Media Role Models and the Effect on Children
Media construct our culture, and the media we use to communicate with one another shapes our
perception of reality. Our society is centered on media, it is the most influential factor in
constructing our culture, but is it a positive culture? If we examine the effect that media has on
children, we can say that it breeds a harmful culture, one that throws values and morals out the
window. This is because the media is profit driven and has developed its own code of ethics of
"anything–goes". As a result, children are exposed to things that they should not necessarily be
exposed to yet and as a result it rushes their mental development and in fact moulds their mentality.
This is a scary fact because these children's minds are susceptible ... Show more content on

Another example we could look at is Britney Spears, young girls who like Britney Spears think that
she is ‘cool' and thus they strive to be just like her, and this involves acting like Britney and more
importantly buying Britney Spears products such as her clothing. So in conclusion these media
personalities are popular among children and idolized by them because they are promoted as being
cool and for a child to be cool they must be just like them, which involves buying their products.
These media personalities are in essence products themselves that the media bodies try to sell to
children on the basis of ‘cool', and once they can be sold to the children as being cool, their entire
franchise benefits because their image can create the demand for all products with their likeness.
Now let's look at the effect that these media personalities have on children in the age group 5 and
under. We assume that children are safe watching educational programming such as "Blue's Clues",
"Dora the explorer" and "Teletubbies", but are they really as safe as we think they are. First off,
these types of television shows are educational and do in fact teach young children while keeping
them entertained. This can be seen as a positive influence on our kids and these characters as being

Britney Spears : A Sociocultural Perspective
The sociocultural perspective focuses on the impact of social and cultural context on an individual.
The theory stresses the interaction between developing people and the culture in which they live.
This theory suggests that human development is largely involved with social process
("Contemporary Psychology: Sociocultural Perspective," n.d.). That can produce variation or
proliferation without any seemingly significant changes in complexity. Through time, producing a
form of structure can be qualitatively different from the ancestral form. For example, if someone
grew up kissing each other goodbye, they will most likely pass that onto your children. As a thirty–
five year old, caucasian female, Britney came from an unstable home life. ... Show more content on

As she grew up into a superstar, a massive amount of ordinary people started to take interest in her
lifestyle. In the sociocultural perspective, the state of gender impacts the way a person acts (Rathus,
2010). As a female celebrity, the media exploits her body image for other viewers. According to the
American Sociological Association, media outlets "report on celebrities' bodies and fashion styles,
sometimes offering a price and purchasing information to assist imitative consumption" (Kurzman,
2007). For Britney, the paparazzi feeds on her lifestyle for the demand of people interested in the
life she lives. Due to the capitalist mindset of the media, Britney felt that she had no escape from the
bombardment of other people. The environment of a popstar evidently shows factors of stress that
caused her outrages. The Sociocultural Perspective explains Britney Spears's case because she grew
up in a bad home environment. Spears grew up with an alcoholic and verbally abusive father (Surge,
2016). This event led to her picking up the same bad habits of her father, and become an alcoholic.
Instead of the rage, she just lost herself. It is hard to imagine being in that position. Everyone's eyes
always on everyone else's, their every move being monitored, making sure they do not say anything
irreversible. Due to her manager, the paparazzi were always around her. At the time, her manager
would leak her location to the paparazzi, knowing that she was having a

Personal Statement Of David Lachapelle
All of my life I have had a passion for music and fashion, and have always searched for ways to
drench myself in domains that reflect a competitive and fast– paced industry. My interest in art,
photography, and celebrity music videos, has often led me to the name David LaChapelle. But until
I pursued a photography course last year I never knew the depth of who he was.
American born David LaChapelle, is an outstanding contemporary photographer, music video
director, film director and artist. His work is often seen as strange and delightful, yet profoundly
odd. Huge numbers of his photos are digitally upgraded and frequently contain nudity. He has an
intriguing comical inclination about him, which he regularly includes in his work. He commends the

Personal Narrative: A Lust For Meaning
I feel like there are many people who strive to adhere to a "live while you're young" mentality, but
once they reach a certain age, that lust for life fizzles out. Perhaps because life tends to beat so many
down throughout the years, snatching away skyscraping hopes to replace with losses and
disappointments, some older folks begin to resent the youth for all of their promise and dreamy
ideals. I do not believe that it should be this way. Just because a person has seen many years go by
in his or her lifetime, it does not mean that all of that person's potential, ambition, and goal–oriented
thinking should just evaporate. A number does not define you, for only how you use the wisdom of
your years to pursue each day to the fullest does. Everyday is a new and valuable opportunity to go
after what you want in life, especially since not everyone is lucky enough to wake up to meet the
sunrise each morning. One must always remember that you only truly begin to age when you turn
your back on all of the knowledge and possibilities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I love how the holiday spirit is so apparent within everyone's heart, home, and homes away from
home and they way people come together to settle strife, even if only for a short period of time, to
share in the air of warmth and happiness. I adore all of the decorations, the commercials, the songs,
the shop displays, as everything seems to be filled with pure magic. Naturally, I also love the charity
and gift giving between family and friends. Just last Christmas, my friends and I had a holiday party
where we laughed, ate delicious desserts we made for each other, exchanged gifts, and just enjoyed
each other's company. I feel like everyone's attitude is so much more hopeful and jolly around
Christmas time, and I wish we could all work to carry that cheerful disposition all throughout the
year, not just for a few weeks out of the

