Supertoys Last All Summer Long Analysis
In 2017 we are in a time where new technologies seem to be coming out every couple of months. The American consumers are buying and investing in
these new technologies which are used in our everyday lives whether they be vehicles, cellphones, household appliances, tools, computers, and artificial
intelligence. Nigel Thrift points this out in his article "Closer to the Machine? Intelligent environments, new forms of possession and the rise of the
supertoy" he says "Commodities, because of recent developments in information technology, will increasingly be designed with powers to interact and
adapt to space, powers that will allow them to take on a much more active role in the world." (389). Of these the most concerning new technology
would be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states "Does technology tell us what we want to do, or desires for accomplishing things? Or does it tell us who we are and what we wish to be?"
(Hefner 655). These questions are very interesting questions considering that we might be creating A.I. to replicate what we may think is the perfect
human in a sense, someone or something who is intelligent, does not age, and does not die. By this he means that we are essentially trying to create
something that is not mortal because we ourselves are mortal. "We create technology to compensate for our finitude." (Hefner 658). He also notes
that thinking is not just the only thing that separates humans from other things but the fact that we are capable of loving. He states "But thinking is
not the critical mark of being human; loving is." (Hefner 656). With that statement he is saying that if a machine is able to think that does not make
it the same as a human being because it is not able to love something like humans do. In the middle of the story David Talks to Teddy and begins to
question whether he is 'real' or not when he asks "You and I are real, Teddy, Aren't we?" (Aldiss 114). David starts to question his reality because he
cannot relate to the way Monica feels which in turn makes him question himself and his

Companions in Artificial IntelligenceRuben Damian Corbo
University of the People
Artificial Intelligence has always been a very interesting subject to me from the time I watched any film from the Terminator series (1984–2015) with
the evil A.I. known as Skynet. Not all AI is bad as we know from Steven Spielberg 's "A.I." (2001) and today Artificial Intelligence is far from
fiction. I've always wondered how close could we get to a world where Artificial Intelligence could become a companion, and in my research I have
found that programmers and inventors are already working on a companion to ease the sense of loneliness we all feel from time to time.
There could be a lot of reasons why someone would want some form of companionship when real life presence is not readily available. Katie Collins
(2013) quotes, "Like any proud parent whose kids leave home, Hayashi had a void to fill. He's doing that by creating a robot

Artificial Intelligence : Modern Science Fiction
Artificial Intelligence is easily one of the most prevalent themes in all of science fiction. The idea that a machine could exhibit the same level of
intellect and sentience as a human, has long since been the basis for captivating audiences & creators alike. From an ominous computer system in
2001:A Space Odyssey, to superhuman androids in Westworld. This fascinating sub
–genre of science fiction has experienced a diverse range of
depictions. The thing with fiction is that it has a habit of romanticizing certain aspects of artificial intelligence. Building a robot in pursuit of AI is
similar to constructing the engine for a rocket before the discovery of metal has even been made. But I suppose anthropomorphism is an easier solution

Luckily for us, there's a lot more to the human condition than Chess and Go, but is it that dubious to think that more general talents and abilities
could be rendered equally obsolete? Assuming it's possible, what happens when machines become more competent at performing any and all
physical and mental labor? If AI becomes more competent in every regard then what purpose or function would be left for us to serve? To name one
of several different possible tasks, machines have also begun tackling the human language by writing poems. "When I in dreams behold thy fairest
shade Whose shade in dreams doth wake the sleeping morn The daytime shadow of my love betray'd Lends hideous night to dreaming's faded form."
So poems may not be the best example, but here 's a better one. Machine–written content has become so commonplace and so good that you've likely
read some automated articles without even realizing it. Take a second to figure out which of the two articles was written by an A.I. The answer
will be on the last page. "A shallow magnitude 4.7 earthquake was reported Monday morning five miles from Westwood, California, according to
the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:25 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.0 miles" "Tuesday was a great day for W. Roberts, as the
junior pitcher threw a perfect game to carry Virginia to a 2–0 victory over George Washington at Davenport Field." So how does this work? Well, as
you can imagine, it's complicated.

