Radiance Play Analysis
Radiance Radiance is a generally thought out play that varies in its values and morals. The main
focuses are visible to some but hidden to others. It mainly focuses on family, and such revolving so.
The play's focus is that three aboriginal sisters have gone their separate ways in life, but they reunite
at their mother's funeral. Before this all their mother failed to care for two of the sisters, the oldest
two, this led on resulting in them acquiring different thoughts that can be considered depressing or
even containing anger towards their mother. Cressy, who is the oldest sister holds secrets and
changing feelings towards the family, but remains quiet and calm. Mae, the middle child also holds
secrets against everyone while Cressy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The secret that she is in fact her mother. Throughout the play Cressy tries to reconnect with Nona,
and sometimes even shows hints of protecting her. Cressy didn't come to the funeral, she came to
Nona. The long time spent away from Nona while being a successful opera singer, with the
traveliing has led her into a sort of calm sad state. She is a Nona respects her very much, but with
this time away from another things could slowly lead apart, they could be closer. With Cressy, she
doesn't take a liking to romance, she holds a strong dislike towards it, but this is reasonable seeing
she was raped at the age of only twelve. She wants to protect Nona from romance, she could be
scared that Nona could go through the same fate she went through. The fact that hearing Nona is
pregnant shocked her a lot, and as Nona doesn't know who the father is, it starts to bring back horrid
memories. So Cressy has had it pretty rough, but there's more. Cressy has had a huge resentment
towards her mother since she was given up. Cressy thinks that she was just given away with no
second thought, she thought that her mother didn't even want them or want to see them again. It
completely ruined the relationship between the two from Cressy's'

Thoan Etirelle
The kingdoms had been warring for as long as anyone could remember, yet now, faced with twenty
years of peace, the current reigning kings had decided there was no more need to fight. To ensure
there would be no more lives lost between the kingdom, a marriage treaty had been formed, and
passed through the required king's advisors and councils, quicker than the blink of an eye. They had
all wanted the peace as much as the monarchs did. And how willing the monarchs were to marry off
their children to make a statement.
Only three months later, Henry Webber, Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Thoan, and Marianne
Bonnefoy, the Princess and only daughter to the King of Etirelle stood before the altar. They had
never met. Marianne had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hall was filled to the brim, full of Thoanian nobles, landowners and minstrels, and even the
people of the capital city invited in for the celebration. And at the very front, at a large raised table,
sat the now connected royal families, two seats in the middle reserved for Mr. and Mrs. Webber. The
Prince and Princess.
Marianne met Henry in the middle of the hall, where he took her hand again, and led her up to her
seat. He took a moment to pull out her chair, and his hand lingered on her shoulder for half of a
second. He slid into his seat beside her as his father stood, beginning to make a toast about unity and
chivalry, and the power the two kingdoms would have together... Marianne tried her best to pay
attention. Truly she did. But it had been a long day, and even longer weeks preparing for this day.
Sea journeys and carriage rides and scalding hot baths... What sounded best right now was a warm
bed.
"Hey." Marianne's head jolted up as the hall burst into applause, and a band started into a rousing
chorus. Henry was leaning in close, looking at her expectantly. She must have fallen asleep. People
from every corner of the hall had flooded the dance floor, and started to dance in a way Marianne
had never seen before. "Do you dance?" Henry asked softly, his eyes following the twirling couples

My Life
I've spent my whole life trying to get back to one moment, one image: me, no older than seven,
running to the park on a brisk summer day, with my mom behind me, and the grass as green as can
be. It was the earliest I had ever gotten up, which combined with the gray – instead of the light blue
sky – made me feel like I was in a new realm. The sun was glimmering, with speckles of it coming
shooting right through the neighbor's roof. For the first time, I found the sun tolerable that day. Up
until then, the sun was a mere annoyance, to my young, sensitive eyes. I was much more a fan of the
dark, the spark neon lights on a rainy evening gave off were always my favorite sight. But nothing
could compare to the sun that day, the innocence of it all, for one, I enjoyed the light.
I saw the sun almost every day from then on. I saw it all over, above the forest when I was biking,
gleaming through my window when I woke up, and in my eyes. I still enjoyed the night, but for
some time, I had learned to love the sun too. This affair didn't last long, though. Before long, I found
myself disturbed by its presences.
I've found myself running from one moment, that moment being when the sun went out. My parents
were nearing the completion of their divorce. It was a Friday, my favorite day of the week. My mom
was being her typical, strict, stressed out self, and my dad was too busy feeling sorry for himself. I
didn't know what to do, and like some do when given no alternative,

Pre-Industrial Astronomy
While researching "pre–industrial astronomical accomplishments," it seemed that a good majority of
the accomplishments being highlighted were those of the Mayan and Aztec civilizations. Feeling
that these topics may be over–researched, I decided to turn my attention towards the
accomplishments of those in a different area of the world. After switching my focus to the pre–
industrial astronomical feats of ancient Greek scientists, I have found that in many cases, these
scientists contributed more than one idea, finding, or apparatus to the field of astronomy. For this
research, I decided to hone in on the contributions made by Greek scientist Hipparchus. Throughout
his magnificent life, and all before the implementation of modern technology, ... Show more content

ages. In this way, the astrolabe can be compared to a modern–day computer, in which more and
more desirable features are added over time. While a modern audience would show excitement over
a computer that boasts a touch screen monitor or a detachable keyboard, improved astrolabes
boasted supplemental disks that could be used for trigonometric calculations, peepholes through the
body of the device that would allow the viewer to create a map of the sky, indicators that would
point to important stars, and a ruler that would render the user able to measure celestial bodies

Pictor's Observation Report
My favourite constellation is Pictor, also known as "The Painter" or "The Painter's Easel." I chose
this constellation because art is something that interests me and since Pictor has something to do
with art, as it could be symbolic inspiration to painters all over the magical and muggle world. It
helps me by inspiring me that one day i could be a painter as long as i put in the effort, like the stars
in the constellation put in the effort to burn brightly every day. Pictor is a minor, faint constellation
located in the Southern Celestial Hemisphere. Pictor is located between Canopus and the Large
Magellanic Cloud. It's name is a shortened version – or abbreviation if you want to be posh – for the
old name Equuleus Pictoris. Pictor is latin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He carried an easel and his paint supplies were in a bag on his shoulder. The Italian was a poor man,
having been kicked out by his grandfather, Romulus, in favour of his two brother who were very
artistic. Lovino looked at a man who walked down the same path, two men beside him.
Coincidentally, they went to the same inn later that night to stay until the storm passed. "Hola." The
man who Lovino had noted firstly had spoken, seeing the Italian. "You're a painter, si?" Lovino had
nodded in response. "Si, i am." The words had rolled from the Italian's mouth without warning as he
looked at the handsome Spaniard. "I... I could paint you if you want?" Although he would ruin it,
like he did everything. Even his name meant 'i ruin' so it was just who he was. The Spanish man had
grinned and nodded, "My name is Antonio Fernandez Carriedo~" Lovino had nodded and taken out
his painting surprise. Was love at first sight really possible? It seemed so as the Italian found every
single little detail in the Spaniard, painting them onto the canvas. "You know Lovi." A voice had
said from beside him, "I think i fell in love with you." Antonio continued, "Of course i've loved you
since we were children, before you moved away. And i think, now is the time for this." The Spaniard
softly pressed his lips to Lovino's in a quick kiss. It is said that Lovino's easel became a symbolism
of love and art, two things that should always interconnect and that this symbol was so powerful that
it formed into pure light and became Pictor Alpha, other symbols of art and love joining as other
stars until a picture of that easel was formed. And if you look really closely, you can almost picture
the Italian standing behind it and starting at a Spaniard. For what they had was true love, something
that was now written in the stars and in fate – literally. After all, the easel brought two childhood

The Role Of Jealousy In Ray Bradbury's All Summer In A Day
In the short story, All Summer in a Day, Ray Bradbury presents how jealousy can be controlling and
shows readers what repercussions can arise if one acts on their envy. A little girl named Margot is
living on the planet Venus with a small civilization, and there is no sun. The children mostly came to
Venus at age two, whereas Margot came when she was four. So she can remember the sun. For this,
they are very jealous of her. Margot shares her memories and the kids are upset they won't ever feel
what she felt. Therefore, one thing leads to another and their jealousy controls them. This causes
them to do stuff that one would probably never do if it weren't for the green–eyed monster. Their
actions would soon teach them how can harm others and, inadvertently, themselves. ... Show more

If bullying someone is a side effect of jealousy, then the children are severely envious of Margot.
She can remember the sun and how you feel waking up on a bright sunny day. In her dreams she can
almost feel the warmth on her skin, a burn caused by the bright rays shining down upon Earth. They
are probably lovely kids, but they are so consumed by their envy that they turn into bullies. It's one
thing to call her a liar when she talks about the sun. But they also push her when she doesn't speak.
The worst of all is when the kids shove her into a closet right before the sun comes out, and she
doesn't get a chance to see it. She would have to wait another seven years to see it again. Their
mockery and quarrels turn into a life altering mistake. None of these events would have occurred if
it weren't for their extreme

The Lion In Winter
The royal family in the film The Lion in Winter have many devious qualities and motives. For
instance, take into account the movies of the king of England. Henry is the husband of Queen
Eleanor of Aquitaine and the father of Richard, Geoffrey, and John. In his fifties, Henry is
approaching the years when most men of that age perished. However, he still has remarkable wit
and vigor, as well as physical dexterity. He instills self–love when stating: "Oh God, but I do love
being king"! His clear choice for his successor is his heir, John, but his more important desire is to
keep his kingdom prosperous, long after his death. His motives are to control his family and
kingdom to reign superior. He also has an affair with Alais Capet, as his mistress.

