Nikes on my Feet: Annotated Lyrics and Music Video Treatment
1. Annotated Lyrics – Nikes on my feet.
[Chorus:]
And the Nikes on my feet keep my cypher complete
Nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nikes
And the Nikes on my feet keep my cypher complete
Nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nikes
Nike nike nikes
Nike nike nikes
Nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nikes
Nikes on my feet keep my cypher complete
Nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nikes
This is the opening chorus to the
music video however we do not
want to give away our best
footage and ideas at the start.
Although we want the music
video to start well and end with a
good variety of effects and shots.
In this section we want
the shots to be fast
paced as this will match
the tempo.
In this section we are thinking of having little performance and lip syncing
shots and more scenery and action shots. This is because this is the start of
the song and we see it as an introduction to the artist C.DOT.
Nike is a brand and it is
associated with many forms of
clothing and this song primarily
speaks about the Nike shoes.
We therefore have decided
that we are going to have close
up of a variety of Nike shoes.
The quick transition of this line
means that we will have a quick
ray of shots and we decided that
we would have Connor repeating
an action.
At this stage we wanted a shot of Connor
walking and the camera is directed at his
shoes. This is at a low angle shot at which
would look quite abstract as well as it
connects with the lyrics. We also do not
want to show C.DOT as we want to create a
build up to see him singing. This shot would
last no longer that 2-3 seconds.
At this stage we are thinking of a
scenery shot at which introduces
Connor as the artist. This will be
the first shot that we see Connor
although we were thinking this
could be a scenery in London.
This chorus lasts 21 seconds at the start of the song. There is a slight
introduction at the start of the song. We are going to have some fast cut
aways to a variety of locations at which will be mainly based in London.
2. [Verse 1:]
Aye lace em up, Lace em up, Lace em up, & Lace em
Blue suede shoes stay crispy like bacon.
Nikes on my feet make my cypher complete,
Uh I stay shining like the lights on the street in the night.
Revis take me shoppin when I'm up in New York
Hit the shoe store go & cop a few more
You at the mall getting dinner at the food court
I'm at LA eatin 22 course
Young boss bitch paper in my pockets
I got a closet filled with shoe boxes
Mom says my spending habit a little bit obnoxious
But a pilot stay fresh up in his cockpit
Used to rock hand me downs
Now I buy some clothes wear em out, hit the club bitches pull they cameras out.
Livin in a dream they beginning to believe
My hotel smell like cigarettes and weed.
Shit, with what I'm spitting they should give me a degree
Good liqour what I'm sipping isn't cheap uh
Feeling a blow don't snooze don't sleep
All I really need is some shoes on my feet
At the beginning of this verse we want to
introduce C.DOT the artist and immediately
lip sync. As our previous work has shown us
Connor performs really well and connects
well with our genre. Because of this we will
have Connor singing directly to the camera
and centre of the frame to show his stature
and importance. Similar to the shot above.
The first 5 lines will be the majority of Connor
performing to the camera in different locations
such as barbican and Vietnam embassy. These
shots will be quick and will match the tempo. This
will show Connors performance and his different
types of outfits which links to he genre of hip hop.
This particular line in the verse we can link the lyrics
with the shot. We are going to shoot a panning or
tracking shot of the lights. This will be a scenery
shot. This line Connor directly addresses himself as
he is the artist so at the start of this line we are
thinking of having a quick cut away shot of connor
at which he could lip sync and point towards the
next shot which will be the light
Connor whilst lip syncing did some action
at which we all agreed we enjoyed this
section as he action worked very well with
the lyrics. We will film this section a
variety of times in different locations and
pick the best footage to be placed in our
video. The action can be shown below,
this is from our practise shoot.
This line of lyrics directly addresses the audience and
therefore I feel as though a close up of Connors face
and looking directly at the camera would match this.
During these 4 lines the lyrics and the
tempo of the song is relatively quick
compared to the rest of the song.
During this stage we are likely to have a
variety of quick shots from London, the
graffiti wall and the dome. I personally
feel as though a mix of quick shots at
which you can still see Connor singing is
the best method. Although we may
also add some scenery shots in as
before this there is a lot of lip syncing.
We came up with an idea for this line that we
could have him looking up towards the sky as
if he is dreaming.
This shot will be of Connor holding a soft
drink as we do not want to seem like
alcoholic drinking is always associated with
rappers. The good liquor lyric will then be
assembled with this.