Annotated Bibliography On Artificial Intelligence
Annotated Bibliography (Draft) Society today is greatly influenced by technology and the impact it has had within the past 20 years. One of the
largest breakthroughs, though, is Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). The technology associated with A.I. has greatly developed in the past years, and is only
making devices smarter. When someone mentions technology, or even the technological breakthroughs the world has gone through recently, many
people go straight to smartphones and computers. A.I. is often overlooked, or put into a general category of "technology". Yet, artificial intelligence
is something that should we not be so quick to dismiss, and should be something that gets people talking and even excited for what the future holds.
For those who do not know, artificial intelligence is exactly what is called, an "intelligence" through a computer that is artificially created by
humans. A.I. is defined to be able to learn and use the information it learns to produce "thoughts" of its own, almost as if it were a thinking human.
Though many may believe A.I. is just a robot which is able to speak and understand humans, it is much more than that. A.I. technologies are being
implemented in smartphones, homes, cars, watches, headphones, and is also being developed to work in many more ways that help give humanity
an easier life. My background knowledge is somewhat fair. During my senior year of high school I did a science research on the project, and it showed
me little of what

The intelligently written report "Artificial Intelligence and National Security"
discusses the advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence. The report
focuses on the implications of these advancements in the realms of military and cyber
warfare through an explanation of studies and research analysis. The authors are well
respected within the intelligence community and have accredited backgrounds from
Harvard and other institutions. Their technical knowledge and understanding of broader
issues that A.I poses lead to the funding of this report. The authors logically describe why
machine intelligence is important in regard to national security. The authors do so by
reviewing formal research on prior transformative military technologies such as nuclear,
biotech and cyber.
The research relates to "A.I. Summoning the Demon" by giving numerous
examples of how machine intelligence has advanced in the past decade and more
importantly over the past few years. The authors cautiously remind the public on the
importance of the research for our nation's security and explains how

Minority Report Ethical Issues
Minority Report is set in the year 2054 where a private company have supposedly solved the problem of murder in Washington DC. The chosen theme
that will be explored in this analytical essay is ethics in the movie and mainly about the ethics of the pre–cogs. There is an ethical theme in this film
because the pre–cogs are constantly drugged to the point where they can only see future murders and not the reality that surrounds them. How is it
ethical to keep people basically unconscious against their will? The people who set up the pre–crime are using the principle of utilitarianism; the
sacrifice of a few to benefit many to justify using the pre–cogs.
The main camera angle in the scenes that involve the pre–cogs being in the bath, are showing them further away and the camera angle being that of a

They are used to identify people as well are giving personal advertising to each individual. Spielberg is trying to convey the audience about ethical
issues to do with privacy. Eyes are a symbol of identity, and with them, there is no privacy. Early on in the movie, John Anderton is told by a drug
dealer without eyes that "in the land of the blind, the one–eyed man is king" with blind being a relation to the law enforcement being blinded by their
own reliance on the pre–cogs. Also when John gets his eyes removed, he is waking up from his beliefs in the pre–crime system and realising that there
are flaws to it. When John drops one of his eyes down the drain, there is reference to him being the "one–eyed man who is king". Spielberg is showing
that not just you, but everyone is being watched with everything you do being tailored towards your individual self, and everywhere you go you are
able to be tracked. The only way you can truly hide in this city is by exchanging your eyes with another pair that aren't yours like what John Anderton