About Aspen. Aspen Laeger, my one and only, my... secret love. Ever since he'd chosen to become
an outsider, everything's been harder than usual. Before, we were just 13, doing things after school
together, being partners in almost everything. But in other cases, Amera and I were almost always
paired by the teachers. Probably because we were the most productive, from what I'm guessing,
being that it's been 4 years since that. And then there was that rebellion. Where everyone was.
Where Natalie's brother and Lily's sister were taken. Dead, really. 'Taken' was the term we had to
use though. Then there was the rule my father and the other kings agreed on. You were a guard, or
you worked. If neither, an outsider. Aspen was pretty rich. So he chose not to work. Chose not to do
anything. Chose to be an outsider. Made our lives harder. It was hard for me to do things with him,
without being caught. I mean, no one could mistake the almost black hair and the golden eyes. The
almost quirky sense of style. Aspen was everything another guy wasn't. Was almost everything
another guy was? And then he stopped seeing me about a couple months after being an outsider. I

Reflective Essay On Astronomy
The last time I remember learning about astronomy formally was as far back as elementary school,
where we learned about the basics of our solar system's planets and other ideas about space
commonly known by most people. Having never studied astronomy at a higher level, going into this
class felt similar to traveling to a foreign country, or sailing in foreign waters, so to speak. Many of
the concepts and facts have been things I have had little to no prior knowledge of. But regardless of
any of that, I cannot express the importance of this area of study in my life. In the past I have read
comments online, as well as heard things in real life, about how some subjects have no value in
being studied unless one is majoring in them. While my major is not astronomy, much less even
science, I still could not disagree more with this sort of thought. I can relate to some of the concepts
of astronomy on a very deep and personal level, to the point where my psychological state is
affected, and I will explain these thoughts in detail later. While these areas of great interest have not
yet been covered in the course, I cannot say that I have not found all of the current topics
fascinating. As one who has a deep interest in mathematics, I found a few of the concepts rather
thought provoking, and I will again this later. I will lastly discuss what I thought of the material as a
whole, what I got most out of it, and what my experiences were during and after learning it. Out of

Canis Major Research Paper
Canis Major is my favorite constellation, I don't have a particular reason for this constellation to be
my favorite, I just really like it. Canis Major, or The Greater Dog, is fairly easy to pick out in the
night sky during the winter. It is made up of eight main stars, the brightest one being Sirius. Sirius
also happens to be the closest star to Earth, in Canis Major.
Canis Major is said to be the dog Laelaps, who was so fast that nothing it chased could outrun it.
Laelaps had a whole bunch of owners, but eventually ended up with a man named Cephalus.
Together they traveled to Thebes, where a fox was terrorizing towns. This fox was very light footed,
and was destined to never be caught. This didn't stop Laelaps from trying. So the dog, who

He stares at the beautiful night sky as his father and Nonno takes him to the quiet sea. They took a
small wooden boat which can fit three people in. The wooden boat swishes through the middle of
the calm dark water as Bambino's father rows gently. He parked the wooden boat properly.
The three watched the sky as the beautiful and bright moon rises up high onto the horizon.
Bambino's father pulls up a tall ladder from the inside of the bottom of the boat and lets it reach near
closely to the moon. He and Nonno tells Bambino to climb up. Bambino hesitantly wraps himself
with the metal anchor tied with a rope and slowly went up. As he was on the edge of the ladder, he
started to lose his balance and has the urge to panic.
He levitated towards the moon with his eyes squinting closed. With one eye open, he tries to
carefully land on the moon while looking at his two feet. After Bambino had landed, he slowly lifted
his face up and there he saw were millions of shining little stars. His jaw dropped and his eyes
sparkle with joy and happiness the first time he saw them. While his father and Nonno climb up, a
light came swiftly towards the moon and made a "clink clink" sound.
It sounded like glass dropped. Bambino walks cautiously to it and it was a twinkling golden star. He
crouches down to his knees to the twinkling golden star and looks at it when it was still shining. It
made a sharp "shing" sound when he gently taps it with his finger. When Bambino tries to grab the

Complexity In Monsieur Meursault In The Stranger By Albert...
The solitude of man with the innate endeavoring nature to incessantly find passion, be fruitful, and
embrace the tangibles causes us to lose focus of the scornful end. The condemnation we find
ourselves in subsequent to the impotent attempts to satiate our inexplicable questions, is the
puncture to our ideal notion . The disenchantment the truth of our obscure being offered is
masqueraded with the absurdity through which we seamlessly wander through this life. The
irrefutable desire to numb the conscious is the bittersweet burden which we carry to suppress the
abyss of disparity which we are floating amidst. Monsieur Meursault in Albert Camus' The Stranger
is the blaring anomaly. Fortifying himself through his indifferent nature and blunt honesty,
Meursault is ostracized. Deemed with a psychosis he finds comfort in the unruly inescapable solace
of life, death, which morphs into his gradual declination. The sun tracing his unusual circumstances,
catalyzing his imminent reactions provides itself as the only paradigm to symbolize Meursault. The
intricacies which unfold are reiterated by the Sun which juxtapose the indigenous contingency to
find meaning. Meursault's paradoxical compel and abhorrence to the sun highlights the idea that the
what we choose to learn may not be abiding in beauty. Our choice in this duality sets forth the
invitation to introspection offering its only absolute form through our own willingness. Meursault
understanding himself is bonded to the sun

All Summer in a Day
Harassment, bullying, isolation and depression are things a nine year old should not be
experiencing, but for a little girl living who's living on Venus, this is exactly what is happening. The
short story "All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury", takes place on the planet Venus where
everyday is like the next, full of rain. To the residents of Venus, this is normal, unless you just
moved here five years ago. This is the case for Margot who has to deal with the torture of
remembering life on Earth. Every seven years, the sun shines on Venus. For just two hour, the rain
stops pouring and the sky turns blue. Margot has been waiting for this day ever since she moved to
Venus. Unfortunately, the other students lock her in the closet and she misses the opportunity to see
the sun that she loves and misses so much. A theme throughout the story is that the children of
Venus are jealous of Margot because she is different, this is shown when the author describes
Margot, when Margot is in the shower, and when the children lock her in the closet.
One of the reasons that the children of Venus are jealous of Margot is because of her different
experiences. The author writes "the biggest crime of all was that she has come here only five years
ago from Earth, and she remembered the sun and the away the sun was and the sky" (Bradbury
1974). He uses this quote to show the reader the relationship between Margot and her classmates. It

Importance Of The Lower Class In A Connecticut Yankee In...
In A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, written by Mark Twain, there exists a clear
incongruence between nobility and the lower class. While knights and landlords live lavishly
without a concern for acquiring basic necessities, peasants often struggle to feed themselves and
their families. With so few individuals holding such a large portion of the wealth, a vast gap
between the rich and the poor plagues society. For the most part, King Arthur remains completely
oblivious to these issues that the lower class faces every day. He ineffectively governs, failing to
consider the needs of all people. King Arthur's interactions with the lower class and his inability to
understand peasants' lifestyles demonstrate the flaws of the monarchy system. Hank, on one hand,
wants to infiltrate the lower class so that he can observe first–hand the effects of his innovations on
the lifestyle of the common man. In contrast, the king goes along simply for the purpose of
enjoyment. Hank narrates, "When I told the king I was going out disguised as a petty freeman to
scour the country and familiarize myself with the humbler life of the people, he was all afire with
the novelty of the thing in a minute, and was bound to take a chance in the adventure himself"
(Twain 150). King Arthur does not seem to understand the difficult lifestyle of the lower class. Any
individual who accurately perceives the hardships and burdens of the life of a peasant would not
jump at the opportunity to

