1. Question 1. In what ways
does your media product
use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of
real media products?
2. Our media product follows Goodwin’s
theory.
Our artist often looks straight at the camera.
We did not want to challenge this as I think it
is important for the artist to make a
connection with the audience. However, I feel
our music video may involve too many shots like
this and there could have been less.
3. We were influenced by music videos such as:
‘Can We Dance’ by ‘The Vamps’.
This video in particular influenced us through the visual style
because this video is at a house party. A lot of the props used are
things we thought could work well in our video too. We took some
elements of this video and incorporated it into our own:
• We used multi coloured balls in the bath.
• We also used red cups which we used as a major part in our video.
4. The genre of our song is pop and there are
many ways our video meets the same
conventions as other pop videos.
In a pop music video the artist
is the main focus. Even if other
things are happening in the
background it is still made
obvious that the artist is the
main focus.
In my media product I have tried
to meet the normal pop
conventions by making the artist

center of attention.

5. Throughout my media product the
artist lip syncs the song. This
meets the conventions of a pop
music video as the artist will
always be seen lip syncing the
song. This is the main convention
of a music video

I think the use of costume
in our video helps the
artist stand out, the 80’s
style jacket is very
colourful and interesting.
The bright red lipstick
also brings the artist to
the main attention as it
highlights her lips when
she is singing. This draws
more attention to the
artist and meets the
conventions of a music
video.
6. My digipak matches the conventions of
real media products.
I chose to use a
photo of the artist
looking forward which
breaks the forth wall
and therefore the
digipak connects to
the consumer.
A lot of pop artist’s
break the forth wall
(especially for their
first album) therefore
we decided to follow
the the conventions of
real media pop
products.
