Using A Mixed Methods Approach
Methodology
Research Design In this proposed study, the researcher will use a mixed methods approach (Jack,
Norman & Helen, 2012). Jack, Norman & Helen define a mixed method as a procedure for both
quantitative and qualitative data at some stage of the research process, to understand a research
problem more completely (Jack, Norman & Helen, 2012). Jack, Norman & Helen (2012) define
qualitative research as "research studies that investigate the quality of relationships, activities,
situations, or materials" (p. 426). In a qualitative research, people use more explanatory data, and
data are collected in the form of words and description rather than numbers and statistics. A
qualitative research is a method of analyzing, and interpreting data by observing what people do and
say (Jack, Norman & Helen, 2012). In contrast to qualitative researches, a quantitative research is a
formal, objective, systematic process in which numerical data are used to obtain information about
the world (Burns & Grove, 2005). Data of the quantitative research is in numerical form such as
statistics, and percentages. The goal for mixed method is that the quantitative data and results
provide a general picture of the research problem, while the qualitative data and its analysis will
refine and explain those statistical results by exploring participants' views in more depth. For
example, in the current study researcher collects questionnaires for students to get data. And then the

Research On B2b International Research Firm
In week seven of our Research Methods course we were asked to identify two research firms and
essentially do a compare and contrast on them. After listening to the lecture and doing a little
review, I identified two main research corporations that interested me enough to do further research.
This week my scholarly activity will be written on B2B International Research firm and EFG
Worldwide Research firm. The two firms are very unique in the way they collect data using a variety
of different tools, however they also acknowledge that research cannot be specified down to one
method and may require multiple methods. As we begin to look into the varying tools that each
company uses, I will also discuss the effectiveness of those tools.
Beginning with the European Fieldwork Group or EFG Worldwide, they are strategically set up to
provide businesses with a one–stop–shop experience which is assisted by the local presence within
multiple states. (EFG WORLDWIDE. (2015)) With the speed of communication, the financial
market and commerce this is an extremely important benefit to business companies looking for
assistance. The EFG Worldwide states that they offer the following tools to consumers; quantitative
fieldwork to include telephone, face–to–face, online research and mystery shopping. The company
also has an expanded qualitative fieldwork group that consists of focus groups, in–depth interviews
and even ethnological studies. While EFG tries to help both industry and small

Internet Communication as a Tool for Qualitative Research Research Problem and Method Paper
Abstract:
While calloborating on the research community, the World Wide Web has opened a different
perspective and provides access for data collection. The Internet user can now engage in research on
a world–wide, " low cost, almost instantaneous scale – and in ways which potentially overcome
some of the barriers imposed by more conventional research approaches." However, this idealistic
view some what obscures both methodological and ethical difficulties ... Show more content on

The Internet may also provide social spaces and this consist of relationships, communities, and

could happen delayed time sequences or real time. There is a long tradition of social interaction and
community development based on the capabilities of the Internet. On the other hand, while speaking
of short terms, the Internet can be perceived as a set of technological tools, a complex network of
social relations, a language system, a cultural milieu, and so forth. Quote, "The way one defines and

Contribution Of An Ethnographic Research On Friendship
Throughout this essay I will be evaluating the contribution of an ethnographic approach to research
on friendship. I will be looking at, and including evidence to support both sides of the argument as
to whether or not this research method is in fact useful when it comes to gaining knowledge about
friendship. As well as evaluating this method, I will compare it against others to reflect on the
strengths, weaknesses and the typical data collected. I will look at some of the questions about
friendship that have been addressed, and then whether this is the best method or if there are others
that could have been more suitable.
Ethnography is a qualitative method of research in which the researcher takes part in the activities of
a group such that they are able to complete their observations over a period of time in a natural,
real–life environment.
When it comes to investigating friendship, one question that has been raised is 'what is the role of
friendship in the life of a 13 year old?''. Several sources of data include ethnographic notes taken
whilst spending time with a group of friends during school lunch breaks and diary/blog entries etc.
Firstly, in this case the researcher would need to carefully consider the strengths and weaknesses of
each type of data, for example, when looking at a blog the information/data available is likely to be
information that the author wants to share with a wider audience whereas a diary entry is more
private. In this case, both documents

Online Research : The Microblogging And Public Sphere
1. Research Topic and Question
The topic of this Online Research is about the Microblogging and Public Sphere. Microblogging is a
new type of online social platform appeared in recent year. An example of such case is Weibo in
China, which was released in October, 2006 and now it is an ideal tool of public communication
among the Chinese netizens (Mou, 2014). Ma (2013) mentioned that, different from the traditional
social networking, such as Facebook, in which users are more likely to link back to their real life.
This means Microblogging makes its users focus more on things they are interested in which might
be less connected to their daily life. Besides, according to a statistics, the proportion of Weibo users
occupied more than 50% of the total internet population (CNNIC, 2013, cited in Mou, 2014).
Therefore, it is worth to discuss the consequences brought by Microblogging for its users to
disseminate the information in public sphere. In this case, one research question can be 'Do people
can improve their political participation through scanning and commenting on Weibo'. This question
aims to explore the effects of Microblogging, especially Weibo, that whether such platform can let
people discuss about politics more freely in order to generate positive influences.
2. Research Method
The method has been chosen for this Online Research is interview bases on online radio/video
software, such as Skype. This is because the research is consists of several open–ended questions.

Project Management: What I Learned
Role and tasks
The main issue that I had to deal with during the project is the near absence of the action plan. The
plan should consists of a number of action/steps that need to be performed in order to reach the
research project's objectives. Due to the absence of an action plan, we wasted time/efforts by either
doing nothing or doing things that are irrelevant. Besides, the research project workload was not
divided between us in a fair manner. This is mainly due to the absence of both a solid project
schedule and a project manager/leader. The role of a project manager should be supporting team
members and assigning tasks to them. As a result I wasn't able to contribute to the project's progress
as it was expected from me.
Regarding my contribution to the project, before everything, I read various papers about Embodied
conversational agents (ECAs) in order to have a clear idea about the subject. Also, I have helped
writing and reviewing deliverables. Generally, my duty throughout the project was supporting and
helping the team in various aspects such as conducting the experiment, writing and reviewing
papers.
Moreover, my activities throughout the research project were: 1. Do online research on ECAs and
education 2. Brainstorm about the topic of research 3. Help writing and reviewing papers (P1–P8) as
well as making presentation slides 4. Work on the experiment's settings such as questionnaire–
online survey 5. Help conducting the experiment at a primary school 6. Help

A Research Study On Data Collection Method
Data Collection Method According to (Swanson, 2005), qualitative research demands a lot from the
researcher, it would also be important for the researcher to acknowledge the words studied in the
analysis are influenced by ourselves. This would be the case since the researcher is using surveys to
conduct the research. The independent variable in the case of this research would be the affordable
housing programs because the researcher wants to determine if there is enough housing and are
there changes. The dependent variable would be the behavioral changes that would take affect if
people were able to successfully gain housing and be able sustain themselves. The results would be
better health, maintaining employment and children doing better in schools.
The researcher has developed the following procedures and methods that will look to gain a more
insightful look at understanding and the importance of the research topic. The goal of the method is
to gather information that will provide more detailed information and the importance in addition to
bringing more awareness of building, rehabilitating and maintaining affordable housing.
Participants
The participants that would be included for the study will be those that live in various communities
that have affordable housing whether it is a home or apartment complex, individuals and families
that have previously lived in some type of affordable housing.