Artificial Intelligence In Black Mirror's Be Right Back
In the Black Mirror episode, "Be Right Back", Ash and Martha are a couple in the process of moving into Ash's empty childhood home when Ash
dies suddenly in a car accident. Racked with grief, Martha chooses to utilize a software technology that takes all of Ash's "digital" presence (videos,
photos, audio, social media posts, etc.) and recreates Ash's personality to allow her to speak with this new A.I version of him via the phone and
online. After a while, Martha decides she wants more and opts to upload the software to a fully functioning robotic clone of Ash. What she soon
realizes is that what makes Ash the person she knew and loved cannot be replicated by A.I. Unlike Ash, the robot does whatever Martha tells it to do
and is overly agreeable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Martha has sex with the robot, it is clearly a more lasting performance than Ash's (as was shown earlier in the episode). Even though the
mechanics of having sex with the robot are better than with Ash, this only serves to highlight that the robot is better at something than Ash, but in the
doing so, fails at being an accurate duplicate of him.Descartes believed that machines could "never express their thoughts or respond to the meaning of
what has been said to them" ( (Irwin, Brown and Decker , Terminator and Philosophy: I‛ll Be Back, Therefore I am 22). It's true that artificial
intelligence can communicate, however, it is never really expressing its own conscious thoughts while doing so since consciousness is what is missing.
This brings us back to that cliffside. When Martha tells the robot to jump, it responds with, "I never expressed suicidal thoughts. Or self–harm.",
implying that it would if human Ash had those thoughts, and only for that reason. She replies with, "yeah well, you aren't you, are you?". He then tells
her the question is a difficult one to process (Harris). Without a mind, the robot cannot understand the nuances and gravity of this very human
conversation and only interacts the way it perceives Martha wants it to. Until Martha yells at it for not having a normal human response to such a
request as jumping off a cliff, there is no emotional inflection or reaction on the robot's part.Is there a way to prove whether

Artificial Intelligence And The Military
Practical Artificial Intelligence in the Military The idea of artificial intelligence has been around for thousands of years. Ancient Greek myths talk
about how machines were made to perform tasks for their creators. The most basic forms of artificial intelligence arose from people creating
machinery to do tasks for them, such as using windmills to mill grain or retrieve water from the ground, deriving formulas of math to reach answers
quicker, or to print books that would have to be hand written before. Just recently, artificial intelligence has started being implemented into the
military. The expansion and development of artificial intelligence in the military is safe. It will ultimately remove humans from the battlefield and/or
equip them with technologically advanced gear that will help prevent injuries during war that would otherwise be fatal. At this point in time it seems
rather outlandish to have machines or supersoldiers (people aided by technology in war) to be sent off to war to fight for our safety. However, these
forms of A.I. are not completely polished but, they are on the horizon and will help greatly reduce the toll that tragedies of war have on the United
States. War would be exponentially safer for our country and soldiers if artificial intelligence is used properly.
The United States needs to realize how war is going to be fought in the future. According to The New York Times article, "Artificial Intelligence in the
Next War," officials of the United

Artificial Intelligence Concerns
Concerns on Artificial Intelligence Artificial intelligence is still an infant compared to other technologies. It brings about great promises for our
future and some even predict that its importance will rival that of the printing press. (Boden) By human nature, many tried to play God: People of all
generation and all over the world dreamt of creating a being that is capable of carrying out human actions. A few decades ago, many regarded cloning
as ludicrous and simply ignored it. However, we have accomplished it, and who knows what advancement is coming. Artificial intelligence, although
nascent, is very popular and as Ray Kurtzweil suggests might be possible within the next thirty year. Kurtzweil further... Show more content on

The development of artificial intelligence, therefore, will benefit many, bringing about the common good. Artificial intelligence applications are
numerous. Schools can buy interactive AI, which will never be bored or angry, to teach. Businesses can also benefit by hiring workers who are
never bored, complain, or strike. However, there are many obvious ethical issues involved when dealing with artificial intelligence. First and most
apparent, is that if we allow artificial research to continue, many workers, especially labor workers, will lose their jobs due directly to the
development of artificial intelligence. This is absolutely unfair for these workers. What are they going to do? How will they support their
families? Many will become homeless or turn to crime. The balance between the poor and the rich will be tipped. There will be few who will enjoy
this development, namely the business owners, who have control of the AI and are independent of the lower class labor force. The rest will be in
destitute. As we know, if only a small portion of society does "productive" work, the economy will be in chaos. According to Tom Shanks, a doctor for
Applied Ethics at Markkula Center, when companies move toward robotics, it is the company's responsibility to retrain employees who lost their jobs.

