Yes and No in Korean Essay
Yes and No
After coming to America, I have suffered from the improper usage of "yes" and "no." I sometimes
confuse an affirmative response with a negative one because the usage of "yes" and "no" in Korean
is different from English. For example, if I am asked, "Haven't you had dinner yet?" and I have not
had dinner yet, then in Korean I usually say, "Yes, I haven't." But in English, I have to say, "No, I
haven't." This different usage of "yes" and "no" in Korean and in English sometimes causes
misunderstandings or even estrangements between my American friends and me.
Because of my misuse of "yes" and "no," I often find that my friends misunderstand me: They
perceive the exact opposite meaning from what I intend to give them. The ... Show more content on

He said that I pronounced "of course" so strongly that he could not ask me further; he thought that I
was very proud of being a North Korean. I actually affirmed what I wanted to negate strongly.
The different usage of "yes" and "no" also causes estrangement between my friends and me. During
the summer of 1989, my close friend was a dorm–mate, Mark. He was in his late twenties and had
gotten married about five years ago. One sultry weekend night, he brought his son and daughter into
the dorm. Playing with each other, his son and daughter made some noise while they were running
up and down. I did not mind the noise since I was just watching T.V. The next morning, I came
across Mark and his offspring in the doorway of the dorm. After we both said, "Hello," he
introduced his children to me.
"Nice to meet you. How old are you?" I asked his son.
"He is three years old," Mark replied on behalf of his son and asked me smiling, "Didn't they make
noise last night? Didn't it bother you?" Because I did not mind the noise at all, I clearly said "Yes!"
How stupid I appeared to be! The mild smile suddenly disappeared from his face, and he said, "I am
sorry about that. They are going right now, so they will not bother you

Open Ended Questions
Perception of fear among female prisoners housed in a maximum–security prison
Operational definition of fear– The synonyms of fear is terror or horror. It can also classified as
anticipation of some known or unknown danger. This anticipation makes us afraid. Sometimes some
special feelings or unpleasant memories are also associated that results in fear. Fear can also be
associated with the anticipation of physical and/or mental pain.
The female inmates in a prison are in the close confines of a specific area. They are residing with
unknown people and in hostile conditions. The prison inmates may or may not be their friends.
Female prisoners may face many dangers in the form of sexual assaults, indifference of inmates,
psychological and mental pressure along with the pain of separation from their loved ones. Here we
can apply the concept of operational fear to the minds of millions of female inmates living in
prisons. Their fear from other inmates is not unfounded.
Open–ended questions are the questions that have no specific answer. Here the person answering the
questions has the liberty to answer the question as he/she feels like. Open–ended questions give us
insight about the mindset of the person as well as their experiences. These questions provide a
wealth of information about the perceptions of the inmates. They are interactive and interpretative in
nature.

In your opinion, what are the most common forms of exploitation of the female

Brand Tracking Survey
This is a brand tracking survey that Steinlager beer might use. You will see where you can insert
your own product category and brand name.
Notice how the questions go from broad to specific. Keep that format if you add your own
questions. Keep all of these questions! Be aware that in some situations, brand tracking may be
concerned with which products the brand reminds consumers of (when the brand is on multiple
products), instead of which brands the product reminds people of (as we do here). Parts of this

Methods Of Using Stratified Sampling Essay
Procedure This present study utilized two self–report surveys administered to inmates within state–
run prisons in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Virginia. The
participating facilities and the inmates were selected utilizing stratified sampling. From the total
number of facilities (126), fifty facilities were randomly selected. The facilities were selected by
grouping them into different security levels (maximum, medium, and minimum) and were all given
a number and selected using a random number generator. Lists of all the inmates were collected
from the facilities and 10,000 male inmates were randomly selected to be surveyed. They were
selected by grouping the inmates by classification level (general population, protective custody, and
segregation). Each of these inmates were given a number and a random number generator was
utilized to randomly select participants. Stratified sampling was utilized because it ensures that the
researcher collect a more representative sample by using different security level facilities and
different custody levels of inmates as a sampling frame. The participants were surveyed twice over a
period of one year; the surveys were mailed out to the facilities and were self–administered to the
participants. Participants had three weeks to complete and mail the survey back to the research
facility using the return envelope provided. The survey response rate was sixty–five percent of those

