WHAT IS AUTHENTIC TASK?
 Students acquire high-order thinking skills easily and faster when they build their own learning
 Learning-by-doing has become the most effective way to learn

SKILLS IN WHICH THAT THE SKILL WILL BE USED.
• AUTHENTIC TASK ALLOWS LEARNERS TO APPLY NEW LEARNING TO THEIR CURRENT
PRACTICES AND FUTURE ASSIGNMENT.
• STUDENTS CAN MAKE DIRECT CONNECTIONS BETWEEN NEW MATERIAL AND THEIR PRIOR
EXPERINCES.
• IT PROVIDES THE LEARNERS WITH THE OPPOURTUNITY TO COLLABORATE WHICH
CONTRIBUTES TO GROWTH AD LEARNING.

HISTORY GRADE 11:APARTHEID IN SOUTH AFRICA.
1948-1994
LESSON OBJECTIVES:
1. 1.To understand the events that led to the
creation of an independent South Africa.
2. 2.To understand the policy of apartheid and its
impact.
3. 3.To understand what caused the end of
apartheid and the challenges that remain.
4. 4.Learners need to understand each an every
apartheid laws that emerged during that time.
TOPIC OF THE DAYAPARTHEID LAWS:BETWEEN BLACKS AND WHITES.
• In 1948 the white Boer government
introduced APARTHEID. These were laws
that kept whites and blacks separate.
SEPARATION:A WHITE PERSON AND A BLACK PERSON COULD NOT MARRY EACH OTHER DUE TO SKIN COLOUR.COULD NOT SIT IN THE RESTAURANT TOGETHER, OR SIT TOGETHER ON A BUS.
BLACK CHILDREN AND WHITES WENT TO DIFFERENT SCHOOLS.
BLACKS WERE GIVEN THE WORSE FACILITIES!
NELSON MANDELA WHO WAS ARRESTED IN ROBBEN ISLAND THE REASON IS THAT HE WANTED EQUALITY AMONGST ALL
RACES. ROAD TO DEMOCRACY!!!!!!
• FINALLY!!!!!!!! 27 years of prison he was finally released in 1990
MANDELA WANTED TO STOP THE FIGHTING AND ANGER AND UNITE SOUTH AFRICA. HE BROUGHT
TOGETHER BLACK AND WHITE.
• “We shall build the society in which all South Africans, both black and white, will be able to
walk tall, without any fear in their heart.”
1994 ELECTIONS BLACKS WERE GIVEN THE RIGHT TO VOTE.NELSON MANDELA BECOME FIRST
BLACK PRESIDENT IN 1994.
NEW SOUTH AFRICA: UNITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