All of Summer in a Day is a tale from the far off future, when humanity has colonized Venus. Once
every seven years for only about two hours, taking place in a class room of young children, most of
which don't remember the sun or the gentle yellow glow it gives off due to living in underground
bunkers their whole lives. One child, Margo, recently moved to Venus from Earth, remembers the
Sun and tries to explain it to her fellow class mates who believe she is lying. On the day the Sun is
to come out, the children finally get tired of hearing Margo's 'Lies' and lock her in a closet to punish
her while the Teacher is out. Later the Teacher arrives back in the room and, not realizing Margo is
not with them, takes them outside for the 'Summer'. When the children come back in due to the
heavy rain coming back, they realize what they have done to Margo and let her back out of the

Analysis Of All Summer In A Day By Ray Bradbury
Could you envision a planet that sees no sun? In the story, "All Summer in a Day," Ray Bradbury
draws us in, as readers, with a story that takes place on the planet Venus. The environment of Venus
is as described in this quote, "It had been raining for seven years; thousands upon thousands of days
compounded and filled from one end to the other with rain, with the gush and gush of water...fall of
showers and the concussion of storms so heavy they were tidal waves come over the islands..."
(Bradbury, 1954) The only one that has experienced and remembers the sun is a young girl, Margot.
Margot lived on Earth until she was four years old, unlike the others who have been living
underground in Venus for their entire lives. Because of this, Margot is constantly facing problems
regarding her classmates' jealousy of her past opportunities. Without the sun, she has become, as
Bradbury writes, "...a very frail girl who looked as if she had been lost in the rain for years and the
rain had washed out the blue from her eyes and the red from her mouth and the yellow from her
hair. She was an old photograph dusted from an album, whitened away, and if she spoke at all her
voice would be a ghost."(1954, Bradbury) In this short story by Bradbury, the theme is that jealousy
and ignorance can blind us from seeing things how they really are. This is shown time after time
when Margot is harassed, depressed, and isolated because of her classmates' jealousy.
To begin, a way that Bradbury shows us that jealousy and ignorance can shield a person from the
truth is through the main character, Margot, who is constantly being harassed by her classmates. The
only reason Margot's classmates harass her is because she remembers the sun. This makes her
different from all the others, who have lived here on Venus since birth. In this way, they are
uneducated or ignorant because they have never experienced the sun. Because she is different, the
classmates take every chance they have to harass her in any way they can. Right before the sun
came out, one of the rare events that Margot was greatly anticipating, the classmates "...surged about
her, caught her up and bore her, protesting, and then pleading, and then crying, back into a tunnel, a

The Tragedy of King Richard the Second: The Garden of the...
Shakespeare's plays are not always easy to define how a particular scene contributes to the overall
picture of the play. Looking only at the surface of the gardening scene in act 3, scene 4, the reader
merely acquires that the gardeners are speaking about binding the apricots and plucking the weeds
at the Duke of York's palace. However, the gardening essentially represents a metaphor for the rule
and management of the kingdom under King Richard II. It becomes important to examine a scene
such as this one to gain insight on what Shakespeare wants to convey. In this case, Shakespeare
desires to reveal the perspective of the common man and the type of rule King Richard II has over
the people of England. The gardeners, who act as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
30–31). In this command, Shakespeare is referring to King Richard's nobles as the "unruly
children". These nobles are bringing King Richard down by providing advice to him that damages
his rule and England's people. Therefore, the nobles need to be tied up to stop bringing Richard's
potential reign down.
The speech continues in scene 4, act 3 by the gardener's suggestions in concerns to the rule of
England. The next metaphor in the gardener's speech refers to trimming the sprays so that all is
equal:
Go thou, and like an executioner,
Cut off the heads of too fast growing sprays,
That look too lofty in our commonwealth:
All must be even in our government. (3.4.34–37)
In this, the gardener is commanding that the second man trim the tops of the high plants. In this way,
the higher stems will become equal with the others and all plants will be at a shared height. The
metaphorical analysis to this speech is that the gardener wants an execution or death of the higher
nobles, the Earl of Wiltshire, Bushy, and Greene. By this, the gardener believes that England will
become equal and fair. Through both of these metaphorical images through the garden, blame is
being forced upon Richards's nobles and their influence over him.
Similarity, the gardener's speech ends with the appointed blame on the nobles, "You thus employ'd, I
will go root away/The noisome weeds, which without profit suck/The soil's fertility from
wholesome flowers" (3.4. 38–40). Here,

In the Heart of the Sea
In the Heart of the Sea The novel "In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex," by
Nathaniel Philbrick, successfully tells the story of the whale ship Essex that was attacked by a
sperm whale 1,500 nautical miles west of the Galapagos, 40 miles south of the equator. Many
people know this as the story of "Moby Dick", which was based off this event. The novel highlights
three themes: man versus nature, survival, and suffering. The novel starts out in the town of
Nantucket, an island off the eastern coast of New England. Nantucket, at this time, is known as one
of the most successful whaling ports. Docked on the port was the famous Essex, a 20 year whaling
boat. The Essex is the pride of Nantucket. It is 87 feet long, ... Show more content on

In chapter 5, on November 20, the crew spots whales 40 miles south of the equator. Chase and his
crew go after a whale, which destroys their boat with its tail. When they bring their boat back to the
Essex, they spot a huge sperm whale near the bow of the ship calmly and quietly floating along the
surface of the water. The whale began to move quickly towards the ship. The men try to steer Essex
away from the whale, but are unsuccessful. The whale rams the ship with its head, and the men are
amazed. After the whale revives itself, it struck the ship again, causing the Essex to sink bow–first.
The men board their whaleboats after a night of preparation of leaving the Essex. They stripped the
sails of the ship and attached them to their boats. The waves splashed over the boat, causing the
work to be more difficult. The next morning, the boats take off. Chase and Pollard talk of where to

King Galahor Get His Name Analysis
The year was 1275 of the Third Age when the dark sorcerer Mondain and his students slew Emperor
Vaserd Atridius and his entire line of heirs; leaving the northern empire of Budalia in shambles.
Seven warriors from each of the seven provinces of the old empire banded together and destroyed
Mondain and his vile legion. The seven warriors then divided his magic rod into seven parts, to be
distributed among them evenly so that no one person may ever claim them and cause disparity to the
world ever again. The descendents of these seven would be known as the kings of what were once
the provinces of Budalia, now separate nations who unite under a sacred pact forged by their
forefathers. And so it is written that the Pact of the Seven shall unite ... Show more content on

Clerics and healers from all over Sosaria and the neighboring isles have come to see him, but magic
can only do so much for what ails him. His eldest heir, whom he groomed from birth to take his
place, obviously lays dead. His second eldest who marched to fight alongside his countrymen in
Nostora, Lanner, has recently been presumed missing when his encampment was raided in the night
over two months ago. This leaves poor, mild–mannered Travan, the youngest of Trytas's sons. The
boy has shown little to no interest in something his older brothers so desperately competed over,
preferring to spend his days reading about magic and dead gods, hardly the typical fair for a
Belawain.
Despite this, my liege would rather that his own line takes the throne in the event of his death than
his younger brother Jorvan. Though I have met the man a number of times myself, he does not strike
me as being of the same ilk as his brother. Trytas is atypical for a king, preferring to visit with his
subjects when he can and strengthening the resolve of his people. Jorvan, on the other hand, is a
foppish git who runs a backwoods town and thinks himself to be the proper heir to an entire bloody
kingdom. In truth, these traits would make for an excellent successor to any king, but not for the

Remaining Elements Of IIED Against Nicole Kidman ( Nicole )
Sally Thompson (Sally) cannot successfully state a cause of action for IIED against Nicole Kidman
(Nicole). Under Illinois law, in order to claim IIED, it must be proven that (1) the conduct involved
must be truly extreme and outrageous, (2) the actor must either intend that his conduct will inflict
severe emotional distress, or know that there is at least a high probability that his conduct will cause
severe emotional distress, and (3) the conduct must in fact cause severe emotional distress.
[McGrath at 806].
To prove extreme and outrageous conduct, there are considerations that the conduct must fulfill.
[CITE] First, the power or authority the actor has and whether or the actor abused that power.
{cite]Second, whether the actor had an illegitimate objective behind their conduct. Third, the actor
knows the other person is peculiarly susceptible to emotional distress. [McGrath at 807]. Lastly,
mere words are not enough for emotional distress; words must be so powerful that a reasonable
person could not be expected to withstand them. [Kolegas at 203].
Remaining Elements of IIED–need to expand In addition to extreme and outrageous conduct, in
order to claim IIED it must also be proven that the actor either intended that his conduct will inflict
severe emotional distress, or know that there is at least a high probability that his conduct will cause
severe emotional distress; and that the conduct must in fact cause severe emotional distress. [CITE?]