Transforming and Beyond: Katy Perry and Britney Spears
When artists go through an emotional down fall in there career's you see some stars fall and other's
reflect to back when it all started to better themselves. As Katy Perry stated in her interview with
U.S.A Today Prism is "less over–the–top and more "me"". I have come to realize that when artist
put out an album, it isn't just to see how many copies they can sell but it's about making music with
feelings, getting into there inner self and reaching out to those who admire them, the social text of
the music is the heart of every song and the album altogether. A lot of the time artist will write about
their emotions but never really behind the sense of what occurred. Here I will take two artists and

Both of her parents being pastors, Katy growing up was never able to listen or hear music that
wasn't anything other than Christian. So how did she get to where she is today is what you might be
thinking. How has her musical context inspired other? It's a simple word to describe it, Katie
rebelled. She rebelled against everything that was imbedded into her as a child and went over
everything that her parents tried to keep her away from. Making music that was homosexual
friendly and really reaching to those who felt trapped inside. Katie made everyone feel special like
she really understood what is was to come out and be different. Her words inspired many from this
generation to know, and feel that being "different" or out of the ordinary is okay. With her latest
album she took a bit of a spin but still kept true to her message. In her latest album named Prism
Katy showed her fan's that's she is just like the rest of us. The album goes to describe her dark
struggles with her divorce. How she felt so down at one point, that she felt like she didn't want to be
a part of this world anymore. This inspired many seeing this side of Katy, many felt her pain
through the songs and others related to it. This Album caught the eye of many because she let those
who listen understand that she is also human too, that just because she is constantly on the spotlight
doesn't mean she doesn't feels just like we do. But how is she able to

The Use of Pathos, Ethos and Logos in Advertising Essay
Nowadays, commercial is becoming a major part of mass media. It does not only try to inform
people about the availability and attractiveness of industrial good productions but also contribute to
build an awareness of resources and alternatives for customer in daily life. There are thousands of
commercials, so to attract customer, advertisers use various kinds on their commercial to make
people aware of the firm's products, services or brands. Though they use various kinds on the
commercial, the main goal of advertising tries to convince customer to buy their products, or do
what they want. An excellent commercial will create a deep impression on their customers, or who

"Perfect Dress" by Marisa de los Santos Essay
Perfect: adj. ˈpər–fikt 1. Entirely without any flaws, defects, or shortcomings, is the first definition
you find on dictionary.com for the word (perfect). Is this actually possible to attain? Has anyone
actually ever been perfect? Or is it all in the eye of the beholder? These questions are asked by
almost every girl, as we dream to one day reach the unattainable. This is especially true at the tender
age of fifteen, where nothing seems to be going right with our bodies and everything is changing in
us. This poem stresses the fact that as everyone realizes how unrealistic this dream is, the
knowledge makes no difference to the wish. Marisa de los Santos comments on this in her poem
"Perfect Dress". The use of verbose imagery, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The type of woman, any young woman would kill to look like when they grow up. As this may be
unrealistic for most women, it is still a dream that everyone wishes they could achieve, especially as
stated before, the young girls who are dying to find their perfect selves in a world of Cosmo and
glamour. Without this intense use of imagery, this poem would not be nearly as effective in
portraying the image Marisa de los Santos wants to.
As we look deeper into this poem, the metaphors portrayed throughout the poem stress just how
improbable these dreams are in the chance of becoming a reality. Santos describes her imagined
runway model as "leggy, outworldly as a mantis" (9). While once again hitting on the imagery, also
compares this woman to that of the graceful creature that walks around on seemingly the thinnest
legs on earth. Picturing this woman is exactly how every Victoria's Secret model looks, as she glides
up and down the runway, inspiring jealousy in every elegant step she takes. This is the type of image
we are portraying to the young women of our generation. No wonder our dreams are being
overshadowed by the reality we live in. She goes on to portray "a head/ like a Faberge egg on the
longest, most elegant neck" (9–10). She compares the face of perfection to Peter Carl Faberge's
most renowned work, his golden jeweled eggs. How much more outlandish can we get? And yet we
imagine this to be how we should look, and spend the rest of our lives trying to

