3. Julian’s Bio/Background
Julian’s family members are his mom Melissa Perper
Albans. In part 3 Summer, it says on page 122 “You would
be a lot more popular if you didn’t hang out with him so
much. I’m going to be completely honest with you: Julian
likes you. He wants to ask you out. Julian doesn’t like
August, Jack, Reid, Max G, and Max W. Julian likes Miles,
Henry, Amos, Simon, Tristan, Pablo, Nino, Isaiah, Luca,
Jake, Toland, Roman, Ben, Emmanuel, Zeke, Tomaso.
Julian is involved in when they were giving August the
tour, and when Jack punched him in the mouth.
4. Julian is a Major Character
Julian is a major character because throughout the
story he bullies August. An example of this is on page 29
Julian says, “What’s the deal with your face? I mean, were
you in a fire or something?”. He also says on page 154 Julian
gets punched in the mouth from Jack for calling August a
“freak”. In my experience someone calling someone a
“freak” and asking if you were in a fire or something is very
rude. Julian is a big part of this story because he is the bully
of the story and most of the book is about August and half of
the book Julian is bullying August.
5. Julian is a Static Character
Julian is a Static Character. Julian is a static character
because throughout the story he hasn’t changed at all. In
the beginning of the story he was a bully to August and at
the end of the story he still was. At the end of the story Julian
showed no maturity from throughout the year. I would think
that he would change throughout the book with August
around but he didn’t.
6. Julian is a Flat Character
Julian is a Flat Character. Julian is a Flat Character
because the author R.J. Palacio shows no detail about him.
He is also a flat character because he had been in the
background and had been bullying August and Jack Will
the whole entire story