1. Introduction
This research is conducted in a short time, so obviously it will have limitations.
The research actually focus on evaluating, collecting data and information about how prices of
coconut influence on Ben Tre Coconut Candy and also on Ben Tre people. Besides, the elements
such as source of materials, quality of coconuts, quantity will also be considered.
The researcher is particularly interested in how company can transfer challenges to opportunities. In

The second point is the threat of copyright. Recently, Ben Tre Coconut Candy must compare with
other products which breach the copyright of Ben Tre. A lot of fake products are named as Ben Tre
Coconut Candy. This makes customers to be confused on quality of candy from Ben Tre. Moreover,
the company is also lost revenue.
The threat of substitute products is now increasing. There are a lot of international companies
investing into Vietnam and they bring high quality candy with famous brand. Ben Tre Coconut
Candy needs to ensure the quality will always be remained at high level.
1.3 Research objectives
1. Investigating and evaluating how price of coconut in Ben Tre province at the present effect to the

The Issue Of Cellphone Users
The issue of cellphone users has become apparent over the past few years. Depending on the user
who is executing the calls certain individuals are excluded. It comes down to whether or not we use
a computer dialer to contact individuals or have a manual caller. Computer programs dial numbers
from phone banks and data bases which unusually exclude cell phone numbers. This fact means that
people who have only a cell phone and no land line will be systematically excluded from polls with
automatic dialing. Since cell–only people tend to be mostly young people, the pollsters intentionally
overweight the 18–30 year olds to compensate for this effect, but as more people drop their
landlines, it is becoming a serious issue.
A more advanced method that takes advantage of relatively new technology is internet surveys. The
logistics for this methods are that panelists are asked to log onto a website with secured password
protection. Depending on the audience being interviewed, an online study can be in the field for a
few days or up to several weeks. Internet–based surveys are frequently used for targeted research
purposes, particularly when trying to reach a very specific, difficult–to–reach constituency. Entirely
customizable, online surveys offer clients the benefit of interviewing specific audiences not always
possible by telephone (doctors, business leaders, c–level executives, membership surveys, retail
shoppers, etc.) Best used in researching specific, targeted audience that

Consumer Attitude Towards Mobile Shopping
Abstract
Topic
This research focuses on the topic area of 'Consumers attitude towards mobile shopping' in relation
to Marks and Spencer, the high street retailer that is known for selling British quality goods. Marks
and Spencer provides clothing for women, men and children; as well as footwear, household items
and food to its consumers. This report will focus specifically on offers and discounts on Marks and
Spencer's mobile application.
Purpose
It will investigate whether the offers and discounts on Marks and Spencer's mobile application affect
female consumers' attitudes towards mobile shopping.
Design Methodology and Approach
This project is going to use an inductive research approach since there is currently no research
which links the offers and discounts on Marks and Spencer's mobile application with consumer's
attitude towards mobile shopping in particular. This research will be generating a theory; therefore
will be following "Option A– Qualitative Research followed by Quantitative Research." Option A
will be conducting 2 in–depth interviews of 15 minutes each for the first part of the Primary
Research, followed by a small survey to collect quantitative data which will then be analyzed by

Different Research Methodologies For Health And Social...
In this assignment I will be comparing different research methodologies, which might be used in
health and social care setting.
We use research in health and social care because this helps to explain the methods of social science
research, projects usually involve investigating peoples feeling, perceptions and also attitudes. In a
laboratory–based environment, research is usually linked into diseases and disorders by using
tissues and chemicals for example. This is more likely to be based on scientific method until the
research needs to involve members from the public.
Quantitative Research
"Quantitative research involves numbers and measuring quantitative or amounts". (Whitehouse, M,
2010:425). Methods that involve quantitative data may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Primary Sources
These are research techniques that can be used to produce data such as questionnaires, structured
and unstructured interviews, observations and scientific experiments.
Secondary Sources
These are sources that had been already published which now can be obtained through different
kinds of media such as books, journals, and magazines. Usually researchers will use digital media to
access these sources such as using the internet or online journals.
Questionnaires
"Research in health and social care usually relies on obtaining information from individuals using
social research methodologies". (Whitehouse, M, 2010:428). Questionnaires are suitable for
obtaining important information from many individuals in a survey who are answering the questions
this is known as 'respondents'. Questionnaires gives us the opportunity to ask questions of
participants but also allows answers to be given according to the options constructed by the
researcher using a response frame. A response frame allows a limited choice of different responses.
Also there are self–completion questions this allows respondents to fill in the answers themselves.
The questionnaire may be delivered to individuals directly by hand or by post or even online the
researcher may contact through an email address. They may be asked to complete a customer
satisfaction questionnaire. For example at college we are sent online questionnaires through are

Presidential Elections And Election Elections
Political elections, especially presidential elections have many variables that influence the voters
when they go to the polls. Many researchers use various methods to figure out all the possible
outcomes of the election and what the voters are looking for in a particular year. This year has been
unique because of the different personalities that the candidates own. This new diversity has caused
researchers to revise their tactics from earlier years. Also, negative political ads for this election year
have had some impact on voters. Furthermore, a candidate's religious affiliation will also have an
effect on different segments of the population. Finally, in previous presidential elections, divided
parties rarely won presidential elections. Will this year have the same end result? Finally, the exact
effects caused by these variables can sometimes only be determined by research studies. These
studies have to be ready to hit the core of the issue affecting the outcome. Furthermore, the
questions have to be tailored, balanced and presented the same way in all outlets.
Multitude of Media Outlets
Voting for the next President of the United States is very important in our country. In our society
today voters want to know if the next President will solve the issues that effects them and how well
will he or she keep this country moving forward. Voters have more media outlets now than ever
before when trying to decide who they want to support as a leading candidate to run for

Cyber Bullying And The Rise Of Technology Essay
In reading 8, Bullies Move Beyond the Schoolyard, Patchin and Hinduja discuss the ways that
bullying has expanded and increased in the rise of technology. Before technology bullying was a
face–to–face interaction, usually at school or coming and going from school. Bullying can cause
emotional, physical, or social harm. Now that Internet is available in everyone's home and on his or
her phones people can be bullied from any location not just at school. Bullies are also becoming
anonymous by using fake names to attack their victims, making the bullies unrivaled. Cyber
bullying is at an all time high because of the amount of technology that is available to children ages
12 to 17 years old. Bullying is a deviant act that is becoming more and more easier to do, and
research shows that bullies can create long–term damage to the victim's mental health causing them
to be depressed or respond to issues with extreme violence. An example for this is the Columbine
shooting in 1999, the shooters were bullied their whole lives by students and turned their anger into
something catastrophic such as killing other students in cold blood. Research also found that bullies
are more likely to grow up and commit violent crimes. The research method that Patchin and
Hinduja decided to use a survey method while using the Internet, which is the main source of
bullying today, the web–based questionnaire, was put on a popular musicians website. Hence, this
questionnaire was meant to attract bullies,

Understand how to organise and evaluate data that has been researched.
1.1 Describe the purpose and benefits of organising data so that it can be analysed.
The purpose and benefits of organising data so that it can be analysed as you will be turning this
data into information. Data is commonly known as information which is lacking meaning, therefore
it cannot be analysed easily, however information is much more meaningful. We can filter the data
and use it as needed which saves time scrolling through lots of unnecessary data. The benefits of
organising data are that is can be easier to read and to understand. It also makes it quicker to find the
information you need from it.