Oops, She Did It Again Essay
11 October 2010 Oops, She Did It Again Over the past decade, Britney Spears has gone downhill
little by little from becoming famous after being on Disney channel. While doing a case study on
Britney Spears, I learned the music industry stole away her innocence and molded it into an attempt
to transition from a pop princess to a sexy adult performer that would sweep millions. Her
overexposure and paparazzi frenzy causes her to go insane because she has no privacy. Additionally,
there is proof that Britney has had many psychotic breakdowns. Maybe the reason for her actions in
the past has to do with the fact her children being taken away from her custody and her career going
slowly down the drain. Also, she has been in a constant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

concerts for the Super bowl, MTV, and VMA music awards. In one of the VMA's, fans were
disgusted when Britney kissed Madonna. Only wearing a bra and a mini–skirt, the music industry
wanted her to be sexier as her fashion in clothing became unsuitable every time she recorded for a
new music video. In the year of 2004, Britney married her back–up dancer Kevin Federline. Shortly
afterwards, the newlyweds had their own reality show called Britney and Kevin: Chaotic. According
to an interview with MSNBC, Britney claims her marriage was an act of rebellion saying, "I was on
the road for awhile and again I was doing a lot of what I was told instead of what I wanted to really
do. And I didn't know how to break out of that. So in my young mind I'm like, I'm gonna just get
married to someone of my home friends. You know what I mean? It was just like something. But I
have no regrets with anything I've ever done" (Spears). Two years after marriage, Britney files for a
divorce with Kevin because he was caught partying with other girls. Assuming she was depressed
over the divorce and annoyed by the paparazzi, Britney gains weight, surprisingly shaves her head,
then checks into a rehab center. Britney's cry for help caught the media's attention so they kept

One of cinema's most unexpected, artistically fertile iterations in the 21st century is the viral video,
a Warholian flash of lightning: brief, often concept–less, zigzagging across the globe on bright

Meliesian pioneer is a mercurial figure whose fifteen minutes of fame has miraculously protracted

Self–Promotion and Celebrity Endorsements of Healthy Lifestyles
In his book Celebrity and Power: Fame in Contemporary Culture, P. David Marshall states "The
close scrutiny that is given to celebrities is to accentuate the possibility and potential for individuals
to shape themselves unfettered by the constraints of a hierarchical society" (246). Therefore,
celebrities are seen as role models for a lifestyle that might never be fully attainable by the average
person, but can be imitated. What is ironic then is that following a celebrity–endorsed lifestyle does
not create individuality, but reduces it. While celebrities endorse products, they also appear in
advertisements which promote a healthy lifestyle where through the abstinence ... Show more

Both phrases are denotationally persuasive, letting parent know that following what is said in the ad
will lead to happy children and good parent–child relationships. The way to achieve this is by
reading the information, but also buying concert tickets and supporting the band. As well, near the
bottom of the advertisement, the tag line "We All Make a Difference" appears under the Budweiser
logo. By adding this in, parents can also be persuaded to enjoy the beer responsibly as the company
projects itself through this advertisement as one that is concerned for the health and safety of
children. In all these ways, the linguistic messages of the advertisement go well beyond promoting
the cause, but also promote the celebrity endorsers, and in this case, the product which the
advertisement is deterring children from.
The iconic messages in the advertisement are also at work to achieve the cross–promotional result.
The non–coded Budweiser logo works in conjunction with the tag line "We All Make a Difference"
as discussed above, to promote the brand of beer. What is more interesting however, is the use of the
band's image as a coded message. Each of the five band members are looking directly at the reader,

certainly has been one of the most "put on public display" breakdowns in recent entertainment
history. I was talking to my children last night about how truly sad the whole situation is, and how
more people need to comprehend that even if they were never a fan of Britney or her music, they
still need to realize that this is a person who is struggling and definitely in need of help. I have read
countless statements by people who have gone as far as to say that she should just "give up and die
already.....I 'm tired of hearing about it." That is one of the more appalling statements I 've seen. I
will go on record as saying I have not ever been a fan of her music, or thought she has made the best
choices in her personal life perhaps (at least in how these things were portrayed in public), but in no
way would I wish what she is going through on any human being. As someone who interviews
musicians all the time, and now 1 celeb as well, it is more than ever clear to me that they are regular
people like the rest of us. Would we expect to be treated that way if we were struggling? Does being

While both performers are singers by trade, both have been ridiculed for their vocal abilities in
comparison to their contemporaries. Madonna and Spears both receive constant criticism for using a

over a pre–recorded track, during most live performances with heavy choreography.
While Madonna was being compared to Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston, Spears was competing
with her contemporaries like Christina Aguilera or even Jennifer Lopez. However, in 1987
Madonna's Who's That Girl tour earned her $25 Million in US ticket sales in comparison to
Houston's $20.1 Million earned for her Moment of Truth tour that same year. (Thakur 168)

How Authentic Images Of Artists Are Within The Music Industry
1. Discussion
Intro:
The following discussion will aim to answer the question of how authentic the images of artists are
within the music industry. The question stemmed from research about identity work, in particular
within the creative industries. Artists are faced with a lot of identity struggles and tensions which a
lot of creative people encounter as well. The main prevailing issue or tension creative people
constantly encounter that is unresolved is creativity versus commerce. This idea describes the way
in which the process of creativity is being overshadowed and ignored. Art for art's sake is no longer
ax powerful term as it once was as the capital gain of creativity has taken over. A great example of
this happening is related to music artists. Most if not all music artists within the industry are
exploited and taken advantage of by recording companies due to contracts. The company owns
almost every aspect about an artist including their image when under some type of recording
contract. This means the artists image may be in fact be inauthentic and this in turn is the main point
of research for this discussion. Points about the tensions artists face and if these tensions ever get
resolved will also be raised throughout the discussion as well.
Authenticity of an artist's image
The main point to be explored within this presentation is how authentic a music artist's image or
identity really is. A key piece of research to look into in order to explore this idea is a