All Summer Is A Day By Ray Bradbury
Many centuries after the first spaceship landed on the moon, a group of brave rocket men and
women did the unbelievable. The short story "All summer is a day", by Ray Bradbury, takes place in
the underground city of the planet Venus where tunnels roamed instead of streets. The land above
them was submerged with endless pouring rain and deadly jungles. The sight of the sun was a rare
miracle that only happened once every seven years. The children spent all their life in the enclosed
underground tunnels, well all except for one. Margot was the only child who came to Venus when
she was four, and the biggest difference was that she still remembered the times when the glowing
sun gave warmth and hope.
Thesis Statement (1–3 sentences) – Her past experiences and opportunities caused the children of
Venus to be jealous of her. As a result, the children harassed Margot in disbelief. The gloomy,
enclosed environment affects everyone greatly. The message of the story shows how the
environment and the people around you can affect you because of their own lack of experiences.
The author portrays this when the children harass the main character, he also uses craft moves to
show isolation of the main character, and how depressed she is as a result. To begin, the author
shows that the harassment Margot goes through is due to the children' lack of knowledge about the
sun since they have spent their whole life on Venus. Throughout the day, Margot brings back
memories of the sun.

King Porter Cleming Essay
There once was a king named King Porter Clemings who ruled over the kingdom of Clemington. In
the kingdom, there is a little town called Littenburg, which was known for farming and delivering
the finest wheat to the kingdom. The king of Clemington, King Porter Clemings, once visited this
town to inspect a rather interesting incident. Rumors say that in this town of Littenburg lives a
beautiful woman named Fiona Wallace. As expected, being the "gentleman" he is despite having a
wife and a daughter of five years, King Porter travels to Littenburg, using inspection of crops as an
excuse, and was not disappointed as he starts an affair. And thus, another princess was born. Two
weeks after the baby princess was born, King Porter decides to visit Fiona and discuss the name of
their little child. He sneaks out in the middle of the night and awakes his coachman. "Get up," said
he said. "I have an important meeting with someone in Littenburg. Do not ask who or why, and you
shall comply." "Yes, your Majesty," says the coachman. The two quietly walk toward the king's
horse carriage and starts heading eastward to Littenburg. Five hours have passed and the sun has
already begun to rise. "Stay here coachman and stay out of sight. I do not want anyone knowing the

Whale Rider Reflection Paper
The movie is based on patriarchal mindset of choosing a male heir. The story of movie Whale Rider
points to the sociological and theological values shared by the Whangara people in New Zealand.
Historically, New Zealand has been ruled by the British Empire. Other than Christianity, one of the
biggest religions practiced by the people is Hinduism. Surprisingly, the movie does not depict either
of the religious values, nor shows any characters associating themselves with either of the faiths or
faith traditions. Though the movie is entitled as Whale Rider, the movie does not show craving of
the female protagonist to ride a whale, or to learn ride any other animal. She is seeing riding bike
with her grandfather but that does not provide any hint to what riding on a bike meant for her
grandfather or for her personally. The movie seems to present a lot of ideas and images without
offering any background to the reason of their existence. The paper will present sociological and
theological reflection of values as seen in the movie.
Whale Rider carries an ethnic essence in its writing style depicted in dialogues of the characters as
well as their style of living. It is a well written script for a movie that presents historical values
without providing much depth of knowledge as to why the grandfather says to his students about
their skill practice being watched by their fathers and their ancestors. Pointing to the style of living
presented in the movie, one of the interesting things that I noticed in the movie was the placement of
shoes in Koro's house. In one of the first scenes of the movie, Koro is seen wearing boots that are
placed outside the threshold of his house. It is very likely that the image of shoes is symbolic and
depicts the dust of one's journey and struggle to remain out of one's daily business, in their case,
their lives. This can be seen how Koro argues with his son about taking his daughter away from his
house, insisting on sending the little girl away and not wanting to keep her with him and his wife.
When arguing with his son, Koro says "You've got the privileges but, don't forget you've also got the
obligations."
Another blank I saw in the movie was in the scene when Koro hugs his son,

I chose Proportional Scales in the Solar System, Examining Parallax, Star brightness, and Kepler's

reaction was to choose topics that were the easiest to write about. But I thought about it and I chose
the topics that I best understood. I enjoyed these activities the most and if I had to choose my

The biggest thing that stands out to me when I read that question is the Parallax assignment. When
we started that assignment I was so confused, and lost I just didn't understand it. But when we were
done with it I took the most out of that assignment than any other one. My first example is the
answer to the question we answered at the beginning, and I had no idea what to put so I answered
with one word, again hoping out of pure luck I would be right. If you were to ask me "what is
parallax?" I would probably stare blankly with no idea what it was, and at the end of the assignment
I could tell you almost anything about it. My second example is how well my parallax summary
turned out, and even my graph. I completely understand how when the distance to an object
increases the observed parallax decreases. I think the moment I understood everything was when I
held up my thumb straight out in front of me, closed one eye and then the next. I know, it sounds
dumb but that intrigued me into the assignment, when a little part of me finally understood it. My
notebook helped me have everything right in front of me opposed to searching for multiple papers.
Being a visual learner scared me going into high school until I had the opportunity to see everything
at once. In all honesty the one thing that would improve my notebook would be motivation to
myself. If I don't want to answer those questions we were assigned to do, or even write a summary

In the Heart of the Sea
In the Heart of the Sea In 1819, The whale ship, Essex, set its sails and departed from Nantucket,
Massachusetts on a voyage to the Pacific Ocean to hunt and kill sperm whales and retrieve the
abundance of oil the whales possess, which became a crucial component in 19th century industry
[2]. The island of Nantucket had been one of the most important oil businesses for quite some time.
For the crew of the whale ships, harvesting whales was a tough assignment; when a whale was
spotted, the crew would approach it, harpoon it, and then try to kill it. Once a whale was killed, its
blubber was peeled from the corpse and then boiled for the high quality oil. On this particular

The most significant decision made came from Captain Pollard, who wanted to choose what would
have been the better option, but listened to the other officers and decided to sail a different route to
South America, rather than go west, which would have been a shorter distance to the safety of shore.
The men's speculations about the unknown contributed to their fear to sail for other islands in that
area. Another costly decision. Soon thereafter the negative consequences began to reek havoc on the
crew. Hunger, thirst, weather and even another attack from a whale added unneeded side effects.
The saltwater burned their open wounds, their skins were severely sun burnt, not to mention toll that
the loneliness played on the crew's ability to mentally withhold the circumstances. The difficult
decisions they made ultimately led to situations and experiences that the crew would hope to forget.
On the other hand, they were able to make some smart choices. They made sails for their smaller
boats from the damaged Essex, and raised the sides of the boats to prevent waves from crashing
aboard. Soon after all the abuse their bodies took, they reached the Henderson Islands. The days
spent there provided the shipmates with slightly sufficient quantities of water, and a good supply of
food. Although the Henderson Islands were not enough, the crew was still reassured and somewhat
recuperated for what lied ahead. Two died shortly after departure from the islands and were

Summary Of All Summer In A Day
Try conceptualizing a world with perpetual rain. This is the world that Bradbury creates in his short
story, "All Summer In a Day. A group of scientists and their children live on Venus, a planet that
only sees the sun for an hour every seven years. The kids that immigrated here are only 9 years old.
They do not remember the sun, as they have only seen the sun once, 7 years ago. But, there is a girl
named Margot. Unlike the other kids, she was born on earth and moved to Venus 5 years ago. She
has distinct memories of the sun. This causes her to stand out from the other kids. The loss of the
sun causes her to grieve. The children living on Venus treat Margot mercilessly in jealousy due to
her prior knowledge and experiences. This causes Margot to be a victim of depression, harassment,
and denial.
There are many conditions that affect Margot, One of them is depression. Unlike the other kids,
Margot moved to Venus 5 years ago. She remembers the sun. Studies have shown that people who
live in places where the sun doesn't shine for the better part of time can be depressed from Vitamin
D or lack of the sun. This is what is happening to Margot. She used to be surrounded by the sun all
the time after she moved, the amount of Vitamin D in her body became flat. This is illustrated in the
excerpt, " 'Oh, it's much better than the sun lamps, isn't it?'"(Bradbury 1954) . This excerpt is
exposing how they prevent depression in the kids. They use special lamps that imitate the sun. They

The Constellation: The Hunter From Greek Mythology
LD
Overview
The Constellation I will be talking about today is Orion, Commonly known as The Hunter. Orion's
is a hunter from Greek Mythology and is one of the most recognizable constellations. Orion has
some of the brightest stars(some examples are Betelgeuse and Rigel) and is one of the prettiest
winter constellations in my opinion.
Finding Orion
Orion is clearly visible in the sky from November to February(Thus calling it a winter constellation)
and can usually be found in a number of places. Orion is in the southwest sky for the people in the
Northern hemisphere and northwestern sky if you're in the Southern Hemisphere. It is easiest to see
between latitudes 85 and –75 degrees. It's declination is five degrees and it right ascension is five
hours.

