Persuasive Essay On Health Insurance
It was 2008, and I had just arrived in Michigan from Pakistan. After some months, I noticed that I
was having trouble breathing, but I did not have any health insurance at that time. I went to a doctor
from India, so he could speak my native language, Urdu. He diagnosed that I had an asthma attack.
He gave me some medicine and told me "If you think you are going to die then die, but don't go
hospital without insurance." Expensive medical treatments, general health check–ups and
prescription become more accessible with health insurance plans. A strong physical condition is
very important to be successful in life for everyone, but there are some problems with health
coverage: Insurance is very expensive; it is only available through some jobs, Affordable Care Act
or Medicaid. The increasing cost of health care is causing a burden to people in the United States
and benefits are becoming more limited.
It is not only difficult to get the health insurance, but also to keep it. There is a big problem,
however; not every company has benefits of health insurance. Some big companies and
government–based employment provides health coverage for their employees, which is a reason
many full–time workers are able to get health insurance from their work, but many people work
part–time jobs, which do not offer health insurance. Even people have a Medicaid or Affordable
Care Act plan but they still have to pay the high copays and bills. To achieve a healthy life, people
should have access the

Persuasive Essay On Procrastination
Have you ever postponed something super important because you wanted to have fun on a Friday
night? Convincing yourself "Oh, I'll just get it done tomorrow?" This action of putting off a task
until the next day or a later time is called procrastination. Someone displaying procrastination would
either be delaying their work for another job that they consider more important or distracting
themselves with an activity that is more interesting. Many people believe that only disorganized or
lazy people acquire or pick up this intrusive habit, but I disagree with this misconception. Productive
people, too, occasionally lack the desire to get things done on time. Take for example myself; I have
always struggled with this mannerism and even more...show more content...
The prefrontal cortex is what makes an individual decide to engage in a task. With that in mind,
putting work off makes it easier for the limbic system to dominate and give immediate pleasure
feelings which the brain prefers. In other words, people begin to manipulate this perception and
enjoy the short–term effects because it becomes more satisfying not to complete the task. This
habit can start to control how or when we choose to tend to our responsibilities (Spencer). I
recognize this feeling on a daily basis. For example, there was a day that I decided I was going to
study in the library as I would hopefully be more productive in that setting. However, as soon as I
sat down I began to fiddle with everything I could get my hands on. From obnoxiously twirling my
pencil to watching time–consuming YouTube videos, I wasn 't very productive, and as a result, I
had to cram until two AM for an exam the next day. I had always known thatprocrastination was
satisfying, and now with this new information that confirms that it feeds off of my "good" feelings
based on my body 's anatomy. Moving on, I then researched how to recognize why myself and
others procrastinate in the first place. The first reason people procrastinate is that they "become"
perfectionists. As procrastination becomes a more common act, it can also bring about the action of
perfectionism. Harold Taylor does a fantastic job at identifying perfectionism, along with other
reasons

Persuasive Essay On Alcohol
It is very scary that a known fatal substance is so readily available in today's society. A lot of people
like to relax with a drink of alcohol; however, it can cause many serious problems for others who
start to become dependent on it.
Alcohol is a very addictive substance and therefore can start to play a larger role in people's lives.
Alcohol is used in many different environments, from intense ranging parties, concerts, festivals,
small family get–togethers and even drinking on your own to have a relaxing night after work.
Many see no issues in having a casual beer here and there, although when we look at some of the
stats we can clearly see that alcohol is causing some major issues in our society. Research estimates
a whopping 86 percent of Americans will drink at some point in their lives and 70 percent drink at
least once per year. This shows that alcohol is present in many Americans lives, and thus from that
starting point an addiction can spawn. It only takes one time for someone to gain an addiction to a
substance. Therefore, as it is a legal drug it's very hard to recognize if someone has an addiction
problem. So, why is it important that we stay on the look out for a loved one or friend who may be
suffering from alcoholism?
How bad can it really be?
There are many serious consequences that come with drinking alcohol. We only have one life and
one body, therefore taking care of it is very important. When people say treat your body like a
temple, binge drinking

Persuasive Essay On Social Work
The social work profession and my life experiences have taught me that we all at one point of our
lives have been in the position of asking for help. For some people asking for help may be an
effortless task, but for others, asking for help may involve challenging cultural and family values.
This paper will focus on a period in my life when asking for help signified a huge personal
challenge, as I was taught growing up that I should keep my personal problems to myself and not
involve third parties. I moved to the United States from the Dominican Republic at age 16. I can
certainly state that this has been the most difficult time of my life thus far. Besides going through
physical, social and cultural changes, I was also facing the divorce of my parents. Although I had
been an "A" student in the Dominican Republic, I was doing very poorly in high school as a
result of these combined struggles and the fact that I was still learning the language. After
struggling for several months, I wrote a letter stating all of my problems and that I did not want
to be alive. A week after writing the letter, I decided to give it to my school counselor. I gave it to
her because I didn't want to aggravate or worry my mother and felt that she could do nothing to
help me. I believed the counselor was in a position to actually help me with my problems. At the
point that I decided to give my counselor the letter, I was feeling very anxious, overwhelmed and
stressed, and I did not know what else to do. I felt hopeless about the whole situation; I had been
forced to come to the United States, and when I arrived, I was forced to confront the reality of my
parents' divorce. I couldn't make decisions for myself because I was a minor, so the power was in
my parents' hands, and they weren't doing anything that seemed productive or helpful to me. In
going to my counselor with the letter, I was looking for someone who had the power to help me. In
the exchange with the counselor, she had all the power in our relationship. I felt somewhat
comfortable approaching her because we were both Hispanics and immigrants. The most significant
aspects of my positionality in this context, were my age and my education. My counselor was
educated and