Teen Depression
Introduction
The research project my group and I decided to do was on teen depression. We wanted teens to be
more familiar with this major teen issue and how it affects our daily lives. Teen depression is a
major concern and it is not fully acknowledged within high schools. Many people even adults don't
understand the results of teen depression. The statistics on teen depression are sobering. Studies
indicate that one in five children have some sort of mental, behavioral, or emotional problem, and
that one in ten may have a serious emotional problem. Some quick facts, one in eight teens may
suffer from depression. Of all these children and teens struggling with emotional and behavioral
problems, 30 % of these teens receive any sort of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Counselling means talking about your feelings with a professional trained psychologist who can

Medicine is used to treat depression that is more severe. When you feel seriously depressed and its
taking over your life than antidepressant medications might be necessary. With some sort of
depression many depressed teens say they feel it just a few weeks. Remember, when you feel as if
everything is impossible and you don't feel wanted, you are not alone.

Teacher: Yesterday, we talked about the difference between a sentence and a sentence fragment.
Yesterday also, you answered exercises in the workbook. Yes or No?
Students: Yes!
Teacher: Thank you for your response. In connection to that, I'll be introducing a new topic which is
about Recognizing Subject and Predicate. And I believe you have a good idea as regards these two
basic parts of a sentence. Let's continue. Let's try to differentiate a complete subject from a complete
predicate. Someone to read? Yes, Mr. Pascua.
Student: The complete subject names what or whom the sentence is telling about.
Teacher: Okay, that's the complete subject. In other words, it is the one being talked about in a
sentence. What makes it different from a predicate now? Someone to read?
Student: The complete predicate says something about the complete subject.
Teacher: Okay, the complete predicate tells something about the complete subject. It describes the
complete subject. Okay, let's continue. Later on, I'll be giving examples of it. Anyway, let's have

The Glass Ceiling Effect Stand Between Men And Women...
The literature review presented in Chapter 2 of this study discusses the issues associated with the
"glass ceiling" phenomena by explaining why there are smaller proportion of women leaders in
business and project management using the case of Transport for London. The purpose of this
qualitative phenomenological study is to ascertain whether women employees in TfL experience the
"glass ceiling" effect. As a result, the study is designed to focus on the positive experiences and
approaches that contribute to and influence the success of women in senior level administration
positions instead of focusing on the barriers to such.
Research Questions
The following question will guide the study: How does the glass ceiling effect stand between men
and women employees, especially those in senior level management within project management in
UK transport infrastructure projects and other industries? The question is further sub–divided to
provide a concrete answer to the overarching question; this includes an analysis of how women in
senior level administrative positions in the transport industry describe and perceive the glass ceiling
experience, the characteristics of the women in such senior level administrative positions that are
crucial in breaking the glass ceiling.
Moreover, the study will also ascertain the tools and resources necessary for women in the transport
infrastructure projects to advance to the senior level administrative jobs. This study will also be

Intake Form Critique

GW Associates Counseling and Hypotherapy (2016) is an organization that offers individual, family,

The organization uses "A holistic approach to individual and family therapy" (Weisser, 2016) and is
operated by a licensed social worker in Denton, Maryland. The agency uses a seven page
multidimensional intake form that must be completed by the client or client's guardian.
Does it ask all of the necessary questions to determine the client's presenting problem?

For example, the pages with the long list of past psychiatric medications could be removed. That
section is redundant as the form already asks the client to list their medications. If that section was
removed, it would not impact the information or leave any void concern. Also, the open ended
question at the end that asks if the client wanted to share anything else could be shortened.
Overall, the intake form has some very key components. However, there are a few questions that
could be added to obtain clarity and a more comprehensive overview of the client's presenting
problem and background. "The presenting problem and the exploration that follows usually identify
key individuals, groups, or organizations that are participants in the client's difficulties" (Hepworth,

The Campus Of Florida State University A Study
In 1978 on the campus of Florida State University a study was done in which the results would seem
obvious to us today. If you were a female or male on campus during this time you may have been
approached and told "I have been noticing you around campus. I find you to be attractive. Would
you go to bed with me tonight?" If you were a male in the study you probably would have thought it
was truly a gift from God. But it is simply too good to be true. The experiment was led by a
psychologist named Russell Clark who was very interested in relationships and the differences
between males and females. Clark was able to get his students from his psychology class to help him
find out some answers. The experiment was designed to find which gender ... Show more content on