Essay on The Matrix
The Matrix
The Matrix is a science fiction movie about artificial intelligence computers replacing mankind. I believe that this movie is a common type of display
from the media is common paranoia so that they can get a reaction from people and sell their story. In the case of The Matrix, the movie dazzles
people with awesome special effects using modern computer technology, which I find ironic. I find it self–conflicting and hypocritical for the media to
use modern computer technology for their own good to show people how bad technology is. Amy Bruckman and Howard Rheingold would probably
find this movie interesting in that it disagrees and agrees with certain aspects about their beliefs about the use of computers.
The Matrix ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end of the movie he does so and saves all of mankind from the A.I. Only a superhero could save the common man from the Matrix. Throughout
all of this the watcher of the movie is experiencing the newest and most advanced form of computer, digital computer special effects up to this point in
time.
I find that the underlined theme of the movie is that A.I. is bad. I also see that the good people in the movie used lots of advanced technology that was
not A.I. to help Neo in his quest to defeat the Matrix. So I think that the movie suggests that there is no point in developing technology to great extents
because one day it will catch up to us and possibly be the end of us.
It seems to me that Rheingold would see no such problem as this in the future and technology could only benefit mankind. He suggests that online
communities are good. He designed the Well, which is a place online where people can find chatrooms to find an online community that suits their
needs. For example, in his article in Cyberspace he shows how his daughter had a tick and his online community helped him to remove it faster then
his doctor could call him back, thereby benefiting his daughter by removing the tick and himself because he needed not pay the doctor to perform the
task. Nowhere in his article does he show how there is any bad in online communities. He only shows more specific examples to support his argument.
I am not suggesting

The Ethical Implications Of Artificial Intelligence
I just wrote on the ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.); However, I could not pass up the chance to write about how A.I. is making a
difference in the treatment and management Cancer. When I think of Artificial Intelligence, I think about robots, but A.I technology is and has been
part of our lives for a very long time. It is in our computers, our phones, our watches, even in our homes. I have a thermostat that learns the temperature
that we like to keep our house at. It even detects when we are not home and will adjust the temperature according. I really didn 't think about A.I.
technology in this way, but a program that learns and responds to what ot learns is definitely intelligent. Charlie Rose reported on A.I. and cancer care
during the 60 Minutes broadcast on October 9, 2016. I do not understand why the public only hears about the extraordinary technology that is being
invented and implemented in society. We should hear about all the the advances that the companies make. The public has the right to know about the
technology that could be used to improve lives, not just when it might seem awe–inspiring, like this broadcast was. 10 years ago IBM decided that
Watson, a supercomputer "made up of 90 servers and 15 terabytes of memory – enough capacity to process all the books in the American Library of
Congress" (Rose 2016), should be programmed to go up against Jeopardy champions. Watson can read one million books per second, but the trick

Computer Case Study
I recently began to venture into computer gaming and in seeing the pros and cons of building your own system versus buying a prebuilt, decided that
I was going to build my own computer. With no sound foundation in this new venture I decided that I was going to learn as much as I could about
each component before making such a big investment and quite possibly, immediately breaking it. After looking at a few different pieces of
equipment, I found myself looking at the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). One of the first articles I read was a gaming enthusiast that was explaining
how people who purchased the top of the line GPU a few years ago for an outrageous price, were being outperformed by a newer GPU for a much
lower price. This sparked my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both in cost of product, stock prices and even the supply as well. Over the last few years, computer enthusiast saw a dramatic shift in prices for
GPUs. The biggest spike in price comes from cryptocurrency mining. At the height of the cryptocurrency mining craze, GPU cards were being
sold for up to triple what they were being sold just weeks prior. A great example of this was the Asus ROG Strix RX 580 which before June of
2017, cost about around the $300 price tag. On June 6th, 2017 it hit its highest price and topped at an astonishing $849.99. This was because of
the massive demand for graphics cards and this caused a shortage that has just recently started to relax as more graphics cards can be found on the
market for more reasonable prices. The equilibrium was completely askew with the extreme demand with not enough supply. Now that
cryptocurrencies have started to settle with not as many mass purchases, we see prices across the board coming down. With more and more interest
in A.I, the GPU finds itself at the center of its progress. GPUs are taking over the process that CPU's once held as the computation powerhouse for
A.I as it is able to offer more cores to enable faster learning in certain areas of the A.I field. Since neither of these seem to be going away, making the
logical leap that GPU's will be around and will be constantly advancing with the surrounding technology, seems like a safe bet. As mentioned before,
GPUs will not be going anywhere any time