There are many ways of searching for relevant data sources such as the internet, books, previous
reports and speaking to the team. However, you must take in to account how long it will take to
research these different sources, whether they are available and how accurate and unbiased they are.
Understand how to report data that has been researched
2.1 Describe ways of reporting data so that it:
a) The ways of reporting data, so that it meets agreed aims and objectives are:
Always make sure that the data you collect serves the purpose of the report you are going to prepare
It is best not to name or label people in the report
Check to see that the report is in the agreed format and that it can be understood easily by anyone
involved
Keep the language as simple as possible if the report is to be distributed to a wide range of people,
again this depends on the purpose of the report and what you are trying to achieve or report
Arrange data clearly and neatly in different section with notes or explanations wherever necessary
The conclusion has to be clear with the results of your research or analysis
Include any recommendations
It is always good to summarise at the start as to what the report is about, its purpose and what is

The Importance Of Qualitative Research Methods
Thick description is also needed to provide detailed information about an observation or interview,
which offers an opportunity to others to better understand the inquiry process and interpret the data
in a different way. Therefore, when researchers position themselves as the qualitative research
instrument, it is important for them to constantly examine their subjectivity and challenge their
stereotyped ideologies.
Qualitative Research Methods In order to increase trustworthiness of the research findings,
researchers often consider combining different data collection methods. For example, triangulation
is often used to collect data from multiple resources and perspectives to establish the trustworthiness
of the research (Gerber et al., 2016). The paper will introduce different qualitative data collection
methods, including observation, interviews, artifacts, and surveys/questionnaires. The observation as
a data–gathering method is often used to "see events through the eyes of the people being studied"
(as cited in Gerber et al., 2016). Several kinds of observation include naturalistic and participant
observation. Participant observation as a common way to collect qualitative data, refers to as a
method in which the observer take part in the activity to experience as a participant (Stake, 2010).
However, based on the different situations, research questions, and the purpose of the study, the
level that an observer as a participant might change accordingly,

qualitative methods to develop a deep understanding which may not academic. However, data from
existing literature and text mining research are more accurate and academic which may only show

As for higher education survey, the questionnaire method is the best method as the respondents are
well educated. Recently, the majority of the higher education surveys have been adopted this method
and achieved the goals of research. The advantages of using this method in higher education are: (1)
it is easy to control and design questionnaires as each surveyed system has single users (2) it is well
applied as the respondents are well educated (3) the questionnaire method is time–saving, low cost
(4) it is good to have anonymous questionnaires (5) the information from the questionnaires is easy

Looking at exhibit 5.1 below (Mc Daniel Jr., & Gates, 2007) this is another example of Qualitative
versus Quantitative research one can see that the types of questions qualitative research is based on
probing to a small sample size and the information that is being gathered is substantial. Quantitative
is limited probing and the sample size are large and the information that is gathered varies.
Requirements for administration for qualitative is an interviewer with special skills and the analysis
is subjective and interpretive. Hardware is tape recorders, projection devices, video recorders,
pictures etc. Qualitative research requires interviewer with fewer special skills or not interviewer
and the analysis is statistical, summation. The hardware is questionnaires, computers and printouts.
The degree of replicability for qualitative is low, and for quantitative is high. Researcher training for
qualitative is psychology, sociology, consumer behavior etc and quantitative research is more
statistical, decision support systems, computer programming etc. Type of research for qualitative is
exploratory and quantitative is descriptive or casual (Mc Daniel Jr., & Gates, 2007)

Abstract
A study of American undergraduates indicated that the beliefs about the nature of life after death
were quite complicated. A 41–item questionnaire produced 12 independent groups of beliefs. Belief
in an internal locus of control and that one's life is owned by God were associated with a more
positive view of the afterlife, as was being Roman Catholic rather than Protestant. The most
common beliefs were that one is reunited with family and friends, that the afterlife is comforting,
that there is Heaven and that the transition is peaceful, all believed by more than 90 percent of the

In this method twelve factors were identified about beliefs about afterlife. Three of the major factors
were that 12.1 percent believe in Heave and Hell. 7.9 percent believe in reincarnation and 6.6
percent believed that there ate material objects and sexual desire in the after life. The gender
differences that were found are that men are not less likely to believe in afterlife but they were less
likely to believe in Heaven, reuniting with loved ones, communication with the living and request
for forgiveness before death. Men were more likely the women to believe that there are material
objects, that spirits have human form, that there is pain, hunger, thirst and that rituals carried out
after death are important. The religious differences they found were that Protestant students were
less likely to believe in life–after–death then Roman Catholic students. On the other hand, Protestant
students were more likely to believe that there is Hell and that forgiveness needs to be requested to
get into Heaven. One of the strengths that this article has is that they provided a broad hypothesis. It
was not specific and that gave them more room to play around with how they want to test the beliefs
on life–after–death. They basically just wanted to explore from what was found in previous search
on the afterlife and find more detailed data. Another strengths in this article were the specific
questions that the participants were asked about their beliefs in the afterlife. The

Methodology Online interviews: a list of questions relevant to the research topic shall be prepared
by the research team. The questions will revolve around the strategies that small businesses can
employ to gain a large customer base. Online interviews can be done through computer systems like
Skype, IMO and also through telephone calls (McMunn 23). This method is very efficient because
the research team can deal with a big number of people at the convenience of one's location without
the participants having to travel for the interviews. Moreover, this mode of data collection is cheap,
fast and convenient for both the research team and the participant and would help the research team
to gather the desired information immediately the team gets in touch with the participants. In
addition, the interviewer, who is in this case is a member of the research team, shall have an
opportunity to ask relevant questions directly to the client but not limited to the questions on the list
and at the same time putting down into writing the responses provided. Online questionnaires: in
this case, the research team shall prepare a website and also request for the participants wishing to
respond using the questionnaire mode to provide the team with their email addresses. The team
would then after drafting the questions send the questionnaire form to all the participant email
addresses. Those without email addresses can access and respond to the questions from the team's

Due to the increasing and distorted use of ZHC in private and public sectors, the Green Party has
called for the banning of this practice. Bennet (2013), reported that these kinds of contracts put the
employees in a delicate and unclear situation in respect of the incomes to be earned each week and
at the mercy of managers´ desires. Therefore, it should be evaluated in the case of this investigation,
both legal and political implications of the use of ZHC in Abercrombie & Fitch London in order to
estimate the different types of contracts that could replace the zero hour contract in the event that the
rights of the employees of this company are being violated by the indiscriminate use of this form of
recruitment. On the other hand, there is a range of points of view that defend the ZHC. Ehmann
(2013), argued that the prohibition of ZHC could affect a countless number of people who have
found benefits under this type of contract that gives them the flexibility to mix his work with
lifestyle and personal commitments. Similarly, Green (2013) affirmed that Zero–hour contracts can
be beneficial for both businesses and workers. Additionally, Smith (2013), stressed that it costs less
to hire staff under ZHC, giving the chance to the employers to hire more people thanks to these
contracts and the affordability that comes with them. In contrast, organisations like Resolution
Foundation (2013), proclaim that the lack of sureness associated with ZHC

