the loss of tradition of hunting, not being able to protect ourselves, and
simply because of the second amendment. Owning a gun is a privilege just as much as a right so
people should definitely use it responsibly. If people can not use it right then they should not own

11. Gun control is a big debate in the US right now, some people believe that guns are just too
dangerous for the citizens of america, and some want the citizens of america to be allowed to be
armed with firearms. Without any doubt US citizens should be allowed to be armed. To add on
firearms are used in self defense 2.5 million times in a year. Taking away people's rights to guns
would take away a lot of their protection, because police officers can't be everywhere all the time
and protect every one. So we need to be able to protect ourselves from bad people, and keeping
guns or having guns makes most people feel safer. Some people plead, not all guns are used for

example drugs are illegal but police are still finding them on bad people. What would make guns

12. An Argument Against Gun Control Essay
The Gun Control issue has sparked major controversy in America today. People who support gun
control feel that guns are the reason for the soaring crime rate in our country. I disagree with the
supporters of gun control. I feel that because of the black market, violent criminals being released
from prison early, and the need to ensure personal safety, stricter gun control will have very little
impact on violent crime in America.
I believe that gun control works in theory, but not in real life. Sure, there are many violent crimes
where guns are used, but most of these guns are obtained illegally, because the gun control laws
enforced are not enough.
With the growing gun–related crime rate in the United States today, many bills have...show more

It also prohibited dealers from selling handguns out of state, and out–of–state residents from buying
handguns (Bender 51). These have not eliminated gun–related crime either.
A majority of the American people feel that gun control laws will help reduce crime rates because
the waiting period would allow time for a person's temper to cool down. They also feel that gun
control will prevent repeat offenders because when a person tries to purchase a handgun, he will
have to fill out a lengthy questionnaire. The questionnaire will include questions about the buyer's
past, for example, if they have a criminal record or a record of any mental illness. If there is a
criminal record in that person's history, he will not be able to make the purchase. Restricting
handgun ownership would also reduce crime, because guns are used most often in robberies and
murders (Mayer 28). They are very easily concealed under a coat, or even in the waistband of pants.
The problem with statements like the above is that people are forgetting about the black market. If a
person is planning on buying a handgun for criminal purposes, he is not likely to buy it through a
dealer. If he buys a gun through a dealer, the gun has to be registered in that person's name. If the
gun is used in any crime or murder where a shot is fired and the gun is left behind, the police could
very easily trace the gun to that person.

However, not all guns should be aloud and open to the public. In most cases assault weapons are

students were lucky to prevent any deaths from happening.
Furthermore, more gun laws would not stop a criminal from possessing a gun. Criminals already

Against gun control
Whenever people hear the word guns in any sentence, there frighten by the idea it can kill anyone,
but it reality it can also save us from certain death ourselves. Gun were made to protect us, guns
don't kill people people kill people and it's one the common mistake people make when it comes to
decided to add gun control or not. They are part of the United States amendments and they are the
reason why we all are protected in our society. Without guns to protect us, people can step on us and
take over our city and even the country itself without protection.People has the mind to believe that
gun kills when in reality people kills people which is why i am against gun control.
One of the reason why we get the idea to protect ourselves with guns goes way back to the american
revolution. The American Revolution began in a dispute over gun control when British Redcoats
marched toward Lexington and Concord to disarm farmers there.we had so many wars and we
finally won and separated from the British. We must, therefore, hold onto our guns legally or
illegally for the very same reason the colonists did.
Gun prohibition may sound like a good thing to control over who can use guns but sometimes gun
prohibition can be sexist.Police and society expects women to resist rape by using their fists,
fingernails, keyrings, and scream for help, But why does any women must protect them self that
way? In 2000 and until now, there have been about 75% of rapes in California that looks very
serious and it questions us how are any women are supposed to protect themselves that way. There
is a best solution to solve all this and the best way is to own a gun. We should buy a gun and learn to
use it and the reason why women are more likely to be raped or assaulted or robbed is because many
believe that women are weak and scared enough to go and beg the State for protection. A woman
who stands proud, armed, and fearless will be able to scare anyone who tries to hurt us in any way
possible.
We have rights to own our guns, There are bad people in this country splitting us away from our
families and killing them and there are rapist out there. We need protection wherever we go.Cops are