Persuasive Essay : Existence Of God
Persuasive Essay: Existence of God The debate on the existence of a god has been a popular topic
among philosophers. Thomas Aquinas, a famous Italian philosopher, provided a set of arguments
that he believed proved the existence of a god, who brought the world into existence. These
arguments provide a sound reasoning behind the existence of god upon the basis that there are a
series of events and these events are somehow caused into being. Aquinas explains this uncaused
first cause to be god. The first proof he makes in order to prove the existence of God, is in regard
to the motion of the world. Aquinas observes that everything in the world changes and that,
"everything that changes is made to change by something else," (Perry pg. 44). This statement is
often refuted by the view that there may be an infinite chain of change that has been going on
forever. In refutation to this, it can be said that we would not be able to account for the change
/motion that we see in the world if there was an infinite amount of causation. If you trace back the
causes of motion to their causes of motion and so on, you can relate it to looking at a line
segment labeled from A to B. If you did this with the causes of objects you would find an infinite
amount of causes and you would never get to A but you know A exists because there is a line
segment. If there was not a first cause or starting point then we would not be able to account for the
motion that we see around us. Some may make the

Persuasive Essay On Success
Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be
successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but to do that, you must be successful in
meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that
highlights the requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success
is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it changes the world. No matter your race,
religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for
everyone, because only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It"
encourages its audience to think differently about wanting to be successful and how to make it
happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which
include, persuasive, decorative, and informational, also meaning motivational, actionable, and fun
(Morgan, 2016). While watching the football player perform each exercise repeatedly, I witnessed
the effort and dedication he exerted through each set – this commitment resonated with me, as I am
also an athlete who is expected to elicit these qualities. Not only hay, the video serves as
confirmation that success is only attainable for those who want it bad enough and are willing to
work for it. Even the background music playing provoked an internal motivation to be proactive.
By delivering Eric Thomas's speech in his unique hip

Persuasive Essay On Happiness
There is a common misconception on happiness, people have twisted the definition of true happiness
into a material–based feeling. People now find happiness in worldly values such as wealth,
recognition, and success. A person learns to rely on money and success as their source of happiness
rather than looking within for a more permanent solution to their sadness. The answer to a sad life is
not money, recognition or success, when in reality, the answer is to and content with life. Trusting
happiness is present removes any ideas believing "happiness" brought on from economic and
personal success. A person should not have to develop greedy values in order to achieve a strong
sense of happiness. Happiness is freely given, but people are searching for it in the wrong places;
happiness is not a result of financial wellness or success, it is the result of a satisfying view on
existence.
For generations, wealth has signified power and happiness. If a person is wealthy, he or she has
power and therefore as everything; if a person has everything, he or she is ultimately "happy."
Increased wealth supposedly prompts a surge in happiness. Power and financial prosperity blur
worry, caused by troubles, that a person faces by making the troubles seem minute and less
daunting. The troubles are no longer troubling once money and success cover them up. New
purchases and awards help cover up these worries, allowing the person to feel free and "happy" to
enjoy life. Worries, however, do not stay

Persuasive Essay About Alcohol
Alcoholism, What is there to be done about it? In this day and age, when it comes to alcohol
consumption and laws of alcohol use in countries around the world, many people debate about
whether the legal drinking age should be raised, lowered, or stay the same. What about a society
where alcohol would be illegal?? Well, when it comes to the sheer number of deaths that occur
from drunk driving alone, you'd end up agreeing with it. To add to this, addiction is always a risk
to be taken into consideration, because it leads to alcohol poisoning, eventually causing death. All
in all, alcohol is something that is just as addictive as any other drug, and should it be treated as an
illegal drug as well. The following are just some of the many reasons why this should be so.
First off, alcohol addiction and abuse among teenagers today is a bigger problem than ever
before. The root of the problem lies in the fact that the teens are so exposed to the culture of this
day and age, leading them to where they have easy access to alcohol. For example, their parents
may already be alcoholics, and it's merely a few bad decisions later which could cause the child to
have a few drinks and cloud their judgement. This is a big problem because their young bodies have
never encountered anything like alcohol before, so in turn, the body does not know how to process
it, and therefore leads to their downfall. A publication released by the National Institute of
Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse (NIAA) suggests that by age 18, an astounding 60% of US teens
would have had at least one drink. Moreover, according to the NIAA, youth between the ages of 12
and 20 will often binge drink as well.
Secondly, regardless of age, people still tend to make bad decisions that ultimately lead to their
downfalls. As a result, whatever the legal drinking age is, people will still be ignorant and follow
their own ways instead of what is truly beneficial to them. According to Statistics Canada, in 2015,
more than 72,000 incidents of drunk driving were reported by police departments around Canada at
a rate of 201 accidents per 100,000 population. From this information, it can be concluded that
people will still be irresponsible and will abuse their privileges in

Persuasive Essay On STEM Education
Everyone wants what is best for their children, right? If that is true, then schools need to start
preparing their students for the challenges they will meet in college and the skills to overcome them.
This is best done through the presence of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in
middle and high schools. Through Wisconsin schools furthering their focus on STEM with
extracurriculars, students will gain vital skills that are necessary for human progression,
problem–solving and time management skills that can be used in real life, and the students learn
how they can apply what is being taught in the classroom to real obstacles and challenges. It is
clear that STEM is a rapidly growing and advancing field that is needed for our human progression.
There are so many different professions that fall under STEM education and many of them impact
the world every day. According to former PresidentBarack Obama "[Science] is more than a school
subject, or the periodic table, or the properties of waves. It is an approach to the world, a critical
way to understand and explore and engage with the world, and then have the capacity to change that
world" (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Here, former President Obama is talking
about how important science is as more than just a school subject; science can be taken out of
school and used to impact many people and change the world. Some may say that there have been
other fields in history that became very popular but