Main Methods Of Measuring Astronomical Distances
Main methods of measuring astronomical distances:
Scientist used different type to find the astronomical distances. Cosmic distance ladder is used to
find the astronomical distances, which includes five different methods to find the astronomical
distances.
Radar ranging:
Radar ranging is used to find the distance of the planets which are near. This method works by
striking a beam of radio waves towards the object, the radio waves after striking the object will
come back as echo. So, the time taken by the radio waves to come back in the form of echo can be
used to find the distance of the object.
Parallax:
Parallax is used to find the distances of the stars which are near. This method works by measuring
the distance of object from two different positions. First you measure the distance of the star from a
specific position and then after six months when the earth is on the opposite direction of the sun we
measure the distance of the star again. At that position, the star appears to move slightly than last.
The parallax angle the star makes can be used to find the distance of the star through the help of
trigonometry.
Main sequence fitting:
Main sequence fitting method is used to find the distance of the clusters of the stars. Clusters is
group of stars which are next to each other. This process works by finding the apparent magnitude
of the cluster from the earth. Then, we find the distance of the exact distance through the help of
parallax methods. This distance of the

What Does Yin Yang Mean?
Is everyone familiar with the "Yin Yang" symbol? I'm pretty sure that we've all seen it one way or
another. The principle of Yin and Yang which are opposites living in harmony is linked with Ancient
Chinese Philosophy. Although Yin and Yang come from Ancient China, the classic symbol was
introduced as a shield pattern used by the Ancient Romans, 700 years before its first use in China. A
connection between the two is yet to be found. Disregarding who created it, the Yin Yang was a
bright idea, but what is the brightest object in the entire universe?
To figure this out, we will need to measure in absolute magnitude. Absolute magnitude is when the

About 100 times more radiant, than the total amount of light produced by the entire Milky Way! If
you put 3C273, 33 light years away from you, it would shine as brightly as our sun, a mere 8 light

Quasars are in the centres of galaxies. Such galactic centres are called active galactic nuclei. The
bolt of their energy, spewing forth in the form of a powerful radiation jet, the length of which, puts
even our entire solar system to shame! Specifically, if a large portion of this ejected energy heads

Why Do You Think The Other Children Mistreat Margot
Read the passage "All Summer in a Day" and answer the following questions. Each question carries
two marks.
1. Why do you think Margot acts the way she does–why doesn't she play with her classmates, for
example? Why does she react so strongly to the shower? Unlike the rest of the children in the
classroom of Venus, Margot only came to Venus five years ago. She is totally different from other
children not only in her behavior, but also in looks too. It is because of this difference that she is
able to be targeted so easily by the other students. She being the only one of the children to have

environmental settings of Venus, and this adjusting problem had an emotional feedback in her mind,

Summary Of All Summer In A Day
"All Summer In A Day" by Ray Bradbury is a short story about a girl named Margot and her
experiences on the planet Venus. Margot moved to Venus from Earth when she was 4 years old, old
enough to remember the sun. On Venus, the sun only comes out every 7 years for a couple hours,
other than this, it's always raining. The other children on this planet bullied Margot, they were mean
to her because she could remember the sun, and they didn't. One lesson the story suggests is that
when you don't think about your actions, it can lead to regret and guilt.
Throughout the story, the children were jealous of Margot and bullied her. Bradbury says, "They
surged about her, caught her up and bore her, protesting, and then pleading, and then crying, back
into a tunnel, a room, a closet, where they slammed and locked the door. They stood looking at the
door and saw it tremble from her beating and throwing herself against it. They heard her muffled
cries. Then, smiling, they turned and went out and back down the tunnel, just as the teacher arrived."
This paragraph illustrates how mean the children were to Margot and how they acted so quickly
without really thinking about what they were doing. When the children did this they acted out of
jealousy and hurt Margot, without even knowing it. This is a reason why you should always think
before you say or do something; sometimes we can get wrapped up in our own jealousy and hurt
someone.
After the the children hurt Margot they felt terrible and guilty. In the story it states "They stood as if
someone had driven them like so many stakes, into the floor. They looked at each other and then
looked away...They could not meet each other's glances. Their faces were solemn and pale." These
couple short sentences tell us how the children looked after they remembered Margot, by knowing
this, we know how they felt. Before, all of the children teamed up and shoved her in a closet, then
the sun came out and they had a great time playing outside together. After 2 hours the sun was gone
again and the children finally remember about Margot, when this happened each of them felt
tremendously guilty. This a a reason why you should always be kind to others, because no matter
what you will hurt them and