Tragic Heros: Britney Spears As A Tragic Hero
Tragic heros have to start out as a success, making them a 'hero' and they usually have some sort of
outstanding quality or greatness. Then, they experience a downfall and that could be associated with
a flaw that this person has, giving them the 'tragic' characteristic. At the end of it all, the downfall
will have had a huge impact, not only on the 'tragic hero' but the people around them. Britney

Essay about Celebrity Role Models and Children
During these times, once you turn on your television set you are abruptly notified on yet another
absurd act that a celebrity had committed the night before. The media becomes engrossed by the
despicable behavior and ravages at it as if it was the final grain of rice. Once they have completed a
story that is at the right level of crudeness, they deliver it to the public. The vulgar news reaches
households all across the world, and then it soon pollutes the minds of innocent and young children.
At a young age, boys and girls commonly compare themselves with reference groups of people who
occupy the social role to which they desire. The constant negative and sometimes provocative
images that are displayed by celebrities are what define ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the pop sensation, Britney Spears, was arrested five times in 2006 for driving while
intoxicated. Britney Spears is one of 156 celebrities that are arrested per year for the same charges.
If a child observes these crimes enacted by the celebrities, the actions demonstrate activities that can
lead to jail time and deeply affect their future. In conclusion, a boy or girl should not look up to
celebrities for their immoral and scandalous enterprises. In order to be a commendable role model,
you must have the courage to perform what is virtuous. Although it may be difficult in front of all
the lights and cameras, celebrities fail to have this trait and consequently cannot be seen as
exemplars. Under any circumstance a role model must put the right foot forward and direct its
followers to a better way of life. Famous people are consistently infected with what is known as the
"stardom disease". Despite a strong promise to stay moral, celebrities always find themselves
spiraling into some form of turmoil. The cause of their downfalls is that they do not have the
fortitude to remain on the righteous path and avoid doing what is wrong. Britney Spears did not
have the bravery to reject the idea of getting drunk and marrying off to a man she did not truly love.
As a result, her actions reflect her weakness and

Essay on Sexual Exploitation of Women in the Media
Sexual Exploitation of Women in the Media
Women are sexually exploited in the media. In today's society if people watch television programs
such as Chingy featuring Snoop & Ludacris – Holidae; Charlie's Angels; the Z100 commercial with
Britney Spears; or Baywatch they will see that the feminine image is presented differently than the
masculine. In these programs men are typically placed in sexual situations fully clothed, while
women are presented in provocative clothing or less. The camera will frequently zoom in on body
parts to focus on the woman's buttocks, midriff, and legs. Society is still dominated by men who
control what people see. As a result women are increasingly portrayed as sex symbols as a way for a

In 1998, $1billion was spent online on "adult content," 69 percent of the total Internet content sales.
In most commercial advertisements on television, women show more skin than men. Commercials
use women to sell sex because it attracts more attention than men showing their bodies. For
instance, Britney Spears, a singer whom many teenagers admire, appeared in a music commercial
for Z100, the number one radio station in New York. Z100 promotes commercially hot music in
modes such as pop, rock, and R&B. In Z100's new commercial, Britney Spears is wearing a beige
outfit consisting of a tight tube top and small shorts that accent her chest and buttocks. After talking
for a moment, she starts dancing with her back facing the camera. Viewers are visually drawn to the
shape of her body. As spokesperson for Z100, Britney Spears is being used as a marketing tool to
attract men and increase ratings. Z100 could have had a popular male in its commercial. Instead the
company's executives chose a popular woman known for her hourglass figure because men prefer to
look at young, shapely, nubile women.
Television shows concentrate more and more on physical imagery showing women and their bodies
exposed in an effort to increase ratings. The show Baywatch is about lifeguards, both men and
women, working on the beach, but the females wear tight and particularly revealing bikinis. When
the show first came out, it was taken seriously as

little, after his wife tells him that she will be home in twenty minutes, he gets a flashback to a time
where he was waiting for his mom in the same amount of time. And that's when he got the blue
elephant5. The elephant can symbolize freedom, peace and happiness, which he is looking for. It
was a gift from his mother, and she had been gone for a long while, so when she came back it
brought joy and hope in him. Therefore the elephant is meaningful and also the light in his dark

interest him.6 He is not pleased with the way his life is, because it wasn't the way he planned it to

work is unwanted. Ken Follett's introduction to the 1999 edition of The Pillars of the Earth can be

bra than to an actual shirt. She is lying prostrate upon the floor with the photographer snapping

As Britney's veneer of a bubblegum pop princess fades, she has resorted to shedding more and more

The media, which consists of television, radio and the newspaper, is referred to as a form of

able to present information at any time either promoting it in a positive or negative light. The media
is also known for presenting fake news, however due to the fact that they are communicating to the