Persuasive Essay On Suicide Prevention
Why should anyone care about someone's life beyond their own? It seems like common sense.
People should value human life just like they value their own but with the rate of suicide, it's clear
they don't. Suicide is the act or instance of taking one's own life voluntarily (Merriam–Webster, n/a.)
Suicide prevention has not been viewed as something valuable to fund and that's contributing to the
rate of suicide today. People need to care simply because people are dying. People are taking their
own lives because the value place on mental health is not considered as high as the value placed
on physical health. Not many people are ending their own lives because of a broken leg, but
because their mental health is so invasive and painful they can no longer deal with the burden of
living with it. Humanity can move forward in helping the mentally ill by looking at the statistics
and providing active methods to help them. Each year 34,598 people die by suicide. That
balances out to an average of 94 suicides a day. (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) Those are just completed
suicides, where it ends in death. 864,960 suicides are attempted a year. This means that every 38
seconds, one person attempts suicide. (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) People are attempting to end their
lives at an alarming high rate each and every day. Because of this, suicide ranks as the eleventh
leading cause of death across all ages (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) In fact, more people are dying from
suicide than homicide. So each year 34,598 completed suicides take place. In comparison to that,
only 18,361 homicides take place each year (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) Both are absolutely
devastating but only one can possibly be prevented. Homicides tend to be isolated, unpredictable
events with nothing visible leading up to them so there's no method of preventing them. However,
with suicide, occasionally there are warning signs and when noticed, preventive action can take
place. Suicide on college campuses is a growing issue. The rate of suicide of college campuses is
.5 and 7.5 per 100,000 among college students (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) There are more than 1,000
completed suicides per year on college campuses. (Suicide Statistics, n/a) Suicide may only be the

you. "Why are you wasting your time with that class? I never took a psych class but it seems like

Friend: Why are you wasting your time with that class? I never took a psych class but it seems like

Me: You can think what you wish, but the psychology field has many different branches that are
beneficial to society. In psychology, we have learned many different tools that could be used in the
real world.
Friend: Like what?
Me: First, psychology has many different roots and main schools of thought. A few of them are
behaviorism, cognitive, humanistic, and neuroscience.
Friend: Well, how does that make psychology more important than other fields?
Me: The main schools of thought look into many different aspects of the brain, behavior and other
things of that nature. I think that it is very helpful to understand and know how people function,
think, and act, especially because we all have to live together.

Persuasive Speech On Too Much Homework
Everyday I wake up and get ready for yet another gruesome school day. As I do this, I find myself
filled with stress, anxiety, and honestly just a pure hatred, for the massive amount of homework
that is going to pile up as the day drags on. Is that really how it how it should be? I personally feel
that students are being forced under a lot of pressure because of the overwhelming amounts of
homework that is assigned to them. Before you begin with the eyerolls and rebuttals as to why
homework is important to our education, let me just I agree with you! Homework isn't entirely
useless, and it has many great qualities, but the immense amounts tend to be too much for us to bear.

Yes, I understand that sometimes I need more help on certain topics and sometimes students do need
more help with something, but I think that teachers should still have more of a limit to how much
homework they can assign, given the fat that they are only one of the seven other classes we have to
take and that's not including other out–of–school activities and clubs we are taking part in.
Along with homework being too repetitive, it can also be damaging to our physical and mental
health. Fow example, sleep. So many students, not only in my school, are losing a lot of sleep due
to all of the homework, as I said before, that they have to complete after arriving home. For me,
after getting home from a sporting event at midnight, showering, doing chores, probably eating,
doing my homework, and preparing for the next day of school, it is usually sometime around 3
o'clock at night before I actually crawl into bed. That's ridiculous! A Lot like my elders (teacher,
parents, grandparents etc.) are always nagging about us staying up all night scrolling on Instagram or
Twitter and watching Youtube, I think they should also be doing something about the insane
amounts of homework that we have keeping us up all night. My parents don't let me have my phone
in my room at night because they think/know that I will be up all night playing on it, but

Persuasive Speech On Domestic Violence
ONE STEP TOWARDS JUSTICE:
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Right now, right at this very instant, a silent war all across the nation is being waged. A violation of
humanity, a crime that is least prosecuted, and a great threat endangering the lives of thousands of
women and children daily. Of course, I am talking about harsh reality of domestic violence. We live
in a time where domestic violence is kept a taboo subject, a shameful secret that shouldn't be let out.
We know it's happening, and even hear or see the events. But who's taking action?
I can stand here and give you a list of statistics about this issue, but is that all it is? A statistic?
Sadly enough, people look at this endless crime as just a figure or percentage, we're shocked at first
but nothing more. So today, I am taking the first step, a step towards justice, a step to end the
struggle, and a step to save our nation.
And yes, I'm not anyone special, I don't study the topic, nor am I a survivor of domestic violence
myself. But I'm here to tell a story. I'm here to make a change. And I'm here to encourage all of you
to do the same.
I'm going to share an experience I had. Something that I've regretted and hated myself for since,
knowing that help could've been sought earlier. A few years back, I was catching up with a family
member and noticed a faint bruise on her face. Naturally, I asked her what had happened but she
just brushed it off, told me it was nothing but a sport injury. Weeks progressed, and the bruises
became worse and worse, but I stop questioning. To me, she still seemed the happy go–lucky girl I
knew and loved, the only difference were these markings. But let me tell you, sometimes the people
who seem happiest, are actually hurting the most. And this was exactly the case. Flashforward a few
months, and her partner was being trialled and charged under the case of domestic abuse.
Although there were so many signs, my ignorance restrained me from helping her help herself.
Needless to say, I was absolutely disgusted. And to this day, I still can't even begin the fathom how
anyone could possibly put their hands on someone they loved. To purposely harm their significant
other and act like everything is fine. And to the victims who have to live