The shot to the right will be in our music video and this will shows
the CCTV at which highlights crime a representation of hip hop.
3. [Chorus:]
And the Nikes on my feet keep my cypher complete
Nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nikes
And the Nikes on my feet keep my cypher complete
Nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nikes
Nike nike nikes
Nike nike nikes
Nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nikes
Nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nikes
[Verse 2:]
I make em so mad, they got no swag
Pimpins on my feet they the throw backs
Look, my moneys good but these hoes bad
So they stay attached to my gonads uh
Wakin up to a few L's
Open up my closet to that new shoe smell
I guess I'm going well
Smoking all the weed that I used to sell
But once my album goes in the shelves
It's goin Nextel how it's feelin sell
For now we sellin tapes out my shoe box
Any spot just set up my shop
Ya mad that ya girl always says that I'm hot
Shes buyin my t-shirt but shes spending your guap
Say whud up if you see me around
Nike airs separate my feet from the ground it's just
Throughout each chorus we are
going to have the same effect with
different shoes as shown to the
below. This effect will be three
small shots at which will fit into
this chorus. There will be a
different type of shoe for each
chorus.
Connor will have some shots dancing in different locations such as the CCTV recording shot will be
placed in this chorus. We feel this could be a good chance to take the attention away from the lip
syncing as we previously in the other verse have a high volume of shots which are lip syncing.
We want the chorus to be quite
animated in the sense that Connor is
mainly on the move however we do
want a contrast where Connor will be
completely static with very little
movement whilst he is sitting down.
Although as the tempo is very quick we
mainly want a quick pace with Connor
being very animated at which is very
much like other rap music videos.
At the beginning of verse 2 we want
to introduce Connor back to the
audience as he is not lip syncing in
the chorus therefore the first four
lines will be mainly Connor
performing in a variety of different
angles and will be in different
locations whilst keeping the pace of
the song.
This line is relatively rude and therefore we want to make
this seem as though a joke at which will appeal to our
target audience where Connor will start to point towards
his crotch area however the shot will quickly change at
the ‘gonads’. This will be a small pun inside the song at
which we can play around with. This will be an animated line with a variety of
gestures as he is singing directly towards people,
‘they got no swag’. As shown in the image above.
There will be a variety of
shots inside the Dome in
this verse at different
angles. These shots will be
mainly based around
Connor, with some lip
syncing shots although
there will be a slow down
in the base building up
towards the final chorus.
As this verse is longer we will also provide shots at the
graffiti wall with a different style of Connor performing
and this is likely to include other people in the shots as
we do not want to look as repetitive throughout the
whole music video at which is shown to the right.
This line we think that Connor could gesture the L shape with his
arms whilst performing to the camera.
Connor again will be an animated performer and will perform an
action of him smoking but is also at the centre of the frame moving
closer towards the camera. This will be a quick transition.
We felt with this line that we could
have a couple of shots of lots of Nike
shoe boxes
4. [Chorus:]
And the Nikes on my feet keep my cypher complete
Nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nikes
And the Nikes on my feet keep my cypher complete
Nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nikes
Nike nike nikes
Nike nike nikes
Nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nikes
Nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nike nikes
In this chorus as the lyrics are repetitive we
are going to rewind a type of shot which will
link in the tempo of the music. This is an
effect which as a group we like a lot after
seeing this performed in other music videos
we have seen. This was shown when we did
Banana Phone.
This is the final Chorus therefore we must make sure that this is
one of the best bits in the music video. Jake Wynne advised us
to save our best shots and effects for the last moment so that it
provides a good affect for the person who is watching our
video.
Our best shot at which we feel
would create the biggest effect is
the poster at which Connor was
able to place onto the billboard
in the background. This is an
effect at which we all as a group
liked. This can be shown below.
At this stage there will be some lip syncing as
we feel performance is also a key point in our
music video because Connor is very good at
it but also because we are resenting C.DOT as
a new rapper and therefore we feel this is
vital to see Connor perform as people do not
really like to watch a static non entertaining
performance on stage.
Connor will be centre of attention
and his hand movements will be
in time with the beat and directed
straight at the camera as you can
see below.
At the end of the
song we are going
to have Connors
Parallax at which he
created showing
himself on stage in
with his back to the
audience as shown
to the right.
As this is towards the end of the
music video and the song we are
thinking of having shots where
Connor is walking away rom the
camera as he was introduced
walking towards the camera
without singing and therefore we
feel as though we could do the
opposite effect.