Another negative portrayal of mental illnesses within the media would be the celebrity Britney
Spears. Over the years it has been suggested that the global pop icon suffers from a wide range of
mental illnesses, from Bipolar Disorder and Manic Depression to Borderline Personality Disorder
and even Postpartum Psychosis. Britney Spears has been subjected to media humilation following a
string of divorces which lead to her Bipolar being triggered. Bipolar, which is 'known in the past as
manic depression, is a condition that affects your moods, which can swing from one extreme to

In early January of 2007 Britney Spears's aunt died of cancer, this could have been the trigger to
Britney's mental illnesses as just one month later she drastically shaved her head and was then

checked herself out. 'The next year was filled with tragedy. She was involved in car accidents,

Britney Spears as Role Model for All Women Essay
Britney Spears' prevalence as a pre–teen pop culture icon cannot be denied or ignored. Spears, along
with her colleagues Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore and many others, are ever
present on the "Top 40," make frequent appearances on MTV, and can often be found on magazine
covers and in photo spreads. Spears is especially popular among pre–teen girls, who buy her
records, singing and dancing along to the lyrics. These lyrics often deal with love, lust, and sex–
topics some consider too mature for the young girls targeted by Spears' marketing. Young women
today are maturing at increasingly earlier ages, and the sexual messages in Spears' songs may

When speaking about early pop music songs, she explains "although they were mass–produced they
were individually interpreted. The songs were ours–but the were also everyone else's...we found
solidarity as girls" (499). This certainly holds true for Spears' songs. Spears is often criticized for
having mass–produced songs that someone else wrote for her. However, these songs have mass
appeal which Douglas considers a strength. Pre–teen girls, in the midst of forging an identity among
their peers can certainly find solidarity by singing out the words to "Hit Me Baby One More Time"
together. At the very least, Spears' music will serve to unite women twenty years from now who will
still know all the words to the catchy tunes as they play over the oldies radio station.
At the same time, depending on each girl's individual knowledge and experience, the songs will be
interpreted differently. The lyrics give voice to a range of emotions that girls may have and be
unable to express otherwise. Another positive quality of pop music is that it can give conflicting
emotions a voice, something that can aid in the process of growing up. As Douglas put it, girl
groups "gave voice to all the warring selves inside us struggling, blindly and with a crushing sense
of insecurity, to forge something resembling a coherent identity...girl group music let us try on and

Sophistication and Flair: The True Meaning of Beauty
Three words come to mind when one sees the epitome of Hollywood's A–List – sophistication,
style, and confidence. Although the media will always pose celebrities as sex symbols, tasteful
images have now become a norm for today's society. A woman's beauty is now being portrayed in
other ways – fully clothed and self–assured. It is evident now even as I look around campus. The
girls who are poised and classy do not prance around in belly shirts and mini skirts. It's all about a

It's all about how one acts. For instance, Britney Spears, once an icon for young girls, has been
recently depicted as offensive and distasteful in her clothing and manner. It is now women such as
those portrayed in the movie The Devil Wears Prada who are admired by young teens. The
characters in the movie played by Meryl Streep and Anne Hatheway gave successful, working
women an enticing edge when they mixed their confident attitudes with classy style. They appeal to
all genders and ages because they are women who know what they want – they don't need to be
naked to get it. They dress urbanely and conservatively. They radiate beauty through their character
– not through their lack of attire. Although the trend is slowing disappearing, many magazines such
as Rolling Stone will always portray women as sex symbols. We will probably never see the day

In the eyes of the world, Britney presents herself with a divided personality. In private she appears
shy and insecure, while in public she seems surprisingly fearless. When not performing, Britney
worries about how she looks when she goes to the store or shopping. She spends hours on her

uncomfortable for the sake of fashion all the time. "Pain is beauty." Some girls will do whatever it

of this silliness, is wearing stilettos. I haven't found one pair that are comfortable for more than 10

Is There Pressure On Music Artists Be Successful?
Is there pressure on music artists to be sexual in order to be successful? Introduction The music
industry can be an awfully harsh environment for young impressionable music artists. Along with
extremely impossible body image standards, some say there is an even bigger pressure to be
sexualised or objectified to be successful. There is no doubt that music artists have become more
and more sexualised in music videos and in the media in the last decade or so. Originally the
research topic was based around how much society is sexualised. The topic was then changed to the

Britney Spears Cultural Perspective
As a thirty–five year old, Caucasian female, Britney came from an unstable home life. Britney
Spears experienced major successes in her life, but went through some major losses. As a group, we
are analyzing the period in Spears's life that she seemed to break away from social norms and had
odd behaviors: such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse, vulgar public actions, and changes to her
appearance. We intend to approach this period in her life with a sociocultural perspective in order to