Persuasive Essay On Drug Addiction
Drug addiction is a complex problem in society today. Addiction is a condition that extremely affects
the person's mind and body. Addiction also has wide sweeping effects on that person's social
connection and functioning. Unfortunately, many addicts don't realize the social influence of their
addiction until much of their functioning has greatly deteriorated.
Addiction is a "chronic disease characterized by drug seeking and use that is compulsive, or difficult
to control, despite harmful consequences." The initial decision to take drugs is voluntary for most
individuals, but frequent drug use can lead to brain alterations that challenge an addicted person's
self–control and interfere with their ability to resist intense urges to take drugs. These brain
alterations can be persistent, which is why drug addiction is considered a "relapsing" disease. People
in recovery from drug use disorders are at increased threat for returning to drug use even after years
of not taking the drug. It's common for an individual to relapse, but relapse doesn't mean that
treatment doesn't work. As with other chronic health conditions, treatment should be constant and
should be adjusted based on how the patient answers. Treatment plans need to be reviewed often and
modified to fit the patient's changing desires.
Although it is true that for most people the initial decision to take drugs is voluntary, over time the
changes in the brain caused by frequent drug abuse can impair a person's self–discipline and ability
to make sound judgements, and at the same time create an intense impulse to take drugs. It is
because of these alterations in the brain that it is so puzzling for a person to stop abusing drugs.
Luckily, there are treatments that help people to neutralize addiction's powerful disruptive effects
and regain control of their lives. Study shows that combining addiction treatment medications, when
suitable, with behavioral therapy is the best way to ensure success for most patients. Treatment
approaches that are custom–made to each patient's drug abuse patterns and any concurrent medical,
psychiatric, and social problems can help achieve sustained recovery and a life without drugs. The
alcohol abuse definition is similar

Persuasive Essay On The Art Of Art
Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and
communicate to the world in a way that gives them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's
views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border
this freedom to articulate is detrimental. Art should not be hidden and concealed permanently from
the public eye because some see it as vulgar due to the fact that many people have varying
definitions as to what is crossing the line. Only certain, obvious things can be noted as truly indecent.
Censorship is not an easy subject. As an artist, there is often a lot of tolerance for the obscene,
from appreciation to detail on the human figure or the unique renditions of animalistic
interaction. However, the majority of the public might find the same things that the artists see as
a unique interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more
consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly for a conservative Christian compared
to a liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely
range in their obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If
an image offends very many people, sooner or later someone will invoke the law, and along with
it judges, legislators, policymakers, and the police," quotes Melinda Hinkson in Australia's Bill
Henson scandal: notes on the new cultural attitude to images. Here we have a majority rule, where
an image should only have action dealt upon it if enough people want change. Such censorship is
easy to determine when there are pieces depicting derogatory themes, such as child pornography or
racial notions. But there are multiple cases where there are two sides of the story, and it is not as

A statue named Truth is Beauty by Marco Cochrane has recently been constructed in the city of San
Leandro, here in the bay area. This statue depicts a nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric,
and although you can not vividly see the all of the womans body parts, it is not difficult to know
that she is supposed to be depicted as naked. A completely naked figure,

Persuasive Essay On Climate Change
Climate Change
Not everyone in the world has noticed that the climate has changed throughout the years. The
negativity of climate alternation comes from pollution, weather, and temperature changes, which
will endanger the earth. However, it's possible that some people in the world are willing to help;
people are trying to decrease the chances of climate modification from raising. Even though climate
change is very bad for the earth and toward humans, no one can put an end to this problem due to
several causes which will affect us. Three different outcomes that surround the topic climate change
comes from our human activities, environment changes, and human health issues. These are the
reasons why it causes climate changes to create negative effects on the earth.
Greenhouse gases are the reason why climate change has affected the environment for many years.
Changes that can happen in the environment could be how cold is the temperature today, how much
sunlight is being produced during the day or is there enough clean water. The environment gets
affected when "the atmosphere traps the heat radiate into the Earth toward space" (NASA 1). When
that happens the environment will change the "impacts on human systems which involve food
production, local livelihoods, and health" issues (Environment and Climate Change Canada).
Different type of effects that can happen to the earth could be "sea levels, droughts, floods and
other extreme weathers, climate change ecosystem and extinction threats" (Greenpeace
International 1). Other living things such as insect, bird, or plant will be extinct or will move to
different places in the world and this will affect human health issues (National Geographic 1).
These issues will cause trouble to the earth's environment, and it's not possible to know when the
problems will turn more worst. Ice melting from the Arctic has increased, due to climate change and
it will harm the polar bears, seals, and penguins (National Geographic 1). My grandmother has
grown vegetables in her backyard, and as the climate changes, this affects the growing process of the
food. In the summer when I go outside the temperature has increased from the radiated of the sun
shining towards me.

Persuasive Essay On Working Out
Since humans have been created millions of years ago, we were made to be active, go out hunt
and gather materials to survive. Now we just sit down on desks and type bunch of 0's and 1's.
Although, We are still built to be active and the main way to do that today is by working out and
burn our bodies at the gym. Working out is not just about getting six–pack abs or having huge biceps
and chest, Working out is about changing your lifestyle and make sure you live healthy long life
with no diseases that would make you hate yourself when you are older. Exercising is how you feel
young forever. We keep getting older and we are older than we were one–second ago, but that does
not mean, We cannot have control over our life and be young in heart and be healthy as we are
when we are young. Nowadays people just sit down, order everything online and try to not move as
much as possible, or that how I was until my freshman year at Arizona State University. I was not
active at all and had self–esteem issues and weighted 220 pounds, and my major is computer
science (CS) which mean, I get to sit down for hours typing codes and study for all different sorts
of hard classes and that increased my anxiety and stress. Then, I started working out and my life
changed, I lost 60 pounds, felt happy about myself and how I look, all the stress I had from
classes which anyone who takes calculus, computer classes know how hard they can be, it just
decreased and I could feel like everything is going to be fine at the end, just have to try harder and
that is it. In an article by dozen of PHD scientist in metabolism and fields related to that, they said,
"There is strong evidence that physical activity is a key factor in maintaining a healthy body
weight and reducing the risk of many health problems, including hypertension, cardiovascular
Figure 1 facts about not being active disease, osteoporosis, and type 2 diabetes"(Van Domelen,
2011). This is saying that being physically active is a way to maintain your health and try to
prevent so many diseases that are listed above. Being active and going to the gym has a lot of
good effects on the daily life and as shown in (Figure 1) above, not working out results in at least
300,000 death

