Marketing Plan - Social Media. The Sparks Foundation
Evaluation, Question 1
1.
2. Fair Play Vs. Q Magazine
Masthead:
Like Q magazine, I have a caption to my
masthead. I did this as I think this creates
a sense of relaxation and introduces the
magazine better than just having a simple masthead. I also chose similar colours to
use on my masthead as Q magazine, just switched around a little. These colours, for
me, are appropriate for my chosen audience. However, unlike Q magazine my
masthead is two words, rather than just one letter. I chose to do this because I
wanted my masthead to use words to connote a sense of respect and pride, hence
‘Fair Play’. I decided to use a font called mistral, as it is simple but stylish and
connotes enjoyment, relaxation and simplicity.
3. Fair Play Vs. Q Magazine
Central Image
Q magazine use a range of different shots and styles for their central images.
However, the most common is a mid close up. This is different to mine; I have
chosen a medium shot. I felt a medium shot was an appropriate shot because it
shows just the right amount of the model to see their body language and their
emotions.
4. Fair Play Vs. Q Magazine
Layout- Contents Page
My contents page layout is very similar to the layout of a particular Q magazine
contents page. I have the contents down the left hand side, a single image on the
right hand side and the masthead, issue number, date, etc. at the very top. I chose to
use a layout like this as it is organised but not necessarily completely tidy. A lot of
music magazines that I’ve analysed have many images on the contents
page, however I wanted to attract the readers to a particular article. My front cover
also has a similar layout to an NME front cover. The layout of my whole magazine
connotes a sense of fun but also relaxation; I have some text, etc. that’s dotted about
but everything is organised.
5. Fair Play Vs. Q Magazine
Language
I have taken a rather informal and chatty approach to my magazine. I want
the readers to feel at ease and relaxed, so I don’t want them to have to
concentrate too hard reading lots of complicated articles. However, as my
audience is 16-24 year olds, my language does involve a bit of
sophistication, as I don’t want the readers to feel patrionised. This is very
much like most music magazines, especially Q magazine.