This isn't surprising because most people are probably thinking why not? It could be fun.
However, once the questions became racier the difference between men's and women's responses
was highlighted. In the experiment held only six percent of women said yes to a visit to a random
man's apartment, when about sixty–nine percent of men were eager to say yes. This also doesn't
seem to be a surprise because most guys feel safer going to a random girl's apartment then vice
versa. When the third question was asked and casual sex was requested, no women said yes, but
about seventy–five percent of men accepted the proposal without second thought. The men who
declined the offer all gave an excuse to justify the rejection such as stating they are married or
currently is in a relationship. Women, on the contrary, denied the requests with quick responses such
as "What is wrong with you?" or "leave me alone." The results show that women become highly
grossed out when asked the third question and not one felt the urge to say yes.
The results of the experiment are not too shocking because it commonly acknowledged that men
have greater sexual desires and demands than that of females. Clark had some speculations when the
results of the experiment were developed citing reasons why the numbers vary so much between

How often people drink coffee
How often people drink coffee
ENC 1101
Florida International University
Abstract
In today's society, over half of the adults in the United States drink coffee daily, and the percentage
has been in increase for the past years or decades. In general, this increase of consuming coffee has
been affected by various factors. It depends on ethnicity, race, age, gender, life stress and even the
weather or hours of the day disturbs why people consume it. But how often people drink coffee? Or,
What properties coffee drinkers know coffee has? These are some question that many people do not

The first question was about how many times in the day they drink coffee, or if they do not drink
coffee at all. This question was to create some insight about all the caffeine they are giving to their
body. The second one was about the usual time they drink coffee. This one was to show them the
pattern they might use without even noticing it. The third question was asking for a reason why they
drink coffee. This one was used to identify the key terms that induce them to have a coffee and the
dependency from it. The fourth one was about the kind of coffee they usually drink. This one was
used just to find differences between the addictions of drinking coffee, if any. Finally, the fifth one
was as simple as the knowledge about coffee's side effects. This one was used to identify consumer's
knowledge about the coffee they are drinking. The survey can be found below in Appendix B.

The purpose of the experimenter is to find out if the beachboard should extend the time to let the
students could be able to see all of their scores including the scores of their last tests or finals. If yes,
then how and if no, then why? The reason is that because the experimenter has experienced many
times going to Beachboard after the final day of school to look for the last scores from classes, but
didn't see the scores of the final tests. The experimenter could only go to MyCSULB to look for the
letter grades of the courses about some weeks after the finals have been done. About some weeks

It is because some classes has about hundreds of students and the professors need a lot of time to

into its "Grades" tab like "Final Letter Grade." If so, the students could also see their letter grades at
the end of each semester from professors without needing to log into MyCSULB or to calculate it by
themselves.

there was no paper on her desk. "Ally where is your homework, it's due today." "I know and im
sorry but I didn't get it done because I had a cross country meet and completely forgot about my
homework because I was exhausted." "Well Ally you shouldn't let your sports interfere with your
homework." "Okay it won't happen again I promise." You may blame sports for not being able to
study or get your homework done but is it really the sports fault or yours? Athletes often said, "that
during their sports season they never have enough time to complete their work, because their main
focus was on sports." Says USA Today. "Team travel was also cited as a stress factor because of
missed classes and assignments." On Livestrong.com they also say that some students thrive when
they have such a compact schedule, for example, senior field hockey player Leah Ferenc said "Most

Analysis Of Mullen Rhoadsrbtm7109-2 : Develop And Apply A...
Mullen–RhoadsRBTM7109–2: Develop and Apply a Personal Toolkit To develop a personal toolkit
for critiquing research article, critical thinking that imposes intellectual standards will be the
fundamental strategy employed (Elder & Paul, 2008; "Public Library," 2013). Critical thinking will
be employed to minimize bias from the literature review, which should provide a more solid
springboard for the dissertation process. The intellectual standards that will be employed are clarity,
accuracy, precision, relevance, depth, and breadth. Critical thinking should result in crucial
questions and issues for potential research and the ability to articulate them clearly and accurately
(Elder & Paul, 2008; "Public library," 2013). In addition, before initiating a literature review, the
focus, type, scope and academic discipline of articles will be determined ("Strategies for Writing,"
n.d.). Focus will consider the thesis, predicament, or research question that will be researched. Type
will determine if the search will highlight theory, methodology, or the kind of study, that is,
qualitative or quantitative research. Scope will establish sources that will be considered such a range
of research dates. Choosing an academic discipline such as business or psychology will help focus
the search on literature germane to the dissertation goal ("Strategies for Writing," n.d.).