Research Methodology: Two Types Of Research Methodology
1.4 Research Methodology This section is mainly about the study of the method that will be used to
examine the research problem. Method acts as a tool or instrument for measuring variable stated in
the objectives or the way of the study being conducted. Once researcher have chosen the scientific
method as the means of inquiry, researcher must make some decisions about how researcher are
going to gather all information (Kenneth & Bruce, 2005). There are two types of research method
can be used to collect data either quantitative method or qualitative method. The term of quantitative
research is numerical in nature and can be mathematically computed. Quantitative data measure uses
different scales, which can be classified as nominal scale, ordinal scale, interval scale and ... Show

The study of social fact influenced by many variables, thus qualitative research method is the best
measure to conduct this research. The term refer to any type of qualitative research study that
produces findings not arrived by the way of statistical procedures or other means of quantification
(Strauss & Corbin, 1990). The qualitative method, naturalistic approach is use to observe and
interpret reality with the purpose of developing a theory that will explain what was experienced. The
qualitative examination reflect some type of individual phenomenological point of view. Douglas
(1976) and Greertz (1973) believe that numerous substances exist and various elucidation are
accessible from distinctive people that are all similarly legitimate. Reality is a social construct. If
one function from this perspective, how one conducts the study and what decision a researcher
makes from a study are extensively not quite the same as those a scientist originating from a
quantitative position (Isadore & Carolyn,

3.1 Research Approach and Methodological Choice
Ontology and epistemology are both essential elements of philosophy of knowledge. Ontology
refers to the nature of reality, or assumptions about how we see the world. In part of epistemology
refers to assumptions about the great way to study the globe (Saunders, Lewis, and Thornhill, 2015).
In another word, epistemology is about the way we know things when ontology is about what things
are (De Vaus, 2001). As there are several major factors that have effects on the intention to purchase

Commonly, the importance of research is to provide a clearer proposal of conducting research,
which served to set more precise objectives (Ghauri and Gronhaun, 2005). This study discussed the
relevant literature on travel behavior, lifestyle segmentation and focused on the travel motivation
factors as well as information search element segmentation that affect the choice of travel
destinations. The main purpose of this paper is to propose a different group of lifestyle which
influences the decision‐making process of international students in parts of the travel motivation
factor and information search.
Figure 3.1: The research onion (Saunders et al, 2009, pp.108)
Trochim (2006) stated that there are two forms of approaches which are induction and deduction.
Inductive approach conducts the specific to the general, while deductive approach begins with the
general and ends with the specific (Trochim, 2006). Creswell and Plano (2007) also supported that
the process of deduction work as developing hypotheses based on existing theory, and then
designing a research strategy to test the hypotheses. From the literature reviewing on induction and
deduction approaches, the deductive approach is matched with this research as it begins with

Starting a business can a time be a very difficult task to undertake since it involves full commitment
and researching on the consumer needs. For a business to succeed, it should have taken into
consideration the market needs of individuals. A business research is a vital requirement that should
never be left out when considering a business project. The success of a business is mostly
determined by the depth or research you conducted before establishing the business. When a
business research is shallow, it is expected that the business will fail in the long run if different

After the feedback, the team engages in the production of a product that best suits the consumer
needs. After incorporating all the sentiments, the product is expected to be better. However, product
improvement is a continuous process that needs to be performed from time to time. In fact, new
human wants continue to be experienced, and thus innovation is inevitable.
An online search for consumer needs is another research method that is widely used for a business
project to be successful. The important bit about conducting an online search is because the online
platform is open to feedback and people opinions. An online platform is cheap, and they may save a
lot of time and funds in conducting research using this method. Additionally, this method has been
tried by different organizations and proven to be effective and reliable. Further, product developers
believe that this method gives them genuine response so as to design the product that is required.
Some of the response given may not be relevant, but one can use them to improve on the existing
products. Additionally, the online platform may be compromised by your competitors and use the
feedback to make better products than you. However, with proper security measures, the consumer
feedback will put you a step ahead in developing the required [product and making the business
project successful (Coldwell, 2010).
The outcomes from these research methods are expected to be insightful to the product developers.

The Impact Of Mass Media On Children
Mental health problems have been affecting nearly every society in some way, shape, or form for as
long as we can remember. According to the World Health Organization, approximately one million
people die from suicide every year (Schaefer, 2018, p. 6). Durkheim also noted that the suicide rate
in a society reflects how well the people were integrated in the society (Schaefer, 2018, p. 7). The
problem that I want to focus on revolves around how marketing to children teaches them values, like
material objects and money, that will eventually lead to higher rates of anxiety and depression at an
earlier age. It is known that the mass media strongly influences kids ages 12 to 17, but the age at
which kids gain access to technology is starting to decline (Schaefer, 2018, p. 90). Gradually, we can
see how the media has an overwhelming effect on the youth from the way children think about their
future and their career path to the way that they play. This is directly observed in a nationwide
survey of incoming college freshmen which shows that values having to do with money and power
rose from 42 percent in 1966 to 82 percent in 2015 (Schaefer, 2018, p. 63). If corporations
constantly promote the idea that having more things will lead to happiness, then when kids can't
have those things they start to believe that they can't be happy without them. Method In this study,
the first variable that will be measured are the time kids (age five to twelve) spend either watching

Ap Psychology Survey Essay
Surveys are commonly used in psychology research to collect self–report data from study
participants. In other words, a survey could be described as a brief interview or discussion with
individuals about a specific topic. A survey may focus on factual information about individuals or it
may aim to collect the opinions of the survey takers. Surveys are generally standardized to ensure
that they have reliability and validity. Standardization is very important in surveys so that the results
can be generalized to the larger population. Surveys can be used to collect information on a wide
range of things, including personal facts, attitudes, past behaviors, and opinions. Survey research
can be specific and limited, or it can have more global, widespread ... Show more content on

No other research method can provide this broad capability, which ensures a more accurate sample
to gather targeted results in which to draw conclusions and make important decisions. Data
collection is much easier with surveys which tend to use easy to read data sources that can be
compiled and analyzed as needed for market research needs.
Again, the anonymity of surveys allows respondents to answer with more candid and valid answers.
To get the most accurate data, one needs respondents to be as open and honest as possible with their
answers. Surveys conducted anonymously provide an avenue for more honest and unambiguous
responses than other types of research methodologies, especially if it is clearly stated that survey
answers will remain completely confidential.
Related to the benefit of cost effectiveness is a survey's potential for generalizability. Because
surveys allow researchers to collect data from very large samples for a relatively low cost, survey
methods lend themselves to probability sampling techniques. Survey research is the best method to
use when one hopes to gain a representative picture of the attitudes and characteristics of a large

