TRAINING SCHOOLS
Training schools were established throughout
Europe and America to teach people the skills
required to operate the new machinery in
factories and plants.
CAREER SPECIALISATION
Prior to the Industrial Revolution, most
students would only learn basic academic
skills such as arithmetic. With the dawn of
machinery, it became possible for students to
specialise in a specific industry and learn the
skills required for the job they wanted. This
might include energy production, textiles or
the medical sector.
COMPULSORY EDUCATION
While previously only children from wealthy
families would have had access to education,
new regulations demanded mandatory
education for all children up to the age of 10.
Women and girls were also given access to
education, albeit in different subjects based
on traditional gender roles.
