Title: From Trash to New Product Exhibit
Target Respondents: Grade 6
Title of the Learning Activity and
The Target Respondents
What did you hope your students
would learn from this activity?
At the end of the activity, the students are able to:
 Know the benefits of environmental monitoring
through recycling.
 Create a product by using trash materials.
 Share their ideas in recycling through ICT.
 Communicate by advertising their product.
 Aware in waste reduction, recycling and cultivating
their behavioral change.
Did you have learning goals from
more than one discipline?
This activity has learning goals in Science, English
and Values Education.
For science, the students are expected to do the task
through scientific method.
For English, the students will enhance their
communication skills by advertising and sharing the
idea of the product.
For values education, the students will enhance their
awareness on waste reduction, recycling and
Were the students required to work in
pairs or as a group on any part of this
activity?
The students are required to work in a group.
They are divided according to what type of
recycled materials they will use like woods,
plastics, papers, bottles and cans. They will
present a product that was assigned to them
like made up of plastic and so on. Each
student should share materials that will be
used in the exhibit. Each group should divide
the task and responsibility evenly and create
an original and interesting product that
adequately addresses the theme of the exhibit.
Were students allowed to work
with ICT?
Students need to work with ICT as
an addition to their requirement.
They will promote their own
theme in Facebook.
What criteria did you use to judge the quality of
students’ work on this learning activity? Were
students aware of the criteria in advance of
completing the learning activity?
For this activity, we developed a checklist for
the group exhibit. Their exhibition will be judged
according to the appearance of the exhibit,
craftsmanship, knowledge of the product and
advertisement. We also added to the checklist
about their output that they will upload in
Facebook by using comments, likes, and share.
And lastly, we made a cooperative group
assessment.
How long did their learning activity
take?
The activity requires 1 week for
completion.
What verbal instructions did you give the
students?
The exhibition is all about being aware of what they
are using in their daily living. They are going to make
an exhibit using recycled materials; all of them must
work on it. This activity will help them to become
resourceful; it will help them also to maximize the use
of materials. The advertisement will help them in
enhancing their communication skills together with
their Facebook integration.
Time Table of the Activity
Day 1 Making theme of their exhibit; approval
of the teacher
Day 2 Planning for what they will do in their
exhibit
Day 3 Assigning of the task