The dilemma that Company XYZ, Inc. will face is how sales of online reading materials will affect
the sales of traditional books. Everyone wants everything electronical and books are no different.
Company XYZ, Inc. continues to explore the validity of the data is contingent on the appropriate
collection method of the sample data. Therefore, the design of the questionnaire is important to
consider in this process. The design of the questionnaire will include an appropriate response type
such as ranking the results. Ranking the data is one of the general response types to use. The
research team will classify the findings in the order of power. These determinations of ranking and
order of power will assist the researchers in the development of appropriate questions for the
questionnaire. Questionnaire Design In developing surveys and questionnaires, it is important for
researchers to determine the best method of delivering the questionnaire to participants. Researchers
have several methods available, such as face–to–face interviews, electronic mailing of a
questionnaire or telephone interviews survey (Cooper & Schindler, 2011). Each of these delivery
methods has positive and negative aspects. For instance, although delivery by mail or telephone
questionnaires are the popular methods of data collection, both methods provide similar advantages,

The Determinants Of Australian Consumers ' Attitudes...
1.0 Introduction and Background
The growth of online retail shopping has experienced an extensive growth in Australia and also
worldwide in the last few years, the rapid growth in numbers of internet users buying products
online. Research shows that the growth of online shopping has continued to outperform that of
traditional retail, since November 2011 and November 2012 The National Australia Bank retail
index shows online retail sales have increased by 27% since previous years. Factors that may be
driving the growth of online shopping in Australia may include: (16 January, 2013, Logistics &
Materials Handling Blog)
Consumers are seeking better value in their purchases
There is a greater selection of goods
The increase of widespread usage of mobile Phones (increase in convenience)
Increasing level of simplicity and comfort with technology and the internet surrounded by
consumers across all age groups
Use of social media by both consumers and retailers to drive brand awareness of group buying sites
This research assignment will search to recognize the determinants of Australian consumers'
attitudes toward online retail shopping. It will examine possible differences across market segments
including demographic segments and behavioural segments (e.g., Internet usage patterns).
Interviews have been conducted to explore the drivers of online retail shopping behaviour. This

Title
Household waste recycling: An analysis of students and pensioners attitudes towards recycling and
how their views affect the environment.
Overall aim
The overall aim of my research project is to find out how two different parts of society affect the
environment in either a positive or negative way. Recycling is designed to benefit the environment
by reducing pollution and litter; despite this not everyone recycles. I 'm therefore intrigued to find
out how students and pensioners approach recycling and have an effect on the environment. The
reason for choosing students is the general consensus is that they are 'lazy ' and therefore they may
not recycle; pensioners are on the opposite end of the spectrum and have lots of free time and
therefore may recycle more. From my research proposal I 'm intrigued to find out whether this
comes to fruition or another conclusion is reached. The views which they form will either have a
positive or negative impact on the environment and I will then go on to explain the resulting impact
on the environment. I may also suggest how their views may change in the future; for example the
students of today may have a different view to pensioners at the moment but in the future when they
become pensioners themselves this may change.
My research project may enable government/council bodies to address the problems/success of
recycling. The population which are recycling could be rewarded in some way

The Role Of Body Image And Social Media Essay
Social media is often viewed as 'friendlier' than mass media and more 'real.' Posts on Instagram,
Facebook, and Tumblr are made by 'real' people. While many women have learned to recognize the
inaccurate portrayals of the female body in mass media, fewer have made this connection with
social media. An Instagram post can be edited, retouched, angled, and filtered to make the individual
in the photo look drastically different from the way they appear in person, just as models are altered
in mass media advertisements. The literature I have consulted addresses the relationship between
body image and social media use but does not factor in dietary choices.
This gap in knowledge is connected to the strengths and weaknesses of the research methods
predominantly used to deal with this problem. Researchers use content analyses to describe existing
evidence. In this field of study, this method is useful for analyzing social media posts and content
posted on the web. It does not, however, address why these patterns may exist and why this is
important. Researchers use ethnographies (or netnographies) to study people. Ethnographies rely on
rich description of the individual(s) being studied. This research method, however, may result in the
exclusion of important information. De la Pena and Quintanilla (2015) may have failed to take note
of relevant information because they did not feel it was important to the research question. This, in
turn, may have produced incomplete research

Research Methodology On Quantitative Approach
CHAPTER THREE:
3. Research Methodology
3.1. Introduction
3.2. Research Approach
This section highlights the main research approaches in depth, along with their associated methods.
After reviewing these methodologies in details, this section will end by selecting the most suitable
approach for this research.
3.4. Quantitative Approach
A quantitative research could be defined as a process that is formal, systematic and objective, where
numerical data are used to gather information about something or someone. This research method is
used to describe variables, examine relationships among variables, and to determine cause–and–
effect interactions between the variables (Burns and Grove, 2005). The quantitative approach is
mostly utilised in social science as well as educational (Hohmann, 2006). It quantifies the way
people behave, think, feel, or other defined variables in a certain way, and it uses statistical analysis
to determine the results (Sheldon, 2015). According to DeVault (2015), in most cases, there is an
assumed hypothesis in form of statements that a research works on to answer. This hypothesis could
be classified into two variables; independent and dependent. The former is a variable that can be
developed by the researcher, while the latter is a function of independent variable (Kaliwo, 2014). In
the conclusion section, these hypotheses will be either accepted or rejected based on the analysis of
the collected data (DeVault, 2015).

Before launching or expanding a business venture, there needs to be an understanding of the

"Exploratory research is open–ended method that assists in defining a specific problem, and usually
involves detailed, unstructured interviews in which lengthy answers are solicited from a small group
of respondents" (Entrepreneur Media, Inc. 2012, para 1). Specific research involves a more precise
approach "used to solve a problem that exploratory research has identified" (Entrepreneur Media,
Inc. 2012, para 1). The structure of these types of interviews are much more formal than those used
in exploratory research. Data collection tools used in primary research can include: consumer
interviews or surveys, focus groups, observations, or field tests (such as employing a test–market).
"Primary research delivers more specific results than secondary research, which is an especially
important consideration when you're launching a new product or service" (SFGate, 2012, para 3).
This type of research is used to find answers to a predetermined problem using "statistical
methodologies that involve sampling as little as 1 percent of a target market" (SFGate, 2012, para
3). The main downside of primary market research over that of secondary is that is expensive to
conduct.

Prior to conducting primary research, companies should first obtain secondary data from all
available sources that pertain to the interests of the subject. Companies conducting secondary
market research focus on collating sections of research

Key Engagement Drivers Of The Companies Operating Across Asia
Asian economy is currently emerging from the major financial crisis. Savvy organizations are more
focused on long term sustainable business success– to increase productivity and profitability by
utilizing human capital efficiently. The most recent innovation to increase company's profitability is
to engage the employees towards their work. Robinson and Hay (2003) mentioned employee
engagement as an evolution of past research which focuses on employee satisfaction, motivational
approaches and commitment. This is a modernized version of job satisfaction. According to Robert
J. Vance (2006), employees who are engaged in their work and committed to their organizations
give companies crucial competitive advantage– including higher productivity and lower employee
turnover. Now–a–days the companies' objective is to retain the best talents and manage their
performance for increasing company's productivity and revenue. The aim of my research is to
identify the key engagement drivers of the companies operating across Asia. There is no magic
formula to engage employees towards the business but a constant and flexible procedure to satisfy
and motivate employees for long term business success. The key engagement drivers work as a
"bridge" between the employee and employer. Thus, employees will achieve the opportunity to
develop their career, trust their leaders for setting the goals and at the same time company will
achieve the business success in long run. The area I selected for