  • 1. Persuasive Essay On Health Insurance It was 2008, and I had just arrived in Michigan from Pakistan. After some months, I noticed that I was having trouble breathing, but I did not have any health insurance at that time. I went to a doctor from India, so he could speak my native language, Urdu. He diagnosed that I had an asthma attack. He gave me some medicine and told me "If you think you are going to die then die, but don't go hospital without insurance." Expensive medical treatments, general health check–ups and prescription become more accessible with health insurance plans. A strong physical condition is very important to be successful in life for everyone, but there are some problems with health coverage: Insurance is very expensive; it is only available through some jobs, Affordable Care Act or Medicaid. The increasing cost of health care is causing a burden to people in the United States and benefits are becoming more limited. It is not only difficult to get the health insurance, but also to keep it. There is a big problem, however; not every company has benefits of health insurance. Some big companies and government–based employment provides health coverage for their employees, which is a reason many full–time workers are able to get health insurance from their work, but many people work part–time jobs, which do not offer health insurance. Even people have a Medicaid or Affordable Care Act plan but they still have to pay the high copays and bills. To achieve a healthy life, people should have access the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Procrastination Have you ever postponed something super important because you wanted to have fun on a Friday night? Convincing yourself "Oh, I'll just get it done tomorrow?" This action of putting off a task until the next day or a later time is called procrastination. Someone displaying procrastination would either be delaying their work for another job that they consider more important or distracting themselves with an activity that is more interesting. Many people believe that only disorganized or lazy people acquire or pick up this intrusive habit, but I disagree with this misconception. Productive people, too, occasionally lack the desire to get things done on time. Take for example myself; I have always struggled with this mannerism and even more...show more content... The prefrontal cortex is what makes an individual decide to engage in a task. With that in mind, putting work off makes it easier for the limbic system to dominate and give immediate pleasure feelings which the brain prefers. In other words, people begin to manipulate this perception and enjoy the short–term effects because it becomes more satisfying not to complete the task. This habit can start to control how or when we choose to tend to our responsibilities (Spencer). I recognize this feeling on a daily basis. For example, there was a day that I decided I was going to study in the library as I would hopefully be more productive in that setting. However, as soon as I sat down I began to fiddle with everything I could get my hands on. From obnoxiously twirling my pencil to watching time–consuming YouTube videos, I wasn 't very productive, and as a result, I had to cram until two AM for an exam the next day. I had always known thatprocrastination was satisfying, and now with this new information that confirms that it feeds off of my "good" feelings based on my body 's anatomy. Moving on, I then researched how to recognize why myself and others procrastinate in the first place. The first reason people procrastinate is that they "become" perfectionists. As procrastination becomes a more common act, it can also bring about the action of perfectionism. Harold Taylor does a fantastic job at identifying perfectionism, along with other reasons Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Alcohol It is very scary that a known fatal substance is so readily available in today's society. A lot of people like to relax with a drink of alcohol; however, it can cause many serious problems for others who start to become dependent on it. Alcohol is a very addictive substance and therefore can start to play a larger role in people's lives. Alcohol is used in many different environments, from intense ranging parties, concerts, festivals, small family get–togethers and even drinking on your own to have a relaxing night after work. Many see no issues in having a casual beer here and there, although when we look at some of the stats we can clearly see that alcohol is causing some major issues in our society. Research estimates a whopping 86 percent of Americans will drink at some point in their lives and 70 percent drink at least once per year. This shows that alcohol is present in many Americans lives, and thus from that starting point an addiction can spawn. It only takes one time for someone to gain an addiction to a substance. Therefore, as it is a legal drug it's very hard to recognize if someone has an addiction problem. So, why is it important that we stay on the look out for a loved one or friend who may be suffering from alcoholism? How bad can it really be? There are many serious consequences that come with drinking alcohol. We only have one life and one body, therefore taking care of it is very important. When people say treat your body like a temple, binge drinking Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Essay On Social Work The social work profession and my life experiences have taught me that we all at one point of our lives have been in the position of asking for help. For some people asking for help may be an effortless task, but for others, asking for help may involve challenging cultural and family values. This paper will focus on a period in my life when asking for help signified a huge personal challenge, as I was taught growing up that I should keep my personal problems to myself and not involve third parties. I moved to the United States from the Dominican Republic at age 16. I can certainly state that this has been the most difficult time of my life thus far. Besides going through physical, social and cultural changes, I was also facing the divorce of my parents. Although I had been an "A" student in the Dominican Republic, I was doing very poorly in high school as a result of these combined struggles and the fact that I was still learning the language. After struggling for several months, I wrote a letter stating all of my problems and that I did not want to be alive. A week after writing the letter, I decided to give it to my school counselor. I gave it to her because I didn't want to aggravate or worry my mother and felt that she could do nothing to help me. I believed the counselor was in a position to actually help me with my problems. At the point that I decided to give my counselor the letter, I was feeling very anxious, overwhelmed and stressed, and I did not know what else to do. I felt hopeless about the whole situation; I had been forced to come to the United States, and when I arrived, I was forced to confront the reality of my parents' divorce. I couldn't make decisions for myself because I was a minor, so the power was in my parents' hands, and they weren't doing anything that seemed productive or helpful to me. In going to my counselor with the letter, I was looking for someone who had the power to help me. In the exchange with the counselor, she had all the power in our relationship. I felt somewhat comfortable approaching her because we were both Hispanics and immigrants. The most significant aspects of my positionality in this context, were my age and my education. My counselor was educated and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Persuasive Essay : Existence Of God Persuasive Essay: Existence of God The debate on the existence of a god has been a popular topic among philosophers. Thomas Aquinas, a famous Italian philosopher, provided a set of arguments that he believed proved the existence of a god, who brought the world into existence. These arguments provide a sound reasoning behind the existence of god upon the basis that there are a series of events and these events are somehow