According to research done by the National University of Singapore the pyramids are only 3/60 of a
degree off of true south. Another group contributing to the science of astronomy were the Chinese.
The Chinese have been observing the sky for several thousand years. They are the oldest civilization
with a continuous astronomical record. They have many amazing records, one including the first
documented solar eclipse (over 4,000 years ago in 2,136 B.C.) They also recorded the first planetary
grouping in 500 B.C. Planetary grouping is the planets separated into two groups. The inner and

Cassiopeia is the constellation I have chosen. It is a very interesting constellation, comprised of
various stars named with a Greek letter followed by Cassiopeiae (e.g. Alpha Cassiopeiae). The stars
also have various traditional names of other origin, for instance Alpha is traditionally called Shedir
from Arabic. I chose the constellation partly because I like the name, but it also has interesting
origins and I am glad I looked up more details about it.
Cassiopeia is not just comprised of stars, though, as there are also nebulae and supernova remnants
(including that of Tycho's Star). As Cassiopeia is made up of many different celestial objects, it is
not possible to say exactly how far away it is; however, its closest star (Eta) is 19.42 light years

Cassiopeia is said to have been the wife of King Cepheus of Ethiopia. She boasted that she and her
daughter were more beautiful than the nymph–daughters (Nereids) of Nereus, which angered
Poseidon, who decided to destroy the kingdom of Ethiopia.

Exploring Cassiopeia's Creation Myth
I have chosen Cassiopeia as my favorite constellation. The reason why i chose this constellation is
firstly because I find it very easy to find in the sky due to its M or W shape ( depending on the
season ), and secondly, because it is one of the first constellation on which I made a research on it's
creation myth. Cassiopeia is still to this day one of the 88 recognized constellations by the
International Atrsonomical Union.
Cassiopeia has a Greek mythology, her name comes from Cassiopeia wife of Cepheus and queen of

The constellation, Cassiopeia, the Queen, is found in the northern sky relatively close to the north
celestial pole. This constellation is circumpolar for all sky watchers who live above 40 degrees north
latitude. Cassiopeia borders the constellations Cepheus (the King), Camelopardalis (the Giraffe),
Perseus (the Hero), and Andromeda (the Princess).
In Greek mythology, Cassiopeia was the queen of Ethiopia. When she boasted that her daughter

For amateur stargazers, September through March are the optimal months for spotting Cassiopeia. In
the southern hemisphere, the constellation is visible from May to August at locations north of the
Tropic of Capricorn (23.5 degrees south latitude).
The easiest way to identify this constellation is to find the North Star (Polaris), which is at the end of
the Little Dipper's tail. The Little Dipper is the most noticeable feature of the constellation Ursa
Minor. As a reminder, Polaris is always as many degrees above the northern horizon as you are north
of the equator. Look approximately two hand widths or so away at the area of sky opposite the Little

Perseus is alive and is in Argos. Zeus refuses to protect his son since he is residing in enemy
territory. Later on, Cepheus imprisons Perseus, because he will not fight with Argos against the
gods. In order to punish King Cepheus for his war on the gods, Zeus disguised himself as Acrisius,
seduced Danae and impregnating her. Acrisius later sets Danae and the baby Perseus adrift in their
coffin. After learning that killing the Kraken would allow him to have his revenge against Hades,
who he blames for his family's deaths, Perseus agrees to lead Argos's finest soldiers on a quest to
find the Kraken. Hades then finds Acrisius, now called Calibos, and reveals his plan to use the
Kraken to destroy Argos. Hades imbues Calibos with superhuman powers in order to kill Perseus.
While in the woods with his soliders, Perseus discovers a sword in Olympus, as well as Zeus's
sacred herd of Pegasi. Perseus refuses the offering of the sword and a Pegasus as assistance because
Perseus does not wish to become a god. While, Calibos then tries to kill Perseus, Draco cuts off his
hand, but Calibos' blood transforms into giant scorpions, which attack Perseus and kill all of his

recognize these compelling constellations from all aspects of the world.Orion is seen throughout the
atmosphere with the brightest contents of stars. Scorpios are well known for its neighboring Zodiac
constellations. The Cassiopeia constellation lies dearly amongst the Northern latitudes. These three
unique constellations are incredibly fascinating and are at their best in the night sky.
Orion has an incredible history to be discovered including its brightest stars and is seen due to its
informative size. In Greek–Roman mythology, the hunter, Orion was a famed hunter, but he was
also boastful and went too far as to claim no creature could kill him. Next, is that Orion includes the
Bela Orionis star and the well–known Trapezium Cluster, one of the most prominent asterisms in the
night sky – Orion's Belt. In addition, the Orion constellation is the twenty–sixth constellation in size
and is seen in the first quad drum of the Northern Hemisphere. In summary, Orion includes an

I chose the constellation Cassiopeia because it is a constellation that I already heard about but I did
not know its history. So, it is a constellation, discover by Ptolemy, which are makes up of 5 main
stars. These stars have the form of a "W" or a "M" depending of its position.

She was the queen of Aethiopia. She was married to the king Cepheus and they had one daughter,

than the Nereids, the sea nymphs. In order to punish her for her proudness, Poseidon decided to