Naturalistic Observation Paper
There are three basic methods a researchers uses to conduct research. The first method is the
observational method which is when behavior is closely observed. Now there are two different
categories when it comes to the observational method– naturalistic observation and laboratory
observation. When doing naturalistic observation the researcher views the participants in their
natural environment. Now when doing laboratory observations the participants are viewed in a lab.
Researchers have more control in a laboratory. Laboratory observations are more meaningful than
those obtained with naturalistic observations. The second method is the case study method which
involves an in–depth study of an individual or a group of individuals. When doing the case study
method it allows the researchers to investigate a topic in way more detail than might be possible if
they were trying to work with a large number of research participants. The last method that
researchers use is the survey method. When using the survey method questions are administered
through interviews or questionnaires. Case studies allow a researcher to investigate a topic in far
more detail than might be possible if they were trying to deal with a large number of research
participants. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Impact Of Marketing On Consumer 's Choice And Behavior...
Methodology Literature Review
Abdullah Almarzuqi
Central Michigan University
Introduction Consumer's decisions are mainly influenced by how well they know the product. The
appearance of the product too influences the consumer's choice and behavior. This makes the firms
to use branding as a way to increase customer's awareness on their products. Branding is tending to
be inevitable for the firms these days. Branding has a great influence on consumer's decisions. Firms
are getting a greater challenge to ensure that they continuously remain up to date when it comes to
different forms of advertisement and marketing strategies. This ensures that they acquire consumer's
loyalty, increase the market share of their brands and increase the volume of their brands they sell.
In my research, I will use interview as a methodology that I can use to get more information from
the consumers. I will use interviews to conduct research to come up with a summary of how well
branding impacts the decisions of a consumer. Branding can be defined as packaging of a product in
different ways so as attract more consumers by making it look more appealing. It helps create a
name, symbol or design of a product that differentiates it from the others. The consumers can
identify a product by its branding features. Interview is research methodology that is used to acquire
information from the respondents. It involves asking the consumers questions directly and giving