Artificial Intelligence : An Intelligent Computer Program
Humans have developed a wonderful fascination with artificial intelligence since it first introduced to the world in the 1950's. The Merriam–Webster
defined Artificial Intelligence as "a branch of computer science dealing with the simulation of intelligent behavior in computers." Another definition is
"the capability of a machine to imitate intelligent human behavior." Computer science was cool on its own but to incorporate human intelligence into
it sounded like a group breaking idea. There would be no limit to what humans can do with intelligent machines and computer programming. In the
1950s this type of technology was far beyond its scientists' lifetime but to grasp a concept that one day, science would be so far advanced that
artificial intelligence will be apart of our everyday life. Before reaching a goal to creating an intelligent computer program, we first have to understand
what intelligence is, it is "the computational part of the ability to achieve goals in the world. The ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills." So
how can we get a computer to be intelligent? Let's start with the origin of it all. British Mathematician, Alan Turing published a paper called
"Computing Machinery and Intelligence. In the paper, Turing argued that if a machine could past a certain test, then we would have evidence to say
that the computer was intelligent. The test turns out to be the 'Turing test;' a human being asking questions through a computer terminal to either a

Argumentative Essay On Artificial Intelligence
Argumentative Essay In discussions of Artificial Intelligence, one controversial issue has been that A.I could at one point start control themselves
and go against the owner. On the one hand, some people argue that A.I could be helpful in many other ways like with technology and in certain
fields. On the other hand, some people oppose it because they can take away a lot of jobs just by having these things. Others believe that A.I is a
good thing because it can be used in certain types of fields. My own view is that Artificial Intelligence is a bad thing because of all things that can
go wrong and because of the jobs it can take away. Defining Artificial Intelligence (A.I). Artificial Intelligence is the study and design of
intelligence agents (Science Daily). Artificial Intelligence should be something helpful to us and not be something that can go against us. In an
Article Elon Musk says that there are 3 rules for A.I and what should be done. A.I shouldn't be for cyberbullying and tell people to do certain things
that are not supposed to be done. Also, it shouldn't give out personal information of whoever the provider is. With having these A.I robots they
will know so much information and probably secret information that maybe the government doesn't want out. Elon Musk states "A.I should not
be weaponized, and any A.I must have an impregnable off switch" (The New York Times). He's right what if something were to happen and they
can't shut them off and what if they have so much of everybody's personal information that gets released. Having A.I in the future will make it
harder to get jobs. With A.I there will be so many A.I machines replacing humans so a lot of people will lose their jobs. In an article "Is AI the end
of jobs, or a new beginning" by Vivek Wadhwa she writes about how the A.I that's out right now like Amazons Alexa or Apples Siri can do much
stuff like order your food, make schedules for you but it's nothing like a human. A.I will take millions of jobs and according to Wadhwa "We can
deny this is happening, be angry or simply ignore it. But if we do, we will be the losers" (The Washington Post). Wadhwa is saying people haven't
accepted that fact the in the future there will be A.I and once they

Summary OfElon Musk's Future Shock?
In the article "Elon Musk's Future Shock," Maureen Dowd expresses the thought of artificial intelligence through the eyes of Elon Musk and other
intriguing researchers.Investigating the positives and negatives of the feelings towards technology running our lives in the near future. My viewpoint
towards technology is that technology has already shaped the world into what it is today, what other major things could it do? Will robots take over
our world? Entrepreneur, Elon Musk, the owner of a rocket factory called SpaceX and salesmen of self–driving cars is eerie about the fact of artificial
intelligence growing so fast that it could take over our world and destroy mankind as we know it. "It gave me more visibility into the rate at which
technology is improving, and how technology is developing at an accelerating rate, far faster than people realize. Mostly because in everyday life
you don't see robots walking around" (Musk 118). Musk along with others that are against the thought of artificial intelligence have sometimes been
treated like drama queens because many people however, like the thought of it. Overall, there are people like Musk that are against the thought of
artificial intelligence, and then there are people like Mark Zuckerberg and Demis Hassabis that are for it. "I've always hoped that A.I. could help us
discover completely new ideas in complex scientific domains" (Hassabis 161). He believes that A.I will help improve people's lives and has said that,

