1. Scene 1
Ext, Park,Morning
MARTIN is at theentrance of the parkhe walks down the pathway picking up litter. As he is walking
down the pathway, more of the setting is revealed. Hecontinues picking uplitter until he comes across a
bench which has a worn outjournal. The journal grabs his attention. He picks it up, sits on the bench,
opens the journal andstarts flicking throughpages.
Scene 2
Ext, Park,Morning
MARTIN is engaged by the journal. As he flicks throughpages, flashbacks are presented of thedifferent
situations written on each page. Avoiceover of theowner of the journal is heard narrating each flashback.
First flashback is of SIMON getting kicked outof his house.
VOICE
My life; filled with brutality andhate. Kicked outof home. By mother, she expects to never see me
again.
SIMON is aggressively kicked outof his homeand he is left sitting alone outside a door step looking
isolated and frightened.
Audience arereturned back toMARTIN in the same position reading thejournal on thebench. He is
shocked and flicking throughpages faster. He reads another page which leads toanother flashback.
Scene 3
Ext, Alley way, Afternoon
SIMON is walking down anempty road/ alley way. He is injured and bruised. He is in pain. This is
heightened through his movement as he limps downthe road struggling to walk straight. Return back to
MARTIN he is still flicking throughpages quickly, eager to readmore. The next flashback occurs.
Scene 4
Ext, Post-box, Morning
2. VOICE
Another day, another loss. This has justcome in the mail... I’ve been diagnosed. How am I supposed to
live like this?No job? Nohome? No support? All on my own.
MARTIN is by amailbox. He is reading a letter. The setting is exterior, he is presented as being alone
again and no oneis around him. Returns back to MARTIN. He is still reading. Continues flicking through
pages of journal. A newflashback occurs as MARTIN reads the next page.
Scene 5
Ext, Cemetery, Afternoon
VOICE
Never thoughtitwas possible for someone tobe leftcompletely stranded in such a bigworld with
nothingor anyone toturn to.
SIMON isstanding bya grave. His surroundings are dark and grim. Tearing and miserable. Audience
return back toMARTIN he isstill reading journal.
Scene 6
Ext, Park, Morning
The same setting as the first scene is brought back. MARTIN is on thebench. He puts the journal down to
take everything in. He is inshock about toread final page. He flips the page slowly to intensify the tension
of the final page. The audience don’tsee this flashback a voiceover of SIMONand MARTIN reading
simultaneously is revealed.
VOICE
For so many years I’ve been stabbed byconstant wounds which have never healed. I’ve tried to
overcome my pains butnow thetime has come. I don’twant to beliving in this brutal world anymore…
Audience return toMARTIN heis now also mouthing words simultaneously with SIMONas he reads final
words. He is still quickly flicking through pages; he is panicking as he is looking for more evidence of the
owner of the journal. He finds an address.
3. Scene 7
Ext, Afternoon, Outside house
SIMON isfound by the house with the same address found inthe journal on the wall. He is walking
towards the mainentrance of thehouse. The door is slightly open. He continues walking in thehouse,
looking around. Itlooks bleak and abandoned he starts to feel uncomfortable
MARTIN
Hello?... hello? is anyonehere?
MARTIN enters a dark room. Just as he enters the door slams shut behindhim. Camera cuts straight to
the handof SIMONfrom theoutside of the room locking the door. SIMON walks outthe house with
background noises of other people held captive in the house screaming and banging ondoors.