Radiance Play Analysis

  • 1. Radiance Play Analysis Radiance Radiance is a generally thought out play that varies in its values and morals. The main focuses are visible to some but hidden to others. It mainly focuses on family, and such revolving so. The play's focus is that three aboriginal sisters have gone their separate ways in life, but they reunite at their mother's funeral. Before this all their mother failed to care for two of the sisters, the oldest two, this led on resulting in them acquiring different thoughts that can be considered depressing or even containing anger towards their mother. Cressy, who is the oldest sister holds secrets and changing feelings towards the family, but remains quiet and calm. Mae, the middle child also holds secrets against everyone while Cressy ... Cressy didn't come to the funeral, she came to Nona. The long time spent away from Nona while being a successful opera singer, with the traveliing has led her into a sort of calm sad state. She is a Nona respects her very much, but with this time away from another things could slowly lead apart, they could be closer. With Cressy, she doesn't take a liking to romance, she holds a strong dislike towards it, but this is reasonable seeing she was raped at the age of only twelve. She wants to protect Nona from romance, she could be scared that Nona could go through the same fate she went through. The fact that hearing Nona is pregnant shocked her a lot, and as Nona doesn't know who the father is, it starts to bring back horrid memories. So Cressy has had it pretty rough, but there's more. Cressy has had a huge resentment towards her mother since she was given up. Cressy thinks that she was just given away with no second thought, she thought that her mother didn't even want them or want to see them again. It completely ruined the relationship between the two from Cressy's' ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Creative Writing: Thoan Etirelle Thoan Etirelle The kingdoms had been warring for as long as anyone could remember, yet now, faced with twenty years of peace, the current reigning kings had decided there was no more need to fight. To ensure there would be no more lives lost between the kingdom, a marriage treaty had been formed, and passed through the required king's advisors and councils, quicker than the blink of an eye. They had all wanted the peace as much as the monarchs did. And how willing the monarchs were to marry off their children to make a statement. And at the very front, at a large raised table, sat the now connected royal families, two seats in the middle reserved for Mr. and Mrs. Webber. The Prince and Princess. Marianne met Henry in the middle of the hall, where he took her hand again, and led her up to her seat. He took a moment to pull out her chair, and his hand lingered on her shoulder for half of a second. He slid into his seat beside her as his father stood, beginning to make a toast about unity and chivalry, and the power the two kingdoms would have together... Marianne tried her best to pay attention. Truly she did. But it had been a long day, and even longer weeks preparing for this day. Sea journeys and carriage rides and scalding hot baths... What sounded best right now was a warm bed. "Hey." Marianne's head jolted up as the hall burst into applause, and a band started into a rousing chorus. Henry was leaning in close, looking at her expectantly. She must have fallen asleep. People from every corner of the hall had flooded the dance floor, and started to dance in a way Marianne had never seen before. "Do you dance?" • 3. My Life I've spent my whole life trying to get back to one moment, one image: me, no older than seven, running to the park on a brisk summer day, with my mom behind me, and the grass as green as can be. It was the earliest I had ever gotten up, which combined with the gray – instead of the light blue sky – made me feel like I was in a new realm. The sun was glimmering, with speckles of it coming shooting right through the neighbor's roof. For the first time, I found the sun tolerable that day. Up until then, the sun was a mere annoyance, to my young, sensitive eyes. I was much more a fan of the dark, the spark neon lights on a rainy evening gave off were always my favorite sight. But nothing could compare to the sun that day, the innocence of it all, for one, I enjoyed the light. I saw the sun almost every day from then on. I saw it all over, above the forest when I was biking, gleaming through my window when I woke up, and in my eyes. I still enjoyed the night, but for some time, I had learned to love the sun too. This affair didn't last long, though. Before long, I found myself disturbed by its presences. I've found myself running from one moment, that moment being when the sun went out. My parents were nearing the completion of their divorce. It was a Friday, my favorite day of the week. My mom was being her typical, strict, stressed out self, and my dad was too busy feeling sorry for himself. I didn't know what to do, and like some do when given no alternative, ... Pre-Industrial Astronomy While researching "pre–industrial astronomical accomplishments," it seemed that a good majority of the accomplishments being highlighted were those of the Mayan and Aztec civilizations. Feeling that these topics may be over–researched, I decided to turn my attention towards the accomplishments of those in a different area of the world. After switching my focus to the pre– industrial astronomical feats of ancient Greek scientists, I have found that in many cases, these scientists contributed more than one idea, finding, or apparatus to the field of astronomy. For this research, I decided to hone in on the contributions made by Greek scientist Hipparchus. Throughout his magnificent life, and all before the implementation of modern technology, ... • 5. Pictor's Observation Report My favourite constellation is Pictor, also known as "The Painter" or "The Painter's Easel." I chose this constellation because art is something that interests me and since Pictor has something to do with art, as it could be symbolic inspiration to painters all over the magical and muggle world. It helps me by inspiring me that one day i could be a painter as long as i put in the effort, like the stars in the constellation put in the effort to burn brightly every day. Pictor is a minor, faint constellation located in the Southern Celestial Hemisphere. Pictor is located between Canopus and the Large Magellanic Cloud. He carried an easel and his paint supplies were in a bag on his shoulder. The Italian was a poor man, having been kicked out by his grandfather, Romulus, in favour of his two brother who were very artistic. Lovino looked at a man who walked down the same path, two men beside him. Coincidentally, they went to the same inn later that night to stay until the storm passed. "Hola." The man who Lovino had noted firstly had spoken, seeing the Italian. "You're a painter, si?" Lovino had nodded in response. "Si, i am." The words had rolled from the Italian's mouth without warning as he looked at the handsome Spaniard. "I... I could paint you if you want?" Although he would ruin it, like he did everything. Even his name meant 'i ruin' so it was just who he was. The Spanish man had grinned and nodded, "My name is Antonio Fernandez Carriedo~" Lovino had nodded and taken out his painting surprise. Was love at first sight really possible? It seemed so as the Italian found every single little detail in the Spaniard, painting them onto the canvas. "You know Lovi." A voice had said from beside him, "I think i fell in love with you." Antonio continued, "Of course i've loved you since we were children, before you moved away. And i think, now is the time for this." The Spaniard softly pressed his lips to Lovino's in a quick kiss. It is said that Lovino's easel became a symbolism of love and art, two things that should always interconnect and that this symbol was so powerful that it formed into pure light and became Pictor Alpha, other symbols of art and love joining as other stars until a picture of that easel was formed. • 6. The Role Of Jealousy In Ray Bradbury's All Summer In A Day In the short story, All Summer in a Day, Ray Bradbury presents how jealousy can be controlling and shows readers what repercussions can arise if one acts on their envy. A little girl named Margot is living on the planet Venus with a small civilization, and there is no sun. The children mostly came to Venus at age two, whereas Margot came when she was four. So she can remember the sun. For this, they are very jealous of her. Margot shares her memories and the kids are upset they won't ever feel what she felt. Therefore, one thing leads to another and their jealousy controls them. This causes them to do stuff that one would probably never do if it weren't for the green–eyed monster. Their actions would soon teach them how can harm others and, inadvertently, themselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are probably lovely kids, but they are so consumed by their envy that they turn into bullies. It's one thing to call her a liar when she talks about the sun. But they also push her when she doesn't speak. The worst of all is when the kids shove her into a closet right before the sun comes out, and she doesn't get a chance to see it. Probably because we were the most productive, from what I'm guessing, being that it's been 4 years since that. And then there was that rebellion. Where everyone was. Where Natalie's brother and Lily's sister were taken. Dead, really. 'Taken' was the term we had to use though. Then there was the rule my father and the other kings agreed on. • 9. Reflective Essay On Astronomy The last time I remember learning about astronomy formally was as far back as elementary school, where we learned about the basics of our solar system's planets and other ideas about space commonly known by most people. Having never studied astronomy at a higher level, going into this class felt similar to traveling to a foreign country, or sailing in foreign waters, so to speak. Many of the concepts and facts have been things I have had little to no prior knowledge of. But regardless of any of that, I cannot express the importance of this area of study in my life. In the past I have read comments online, as well as heard things in real life, about how some subjects have no value in being studied unless one is majoring in them. While my major is not astronomy, much less even science, I still could not disagree more with this sort of thought. I can relate to some of the concepts of astronomy on a very deep and personal level, to the point where my psychological state is affected, and I will explain these thoughts in detail later. While these areas of great interest have not yet been covered in the course, I cannot say that I have not found all of the current topics fascinating. As one who has a deep interest in mathematics, I found a few of the concepts rather thought provoking, and I will again this later. I will lastly discuss what I thought of the material as a whole, what I got most out of it, and what my experiences were during and after learning it. Out of everything ... Canis Major, or The Greater Dog, is fairly easy to pick out in the night sky during the winter. It is made up of eight main stars, the brightest one being Sirius. Sirius also happens to be the closest star to Earth, in Canis Major. Canis Major is said to be the dog Laelaps, who was so fast that nothing it chased could outrun it. The wooden boat swishes through the middle of the calm dark water as Bambino's father rows gently. He parked the wooden boat properly. The three watched the sky as the beautiful and bright moon rises up high onto the horizon. Bambino's father pulls up a tall ladder from the inside of the bottom of the boat and lets it reach near closely to the moon. He and Nonno tells Bambino to climb up. Bambino hesitantly wraps himself with the metal anchor tied with a rope and slowly went up. As he was on the edge of the ladder, he started to lose his balance and has the urge to panic. He levitated towards the moon with his eyes squinting closed. With one eye open, he tries to carefully land on the moon while looking at his two feet. After Bambino had landed, he slowly lifted his face up and there he saw were millions of shining little stars. His jaw dropped and his eyes sparkle with joy and happiness the first time he saw them. • 12. Complexity In Monsieur Meursault In The Stranger By Albert... The solitude of man with the innate endeavoring nature to incessantly find passion, be fruitful, and embrace the tangibles causes us to lose focus of the scornful end. The condemnation we find ourselves in subsequent to the impotent