The sociocultural perspective focuses on the impact of social and cultural context on an individual.
The theory stresses the interaction between developing people and the culture in which they live.
The main founder and contributor to the sociocultural perspective was Lev Vygotsky. This theory
suggests that human development is largely involved with social process ("Contemporary
Psychology: Sociocultural Perspective," n.d.). That can produce variation or proliferation without
any seemingly significant changes in complexity. Through time, producing a form of structure can
be qualitatively different from the ancestral form. For example, a person who grew up kissing each
other goodbye will most likely pass that onto their children. The environment that Spears' has
experienced directly affected her rambunctious actions. In her childhood, she grew up in a
dysfunctional and disordered family due to the alcoholic rages of her father. From

Britney Spears Case Summary
Question 1
Even as a friend of the family, Dr. Phil didn't have the right to visit Britney at the hospital without
her consent and permission to see her and walk into her room. As a patient at the Cedar–Sinai
hospital, Britney was entitled to her privacy rights provided by the state. It was the obligation of the
hospital to ensure that no uninvited visitors were allowed in her chambers. Britney had already been
discharged from the facility and was packing to leave when Dr. Phil walked in while she was still
parking. The hospital should never have let Dr. Phil in to see her since she had already been
discharged and was on her way out, hence, no guests were allowed (Moskop et al., 2005). The
hospital had the obligation of ensuring that the only visitors who saw the patient were those
acceptable by the patient to ensure that visitors such as journalists didn't have access to the patient
that would jeopardize her rights of privacy and confidentiality.
Dr. Phil didn't have the right to make the comments he did. Just because Britney Spears is a
celebrity, this didn't give him any right to infringe her rights to confidentiality and privacy as a
patient at Cedar–Sinai Medical Center. The comments made by Dr. Phil sounds a psychological
judgment based on his professional expertise and is clearly wrong, unethical, and a violation of state

Phil regarding Britney Spears and her medical health. Dr. Phil had no right to discuss the mental
health of Britney as a friend or even as a psychologist. The statement given by Dr. Phil was his
professional opinion of the health of Britney and this is unethical and a violation of the medical
privacy of Britney as a patient. The statement he made disclosed her private and confidential
medical record that is a violation of the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
that prohibits all health workers from revealing any patient's medical

Into The Wild: A Short Story
After an exhaustive and tiresome show, a young Britney Spears was prepared to crumple on the
lounge chair in her changing area. Advancing toward the back of the amphitheater, the shouts of the
audience were reverberating in the halls, Britney rapidly snuck inside her changing area and
thudded down in her seat. Britney began scanning the room. These changing areas were beginning
to have striking resemblance to all the other rooms – a washroom/shower off to the side, a large
couch in the focal point of the room, a table covered with a wide range of food and beverages. It
was dependably the same as always and Britney was becoming weary of it. She was a pop star. She
was cherished by a large number of young ladies and by significantly more a large ... Show more

"Hi, as you probably already know, I'm Britney. The girl said you were from Teen Queen
Magazine?" Britney said, reaching her hand out to shake his. Her solid gold bracelet slid down her
arm and clinked a little as she extended it. The man received her hand, and shook it gently. His
touch was cold and clammy almost, something Britney was surprised at since it was so hot down
here under the stage. "I'm Rob and yes, I'm a photographer for the Teen Queen magazine," the man
said in a brazenly, deep voice. Britney got a closer look at him now – his face looked rugged and
well–defined, with smooth and clear skin and a slight scar from a cut extending from his upper lip at
a 45 degree angle towards his cheek. The man had to have been at least 25 but something in Britney
told her that he was older than that. "Ok Rob, what can I do for you?" Britney said, gesturing him
over to a chair by the food table. He sat down tenderly, his tall frame still not equal to Britney's short
stature. Britney felt like she was in the presence of the hulk. Robert gave a devilish smile at
Britney's comment, however it was a very sexy smile that caused his lips to reveal his perfectly

The Life of Britney Spears Essay
I have selected Britney Spears as my subject for the reason that I realize that she has been through
so much in her life and has a tendency to convey her emotions radically and live life on the edge
most of the times. Moreover, I find it simply fascinating to scrutinize Britney Spears' personality by
means of the Psychoanalysis so as to offer deeper comprehension in investigating her personality.
Even though this process of personality analysis is hardly ever employed today due to a deficiency
of empirical verification and a disappointment to deal with any adulthood impact on personality, the
approach's stress on childhood development is a long way from without foundation. It permits for a
fascinating and vibrant examination of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, Britney failed to notice a ton of things for example, not being consented to accomplish
the psychosexual stages as she thereon had attained a fear of being judged as peculiar in the public
eye, for the reason that she was so alert on her job and albeit she didn't recognize at the moment, it
had affected her in ways and that's where her regression and sexual needs burst out akin to a balloon
over–flooded with water. Britney's starting off point was only just the beginning of her future
tribulations. As she began to get older, Disney, as they at all times did, dropped her from the show,
only giving her a chance to move on to bigger and better things. Britney's Number one billboard
topper, "Oops I Did It Again" went international rapidly, permitting her to become a public
phenomenon. At the naïve age of seventeen, not only did she turn into a renowned pop singer, but an
enormous sex symbol as she wore very tight, bare clothing and was advertising her sexuality,
constantly. It wasn't pending a bit after in her career did the press commence in noticing the
unsteadiness behind the pop princess. During the years, Britney has showed signs of a great deal of
impulsive behavior, which would provide evidence for this allegation. In January 2004, for example
Britney married Jason Alexander, a childhood acquaintance, while on a trip

