tweet on Twitter, and upload photos on Instagram, your power
crawls out from being a student to being a producer of
information.
If you have posted a picture of broken street light, several
messages can be elicited from it, it could mirror a lapse in
government expenditures, or criminal act of locals in the area.

The Power of Media and Information

  • 2. “People are no longer mere consumers of the media and other information sources, but are now producers as well.”
  • 3. TRUE OR FALSE 1. Nothing is private on social media. 2. Media provide economic opportunities for people of all ages. 3. Abuse in media and information usage can risk the consumer himself/herself. 4. The user (consumer or producer) is more powerful than the means (media and information)
  • 4. INDIVIDUAL TASK Read the given story which is adopted from a popular Jewish folktale which describe perfectly the power of words. Answer the questions that follow.

PROCESSING OF INFORMATION “With a great power comes great responsibility…” When you send a text messages, post status on Facebook, tweet on Twitter, and upload photos on Instagram, your power crawls out from being a student to being a producer of information. If you have posted a picture of broken street light, several messages can be elicited from it, it could mirror a lapse in government expenditures, or criminal act of locals in the area.

  • 14. Consequences • Media Dependency - People often neglect the fact that they can explore and do research • Inactive Students • Sources of Entertainment are also one click away • Impatience