caused into being. Aquinas explains this uncaused first cause to be god. The first proof he makes in order to prove the existence of God, is in regard to the motion of the world. Aquinas observes that everything in the world changes and that, "everything that changes is made to change by something else," (Perry pg. 44). This statement is often refuted by the view that there may be an infinite chain of change that has been going on forever. In refutation to this, it can be said that we would not be able to account for the change /motion that we see in the world if there was an infinite amount of causation. If you trace back the causes of motion to their causes of motion and so on, you can relate it to looking at a line segment labeled from A to B. If you did this with the causes of objects you would find an infinite amount of causes and you would never get to A but you know A exists because there is a line segment. If there was not a first cause or starting point then we would not be able to account for the motion that we see around us. Some may make the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Essay On Success Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but to do that, you must be successful in meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that highlights the requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it changes the world. No matter your race, religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for everyone, because only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It" encourages its audience to think differently about wanting to be successful and how to make it happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which include, persuasive, decorative, and informational, also meaning motivational, actionable, and fun (Morgan, 2016). While watching the football player perform each exercise repeatedly, I witnessed the effort and dedication he exerted through each set – this commitment resonated with me, as I am also an athlete who is expected to elicit these qualities. Not only hay, the video serves as confirmation that success is only attainable for those who want it bad enough and are willing to work for it. Even the background music playing provoked an internal motivation to be proactive. By delivering Eric Thomas's speech in his unique hip Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 8. Persuasive Essay On Happiness There is a common misconception on happiness, people have twisted the definition of true happiness into a material–based feeling. People now find happiness in worldly values such as wealth, recognition, and success. A person learns to rely on money and success as their source of happiness rather than looking within for a more permanent solution to their sadness. The answer to a sad life is not money, recognition or success, when in reality, the answer is to and content with life. Trusting happiness is present removes any ideas believing "happiness" brought on from economic and personal success. A person should not have to develop greedy values in order to achieve a strong sense of happiness. Happiness is freely given, but people are searching for it in the wrong places; happiness is not a result of financial wellness or success, it is the result of a satisfying view on existence. For generations, wealth has signified power and happiness. If a person is wealthy, he or she has power and therefore as everything; if a person has everything, he or she is ultimately "happy." Increased wealth supposedly prompts a surge in happiness. Power and financial prosperity blur worry, caused by troubles, that a person faces by making the troubles seem minute and less daunting. The troubles are no longer troubling once money and success cover them up. New purchases and awards help cover up these worries, allowing the person to feel free and "happy" to enjoy life. Worries, however, do not stay Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Persuasive Essay About Alcohol Alcoholism, What is there to be done about it? In this day and age, when it comes to alcohol consumption and laws of alcohol use in countries around the world, many people debate about whether the legal drinking age should be raised, lowered, or stay the same. What about a society where alcohol would be illegal?? Well, when it comes to the sheer number of deaths that occur from drunk driving alone, you'd end up agreeing with it. To add to this, addiction is always a risk to be taken into consideration, because it leads to alcohol poisoning, eventually causing death. All in all, alcohol is something that is just as addictive as any other drug, and should it be treated as an illegal drug as well. The following are just some of the many reasons why this should be so. First off, alcohol addiction and abuse among teenagers today is a bigger problem than ever before. The root of the problem lies in the fact that the teens are so exposed to the culture of this day and age, leading them to where they have easy access to alcohol. For example, their parents may already be alcoholics, and it's merely a few bad decisions later which could cause the child to have a few drinks and cloud their judgement. This is a big problem because their young bodies have never encountered anything like alcohol before, so in turn, the body does not know how to process it, and therefore leads to their downfall. A publication released by the National Institute of Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse (NIAA) suggests that by age 18, an astounding 60% of US teens would have had at least one drink. Moreover, according to the NIAA, youth between the ages of 12 and 20 will often binge drink as well. Secondly, regardless of age, people still tend to make bad decisions that ultimately lead to their downfalls. As a result, whatever the legal drinking age is, people will still be ignorant and follow their own ways instead of what is truly beneficial to them. According to Statistics Canada, in 2015, more than 72,000 incidents of drunk driving were reported by police departments around Canada at a rate of 201 accidents per 100,000 population. From this information, it can be concluded that people will still be irresponsible and will abuse their privileges in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Persuasive Essay On STEM Education Everyone wants what is best for their children, right? If that is true, then schools need to start preparing their students for the challenges they will meet in college and the skills to overcome them. This is best done through the presence of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in middle and high schools. Through Wisconsin schools furthering their focus on STEM with extracurriculars, students will gain vital skills that are necessary for human progression, problem–solving and time management skills that can be used in real life, and the students learn how they can apply what is being taught in the classroom to real obstacles and challenges. It is clear that STEM is a rapidly growing and advancing field that is needed for our human progression. There are so many different professions that fall under STEM education and many of them impact the world every day. According to former PresidentBarack Obama "[Science] is more than a school subject, or the periodic table, or the properties of waves. It is an approach to the world, a critical way to understand and explore and engage with the world, and then have the capacity to change that world" (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Here, former President Obama is talking about how important science is as more than just a school subject; science can be taken out of school and used to impact many people and change the world. Some may say that there have been other fields in history that became very popular but Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Persuasive Essay About Tourism In the purpose of relaxing yourself and broadening horizon, why not go to travel on vacation? • 12. Persuasive Essay On Suicide Prevention Why should anyone care about someone's life beyond their own? It seems like common sense. People should value human life just like they value their own but with the rate of suicide, it's clear they don't. Suicide is the act or instance of taking one's own life voluntarily (Merriam–Webster, n/a.) Suicide prevention has not been viewed as something valuable to fund and that's contributing to the rate of suicide today. People need to care simply because people are dying. People are taking their own lives because the value place on mental health is not considered as high as the value placed on physical health. Not many people are ending their own lives because of a broken leg, but because their mental health is so invasive and painful they can no longer deal with the burden of living with it. Humanity can move forward in helping the mentally ill by looking at the statistics and providing active methods to help them. Each year 34,598 people die by suicide. That balances out to an average of 94 suicides a day. (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) Those are just completed suicides, where it ends in death. 