2. Friedrich Hundertwasser was born in 1928 in Vienna.
He died in 2000 on his way from New Zealand to Europe on
board the Queen Elizabeth 2.
Hundertwasser was a Painter, architect, ecologist and
visionary.
Hundertwasser once said, “ Beauty is Panacea”.
Which means a remedy for all diseases, evils, or difficulties.
Hundertwasser noted that there
are no straight lines in nature and
many of his paintings depicted
spirals which he saw everywhere.
List 3 things in nature which have
spirals.

3. Lollipop Trees
Hundertwasser often depicted trees like
lollipops.
Design a picture of trees in the style of
Hundertwasser in the box below.
4. For Hundertwasser man has
three skins.
Skin 1 The natural epidermis (skin) Skin 2 Clothes Skin 3 House
The First Skin.
The body keeps everything together and is the part which
everybody can see.
All living creatures have a skin.
The skin is suitable for the creature depending on how and where
it lives.
Look at the pictures below. What type of skin does each have and
why is it suitable?

5. The Second Skin.
Our Clothes.
Hundertwasser did not like how people all dressed the
same . How fashion dictated what people wore and felt
that each person should dress with an individual style.
To improve my work today I
could?
Use your imagination. Put out of your mind todays fashion trends
and design a new
wardrobe for yourself.
Think about colours shapes and patterns that you like. Will you mix
and match, bright or subdued.
6. The Third skin.
Your Home
Hundertwasser considered the third skin to be our homes. The
outer covering of our private living space.
He hated the straight lines and conformity of buildings and
thought that the outside of our houses should represent the
people living inside them.
Cure this sick block of flats.
Look at the shapes patterns and colours of Hundertwassers
buildings. Can you show nature in the building too? Draw and
colour on top of the building.
7. Window
Right
People cannot all afford to build their own
houses to their own specification. Or change
a block of flats. Hundertwasser thought it was
important though to show that unique people
lived behind every window of a property, and
demanded that everyone should have the
right to design the area around their window
themselves.
Design your own window. Paint it, grow
flowers, put a frame around it , mosaic it,
put chains on it, give it a hat and so on…..
8. Evaluation
