1. “Speech Acts”

2. Speech Act
is something expressed by an individual
that not only presents information, but
performs an action as well.
Example
the phrase "I would like the kimchi, could you
please pass it to me?" is considered a speech
act as it expresses the speaker's desire to
acquire the kimchi, as well as presenting a
request that someone pass the kimchi to them.

3. Kinds of speech act
Locutionary ActIllocutionary Act
Perlocutionary Act

4. the actual utterance and its apparent
meaning, comprising any and all of its
verbal, social, and rhetorical meanings, all
of which correspond to the verbal,
syntactic and semantic aspects of any
meaningful utterance.

5. Illocutionary
is central to the concept of a speech
act. Although there are several
scholarly opinions regarding how to
define 'illocutionary acts', there are
some kinds of acts which are widely
accepted as illocutionary.

6. Types of
Illocutionary
Derectives : A type of illocutionary act in
which the speaker tries to make the
addressee perform an action.Some
example of a directive act are asking,
ordering, requesting, inviting,
advising,and begging.
Example: Please open the door.
Expressive : The speaker expresses
his/her feelings or emotional
reactions.Some examples of an
expressive act are thanking.
Example : I’m so sorry for not helping
you.

7. Commissive : The speaker to doing something in
the future. Examples of a commissive act are
promising, planning, vowing, and betting.
Example: From now on , i will participate in our
group activity.

8. Assertives : The speaker expresses belief
about the truth of a proposition. Some
examples of an assertives act are suggesting,
putting, foward, swearing, boastingand
concluding.
Example : No one makes better pancakes
then i do.
Declaratives : Which brings a change in
the external situation. Some examples
of the delacrations are blessing, firing,
baptizing, and excomunicating.
Example : you are tired.

9. Perlucationary Acts
The actual effect of the locutionary and
illocutionary acts, such as persuading, convincing,
scaring, enlightening, inspiring, or otherwise getting
someone to do or realize something, whether
intended or not.

10. Examples
Examples of perlocutionary acts include
persuading, convincing, scaring,
enlightening, inspiring, or otherwise
affecting the hearer.
