9. I have looked at a number of horror film trailers and they all seem to share some
key elements;
• They start off with a representation of normal life within the story and then
something happens that changes that.
• The use of music in a horror movie trailer seems to be quite significant, they
usually start with a song that represents the normal happy life the characters
have, the music then goes quiet when the first incident happens, in a lot of the
trailer they reuse the same song from the start but edit it slightly, they usually
slow the song down or add a slight echo to make the song sound creepier.
• At the start of trailers they tend to have slow shots that portray the normal life
well, and then do quick action shots to show when things go bad, they will also
go quiet and linger on one shot when they put in a jump scare.