Britney Spears: Tragic Hero Almost everyone has some type of flaw, but not everyone's flaw is as
drastic as others. Possessing a flaw is completely normal as long as that flaw is kept under control,
not allowing it to cause a major downfall. Pop star Britney Spears has a drastic flaw that she
allowed to get out of hand which caused her downfall. Since a flaw she possessed caused her
downfall, she gained tons of unwanted attention from the press. This makes Britney Spears fall
under the definition of a tragic hero.
Britney Spear's rise to fame was one that is not easily forgotten. Britney started her career when she
was eleven years old. Britney landed an acting position ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

stop gaining the unwanted attention from the press, but to get her kids back as well. Britney did not
gain full custody of her two children, but she did eventually get to spend three days a week with

Britney Spears Research Paper
Britney Spears' life is spinning out of control! How could Britney Spears, whose music career began
with a good girl image, fall hopelessly into a destructive path that made her an unfit parent? Is the
temptation to live a fun filled life only granted when you are willing to do anything to please the
crowd? Or is Britney's ability to know the difference between good and bad been clouded by drugs
and alcohol?
A pop star entered the stage surrounded by dancers keeping rhythm with the drums, guitars and
keyboards. The high energy tempo of the music pulled each person out of their seats and made them
sway excitedly. As the words to the song filled the arena a look of unity paraded onto the faces of
the audience giving fuel to the music that was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can stop what you are doing now and start your game all over again. If you choose to do what
is right, you will be blessed.
Jesus is the light for a world that is filled with dark choices. Jesus helps us to enjoy music for the
sound and rhythm. To party for fun alone and not for getting high. He helps us to separate ourselves
from those who are rebellious and end up fighting with the justice system over custody of their
children like Britney Spears. Jesus Christ protects us from coming under the judgment that happens
to those who refuse to obey the spiritual laws that govern our societies.
Proverbs 2:6–8, "It is the Lord who gives wisdom; from him come knowledge and understanding.
He provides help and protection for righteous, honest men. He protects those who treat others fairly,
and guards those who are devoted to him."
What seemed like good fun turned out to be a heavy thick unyielding chain that took away their
ability to make right choices by addicting them to drugs and alcohol. The good news is that in a life
game you can stop what you are doing and start all over again! Choose to do what is right! God
loves