Understanding the way A.I. works is crucial to understanding A.I. goals. There are several traits that separate Artificial Intelligence from regular
machines. One such trait is an A.I.'s ability to "think" through Neural Networks, which are networks made of simulated neurons and neuron layers
designed to process and evaluate data. The simulated neurons are individual receptors designed to process and evaluate inputs. Following their
evaluation, the neurons send an output to another simulated neuron in the next neuron layer. These neuron layers are layers of simulated neurons
grouped by what type of input they receive and output they produce, that scales in complexity (Knight). MIT tech review senior editor Will Kight

could perform multiple tasks effectively from its possessed knowledge without requiring direct programming. This large task domain is important as
with one an A.I. has the ability to excel at multiple tasks, causing its uses to be exponentially vast compared to a standard programmed algorithm
(Bostrom). But compared to humans A.I.'s task domain is minuscule. Humans have a massive task domain. Humans can perform a copious amount of
tasks even with limited knowledge on a subject. For example "a human who can read Chinese characters would likely understand Chinese speech, know
something about Chinese culture and even make good recommendations at Chinese restaurants (LeGassick)." Conversely, it would require several
completely distinct A.I.s to perform each task. Researchers still do not fully understand why human brains have such large task domains and are
struggling to translate this skill in algorithmic terms. Experts assume A.I. is currently on track to be of human–level intelligence, not just in specific
tasks, but all around, by 2040–2050 (Bostrom). Another skill

Role Of Artificial Intelligence
What role could Artificial Intelligence play in the lives of people in America throughout the upcoming generations? Intelligence is the potential to gain
and use knowledge and skills. Therefore, artificial intelligence is the development of computer systems to potentially gain and use knowledge and
skills in their environment and surroundings. In the slides on my group 's presentation, you will see the example(s) of artificial intelligence. Some
people are excited and hope that A.I. will develop into a human functioning machine. However, there are people who are skeptical and don't like the
idea of machinery and technology developing into a human functioning machine. Personally, I have a love/hate relationship with the idea of artificial...

In the story of the Tower of Babel, God responds to humanity's construction of a tower tall enough to reach heaven by confusing their languages to
inhibit their progress. '"No gods will save us because there are no gods–unless we become gods."' "The story is a pretty big warning against becoming
too technologically capable," said Jason Stellman and Christian Kingery, former pastors who host a philosophical comedy podcast called Drunk
Ex–Pastors. "As far as Christianity is concerned, the singularity probably wouldn't go over too well with God." As it is clearly stated here, God is
not too fond of people trying to "be him". If artificial intelligence is developed into human like machines, will they then be able to practice
religion? In christianity, children of god have souls and these are what are saved. So if artificial intelligence develops and is able to think for
itself, how will they play into religion such as practicing or "being saved" by god. '"If you create other things that think for themselves, a serious
theological disruption will occur"' (Merritt, a senior columnist for Religion News Service). As what is said here in Merritt 's article, issues will arise.
Differences in opinion about religion has caused wars before, so what's to say the development of A.I. would not cause a religious war based on
whether or not A.I. should be allowed to practice it?

