Title - Understanding and representing the Human Body through Art
Competences:
- Analyze narratives of the representation of the human body in the
different visual languages and throughout the History of Art.
- Recognize, through plastic experimentation, art as an expression of
feeling and knowledge.
- Expressively represent the human figure comprising basic relations of
structure and proportion;
- Identify parts of the body and physical features;
- Describe eight pieces of art exhibited in the museum of Évora;
- Give information about chronology, material and the artistic period of
the paintings and sculptures;
- Illustrate each piece through drawing techniques

From prehistory to the present
day, the representation of the
HUMAN FIGURE has been one of
the main themes of Visual Arts.
From prehistoric depictions to
contemporary abstractions, artists
have represented the human body
differently.
To better understand this
evolution, we decided to go to the
museum in Évora to discover some
of these differences.
A guided visit to the museum in
Évora was made by the students.
They presented and described
eight artistic pieces (paintings and
sculptures) from different periods.

2. According to the description
provided and visual observation,
students illustrated each artistic
piece by using drawing techniques.