864,960 suicides are attempted a year. This means that every 38 seconds, one person attempts suicide. (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) People are attempting to end their lives at an alarming high rate each and every day. Because of this, suicide ranks as the eleventh leading cause of death across all ages (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) In fact, more people are dying from suicide than homicide. So each year 34,598 completed suicides take place. In comparison to that, only 18,361 homicides take place each year (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) Both are absolutely devastating but only one can possibly be prevented. Homicides tend to be isolated, unpredictable events with nothing visible leading up to them so there's no method of preventing them. However, with suicide, occasionally there are warning signs and when noticed, preventive action can take place. Suicide on college campuses is a growing issue. The rate of suicide of college campuses is .5 and 7.5 per 100,000 among college students (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) There are more than 1,000 completed suicides per year on college campuses. (Suicide Statistics, n/a) Suicide may only be the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Persuasive Essay About Psychology Imagine that a friend of yours heard that you were taking a psychology class. Your friend asks you. "Why are you wasting your time with that class? I never took a psych class but it seems like a waste of time. It seems like other fields are more important." Write a short dialogue where you either agree or disagree with your friend about the importance of psychology. In your dialogue, include at least two pieces of evidence that support your argument. Friend: I heard you are taking a psychology class. Me: Yeah! Why? Friend: Why are you wasting your time with that class? I never took a psych class but it seems like a waste of time. It seems like other fields are more important. Me: You can think what you wish, but the psychology field has many different branches that are beneficial to society. In psychology, we have learned many different tools that could be used in the real world. Friend: Like what? Me: First, psychology has many different roots and main schools of thought. A few of them are behaviorism, cognitive, humanistic, and neuroscience. Friend: Well, how does that make psychology more important than other fields? Me: The main schools of thought look into many different aspects of the brain, behavior and other things of that nature. I think that it is very helpful to understand and know how people function, think, and act, especially because we all have to live together. Friend: Okay. • 15. Persuasive Speech On Too Much Homework Everyday I wake up and get ready for yet another gruesome school day. As I do this, I find myself filled with stress, anxiety, and honestly just a pure hatred, for the massive amount of homework that is going to pile up as the day drags on. Is that really how it how it should be? I personally feel that students are being forced under a lot of pressure because of the overwhelming amounts of homework that is assigned to them. Before you begin with the eyerolls and rebuttals as to why homework is important to our education, let me just I agree with you! Homework isn't entirely useless, and it has many great qualities, but the immense amounts tend to be too much for us to bear. Too much homework can really be a problem for students, some have...show more content... Yes, I understand that sometimes I need more help on certain topics and sometimes students do need more help with something, but I think that teachers should still have more of a limit to how much homework they can assign, given the fat that they are only one of the seven other classes we have to take and that's not including other out–of–school activities and clubs we are taking part in. Along with homework being too repetitive, it can also be damaging to our physical and mental health. Fow example, sleep. So many students, not only in my school, are losing a lot of sleep due to all of the homework, as I said before, that they have to complete after arriving home. For me, after getting home from a sporting event at midnight, showering, doing chores, probably eating, doing my homework, and preparing for the next day of school, it is usually sometime around 3 o'clock at night before I actually crawl into bed. That's ridiculous! A Lot like my elders (teacher, parents, grandparents etc.) are always nagging about us staying up all night scrolling on Instagram or Twitter and watching Youtube, I think they should also be doing something about the insane amounts of homework that we have keeping us up all night. My parents don't let me have my phone in my room at night because they think/know that I will be up all night playing on it, but Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Persuasive Speech On Domestic Violence ONE STEP TOWARDS JUSTICE: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Right now, right at this very instant, a silent war all across the nation is being waged. A violation of humanity, a crime that is least prosecuted, and a great threat endangering the lives of thousands of women and children daily. Of course, I am talking about harsh reality of domestic violence. We live in a time where domestic violence is kept a taboo subject, a shameful secret that shouldn't be let out. We know it's happening, and even hear or see the events. But who's taking action? I can stand here and give you a list of statistics about this issue, but is that all it is? A statistic? Sadly enough, people look at this endless crime as just a figure or percentage, we're shocked at first but nothing more. So today, I am taking the first step, a step towards justice, a step to end the struggle, and a step to save our nation. And yes, I'm not anyone special, I don't study the topic, nor am I a survivor of domestic violence myself. But I'm here to tell a story. I'm here to make a change. And I'm here to encourage all of you to do the same. I'm going to share an experience I had. Something that I've regretted and hated myself for since, knowing that help could've been sought earlier. A few years back, I was catching up with a family member and noticed a faint bruise on her face. Naturally, I asked her what had happened but she just brushed it off, told me it was nothing but a sport injury. Weeks progressed, and the bruises became worse and worse, but I stop questioning. To me, she still seemed the happy go–lucky girl I knew and loved, the only difference were these markings. But let me tell you, sometimes the people who seem happiest, are actually hurting the most. And this was exactly the case. Flashforward a few months, and her partner was being trialled and charged under the case of domestic abuse. Although there were so many signs, my ignorance restrained me from helping her help herself. Needless to say, I was absolutely disgusted. And to this day, I still can't even begin the fathom how anyone could possibly put their hands on someone they loved. To purposely harm their significant other