Using A Mixed Methods Approach

  • 1. Using A Mixed Methods Approach Methodology Research Design In this proposed study, the researcher will use a mixed methods approach (Jack, Norman & Helen, 2012). Jack, Norman & Helen define a mixed method as a procedure for both quantitative and qualitative data at some stage of the research process, to understand a research problem more completely (Jack, Norman & Helen, 2012). Jack, Norman & Helen (2012) define qualitative research as "research studies that investigate the quality of relationships, activities, situations, or materials" (p. 426). In a qualitative research, people use more explanatory data, and data are collected in the form of words and description rather than numbers and statistics. A qualitative research is a method of analyzing, and interpreting data by observing what people do and say (Jack, Norman & Helen, 2012). In contrast to qualitative researches, a quantitative research is a formal, objective, systematic process in which numerical data are used to obtain information about the world (Burns & Grove, 2005). Data of the quantitative research is in numerical form such as statistics, and percentages. The goal for mixed method is that the quantitative data and results provide a general picture of the research problem, while the qualitative data and its analysis will refine and explain those statistical results by exploring participants' views in more depth. For example, in the current study researcher collects questionnaires for students to get data. And then the researcher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Research On B2b International Research Firm In week seven of our Research Methods course we were asked to identify two research firms and essentially do a compare and contrast on them. After listening to the lecture and doing a little review, I identified two main research corporations that interested me enough to do further research. This week my scholarly activity will be written on B2B International Research firm and EFG Worldwide Research firm. The two firms are very unique in the way they collect data using a variety of different tools, however they also acknowledge that research cannot be specified down to one method and may require multiple methods. As we begin to look into the varying tools that each company uses, I will also discuss the effectiveness of those tools. Beginning with the European Fieldwork Group or EFG Worldwide, they are strategically set up to provide businesses with a one–stop–shop experience which is assisted by the local presence within multiple states. (EFG WORLDWIDE. (2015)) With the speed of communication, the financial market and commerce this is an extremely important benefit to business companies looking for assistance. The EFG Worldwide states that they offer the following tools to consumers; quantitative fieldwork to include telephone, face–to–face, online research and mystery shopping. The company also has an expanded qualitative fieldwork group that consists of focus groups, in–depth interviews and even ethnological studies. While EFG tries to help both industry and small ... • 5. Internet Communication as a Tool for Qualitative Research Research Method 1 Running head: Research Problem and Method Paper Internet Communication as a Tool for Qualitative Research Research Problem and Method Paper Abstract: While calloborating on the research community, the World Wide Web has opened a different perspective and provides access for data collection. The Internet user can now engage in research on a world–wide, " low cost, almost instantaneous scale – and in ways which potentially overcome some of the barriers imposed by more conventional research approaches." However, this idealistic view some what obscures both methodological and ethical difficulties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When social spaces take place, this could happen delayed time sequences or real time. There is a long tradition of social interaction and community development based on the capabilities of the Internet. On the other hand, while speaking of short terms, the Internet can be perceived as a set of technological tools, a complex network of social relations, a language system, a cultural milieu, and so forth. Quote, "The way one defines and frames the Internet influences how one Research Method 4 interacts with Internet–based technologies, as well as how one studies the Internet. " The Internet as a Research Tool: People might naturally or deliberately perceive the Internet as a tool for receiving and sending information. • 7. Contribution Of An Ethnographic Research On Friendship Throughout this essay I will be evaluating the contribution of an ethnographic approach to research on friendship. I will be looking at, and including evidence to support both sides of the argument as to whether or not this research method is in fact useful when it comes to gaining knowledge about friendship. As well as evaluating this method, I will compare it against others to reflect on the strengths, weaknesses and the typical data collected. I will look at some of the questions about friendship that have been addressed, and then whether this is the best method or if there are others that could have been more suitable. Ethnography is a qualitative method of research in which the researcher takes part in the activities of a group such that they are able to complete their observations over a period of time in a natural, real–life environment. When it comes to investigating friendship, one question that has been raised is 'what is the role of friendship in the life of a 13 year old?''. Several sources of data include ethnographic notes taken whilst spending time with a group of friends during school lunch breaks and diary/blog entries etc. Firstly, in this case the researcher would need to carefully consider the strengths and weaknesses of each type of data, for example, when looking at a blog the information/data available is likely to be information that the author wants to share with a wider audience whereas a diary entry is more private. In this case, both documents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Online Research : The Microblogging And Public Sphere 1. Research Topic and Question The topic of this Online Research is about the Microblogging and Public Sphere. Microblogging is a new type of online social platform appeared in recent year. An example of such case is Weibo in China, which was released in October, 2006 and now it is an ideal tool of public communication among the Chinese netizens (Mou, 2014). Ma (2013) mentioned that, different from the traditional social networking, such as Facebook, in which users are more likely to link back to their real life. This means Microblogging makes its users focus more on things they are interested in which might be less connected to their daily life. Besides, according to a statistics, the proportion of Weibo users occupied more than 50% of the total internet population (CNNIC, 2013, cited in Mou, 2014). Therefore, it is worth to discuss the consequences brought by Microblogging for its users to disseminate the information in public sphere. In this case, one research question can be 'Do people can improve their political participation through scanning and commenting on Weibo'. This question aims to explore the effects of Microblogging, especially Weibo, that whether such platform can let people discuss about politics more freely in order to generate positive influences. 2. Research Method The method has been chosen for this Online Research is interview bases on online radio/video software, such as Skype. This is because the research is consists of several open–ended questions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Project Management: What I Learned Role and tasks The main issue that I had to deal with during the project is the near absence of the action plan. The plan should consists of a number of action/steps that need to be performed in order to reach the research project's objectives. Due to the absence of an action plan, we wasted time/efforts by either doing nothing or doing things that are irrelevant. Besides, the research project workload was not divided between us in a fair manner. This is mainly due to the absence of both a solid project schedule and a project manager/leader. The role of a project manager should be supporting team members and assigning tasks to them. As a result I wasn't able to contribute to the project's progress as it was expected from me. Regarding my contribution to the project, before everything, I read various papers about Embodied conversational agents (ECAs) in order to have a clear idea about the subject. Also, I have helped writing and reviewing deliverables. Generally, my duty throughout the project was supporting and helping the team in various aspects such as conducting the experiment, writing and reviewing papers. Moreover, my activities throughout the research project were: 1. Do online research on ECAs and education 2. Brainstorm about the topic of research 3. Help writing and reviewing papers (P1–P8) as well as making presentation slides 4. Work on the experiment's settings such as questionnaire– online survey 5. A Research Study On Data Collection Method Data Collection Method According to (Swanson, 2005), qualitative research demands a lot from the researcher, it would also be important for the researcher to acknowledge the words studied in the analysis are influenced by ourselves. The dependent variable would be the behavioral changes that would take affect if people were able to successfully gain housing and be able sustain themselves. The results would be better health, maintaining employment and children doing better in schools. The researcher has developed the following procedures and methods that will look to gain a more insightful look at understanding and the importance of the research topic. The goal of the method is to gather information that will provide more detailed information and the importance in addition to bringing more awareness of building, rehabilitating and maintaining affordable housing. Participants The participants that would be included for the study will be those that live in various communities that have affordable housing whether it is a home or apartment complex, individuals and families that have previously lived in some type of affordable housing. • 18. The Issue Of Cellphone Users The issue of cellphone users has become apparent over the past few years. Depending on the user who is executing the calls certain individuals are excluded. It comes down to whether or not we use a computer dialer to contact individuals or have a manual caller. Computer programs dial numbers from phone banks and data bases which unusually exclude cell phone numbers. This fact means that people who have only a cell phone and no land line will be systematically excluded from polls with automatic dialing. Since cell–only people tend to be mostly young people, the pollsters intentionally overweight the 18–30 year olds to compensate for this effect, but as more people drop their landlines, it is becoming a serious issue. A more advanced method that takes advantage of relatively new technology is internet surveys. The logistics for this methods are that panelists are asked to log onto a website with secured password protection. Depending on the audience being interviewed, an online study can be in the field for a few days or up to several weeks. Internet–based surveys are frequently used for targeted research purposes, particularly when trying to reach a very specific, difficult–to–reach constituency. Entirely customizable, online surveys offer clients the benefit of interviewing specific audiences not always possible by telephone (doctors, business leaders, c–level executives, membership surveys, retail shoppers, etc.) Best used in researching specific, targeted audience that ... We use research in health and social care because this helps to explain the methods of social science research, projects usually involve investigating peoples feeling, perceptions and also attitudes. In a laboratory–based environment, research is usually linked into diseases and disorders by using tissues and chemicals for example. This is more likely to be based on scientific method until the research needs to involve members from the public. Questionnaires are suitable for obtaining important information from many individuals in a survey who are answering the questions this is known as 'respondents'. Questionnaires gives us the opportunity to ask questions of participants but also allows answers to be given according to the options constructed by the researcher using a response frame. A response frame allows a limited choice of different responses. Also there are self–completion questions this allows respondents to fill in the answers themselves. • 24. Presidential Elections And Election Elections Political elections, especially presidential elections have many variables that influence the voters when they go to the polls. Many researchers use various methods to figure out all the possible outcomes of the election and what the voters are looking for in a particular year. This year has been unique because of the different personalities that the candidates own. This new diversity has caused researchers to revise their tactics from earlier years. Also, negative political ads for this election year have had some impact on voters. Furthermore, a candidate's religious affiliation will also have an effect on different segments of the population. Finally, in previous presidential elections, divided parties rarely won presidential elections. Will this year have the same end result? Finally, the exact effects caused by these variables can sometimes only be determined by research studies. These studies have to be ready to hit the core of the issue affecting the outcome. Furthermore, the questions have to be tailored, balanced and presented the same way in all outlets. Multitude of Media Outlets Voting for the next President of the United States is very important in our country. In our society today voters want to know if the next President will solve the issues that effects them and how well will he or she keep this country moving