This document discusses different types of academic writing and distance education. 2. INTRODUCTION
Some university offers different programs through distance education. This
methodology uses media and technological mediations for the student to further their
studies at any age, in any place and from where you are.
Similarly, distance learning allows students to advance their education and play while
an occupation or any other occupation, or devoted exclusively to the study, if conditions
permit.
Moreover the distance learning is an opportunity for those vulnerable and remote
populations in our territory, to be benefited from these programs and can access their
studies using technological means to give us the information.
3. DISTANCE EDUCACION
Distance education is a form of education in which students are not required to
physically attend the place of study. In this system of education students receive the
study material (in person, by mail, email or other Internet facilities), allowing the
educational act New techniques and strategies student-centered learning itself are used,
so it encouraging self-education and self-management, ie, is a flexible and self-directed
education, whose main tools are the technologies of communication and information.
Learning developed new communication technologies is called e-learning. The most
currently used for this mode is Moodle platform.
Depending from the school, students can physically go for tutoring or classroom tests
must be performed. There is distance education for any level of education, but the most
usual is being conducted for college.
Distance education takes up the approaches to equal access to education. The inability
of many students arrive at university has made this approach students, shortening the
distance. Maybe that's why, rather than distance education, you should talk about
education without distance.
Distance education is characterized by the flexibility of their schedules, for the same
student organizes study time, which requires a degree of self-discipline. This flexibility
of schedules sometimes is limited in certain courses that demand participation online in
schedules or specific spaces.
Another feature of distance education is the use of information and communications
technology (ICT) to form communities or networks of study where individuals can
interact, promoting the educational use of social networks, forums and virtual platforms
to discuss various issues and also acquire knowledge and modern tools. It is also
essential to have a new vision of the roles of teachers and students in this type of study,
the teacher ceases to be the protagonist, becoming a facilitator of the educational
process and gives way to the student, which must have a firm commitment to their own
learning process.
4. Conclusions
Students and teachers have the opportunity to interact more with new technologies,
accessing information much more quickly, achieving an autonomous and learning pace
of each student.
Distance education students stimulates the development of various skills, such as
communicating (interpret and produce messages) utilizing different languages and
media, develop personal autonomy and a critical spirit, which helps him to live in a
multicultural society and fair with their own technological innovations of the time.
Directs and controls the learning process and helps control the student contributing to
the formative development of students, development of creativity, your mental activity,
attitudes and values.
