1. AS Media Evaluation Question 5
How did you attract/address your audience?
We created a questionnaire and gave it out to those who were in our aimed target audience
to see what sort of things they wanted to see in a thriller film. Looking back at the results we
found out that the audience wanted us to create a lot of tension and suspense within our
opening and this was important to us as it was what the audience wanted to see most and
you mostly make a filmso that the audience likes it so they will watch it so in order to do
this we had to put our audience on edge and that is what we done from the start this being
with the first thing that the audience sees is knives on the floor and this here already is
creating huge suspense as it leaves the audience with questions like what is happening ?,
why are the knives there so this will attract them to the filmeven more. We also attracted
the audience through the use of teenagers and this was because if we used teenagers we
had hoped that it would make it more relatable to our target audience them being
teenagers . I believe that our opening attracted the audience so much that they would want
to carry on watching after the opening has ended and this is through the use of the
unknown the fact that the audience don’t know who the boy dressed in all black Is it leaves
questions in their heads such as who is he, why is he following the main character what is he
going to do to the main character and just the fact that the unknown leaves multiple
questions in their minds that alone makes them want to watch the film so much more.
Another thing that I feel that we done well in attracting the audience was the
unpredictability of the storyline, we knew from just watching the opening that they
wouldn’t be able to predict what happens in the ending. We also attracted our audience to
our film through its editing of the opening , we edited our piece to make it look as if
somebody was recording from a camcorder and watching the main character which made it
seem like he was being followed and this was created by adding a basic effect on a program
called final cut pro( with a screenshot of what we are talking about)