forward. Cyber Bullying And The Rise Of Technology Essay In reading 8, Bullies Move Beyond the Schoolyard, Patchin and Hinduja discuss the ways that bullying has expanded and increased in the rise of technology. Before technology bullying was a face–to–face interaction, usually at school or coming and going from school. Bullying can cause emotional, physical, or social harm. Now that Internet is available in everyone's home and on his or her phones people can be bullied from any location not just at school. Bullies are also becoming anonymous by using fake names to attack their victims, making the bullies unrivaled. Cyber bullying is at an all time high because of the amount of technology that is available to children ages 12 to 17 years old. Bullying is a deviant act that is becoming more and more easier to do, and research shows that bullies can create long–term damage to the victim's mental health causing them to be depressed or respond to issues with extreme violence. An example for this is the Columbine shooting in 1999, the shooters were bullied their whole lives by students and turned their anger into something catastrophic such as killing other students in cold blood. Research also found that bullies are more likely to grow up and commit violent crimes. The research method that Patchin and Hinduja decided to use a survey method while using the Internet, which is the main source of bullying today, the web–based questionnaire, was put on a popular musicians website. Hence, this questionnaire was meant to attract bullies, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance Of Qualitative Research Methods Thick description is also needed to provide detailed information about an observation or interview, which offers an opportunity to others to better understand the inquiry process and interpret the data in a different way. Therefore, when researchers position themselves as the qualitative research instrument, it is important for them to constantly examine their subjectivity and challenge their stereotyped ideologies. Qualitative Research Methods In order to increase trustworthiness of the research findings, researchers often consider combining different data collection methods. For example, triangulation is often used to collect data from multiple resources and perspectives to establish the trustworthiness of the research (Gerber et al., 2016). The paper will introduce different qualitative data collection methods, including observation, interviews, artifacts, and surveys/questionnaires. The observation as a data–gathering method is often used to "see events through the eyes of the people being studied" (as cited in Gerber et al., 2016). Several kinds of observation include naturalistic and participant observation. Participant observation as a common way to collect qualitative data, refers to as a method in which the observer take part in the activity to experience as a participant (Stake, 2010). Belief in an internal locus of control and that one's life is owned by God were associated with a more positive view of the afterlife, as was being Roman Catholic rather than Protestant. Three of the major factors were that 12.1 percent believe in Heave and Hell. 7.9 percent believe in reincarnation and 6.6 percent believed that there ate material objects and sexual desire in the after life. The gender differences that were found are that men are not less likely to believe in afterlife but they were less likely to believe in Heaven, reuniting with loved ones, communication with the living and request for forgiveness before death. Men were more likely the women to believe that there are material objects, that spirits have human form, that there is pain, hunger, thirst and that rituals carried out after death are important. • 52. The Impact Of Mass Media On Children Mental health problems have been affecting nearly every society in some way, shape, or form for as long as we can remember. According to the World Health Organization, approximately one million people die from suicide every year (Schaefer, 2018, p. 6). Durkheim also noted that the suicide rate in a society reflects how well the people were integrated in the society (Schaefer, 2018, p. 7). The problem that I want to focus on revolves around how marketing to children teaches them values, like material objects and money, that will eventually lead to higher rates of anxiety and depression at an earlier age. It is known that the mass media strongly influences kids ages 12 to 17, but the age at which kids gain access to technology is starting to decline (Schaefer, 2018, p. 90). Gradually, we can see how the media has an overwhelming effect on the youth from the way children think about their future and their career path to the way that they play. This is directly observed in a nationwide survey of incoming college freshmen which shows that values having to do with money and power rose from 42 percent in 1966 to 82 percent in 2015 (Schaefer, 2018, p. 63). If corporations constantly promote the idea that having more things will lead to happiness, then when kids can't have those things they start to believe that they can't be happy without them. Research Methods: The Research proposal Title Household waste recycling: An analysis of students and pensioners attitudes towards recycling and how their views affect the environment. Overall aim The overall aim of my research project is to find out how two different parts of society affect the environment in either a positive or negative way. Recycling is designed to benefit the environment by reducing pollution and litter; despite this not everyone recycles. I 'm therefore intrigued to find out how students and pensioners approach recycling and have an effect on the environment. The reason for choosing students is the general consensus is that they are 'lazy ' and therefore they may not recycle; pensioners are on the opposite end of the spectrum and have lots of free time and therefore may recycle more. From my research proposal I 'm intrigued to find out whether this comes to fruition or another conclusion is reached. The views which they form will either have a positive or negative impact on the environment and I will then go on to explain the resulting impact on the environment. I may also suggest how their views may change in the future; for example the students of today may have a different view to pensioners at the moment but in the future when they become pensioners themselves this may change. • 65. The Role Of Body Image And Social Media Essay Social media is often viewed as 'friendlier' than mass media and more 'real.' Posts on Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr are made by 'real' people. While many women have learned to recognize the inaccurate portrayals of the female body in mass media, fewer have made this connection with social media. An Instagram post can be edited, retouched, angled, and filtered to make the individual in the photo look drastically different from the way they appear in person, just as models are altered in mass media advertisements. The literature I have consulted addresses the relationship between body image and social media use but does not factor in dietary choices. This gap in knowledge is connected to the strengths and weaknesses of the research methods predominantly used to deal with this problem. Researchers use content analyses to describe existing evidence. In this field of study, this method is useful for analyzing social media posts and content posted on the web. It does not, however, address why these patterns may exist and why this is important. Researchers use ethnographies (or netnographies) to study people. Ethnographies rely on rich description of the individual(s) being studied. This research method, however, may result in the exclusion of important information. Research Approach This section highlights the main research approaches in depth, along with their associated methods. After reviewing these methodologies in details, this section will end by selecting the most suitable approach for this research. 3.4. Quantitative Approach A quantitative research could be defined as a process that is formal, systematic and objective, where numerical data are used to gather information about something or someone. This research method is used to describe variables, examine relationships among variables, and to determine cause–and– effect interactions between the variables (Burns and Grove, 2005). The quantitative approach is mostly utilised in social science as well as educational (Hohmann, 2006). It quantifies the way people behave, think, feel, or other defined variables in a certain way, and it uses statistical analysis to determine the results (Sheldon, 2015). According to DeVault (2015), in most cases, there is an assumed hypothesis in form of statements that a research works on to answer. This hypothesis could be classified into two variables; independent and dependent. The former is a variable that can be developed by the researcher, while the latter is a function of independent variable (Kaliwo, 2014). In the conclusion section, these hypotheses will be either accepted or rejected based on the analysis of the collected data (DeVault, 2015). A quantitative approach ... The structure of these types of interviews are much more formal than those used in exploratory research. Data collection tools used in primary research can include: consumer interviews or surveys, focus groups, observations, or field tests (such as employing a test–market). "Primary research delivers more specific results than secondary research, which is an especially important consideration when you're launching a new product or service" (SFGate, 2012, para 3). This type of research is used to find answers to a predetermined problem using "statistical methodologies that involve sampling as little as 1 percent of a target market" (SFGate, 2012, para 3). The main downside of primary market research over that of secondary is that is expensive to conduct. Secondary Market Research Prior to conducting primary research, companies should first obtain secondary data from all available sources that pertain to the interests of the subject. • 71. Key Engagement Drivers Of The Companies Operating Across Asia Asian economy is currently emerging from the major financial crisis. Savvy organizations are more focused on long term sustainable business success– to increase productivity and profitability by utilizing human capital efficiently. The most recent innovation to increase company's profitability is to engage the employees towards their work. Robinson and Hay (2003) mentioned employee engagement as an evolution of past research which focuses on employee satisfaction, motivational approaches and commitment. This is a modernized version of job satisfaction. According to Robert J. Vance (2006), employees who are engaged in their work and committed to their organizations give companies crucial competitive advantage– including higher productivity and lower employee turnover. Now–a–days the companies' objective is to retain the best talents and manage their performance for increasing company's productivity and revenue. The aim of my research is to identify the key engagement drivers of the companies operating across Asia. There is no magic formula to engage employees towards the business but a constant and flexible procedure to satisfy and motivate employees for long term business success. The key engagement drivers work as a "bridge" between the employee and employer. Thus, employees will achieve the opportunity to develop their career, trust their leaders for setting the goals and at the same time company will achieve the business success in long run. • 73. Naturalistic Observation Paper There are three basic methods a researchers uses to conduct research. The first method is the observational method which is when behavior is closely observed. Now there are two different categories when it comes to the observational method– naturalistic observation and laboratory observation. When doing naturalistic observation the researcher views the participants in their natural environment. Now when doing laboratory observations the participants are viewed in a lab. Researchers have more control in a laboratory. Laboratory observations are more meaningful than those obtained with naturalistic observations. The second method is the case study method which involves an in–depth study of an individual or a group of individuals. When doing the case study method it allows the researchers to investigate a topic in way more detail than might be possible if they were trying to work with a large number of research participants. The last method that researchers use is the survey method. When using the survey method questions are administered through interviews or questionnaires. Case studies allow a researcher to investigate a topic in far more detail than might be possible if they were trying to deal with a large number of research participants. ... The natural environment of gambling that I would observe is a casino because I would want to get an inside view. It's the most popular place where gambling is done. I would pay close attention and focus on the person and the setting. I would make sure I pay close attention to details and all the surroundings while I'm gathering all of my information that I need. You want to see what kind of relationship the gambler has with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bush once said " Leadership to me means duty, honor, country. It means character, and it means listening from time to time" (Bush, G.W., date unknown). The United States Military is a force like no other and has been around since our colonial days in 1512 where militiamen would guard their homes and colonies, however, the Unites States Congress didn't officially create a "Military" until September 29,1789. The US Military is sometimes frustratingly slow to grasp new and useful concepts, due to the fact that they are seeped in "military traditions" . However in the 1990's, right about the time that quantitative research started gaining popularity, military leaders started to take periodic looks at how operations were going, how personnel felt about where the services are heading and how the ...