Media Role Models And The Effect On Children

  • 1. Media Role Models and the Effect on Children Media construct our culture, and the media we use to communicate with one another shapes our perception of reality. Our society is centered on media, it is the most influential factor in constructing our culture, but is it a positive culture? If we examine the effect that media has on children, we can say that it breeds a harmful culture, one that throws values and morals out the window. This is because the media is profit driven and has developed its own code of ethics of "anything–goes". As a result, children are exposed to things that they should not necessarily be exposed to yet and as a result it rushes their mental development and in fact moulds their mentality. This is a scary fact because these children's minds are susceptible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example we could look at is Britney Spears, young girls who like Britney Spears think that she is ‘cool' and thus they strive to be just like her, and this involves acting like Britney and more importantly buying Britney Spears products such as her clothing. So in conclusion these media personalities are popular among children and idolized by them because they are promoted as being cool and for a child to be cool they must be just like them, which involves buying their products. These media personalities are in essence products themselves that the media bodies try to sell to children on the basis of ‘cool', and once they can be sold to the children as being cool, their entire franchise benefits because their image can create the demand for all products with their likeness. Now let's look at the effect that these media personalities have on children in the age group 5 and under. We assume that children are safe watching educational programming such as "Blue's Clues", "Dora the explorer" and "Teletubbies", but are they really as safe as we think they are. First off, these types of television shows are educational and do in fact teach young children while keeping them entertained. This can be seen as a positive influence on our kids and these characters as being positive role ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The theory stresses the interaction between developing people and the culture in which they live. This theory suggests that human development is largely involved with social process ("Contemporary Psychology: Sociocultural Perspective," n.d.). That can produce variation or proliferation without any seemingly significant changes in complexity. As she grew up into a superstar, a massive amount of ordinary people started to take interest in her lifestyle. In the sociocultural perspective, the state of gender impacts the way a person acts (Rathus, 2010). As a female celebrity, the media exploits her body image for other viewers. According to the American Sociological Association, media outlets "report on celebrities' bodies and fashion styles, sometimes offering a price and purchasing information to assist imitative consumption" (Kurzman, 2007). For Britney, the paparazzi feeds on her lifestyle for the demand of people interested in the life she lives. Due to the capitalist mindset of the media, Britney felt that she had no escape from the bombardment of other people. The environment of a popstar evidently shows factors of stress that caused her outrages. The Sociocultural Perspective explains Britney Spears's case because she grew up in a bad home environment. Spears grew up with an alcoholic and verbally abusive father (Surge, 2016). This event led to her picking up the same bad habits of her father, and become an alcoholic. Instead of the rage, she just lost herself. It is hard to imagine being in that position. Everyone's eyes always on everyone else's, their every move being monitored, making sure they do not say anything irreversible. Due to her manager, the paparazzi were always around her. At the time, her manager would leak her location to the paparazzi, knowing that she was having a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Personal Narrative: A Lust For Meaning I feel like there are many people who strive to adhere to a "live while you're young" mentality, but once they reach a certain age, that lust for life fizzles out. Perhaps because life tends to beat so many down throughout the years, snatching away skyscraping hopes to replace with losses and disappointments, some older folks begin to resent the youth for all of their promise and dreamy ideals. I do not believe that it should be this way. Just because a person has seen many years go by in his or her lifetime, it does not mean that all of that person's potential, ambition, and goal–oriented thinking should just evaporate. A number does not define you, for only how you use the wisdom of your years to pursue each day to the fullest does. Everyday is a new and valuable opportunity to go after what you want in life, especially since not everyone is lucky enough to wake up to meet the sunrise each morning. One must always remember that you only truly begin to age when you turn your back on all of the knowledge and possibilities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Has anyone actually ever been perfect? Or is it all in the eye of the beholder? These questions are asked by almost every girl, as we dream to one day reach the unattainable. This is especially true at the tender age of fifteen, where nothing seems to be going right with our bodies and everything is changing in us. As this may be unrealistic for most women, it is still a dream that everyone wishes they could achieve, especially as stated before, the young girls who are dying to find their perfect selves in a world of Cosmo and glamour. Without this intense use of imagery, this poem would not be nearly as effective in portraying the image Marisa de los Santos wants to. As we look deeper into this poem, the metaphors portrayed throughout the poem stress just how improbable these dreams are in the chance of becoming a reality. Santos describes her imagined runway model as "leggy, outworldly as a mantis" (9). While once again hitting on the imagery, also compares this woman to that of the graceful creature that walks around on seemingly the thinnest legs on earth. Picturing this woman is exactly how every Victoria's Secret model looks, as she glides up and down the runway, inspiring jealousy in every elegant step she takes. This is the type of image we are portraying to the young women of our generation. No wonder our dreams are being overshadowed by the reality we live in. She goes on to portray "a head/ like a Faberge egg on the longest, most elegant neck" (9–10). She compares the face of perfection to Peter Carl Faberge's most renowned work, his golden jeweled eggs. But sometimes you take the wrong decisions or everything decides to go against you, which makes you stay in the box you were trying to escape from. When your dreams don't get fulfilled, you will be in that box and wait for the light. It's not always about what you want, but what you need. And to live a good life, and to do something productive, you have to work in a way that will make you happy, because that is what you need the most. Elephant is a short story written by Polly Clark in 2006. My focus point is William and his life, which I will analyze and interpret. I will also discuss the ... And that's when he got the blue elephant5. The elephant can symbolize freedom, peace and happiness, which he is looking for. It was a gift from his mother, and she had been gone for a long while, so when she came back it brought joy and hope in him. Therefore the elephant is meaningful and also the light in his dark working room. William gets a switch between getting hope and losing it, as when he was talking with his wife Ginny, about moving to Australia, he just says "Let's see what happens" as if it doesn't interest him.6 He is not pleased with the way his life is, because it wasn't the way he planned it to be, but he has hope and is dedicated with his work, even though it sadness him that he feels as if his work is unwanted. Ken Follett's introduction to the 1999 edition of The Pillars of the Earth can be used as an introduction to William's life, because "Nothing happens the way you plan it."7 At the end of the story of the text Elephant, Williams does realize that he actually can change his life, by involving his own past and experiences. She is lying prostrate upon the floor with the photographer snapping pictures above her scantily–clad form. The girl's name is Britney Spears. She has just recorded her first hit single, named "Hit Me Baby One More Time". The characters in the movie played by Meryl Streep and Anne Hatheway gave successful, working women an enticing edge when they mixed their confident attitudes with classy style. • 34. Britney Spears Cultural Perspective As a thirty–five year old, Caucasian female, Britney came from an unstable home life. Britney Spears experienced major successes in her life, but went through some major losses. As a group, we are analyzing the period in Spears's life that she seemed to break away from social norms and had odd behaviors: such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse, vulgar public actions, and changes to her appearance. We intend to approach this period in her life with a sociocultural perspective in order to get to the root of her spiral and how she came back on top. The sociocultural perspective focuses on the impact of social and cultural context on an individual. The theory stresses the interaction between developing people and the culture in which they live. The main founder and contributor to the sociocultural perspective was Lev Vygotsky. This theory suggests that human development is largely involved with social process ("Contemporary Psychology: Sociocultural Perspective," n.d.). That can produce variation or proliferation without any seemingly significant changes in complexity. Through time, producing a form of structure can be qualitatively different from the ancestral form. For example, a person who grew up kissing each other goodbye will most likely pass that onto their children. The environment that Spears' has experienced directly affected her rambunctious actions.