attempts to satiate our inexplicable questions, is the puncture to our ideal notion . The disenchantment the truth of our obscure being offered is masqueraded with the absurdity through which we seamlessly wander through this life. The irrefutable desire to numb the conscious is the bittersweet burden which we carry to suppress the abyss of disparity which we are floating amidst. Monsieur Meursault in Albert Camus' The Stranger is the blaring anomaly. Fortifying himself through his indifferent nature and blunt honesty, Meursault is ostracized. Deemed with a psychosis he finds comfort in the unruly inescapable solace of life, death, which morphs into his gradual declination. The sun tracing his unusual circumstances, catalyzing his imminent reactions provides itself as the only paradigm to symbolize Meursault. The intricacies which unfold are reiterated by the Sun which juxtapose the indigenous contingency to find meaning. Meursault's paradoxical compel and abhorrence to the sun highlights the idea that the what we choose to learn may not be abiding in beauty. Our choice in this duality sets forth the invitation to introspection offering its only absolute form through our own willingness. Meursault understanding himself is bonded to the sun ... • 13. Analysis Of All Summer In A Day Prakriti Bhattarai Period ½ 11–17–17 All Summer in a Day Harassment, bullying, isolation and depression are things a nine year old should not be experiencing, but for a little girl living who's living on Venus, this is exactly what is happening. The short story "All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury", takes place on the planet Venus where everyday is like the next, full of rain. To the residents of Venus, this is normal, unless you just moved here five years ago. This is the case for Margot who has to deal with the torture of remembering life on Earth. Every seven years, the sun shines on Venus. For just two hour, the rain stops pouring and the sky turns blue. Margot has been waiting for this day ever since she moved to Venus. Unfortunately, the other students lock her in the closet and she misses the opportunity to see the sun that she loves and misses so much. A theme throughout the story is that the children of Venus are jealous of Margot because she is different, this is shown when the author describes Margot, when Margot is in the shower, and when the children lock her in the closet. One of the reasons that the children of Venus are jealous of Margot is because of her different experiences. The author writes "the biggest crime of all was that she has come here only five years ago from Earth, and she remembered the sun and the away the sun was and the sky" (Bradbury 1974). He uses this quote to show the reader the relationship between Margot and her classmates. It shows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Importance Of The Lower Class In A Connecticut Yankee In... In A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, written by Mark Twain, there exists a clear incongruence between nobility and the lower class. While knights and landlords live lavishly without a concern for acquiring basic necessities, peasants often struggle to feed themselves and their families. With so few individuals holding such a large portion of the wealth, a vast gap between the rich and the poor plagues society. For the most part, King Arthur remains completely oblivious to these issues that the lower class faces every day. He ineffectively governs, failing to consider the needs of all people. King Arthur's interactions with the lower class and his inability to understand peasants' lifestyles demonstrate the flaws of the monarchy system. Hank, on one hand, wants to infiltrate the lower class so that he can observe first–hand the effects of his innovations on the lifestyle of the common man. In contrast, the king goes along simply for the purpose of enjoyment. Hank narrates, "When I told the king I was going out disguised as a petty freeman to scour the country and familiarize myself with the humbler life of the people, he was all afire with the novelty of the thing in a minute, and was bound to take a chance in the adventure himself" (Twain 150). Once every seven years for only about two hours, taking place in a class room of young children, most of which don't remember the sun or the gentle yellow glow it gives off due to living in underground bunkers their whole lives. One child, Margo, recently moved to Venus from Earth, remembers the Sun and tries to explain it to her fellow class mates who believe she is lying. On the day the Sun is to come out, the children finally get tired of hearing Margo's 'Lies' and lock her in a closet to punish her while the Teacher is out. Later the Teacher arrives back in the room and, not realizing Margo is not with them, takes them outside for the 'Summer'. • 16. Analysis Of All Summer In A Day By Ray Bradbury Could you envision a planet that sees no sun? In the story, "All Summer in a Day," Ray Bradbury draws us in, as readers, with a story that takes place on the planet Venus. The environment of Venus is as described in this quote, "It had been raining for seven years; thousands upon thousands of days compounded and filled from one end to the other with rain, with the gush and gush of water...fall of showers and the concussion of storms so heavy they were tidal waves come over the islands..." (Bradbury, 1954) The only one that has experienced and remembers the sun is a young girl, Margot. Margot lived on Earth until she was four years old, unlike the others who have been living underground in Venus for their entire lives. Because of this, Margot is constantly facing problems regarding her classmates' jealousy of her past opportunities. Without the sun, she has become, as Bradbury writes, "...a very frail girl who looked as if she had been lost in the rain for years and the rain had washed out the blue from her eyes and the red from her mouth and the yellow from her hair. She was an old photograph dusted from an album, whitened away, and if she spoke at all her voice would be a ghost."(1954, Bradbury) In this short story by Bradbury, the theme is that jealousy and ignorance can blind us from seeing things how they really are. This is shown time after time when Margot is harassed, depressed, and isolated because of her classmates' jealousy. To begin, a way that Bradbury shows us that jealousy and ignorance can shield a person from the truth is through the main character, Margot, who is constantly being harassed by her classmates. The only reason Margot's classmates harass her is because she remembers the sun. This makes her different from all the others, who have lived here on Venus since birth. In this way, they are uneducated or ignorant because they have never experienced the sun. Because she is different, the classmates take every chance they have to harass her in any way they can. Right before the sun came out, one of the rare events that Margot was greatly anticipating, the classmates "...surged about her, caught her up and bore her, protesting, and then pleading, and then crying, back into a tunnel, a room, a ... • 17. The Tragedy of King Richard the Second: The Garden of the... Shakespeare's plays are not always easy to define how a particular scene contributes to the overall picture of the play. Looking only at the surface of the gardening scene in act 3, scene 4, the reader merely acquires that the gardeners are speaking about binding the apricots and plucking the weeds at the Duke of York's palace. However, the gardening essentially represents a metaphor for the rule and management of the kingdom under King Richard II. It becomes important to examine a scene such as this one to gain insight on what Shakespeare wants to convey. In this case, Shakespeare desires to reveal the perspective of the common man and the type of rule King Richard II has over the people of England. The gardeners, who act as a ... These nobles are bringing King Richard down by providing advice to him that damages his rule and England's people. Therefore, the nobles need to be tied up to stop bringing Richard's potential reign down. The speech continues in scene 4, act 3 by the gardener's suggestions in concerns to the rule of England. The next metaphor in the gardener's speech refers to trimming the sprays so that all is equal: Go thou, and like an executioner, Cut off the heads of too fast growing sprays, That look too lofty in our commonwealth: All must be even in our government. (3.4.34–37) In this, the gardener is commanding that the second man trim the tops of the high plants. In this way, the higher stems will become equal with the others and all plants will be at a shared height. The metaphorical analysis to this speech is that the gardener wants an execution or death of the higher nobles, the Earl of Wiltshire, Bushy, and Greene. By this, the gardener believes that England will become equal and fair. Through both of these metaphorical images through the garden, blame is being forced upon Richards's nobles and their influence over him. Similarity, the gardener's speech ends with the appointed blame on the nobles, "You thus employ'd, I will go root away/The noisome weeds, which without profit suck/The soil's fertility from wholesome flowers" (3.4. 38–40). After the whale revives itself, it struck the ship again, causing the Essex to sink bow–first. The men board their whaleboats after a night of preparation of leaving the Essex. They stripped the sails of the ship and attached them to their boats. The waves splashed over the boat, causing the work to be more difficult. The next morning, the boats take off. Chase and Pollard talk of where to go now that their ship has sunk. They speak about going to the Galapagos Islands, but Pollard noticed the wind direction would not allow them to go there. Next, they speak about the Marquesas, in the west. The men had heard that the inhabitants of the island were cannibals. South of the Marquesas were the Tauamotu Archipelago Islands, but the men had also heard that the islands have a bad reputation. In this conversation, we notice the colonist's outlook on the unknown. The short story "All summer is a day", by Ray Bradbury, takes place in the underground city of the planet Venus where tunnels roamed instead of streets. The land above them was submerged with endless pouring rain and deadly jungles. The sight of the sun was a rare miracle that only happened once every seven years. The children spent all their life in the enclosed underground tunnels, well all except for one. Margot was the only child who came to Venus when she was four, and the biggest difference was that she still remembered the times when the glowing sun gave warmth and hope. Thesis Statement (1–3 sentences) – Her past experiences and opportunities caused the children of Venus to be jealous of her. As a result, the children harassed Margot in disbelief. The gloomy, enclosed environment affects everyone greatly. The message of the story shows how the environment and the people around you can affect you because of their own lack of experiences. The author portrays this when the children harass the main character, he also uses craft moves to show isolation of the main character, and how depressed she is as a result. To begin, the author shows that the harassment Margot goes through is due to the children' lack of knowledge about the sun since they have spent their whole life on Venus. Throughout the day, Margot brings back memories of the sun. