The La Union Colleges of Science and Technology Inc. held a Math-Sci Festival from January 22-26, 2019 to celebrate the importance of science and mathematics. The festival included several events like a poster-making contest, a math-science quiz bee, chess and Rubik's cube competitions, a jingle contest, and an eco-fashion show. The junior high school's Math-Sci Club and coordinators helped organize the various events that were held throughout the week to engage students and highlight the role of science and math in innovation and everyday life.

Junior High School Math-Sci Club
La Union Colleges of Science and Technology Inc. starts the Math-Sci Festival
on January 22-26, 2019. This festival celebrates the importance of Science and
Mathematics on the lives of students and people alike. Technology advances
everyday as we adapt in this world for the brighter future. The JHS Math-Sci
Club and Coordinators Ms. Aireen Maye Abuan and Mrs. Lorna Carrera helps
in celebrating the Math-Sci Festival.
In January 22, 2019 in Tuesday, there is the Poster Making Event where
students make their own colorful and artistic poster in Science and
Mathematics in the theme “Science and Mathematics for the people, Innovation
for Collective Prosperity”. It was held on 2:00 PM on the Junior High School
Library. The Teacher In-Charge is Mrs. Mirachellle Dulatre-Mucua. The winner
of JHS Poster Making Contest is Trizia Mae Fernando of Grade 10-Hera.
Next in January 23, 2019 Wednesday is the Math-Sci Quiz Bee. The Quiz Bee
contains Science and Math questions for the 3 Difficulty rounds: Easy,
Average, and Difficult. There are 6 Groups with 4 members each. It was held on
3:15 PM on the classroom of Grade 7-Aphrodite with Ms. Aireen Abuan and
Mrs. Lorna Carrera. The winner is Matt Daniel Vallega, Shyra Rianna Claudio,
Marie June Inas, and Sean Claudio.
2. In January 24, 2019 Thursday is the Chess Competition. Each section in JHS
have 1 member to compete in chess. There are 8 participants. It was held on
3:00 PM on the Junior High School Library with Ms. Arlene Hoover in charge.
The champion on the chess competition is Renjhay Malicsi from Grade 9-
Hestia.
In January 25, 2019 Friday is the Rubik’s Cube Competition. Many
participants get to complete the Rubik’s Cube in the race of who will be the
first. It was held on 3:00 PM on the Junior High School Library with Mrs. Lorna
Carrera in charge. The winner is Bernabe Agodilla Estigoy Jr. From Grade 9-
Hebe.
The main program starts on January 26, 2019 Saturday. The Math-Sci Jingle
Contest starts on the morning where all the students show their musical and
creative jingle on Mathematics and Science. The winner on the Junior High
School is Grade 8-Ceres. In the afternoon, the Eco-Fashion Show starts where
the paired participants on every class create their costume with recycling
materials like paper, plastic, CDs and appliances. Every participant shows
their beautiful costumes and impress the audience. The winner in Junior High
School is Ms. Hannah Deborah Estepa and Mr. Lucky Nocos.
The Math-Sci Festival is the exciting and wonderful event for students on La
Union Colleges of Science and Technology Inc. Science and Mathematics will
continue to help students on making wise decisions and to better solve the
problems of their daily life.