people, that equates to almost one gun per person. There are 8 million firearms produced globally
each year, of which 4.5 million are purchased by Americans. Now while those statistics are
staggering, it's only fair to mention that only 20% of the population owns 65% of the U.S.
firepower. Most people argue that it is the second amendment right to keep and bear arms, but what
does the constitution actually say? "A well–regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free
state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."...show more content...
The U.S. makes up 5% of the world's population, but owns between 35% and 50% of the world's
civilian firearms (Kiger, 2003). Yes Finland and Switzerland have highgun–ownership rates too but
there crime rates are much lower and they enforce stricter gun control laws. For example, In
Finland police have the authority to deny or revoke a person's gun license if the applicant is
convicted of a crime that they feel may imply they wouldn't be a safe gun owner. They also don't
allow large–capacity magazines and any gun that is take outside of the owner's home must be
unloaded and stored in a locked cabinet. As a final note, Finland requires you to list your reason for
gun ownership and they do not consider self–defense as a valid reason. Now most Americans cite
self–defense as their reason for owning a gun, but how often are firearms actually used for that
purpose? A study found that guns are used for defensive measures approximately 2.5 million times
each year, that's only 1% use of a gun for defensive purposes. To add to that, people who use guns
are 4.5% more likely to be shot in an assault than those who are unarmed (Kiger,

20. Argumentative Essay On Gun Control
Gun control is a vital necessity to the welfare of our nation. Many people out there are supporting the
"anti– gun control cause" with the excuse of "self–defense". I believe that not everyone will handle a
gun for self–defense. The possession of a gun is a sign of power. One of the bigger ambitions that
one has is to have power and the easier it is to obtain a gun; the faster a criminal will gain power
over an innocent person. When one is in possession of a gun, that person has complete control of
their actions and may act upon the weapon however the person may please even if they know that
their action will cause harm to defense–less people. There are many deaths caused by guns out there
that could have been stopped by controlling the...show more content...
I always tell my sister that if she is not strong enough to control herself, she will never be strong
enough to control others and will resort to the easiest ways to "eliminate" that person. She will do
whatever is easier to get that stone out of her way rather than talking things over and controlling the
situation.
Not so long ago my neighbor's daughter was killed by her ex. I am positive that this could have
been stopped. I do not know how the man obtained the gun, but I am sure it was through an illegal
way. He is not a policeman, he worked at a supermarket. He does not live in a violent area. He
lived in Bergenfield with his girlfriend. The man did go buy a gun a day before because he knew
that he wanted to kill his girlfriend. The saddest part is that he killed the girl because she wanted
to break up with him. This is what we want for our country? For people to kill their former
boyfriends/girlfriends because that person ended the relationship. This tragedy could have not been
stopped by the girl having a gun with her. In fact, she might have had to face years of prison for
murder and carrying a gun without a license. Sure, gun control will not eliminate violence or
completely prevent criminals from obtaining guns. Criminals have their ways to go around the law
but by having gun control the murders and assaults with gun will lessen. I know that everyone has
rights but the 2nd amendment is misinterpreted. We are not in war with England anymore and

21. Essay on Three Reasons Against Gun Control
A controversial subject in America today is gun control; should there be or should there not be. I
do not know the answer to this question, but I do have an opinion as most citizen of our country.
All trough our history guns have been used for the good of the people, and on the other hand,
they have been used for the not so good of the people; however, as with most things there is a
good use and a bad use. I believe the good uses out weigh the bad uses in this case. In this essay I
am going to discuss three reasons I am against gun control: one being it is our constitutional right to
bear arms, two every citizen should have the right to protect themselves, their family, and their
property, and three for conservation purposes hunting...show more content...
He never used these guns to hurt or kill anybody he simply enjoyed having them and taking care
of them. He left these guns to my brother and now he enjoys doing the same things my
grandfather did with them, he has added pistols to the collection and the collection keeps
growing. He hopes one day to leave his collection to his son or grandson, but if gun control were
enacted he would not be able to continue this family tradition, and maybe lose what he and our
grandfather collected. Every citizen should be able to protect themselves, their families, and
their property. If it takes a gun to do this, then by all means, we should be able to have them in our
possession. If guns were taken away from the honest people, the dishonest people would find
ways to get them, and without a means of protection how could we protect what is ours. What I
am trying to say is if having a gun in your possession may keep someone from trying to harm us,
what we have, and own, then guns do not need to be taken from us. Maybe more restrictions
should be placed on purchasing guns; for example, fines put on people having guns in their
possession that are not registered to them, and also fine the person the gun is registered too. Law
enforcement agencies should be notified if a gun is no longer in the possession of the person it was
