MARTIN is atthe entranceofthe parkhe walks downthe pathwaypicking uplitter. As he is walking downthe pathway,
more of the setting is revealed.He continues picking uplitter until he comes acrossabenchwhichhasa wornout journal.
Thejournal grabs his attention. Hepicks it up, sits on the bench,opens the journal andstarts flicking through pages.
Scene2
Ext, Park, Morning
MARTIN is engagedby the journal. As heflicks through pages,flashbacks arepresentedofthe different situations
written oneachpage. Avoiceoverof the ownerofthe journal is heardnarratingeachflashback. First flashbackis of
SIMON getting kickedout ofhis house.
VOICE
Monday, 1st
January 2012- My life;filled with brutality andhate. Kickedout ofhome by mother. She doesn’twantto
ever see me again.
SIMON is aggressivelykickedout ofhis home andheis left sitting alone outside adoor steplooking isolatedand
frightened.
Audiencearereturned backto MARTINin the same position readingthe journal onthe bench. Heis shockedand
flicking through pagesfaster. Hereadsanotherpagewhich leadsto anotherflashback.

Ext, Alley way,Afternoon
VOICE
This harsh existence. Livingon the streetis takingits toll on me. I was attackedlast night
SIMON is walking downanempty road/alleyway. He is injured andbruised. He is in pain. This is heightened through
his movement ashe limps down the roadstruggling towalk straight. ReturnbacktoMARTIN he is still flicking through
pagesquickly, eagerto readmore. Thenextflashbackoccurs.

Ext, Post-box, Morning
VOICE
-Another day, another loss. This has justcomein the mail... I’vebeendiagnosed andgivennotice of mydeath.
This life just keepsgetting tougher. Whydon’t I feelshocked?Whydoes this not surpriseme?

2. SIMON is by amailbox. Heis readinga letter. The setting is exterior, he is presentedasbeing aloneagainandnoone is
aroundhim. Returns backto MARTIN. Heis still reading. Continues flicking through pagesof journal. A newflashback
occursas MARTINreadsthe nextpage.

Ext, Cemetery, Afternoon

Never thoughtitwas possible for someone tobe leftcompletely strandedin such abigworldwith nothing or anyone to
turn to. Mum never wantedtosee me again, butit’s even harder when itbecomes areality
SIMON is standing bya grave.His surroundings aredarkandgrim. Tearingandmiserable. Audiencereturn backto
MARTIN heis still readingjournal.

Thesame setting asthe first sceneis brought back. MARTINis onthe bench. Heputs the journal down totake
everything in. Heis in shockaboutto readfinal page.He flips the pageslowly to intensify the tension ofthe final page.
Theaudiencedon’t seethis flashbacka voiceoverof SIMON andMARTINreadingsimultaneously is revealed.
VOICE
I’ve triedtoovercome my pains butnowthe time has come. I don’twanttobe livingin this brutal world anymore…
Audiencereturn toMARTIN he is now alsomouthing words simultaneously with SIMON ashe readsfinal words. Heis
still quickly flicking through pages;he is panicking ashe is looking for more evidenceofthe ownerofthe journal. He
finds anaddress.

Ext, Afternoon, Outside house
MARTIN is found bythe house with the same addresswritten in the journal onthe wall. Heis walking towards the main
entranceofthe house. Thedoor is slightly open. Hecontinues walking in the house, looking around. It looks bleakand
abandonedhe starts to feel uncomfortable
MARTIN
Hello?... hello?is anyone here?

3. MARTIN entersa darkroom. Justas heenters the door slams shutbehind him. Camera cuts straight tothe handof
SIMON from the outside ofthe room locking the door. SIMON walks out the house with backgroundnoises ofother
people heldcaptive in the house screamingandbanging ondoors.
