Alex Southam began his career as a one-man band, handling all filming, lighting, and editing himself for his music videos. His breakthrough came with the music video for Alt-J's "Tesselate," which he shot in one day for £10,000 using a large cast. He is known for creative music videos that allow artistic freedom, such as Chase and Status' "Lost and Found" which had a £50,000 budget and vintage 1990s VHS video aesthetic. Southam prefers creating music videos over commercials which allow less creative freedom.