Reflection: Christian Worldview
My Worldview Reflection
The first question given in the book is if we have the power to make choices ourselves or if we are
simply following some sort of programming, like our brains, and not actually making choices
ourselves. I answered yes to this question. I find it hard to believe that we do not have any sense of
free will or ability to make choices ourselves. I do believe that God has a plan for us and that He is
an omniscient God, I still believe that God gave us the free will to make our own decisions. For
example, we choose to whether or not we want to follow God.
The next question we are faced with in the book is if there is any objective truth. I answered that yes
there is an objective truth. The reason I said this is because there ... Show more content on

I believe that a large part of this comes from growing up in a Christian household. Both of my
parents are Christians, our family goes to church on a regular basis, and my parents are always open
to discuss the Bible and Christianity giving me every opportunity to learn about God and Jesus. The
other reason for my lack of surprise comes from who I am as a person, which is a person who is
convicted in my beliefs; weather this is because of how my parents raised me or how God made me
I am not entirely sure. Either way growing up in a Christian household gave me the foundation for
my belief in Jesus and Christianity, but the choice to continue to believe in Jesus and Christianity
was something I had to decide for myself when I left home. I have continued to believe in Jesus and
Christianity, as my ending worldview shows; if anything coming away to school has only
strengthened my beliefs and conviction.
I was satisfied with where my journey ended. I think the main reason I was satisfied is that my
ending point matched up with what I said I believed. Even though I feel convicted in my beliefs,
there are moments in which I find myself succumbing to self–doubt. I am left to wonder do I really
believe that or am I just saying that I believe that? More so do my beliefs line up with the worldview
I claim to have or do they line up with a different worldview entirely? The ending sense of
confirmation leaves me with

Lexical And Axical Analysis Of 'Interpreter Of Maladies'
'Interpreter of Maladies' is a collection of nine short stories. The stories are about the Indians, caught

remain the same in themes yet ideas differ in their perspectives. They present Indian immigrant
people in different and variant roles and situations. Being herself the child of immigrant parents,

Courtroom Interaction Essay
Courtroom interaction consists of interpretive aspects opened to the audience and jury. However,
courtroom accounts of events can be judged by common–sense knowledge. In addition, cross–
examinations rely on assessing the truth and invalidating the other accounts. It is problematic for
jurors due to common sense bases allowing desired influences to effect the verdict. When one is
interrogated during courtroom interaction, the turns are either designed to imply blame or justify an
action. For instance, a transcript of a 1979 case begins with a pre–allocation in the form of a yes–no
question. However, once the witness failed to comply with the turns, the council repeated the
question and enforced the yes–no order. To illustrate, a member ... Show more content on

The first pair is 'adjacency pairs', which anticipate the answers to be said by their second–pair parts.
Together, these two–pair parts are complementary through conditional relevance (Goodwin &
Duranti, 622). If the second pair part response were to not be given, it is then interpreted to be not
present. This can be simplified to expectations of explicit requests. If a request is made, the premade
response is a "yes". When the response is unfavorable, the turn is then modified to restate the
preferred answer. In addition, when interrogating a witness, the courtroom uses agreement to format
a basis of reasoning for the accusation. (624). For instance, the witness's response to the amount of
petrol bombs thrown was "only a couple". This response lessons the severity of the incident.
Following the response of how many bombs were dropped, the witness continues to add on to the
response; which contained too much information being said. Because too much information was
given for a simple question, it displays how the witness felt potentially attacked through that
questioning (624). Thus, courtroom questionings are favored to their own benefit, as well as the use
of using agreement to form potential guilt. To conclude, courtroom interaction through context in
courtroom talk can differ. Interpretation of the audience can be swayed by common sense
knowledge, structure of turn–by–turn organization of talk, and general

Ethical Behavior And The Business Community
During the 2008 economic crisis there were a lot of questions about ethical behavior in the business
community. The result of the behavior led to questions about how and when the practice of unethical
behavior began and if it was related to practices students learned while in business school. Rocky
University has commissioned a group to review the data provided from an anonymous survey to
find if there is a culture and history of cheating in the school of business. "Business ethics is the
study of proper business policies and practices regarding potentially controversial issues"
(Investopedia, 2016). This definition is relatable to the ethics in business school studies. The use of
non–approved material or assistance can lead to questions about the collection and validity of the
results in any student's submissions. How does the two relate, and is there a correlation between
cheating in school and unethical behavior in the business community? By understanding more about
what is being allowed in the university, it may provide us with insight into when this type of
behavior starts and how can the university community can combat it at an introductory level. Rocky
University provided a sample of 90 graduating business students with responses to three questions
regarding academic improprieties. This report will evaluate the data and provide answers to the
following questions, the total of students who are considered cheating, proportion of students that