and act like everything is fine. And to the victims who have to live Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Persuasive Essay On Drug Addiction Drug addiction is a complex problem in society today. Addiction is a condition that extremely affects the person's mind and body. Addiction also has wide sweeping effects on that person's social connection and functioning. Unfortunately, many addicts don't realize the social influence of their addiction until much of their functioning has greatly deteriorated. Addiction is a "chronic disease characterized by drug seeking and use that is compulsive, or difficult to control, despite harmful consequences." The initial decision to take drugs is voluntary for most individuals, but frequent drug use can lead to brain alterations that challenge an addicted person's self–control and interfere with their ability to resist intense urges to take drugs. These brain alterations can be persistent, which is why drug addiction is considered a "relapsing" disease. People in recovery from drug use disorders are at increased threat for returning to drug use even after years of not taking the drug. It's common for an individual to relapse, but relapse doesn't mean that treatment doesn't work. As with other chronic health conditions, treatment should be constant and should be adjusted based on how the patient answers. Treatment plans need to be reviewed often and modified to fit the patient's changing desires. Although it is true that for most people the initial decision to take drugs is voluntary, over time the changes in the brain caused by frequent drug abuse can impair a person's self–discipline and ability to make sound judgements, and at the same time create an intense impulse to take drugs. It is because of these alterations in the brain that it is so puzzling for a person to stop abusing drugs. Luckily, there are treatments that help people to neutralize addiction's powerful disruptive effects and regain control of their lives. Study shows that combining addiction treatment medications, when suitable, with behavioral therapy is the best way to ensure success for most patients. Treatment approaches that are custom–made to each patient's drug abuse patterns and any concurrent medical, psychiatric, and social problems can help achieve sustained recovery and a life without drugs. • 18. Persuasive Essay On The Art Of Art Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and communicate to the world in a way that gives them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border this freedom to articulate is detrimental. Art should not be hidden and concealed permanently from the public eye because some see it as vulgar due to the fact that many people have varying definitions as to what is crossing the line. Only certain, obvious things can be noted as truly indecent. Censorship is not an easy subject. As an artist, there is often a lot of tolerance for the obscene, from appreciation to detail on the human figure or the unique renditions of animalistic interaction. However, the majority of the public might find the same things that the artists see as a unique interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly for a conservative Christian compared to a liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely range in their obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If an image offends very many people, sooner or later someone will invoke the law, and along with it judges, legislators, policymakers, and the police," quotes Melinda Hinkson in Australia's Bill Henson scandal: notes on the new cultural attitude to images. Here we have a majority rule, where an image should only have action dealt upon it if enough people want change. Such censorship is easy to determine when there are pieces depicting derogatory themes, such as child pornography or racial notions. But there are multiple cases where there are two sides of the story, and it is not as simple. A statue named Truth is Beauty by Marco Cochrane has recently been constructed in the city of San Leandro, here in the bay area. This statue depicts a nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric, and although you can not vividly see the all of the womans body parts, it is not difficult to know that she is supposed to be depicted as naked. A completely naked figure, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Persuasive Essay On Climate Change Climate Change Not everyone in the world has noticed that the climate has changed throughout the years. The negativity of climate alternation comes from pollution, weather, and temperature changes, which will endanger the earth. However, it's possible that some people in the world are willing to help; people are trying to decrease the chances of climate modification from raising. Even though climate change is very bad for the earth and toward humans, no one can put an end to this problem due to several causes which will affect us. Three different outcomes that surround the topic climate change comes from our human activities, environment changes, and human health issues. These are the reasons why it causes climate changes to create negative effects on the earth. Greenhouse gases are the reason why climate change has affected the environment for many years. Changes that can happen in the environment could be how cold is the temperature today, how much sunlight is being produced during the day or is there enough clean water. The environment gets affected when "the atmosphere traps the heat radiate into the Earth toward space" (NASA 1). When that happens the environment will change the "impacts on human systems which involve food production, local livelihoods, and health" issues (Environment and Climate Change Canada). Different type of effects that can happen to the earth could be "sea levels, droughts, floods and other extreme weathers, climate change ecosystem and extinction threats" (Greenpeace International 1). Other living things such as insect, bird, or plant will be extinct or will move to different places in the world and this will affect human health issues (National Geographic 1). These issues will cause trouble to the earth's environment, and it's not possible to know when the problems will turn more worst. Ice melting from the Arctic has increased, due to climate change and it will harm the polar bears, seals, and penguins (National Geographic 1). My grandmother has grown vegetables in her backyard, and as the climate changes, this affects the growing process of the food. In the summer when I go outside the temperature has increased from the radiated of the sun shining towards me. Human activities Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Now we just sit down on desks and type bunch of 0's and 1's. Although, We are still built to be active and the main way to do that today is by working out and burn our bodies at the gym. Nowadays people just sit down, order everything online and try to not move as much as possible, or that how I was until my freshman year at Arizona State University. I was not active at all and had self–esteem issues and weighted 220 pounds, and my major is computer science (CS) which mean, I get to sit down for hours typing codes and study for all different sorts of hard classes and that increased my anxiety and stress. Then, I started working out and my life changed, I lost 60 pounds, felt happy about myself and how I look, all the stress I had from classes which anyone who takes calculus, computer classes know how hard they can be, it just decreased and I could feel like everything is going to be fine at the end, just have to try harder and that is it. In an article by dozen of PHD scientist in metabolism and fields related to that, they said, "There is strong evidence that physical activity is a key factor in maintaining a healthy body weight and reducing the risk of many health problems, including hypertension, cardiovascular Figure 1 facts about not being active disease, osteoporosis, and type 2 diabetes"(Van Domelen, 2011). This is saying that being physically active is a way to maintain your health and try to prevent so many diseases that are listed above.