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Whale Rider Reflection Paper The movie is based on patriarchal mindset of choosing a male heir. The story of movie Whale Rider points to the sociological and theological values shared by the Whangara people in New Zealand. Historically, New Zealand has been ruled by the British Empire. Other than Christianity, one of the biggest religions practiced by the people is Hinduism. Surprisingly, the movie does not depict either of the religious values, nor shows any characters associating themselves with either of the faiths or faith traditions. Though the movie is entitled as Whale Rider, the movie does not show craving of the female protagonist to ride a whale, or to learn ride any other animal. She is seeing riding bike with her grandfather but that does not provide any hint to what riding on a bike meant for her grandfather or for her personally. The movie seems to present a lot of ideas and images without offering any background to the reason of their existence. The paper will present sociological and theological reflection of values as seen in the movie. Whale Rider carries an ethnic essence in its writing style depicted in dialogues of the characters as well as their style of living. It is a well written script for a movie that presents historical values without providing much depth of knowledge as to why the grandfather says to his students about their skill practice being watched by their fathers and their ancestors. Pointing to the style of living presented in the movie, one of the interesting things that I noticed in the movie was the placement of shoes in Koro's house. In one of the first scenes of the movie, Koro is seen wearing boots that are placed outside the threshold of his house. It is very likely that the image of shoes is symbolic and depicts the dust of one's journey and struggle to remain out of one's daily business, in their case, their lives. This can be seen how Koro argues with his son about taking his daughter away from his house, insisting on sending the little girl away and not wanting to keep her with him and his wife. When arguing with his son, Koro says "You've got the privileges but, don't forget you've also got the obligations." Another blank I saw in the movie was in the scene when Koro hugs his son, ... My second example is how well my parallax summary turned out, and even my graph. I completely understand how when the distance to an object increases the observed parallax decreases. I think the moment I understood everything was when I held up my thumb straight out in front of me, closed one eye and then the next. I know, it sounds dumb but that intrigued me into the assignment, when a little part of me finally understood it. My notebook helped me have everything right in front of me opposed to searching for multiple papers. Being a visual learner scared me going into high school until I had the opportunity to see everything at once. In all honesty the one thing that would improve my notebook would be motivation to myself. If I don't want to answer those questions we were assigned to do, or even write a summary that ... In the Heart of the Sea In the Heart of the Sea In 1819, The whale ship, Essex, set its sails and departed from Nantucket, Massachusetts on a voyage to the Pacific Ocean to hunt and kill sperm whales and retrieve the abundance of oil the whales possess, which became a crucial component in 19th century industry [2]. The island of Nantucket had been one of the most important oil businesses for quite some time. For the crew of the whale ships, harvesting whales was a tough assignment; when a whale was spotted, the crew would approach it, harpoon it, and then try to kill it. Once a whale was killed, its blubber was peeled from the corpse and then boiled for the high quality oil. On this particular journey the crew faced even more difficulties than just the killing ... The most significant decision made came from Captain Pollard, who wanted to choose what would have been the better option, but listened to the other officers and decided to sail a different route to South America, rather than go west, which would have been a shorter distance to the safety of shore. The men's speculations about the unknown contributed to their fear to sail for other islands in that area. Another costly decision. Soon thereafter the negative consequences began to reek havoc on the crew. Hunger, thirst, weather and even another attack from a whale added unneeded side effects. The saltwater burned their open wounds, their skins were severely sun burnt, not to mention toll that the loneliness played on the crew's ability to mentally withhold the circumstances. The difficult decisions they made ultimately led to situations and experiences that the crew would hope to forget. On the other hand, they were able to make some smart choices. They made sails for their smaller boats from the damaged Essex, and raised the sides of the boats to prevent waves from crashing aboard. Soon after all the abuse their bodies took, they reached the Henderson Islands. The days spent there provided the shipmates with slightly sufficient quantities of water, and a good supply of food. Although the Henderson Islands were not enough, the crew was still reassured and somewhat recuperated for what lied ahead. Two died shortly after departure from the islands and were ... • 29. Summary Of All Summer In A Day Try conceptualizing a world with perpetual rain. This is the world that Bradbury creates in his short story, "All Summer In a Day. A group of scientists and their children live on Venus, a planet that only sees the sun for an hour every seven years. The kids that immigrated here are only 9 years old. They do not remember the sun, as they have only seen the sun once, 7 years ago. But, there is a girl named Margot. Unlike the other kids, she was born on earth and moved to Venus 5 years ago. She has distinct memories of the sun. This causes her to stand out from the other kids. The loss of the sun causes her to grieve. The children living on Venus treat Margot mercilessly in jealousy due to her prior knowledge and experiences. This causes Margot to be a victim of depression, harassment, and denial. There are many conditions that affect Margot, One of them is depression. Unlike the other kids, Margot moved to Venus 5 years ago. She remembers the sun. Studies have shown that people who live in places where the sun doesn't shine for the better part of time can be depressed from Vitamin D or lack of the sun. This is what is happening to Margot. She used to be surrounded by the sun all the time after she moved, the amount of Vitamin D in her body became flat. This is illustrated in the excerpt, " 'Oh, it's much better than the sun lamps, isn't it?'"(Bradbury 1954) . This excerpt is exposing how they prevent depression in the kids. They use special lamps that imitate the sun. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Orion's is a hunter from Greek Mythology and is one of the most recognizable constellations. Orion has some of the brightest stars(some examples are Betelgeuse and Rigel) and is one of the prettiest winter constellations in my opinion. Finding Orion Orion is clearly visible in the sky from November to February(Thus calling it a winter constellation) and can usually be found in a number of places. Orion is in the southwest sky for the people in the Northern hemisphere and northwestern sky if you're in the Southern Hemisphere. It is easiest to see between latitudes 85 and –75 degrees. • 31. Main Methods Of Measuring Astronomical Distances Main methods of measuring astronomical distances: Scientist used different type to find the astronomical distances. Cosmic distance ladder is used to find the astronomical distances, which includes five different methods to find the astronomical distances. Radar ranging: Radar ranging is used to find the distance of the planets which are near. This method works by striking a beam of radio waves towards the object, the radio waves after striking the object will come back as echo. So, the time taken by the radio waves to come back in the form of echo can be used to find the distance of the object. Parallax: Parallax is used to find the distances of the stars which are near. This method works by measuring the distance of object from two different positions. First you measure the distance of the star from a specific position and then after six months when the earth is on the opposite direction of the sun we measure the distance of the star again. At that position, the star appears to move slightly than last. The parallax angle the star makes can be used to find the distance of the star through the help of trigonometry. Main sequence fitting: Main sequence fitting method is used to find the distance of the clusters of the stars. Clusters is group of stars which are next to each other. This process works by finding the apparent magnitude of the cluster from the earth. Then, we find the distance of the exact distance through the help of parallax methods. This distance of the ... The principle of Yin and Yang which are opposites living in harmony is linked with Ancient Chinese Philosophy. Although Yin and Yang come from Ancient China, the classic symbol was introduced as a shield pattern used by the Ancient Romans, 700 years before its first use in China. A connection between the two is yet to be found. Disregarding who created it, the Yin Yang was a bright idea, but what is the brightest object in the entire universe? To figure this out, we will need to measure in absolute magnitude. I am his Sunday school teacher and upon further communication, I informed him of the high antioxidant qualities of the Muscadine grapes my family's produce company sells, and I asked him if he might be interested in promoting either the grapes themselves or the various products developed using their seeds. He was interested. The grapes became a hot commodity and over six months, he paid for orders and delivery has been prompt, and no issues about payments even though they can be 15 to 30 days late. During one of the deliveries, Marshall made my son signed a contract that includes a guaranteed price schedule consistent with what he had been paying. Marshall told him that it was "just a formality" to guarantee a continuing business relationship. The signing of that contract established a formal business agreement between the two companies. Our business transactions were running perfectly, we were trying to meet the demand for our product, and until recently when a company in Texas offered to pay me twice the going rate for my products. I informed Marshall as I don't want to leave him out to dry. He was very angry and he told me that he expects me to continue to supply him with all the product he needs, when he needs it, and at the prices he had always paid, per the requirements contract between our businesses and in accordance with an implied duty of ... Why do you think Margot acts the way she does–why doesn't she play with her classmates, for example? Why does she react so strongly to the shower? Unlike the rest of the children in the classroom of Venus, Margot only came to Venus five years ago. She is totally different from other children not only in her behavior, but also in looks too. It is because of this difference that she is able to be targeted so easily by the other students. She being the only one of the children to have ever experienced sunlight, she always stood alien. She could not adapt herself with the environmental settings of Venus, and this adjusting problem had an emotional feedback in her mind, refusing even to shower in the school shower room. 2. • 40. Summary Of All Summer In A Day "All Summer In A Day" by Ray Bradbury is a short story about a girl named Margot and her experiences on the planet Venus. Margot moved to Venus from Earth when she was 4 years old, old enough to remember the sun. On Venus, the sun only comes out every 7 years for a couple hours, other than this, it's always raining. The other children on this planet bullied Margot, they were mean to her because she could remember the sun, and they didn't. One lesson the story suggests is that when you don't think about your actions, it can lead to regret and guilt. Throughout the story, the children were jealous of Margot and bullied her. Bradbury says, "They surged about her, caught her up and bore her, protesting, and then pleading, and then crying, back into a tunnel, a room, a closet, where they slammed and locked the door. They stood looking at the door and saw it tremble from her beating and throwing herself against it. They heard her muffled cries. Then, smiling, they turned and went out and back down the tunnel, just as the teacher arrived." This paragraph illustrates how mean the children were to Margot and how they acted so quickly without really thinking about what they were doing. When the children did this they acted out of jealousy and hurt Margot, without even knowing it. This is a reason why you should always think before you say or do something; sometimes we can get wrapped up in our own jealousy and hurt someone. After the the children hurt Margot they felt terrible and guilty. In the story it states "They stood as if someone had driven them like so many stakes, into the floor. They looked at each other and then looked away...They could not meet each other's glances. Their faces were solemn and pale." These couple short sentences tell us how the children looked after they remembered Margot, by knowing this, we know how they felt. Before, all of the children teamed up and shoved her in a closet, then the sun came out and they had a great time playing outside together. After 2 hours the sun was gone again and the children finally remember about Margot, when this happened each of them felt tremendously guilty. This a a reason why you should always be kind to others, because no matter what you will hurt them and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