Teaching A Foreign Language Has Never Been Easy
Assignments #3 Morphology/ Syntax
Learning a foreign language has never been easy; one reason is the language system of each country
varies vastly. Question structuring is one system that requires investigation in order to fully learn the
technique of asking questions. Turkish and Polish are two countries that contrast immensely in
question formation. This essay will first investigate the question forming system in these two
countries in asking yes/ no questions, and other regular questions. Following after is a comparison
between the two languages.
Polish follows the word order of subject + verb + object (Pimsleur Approach, n.d.). When asking
questions, subject is usually replaced by a question word while the verb is changed to the ... Show

Attaching a Wh–question word at the beginning of the sentence is one other way to form a question.
Wh– questions words in Polish include "Co", "kto", "dlaczego", "gdzie" and "jak", which are
"where", who", "why", "where" and how" in English. ("Polish Questions", n.d.)
Meanwhile, Tukish follows the rule of Subject + Object +Verb (Yıldız, Solak, Görgün & Ehsani,
n.d.). Yes/ no questions are formed by adding the suffix,"–mi", at the end of the sentence. Although
"–mi" is inserted as a question word, it is considered as a suffix because it has to comply with the
vowel harmony rule in regulating the relationship between suffixes and vowels. An example is "bu
bir kitap mi?", which means "Is this a book?" in English (Turkish Class, n.d.). As a free morpheme,
"–mi" can be modified depending on the occasion. For instance, "–mi" belongs to present tense,
while "miydim" is in past tense (Manisa Turkish, 2014). Thus "–mi" is an inflectional affixation that
changes form in different contexts. Inserting "değil mi" at the end of the sentence is another way to
ask a yes/ no question. "Değil mi", "not" in English, is also an inflectional affixation that adds
grammatical information to the question. For other questions types, a question word can be placed
on the word/ phrase of the answer to form a question. The following rules can better explain this.
First, the answer sentence is

The Use Of Adaptive Pressure On Our Memory
ur memory still contain traces from our evolutionary past? To what extent do our operating abilities
involving memory, still prescribe to our distant ancestral selection pressures? These questions have
all been considered, however, the role of adaptive pressures on our memory, have just began to be
studied further by memory researchers. Scholars have attempted to study how our current memory
processing capabilities could have been tailored to achieve specific outcomes from our instinctual
past. This research could be a window into empirical findings that may challenge existing
perspectives on retention. Possibly, even help foster creative memory mnemonics that could assist
us in our daily lives, where memory is concerned. A level of processing is described as the memory
recall of stimuli as a function of the depth of mental processing (McLeod 2007). Levels of
processing range from shallow levels to deeper levels of processing. For example, answering the
question "Does the word rhyme with cow?" induces a shallow level of processing, whereas
answering "How pleasant is the word to you?" induces a deep level of processing. Asking if the
word is pleasant or not is considered to invoke a deeper level of processing because it requires the
consideration of the meaning of the word and how you think about that word, while asking whether
or not the word rhymes with cow is only considering the structure or the word in question. Its
important to consider these levels, since research

The first instance is in Book One. The reason that Satan gathered up fellow angels to start a war is
because he was jealous of the Son. Similarly to actual religious texts, John Milton makes it very
plain in the novel that God and the Son are two separate entities. The Son or as some call him, Jesus
was somewhat of the vessel to save humanity. The Son was more of God's right hand or like "the
golden kid". Satan was envious and did not think that it was fair, so he tried to fight. Despite what
most would say, I actually feel like this jealousy makes Satan out to be more of a hero as opposed to
a villain. In order to be jealous if someone, one would have to care about said person. One have to
have some kind of fear or anxiety about losing said person. So, I feel that Satan was concerned that
he would lose his favorable position with God. Satan was ultimately jealous of the Sons' position

