2. EMID Co-Chair, a Dream
 After experiencing YEB for two years now, I
have been inspired to benefit my community
by being a great leader and making great
efforts. I believe that becoming Co-chair of
YEB would be a great step towards achieving
that dream.

3. What I Will Bring to the Table
 Although experience may not seem like the most important qualification, I
believe that it is essential to how YEB operates. I know how YEB
functions and I will be able to keep the group on track to achieving
everything that we set our minds to.
 I also believe that I bring a nice balance to YEB’s spontaneous energy. I
think my quieter nature would bring a calm atmosphere to the group when
we need to be serious.
 My leadership style, the West Bear, shows that I weigh all sides of an
issue and often times find places that need critiquing. Apart from the
Leadership Compass, I think that I am a unique leader who spends a lot
of time listening and analyzing instead of making unsupported choices. I
believe that I would use my leadership to shape up YEB and make it an
ideal youth organization.

4. Challenges for YEB and I
 This school year will no doubt be my toughest year of high
school. I will be taking on the challenge of balancing school,
sports, and YEB. Spring will be the most difficult time as I may be
absent from YEB due to golf, however, I have worked out a plan
to attend YEB as often as I can during that time. I will only be
absent from YEB when I am needed to play in a golf match. If I
only have practice scheduled on the day of YEB, I will attend
YEB.
 I believe that YEB’s greatest struggle will be making time for
everything. An example of this would be how we struggled to
prepare for Youth Day @ the Capitol and put the finishing
touches on our service projects. We also appeared to get off
track several times, or the group appeared to be lost with
members being at different points of progress.

5. Potentially a New YEB
 There are many parts of YEB that I would like to preserve
such as its ability to transform strangers into a family and its
great way of presenting Educational Equity and the
Achievement Gap. I would love to, however, improve YEB by
increasing the amount of volunteer opportunities as well as
hands on learning sessions where problems in our society
could be broken down and analyzed. As a response to these
problems, YEB would develop a solution to the problem as a
whole. I believe these changes would make YEB a broader
organization that dealt with more problems than just
education.

6. Educational Equity
 The most unique part of Educational Equity is the
word “Equity”. Equity is where all parties have
specialized resources that meet their personal
needs. In the education system this could be
shown as a personal tutor for each student. That
student would receive ample support and help so
that he/she would be successful in school. I
believe that Educational Equity should be the top
priority of YEB and of all schools.