A Survey Study On How Survey Studies Affects The...
Introduction
One of the primary obstacles in survey studies is often eliciting responses from surveyed
individuals. As we have seen throughout this semester, larger sample sizes are beneficial to
statistical analyses, as increasing the sample size can increase the power of a hypothesis test, reduce
the sampling variability in a sample, and meet the baseline number of collected 'observations' that
are needed to perform specific analyses. This is not to say that larger sample sizes are unequivocally
better; a truly random, yet representative sample is more important. If one already has a large,
randomly collected and representative sample, increasing the sample size will not improve the
analysis. Our study focuses on how survey topic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Methods
Who: We surveyed Vassar students sitting alone at tables at the Retreat, and Vassar students as they
entered and exited the All Campus Dining Center (Deece). We believe that by surveying individuals
from the Retreat and the Deece, we achieved a truly random sample with respect to our research
question. In other words, we do not think that the choice to eat at the Deece or Retreat directly
affects willingness to take a survey.
What: The response rate (Yes/No) to short, anonymous surveys offered on a control, controversial
and neutral topic.
Where: The Retreat and Deece. These areas are well trafficked by most of the Vassar student
population, and we believe that individuals surveyed here are representative of Vassar's student body
with respect to our research question.
When: November 11 and 12 (between 2PM and 4PM)
Why: We are interested in determining if the survey topic (neutral vs. controversial) affects the
number of Vassar students that are willing to participate in that survey.
How: (see methodology for additional information) We went to The Retreat on November 11 for one

."
"The map can be in its proverbial or literal capacity, so long as it provides ye blueprints (again,
proverbial or literal) to finding all in regards to ye Artifacts."

you within this most broad, literal and absolute sense in regards to ye word and I will tell you."
Max gave her a shrewd grin. "We can't have that, can we? There would be no point in pursuing
power if I was to instantly relinquish it within this end. I've already sold my proverbial soul for
power. Why should I sell ye literal? My body, you can make use of on occasion. My ... Show more

not even be able to touch it. If she was aligned with ye forces of Light, she could do so with ease.
Sadly, there were no loopholes to this. He'd spent centuries trying to find one, with ye collective

Yes And No In Korean Essay

  • 1. Yes and No in Korean Essay Yes and No After coming to America, I have suffered from the improper usage of "yes" and "no." I sometimes confuse an affirmative response with a negative one because the usage of "yes" and "no" in Korean is different from English. For example, if I am asked, "Haven't you had dinner yet?" and I have not had dinner yet, then in Korean I usually say, "Yes, I haven't." But in English, I have to say, "No, I haven't." This different usage of "yes" and "no" in Korean and in English sometimes causes misunderstandings or even estrangements between my American friends and me. Because of my misuse of "yes" and "no," I often find that my friends misunderstand me: They perceive the exact opposite meaning from what I intend to give them. The ... I actually affirmed what I wanted to negate strongly. The different usage of "yes" and "no" also causes estrangement between my friends and me. During the summer of 1989, my close friend was a dorm–mate, Mark. He was in his late twenties and had gotten married about five years ago. One sultry weekend night, he brought his son and daughter into the dorm. Playing with each other, his son and daughter made some noise while they were running up and down. I did not mind the noise since I was just watching T.V. The next morning, I came across Mark and his offspring in the doorway of the dorm. After we both said, "Hello," he introduced his children to me. "Nice to meet you. How old are you?" I asked his son. "He is three years old," Mark replied on behalf of his son and asked me smiling, "Didn't they make noise last night? Didn't it bother you?" Because I did not mind the noise at all, I clearly said "Yes!" How stupid I appeared to be! The mild smile suddenly disappeared from his face, and he said, "I am sorry about that. • 5. Open Ended Questions Perception of fear among female prisoners housed in a maximum–security prison Operational definition of fear– The synonyms of fear is terror or horror. It can also classified as anticipation of some known or unknown danger. This anticipation makes us afraid. Sometimes some special feelings or unpleasant memories are also associated that results in fear. Fear can also be associated with the anticipation of physical and/or mental pain. The female inmates in a prison are in the close confines of a specific area. They are residing with unknown people and in hostile conditions. The prison inmates may or may not be their friends. Female prisoners may face many dangers in the form of sexual assaults, indifference of inmates, psychological and mental pressure along with the pain of separation from their loved ones. Here we can apply the concept of operational fear to the minds of millions of female inmates living in prisons. Their fear from other inmates is not unfounded. Open–ended questions are the questions that have no specific answer. Here the person answering the questions has the liberty to answer the question as he/she feels like. Open–ended questions give us insight about the mindset of the person as well as their experiences. These questions provide a wealth of information about the perceptions of the inmates. They are interactive and interpretative in nature. 1. Three open ended questions– In your opinion, what are the most common forms of exploitation of the female ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Methods Of Using Stratified Sampling Essay Procedure This present study utilized two self–report surveys administered to inmates within state– run prisons in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Virginia. The participating facilities and the inmates were selected utilizing stratified sampling. From the total number of facilities (126), fifty facilities were randomly selected. The facilities were selected by grouping them into different security levels (maximum, medium, and minimum) and were all given a number and selected using a random number generator. Lists of all the inmates were collected from the facilities and 10,000 male inmates were randomly selected to be surveyed. They were selected by grouping the inmates by classification level (general population, protective custody, and segregation). Each of these inmates were given a number and a random number generator was utilized to randomly select participants. Stratified sampling was utilized because it ensures that the researcher collect a more representative sample by using different security level facilities and different custody levels of inmates as a sampling frame. The participants were surveyed twice over a period of one year; the surveys were mailed out to the facilities and were self–administered to the participants. Participants had three weeks to complete and mail the survey back to the research facility using the return envelope provided. The survey response rate was sixty–five percent of those surveyed and included ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Would you go to bed with me tonight?" If you were a male in the study you probably would have thought it was truly a gift from God. But it is simply too good to be true. This isn't surprising because most people are probably thinking why not? It could be fun. However, once the questions became racier the difference between men's and women's responses was highlighted. In the experiment held only six percent of women said yes to a visit to a random man's apartment, when about sixty–nine percent of men were eager to say yes. This also doesn't seem to be a surprise because most guys feel safer going to a random girl's apartment then vice versa. When the third question was asked and casual sex was requested, no women said yes, but about seventy–five percent of men accepted the proposal without second thought. The men who declined the offer all gave an excuse to justify the rejection such as stating they are married or currently is in a relationship. Women, on the contrary, denied the requests with quick responses such as "What is wrong with you?" or "leave me alone." The results show that women become highly grossed out when asked the third question and not one felt the urge to say yes. The results of the experiment are not too shocking because it commonly acknowledged that men have greater sexual desires and demands than that of females. Mullen–RhoadsRBTM7109–2: Develop and Apply a Personal Toolkit To develop a personal toolkit for critiquing research article, critical thinking that imposes intellectual standards will be the fundamental strategy employed (Elder & Paul, 2008; "Public Library," 2013). Critical thinking will be employed to minimize bias from the literature review, which should provide a more solid springboard for the dissertation process. The intellectual standards that will be employed are clarity, accuracy, precision, relevance, depth, and breadth. Critical thinking should result in crucial questions and issues for potential research and the ability to articulate them clearly and accurately (Elder & Paul, 2008; "Public library," 2013). In addition, before initiating a literature review, the focus, type, scope and academic discipline of articles will be determined ("Strategies for Writing," n.d.). Focus will consider the thesis, predicament, or research question that will be researched. Type will determine if the search will highlight theory, methodology, or the kind of study, that is, qualitative or quantitative research. Scope will establish sources that will be considered such a range of research dates. I answered yes to this question. I find it hard to believe that we do not have any sense of free will or ability to make choices ourselves. I do believe that God has a plan for us and that He is an omniscient God, I still believe that God gave us the free will to make our own decisions. • 57. Courtroom Interaction Essay Courtroom interaction consists of interpretive aspects opened to the audience and jury. However, courtroom accounts of events can be judged by common–sense knowledge. In addition, cross– examinations rely on assessing the truth and invalidating the other accounts. It is problematic for jurors due to common sense bases allowing desired influences to effect the verdict. When one is interrogated during courtroom interaction, the turns are either designed to imply blame or justify an action. For instance, a transcript of a 1979 case begins with a pre–allocation in the form of a yes–no question. However, once the witness failed to comply with the turns, the council repeated the question and enforced the yes–no order. To illustrate, a member ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first pair is 'adjacency pairs', which anticipate the answers to be said by their second–pair parts. Together, these two–pair parts are complementary through conditional relevance (Goodwin & Duranti, 622). If the second pair part response were to not be given, it is then interpreted to be not present. This can be simplified to expectations of explicit requests. If a request is made, the premade response is a "yes". When the response is unfavorable, the turn is then modified to restate the preferred answer. In addition, when interrogating a witness, the courtroom uses agreement to format a basis of reasoning for the accusation. (624). For instance, the witness's response to the amount of petrol bombs thrown was "only a couple". This response lessons the severity of the incident. Following the response of how many bombs were dropped, the witness continues to add on to the response; which contained too much information being said. Because too much information was given for a simple question, it displays how the witness felt potentially attacked through that questioning (624). Thus, courtroom questionings are favored to their own benefit, as well as the use of using agreement to form potential guilt. To conclude, courtroom interaction through context in courtroom talk can differ. Interpretation of the audience can be swayed by common sense knowledge, structure of turn–by–turn organization of talk, and general ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 61. Ethical Behavior And The Business Community During the 2008 economic crisis there were a lot of questions about ethical behavior in the business community. The result of the behavior led to questions about how and when the practice of unethical behavior began and if it was related to practices students learned while in business school. Rocky University has commissioned a group to review the data provided from an anonymous survey to find if there is a culture and history of cheating in the school of business. "Business ethics is the study of proper business policies and practices regarding potentially controversial issues" (Investopedia, 2016). This definition is relatable to the ethics in business school studies. The use of non–approved material or assistance can lead to questions about the collection and validity of the results in any student's submissions. How does the two relate, and is there a correlation between cheating in school and unethical behavior in the business community? By understanding more about what is being allowed in the university, it may provide us with insight into when this type of behavior starts and how can the university community can combat it at an introductory level. Rocky University provided a sample of 90 graduating business students with responses to three questions regarding academic improprieties. This report will evaluate the data and provide answers to the following questions, the total of students who are considered cheating, proportion of students that copied off the ... • 63. Teaching A Foreign Language Has Never Been Easy Assignments #3 Morphology/ Syntax Learning a foreign language has never been easy; one reason is the language system of each country varies vastly. Question structuring is one system that requires investigation in order to fully learn the technique of asking questions. Turkish and Polish are two countries that contrast immensely in question formation. This essay will first investigate the question forming system in these two countries in asking yes/ no questions, and other regular questions. Following after is a comparison between the two languages. Polish follows the word order of subject + verb + object (Pimsleur Approach, n.d.). When asking questions, subject is usually replaced by a question word while the verb is changed to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Attaching a Wh–question word at the beginning of the sentence is one other way to form a question. Wh– questions words in Polish include "Co", "kto", "dlaczego", "gdzie" and "jak", which are "where", who", "why", "where" and how" in English. ("Polish Questions", n.d.) Meanwhile, Tukish follows the rule of Subject + Object +Verb (Yıldız, Solak, Görgün & Ehsani, n.d.). Yes/ no questions are formed by adding the suffix,"–mi", at the end of the sentence. Although "–mi" is inserted as a question word, it is considered as a suffix because it has to comply with the vowel harmony rule in regulating the relationship between suffixes and vowels. An example is "bu bir kitap mi?", which means "Is this a book?" in English (Turkish Class, n.d.). As a free morpheme, "–mi" can be modified depending on the occasion. For instance, "–mi" belongs to present tense, while "miydim" is in past tense (Manisa Turkish, 2014). Thus "–mi" is an inflectional affixation that changes form in different contexts. Inserting "değil mi" at the end of the sentence is another way to ask a yes/ no question. "Değil mi", "not" in English, is also an inflectional affixation that adds grammatical information to the question. For other questions types, a question word can be placed on the word/ phrase of the answer to form a question. The following rules can better explain this. First, the answer sentence is ... To what extent do our operating abilities involving memory, still prescribe to our distant ancestral selection pressures? These questions have all been considered, however, the role of adaptive pressures on our memory, have just began to be studied further by memory researchers. Scholars have attempted to study how our current memory processing capabilities could have been tailored to achieve specific outcomes from our instinctual past. This research could be a window into empirical findings that may challenge existing perspectives on retention. Possibly, even help foster creative memory mnemonics that could assist us in our daily lives, where memory is concerned. A level of processing is described as the memory recall of stimuli as a function of the depth of mental processing (McLeod 2007). Levels of processing range from shallow levels to deeper levels of processing. For example, answering the question "Does the word rhyme with cow?" induces a shallow level of processing, whereas answering "How pleasant is the word to you?" induces a deep level of processing. Asking if the word is pleasant or not is considered to invoke a deeper level of processing because it requires the consideration of the meaning of the word and how you think about that word, while asking whether or not the word rhymes with cow is only considering the structure or the word in question. As we have seen throughout this semester, larger sample sizes are beneficial to statistical analyses, as increasing the sample size can increase the power of a hypothesis test, reduce the sampling variability in a sample, and meet the baseline number of collected 'observations' that are needed to perform specific analyses. This is not to say that larger sample sizes are unequivocally better; a truly random, yet representative sample is more important. If one already has a large, randomly collected and representative sample, increasing the sample size will not improve the analysis. Our study focuses on how survey topic ...