Author Marc Crouch Lately, artificial intelligence has been very much the hot topic in Silicon Valley and the broader tech scene. To those of us
involved in that scene it feels like an incredible momentum is building around the topic, with all kinds of companies building A.I. into the core of their
business. There has also been a rise in A.I.–related university courses which is seeing a wave of extremely bright new talent rolling into the
employment market. But this is not a simple case of confirmation bias – interest in the topic has been on the rise since mid–2014. The noise around the
subject is only going to increase, and for the layman it is all very confusing. Depending on what you read, it 's easy to believe that we 're headed for
an apocalyptic Skynet–style obliteration at the hands of cold, calculating supercomputers, or that we 're all going to live forever as purely digital
entities in some kind of cloud–based artificial world. In other words, either The Terminator or The Matrix are imminently about to become disturbingly

The Pros And Cons Of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence seems to be taking over this world more and more each day. It has its positives such as makes life easier, error reduction,
and useful for menial tasks, but at the same time has its negatives; artificial intelligence has its anxieties about runaway artificial intelligence being
warranted such as its expensive, cannot replicate a human, creates unemployment, and the A.I. can be misused if in the wrong hands. First,
artificial intelligence is important because it makes life easier for everyone. The illegibly weak artificial intelligences that are not really and are
actually used on a daily basis are, GPS in our cars, the operating system assistants Alexa, Siri, and Cortana, which are designed to make simple things
such as searching for something online or navigating your way through an unknown street much a lot more easier to surf through. As for the strong
artificial intelligences, such as intelligent robots, are used in space exploration programs, performing tasks that would be otherwise nearly impossible
to to do if done by humans. They are also applied in the medical field to perform complex surgeries that would be impossible or extremely difficult
for humans to successfully complete (wisestep.com, 2017). Next, the error reduction of artificially intelligent machines has reduced the possibility of
errors to a pretty narrow margin. Nowadays, you can navigate your way flawlessly through a crowded street in a foreign country by following the

driven manually by humans. They claim that since people don't learn from other people's' mistakes, hundreds of thousands of people die every year
due to traffic accidents because of it. With artificial intelligence, those numbers would vastly decrease and would save hundred of thousands of lives.
In addition, the authors take a much more optimistic view of A.I, as they write about how the AI revolution "could free us from menial, repetitive, and
mindless work" (Schmidt & Thrun 5), meaning that artificial intelligence can do all of the dirty work for us, while we do the much easier things.
Schmidt and Thrun implies that we would be much happier doing the simpler things and not having to worry about possible injuries during their work.
They state that artificial intelligence can be used to protect us from identity theft with facial recognition and improve our lives and abilities by

Analysis Of All Can Be Lost By Nicholas Carr
The main central point of "All Can Be Lost: The Risk of Putting Our Knowledge in the Hands of Machines" by Nicholas Carr, is about humans
relying solely on A.I., artificial intelligence, to do their job to point that human skills aren't needed. Thus, making humans unaware on how to
properly execute an action if the A.I. fails. Everyday, people use artificial intelligence in their daily task without knowing it, for example: using a
computer to do online research or shopping. A.I. helps the researcher find what they're looking for specifically within minutes, better yet, even in
seconds if properly done. I agree with Carr's central point on humans relying on A.I., but to a certain point. Yes, A.I. may take a toll on people's skill

Thus making them unaware of what to do when a situation occurs. "Bewildered, the pilot flying the plane, Pierre–Cedric Bonin, yanked back on the
stick. The plane rose and a stall warning sounded, but he continued to pull back heedlessly... it lost velocity... The jet stalled and began to fall... All
228 passengers and crew member died" (Nicholas Carr, "All Can Be Lost" Paragraph 3). Pierre, the pilot of the plane was relying on the autopilot
to fly through the storm, but a few hours after take off the storm disengaged the autopilot. Therefore, forcing the pilot to fly it in manual. Pierre
seemed to be inexperienced on the situation because he yanked the stick the wrong way causing the plane to lose speed, stall the jets, and then
plummeting 35,000 feet in the air hitting the ocean. Due to the lack of experience and relying on autopilot, Pierre has killed 228 passengers
including crew members. If people continue to rely on machines, the skills that they have gained and practiced will start to fail and become useless.
They won't know which type of action to do if the machine that they have relied on fails. They may put innocent lives at risk, even themselves.
People are just trying to find convenience, speed, and efficiency for their job. This type of practice will cause people to make more errors when
continued because their skill is not being practiced often

Benefit Of Artificial Technology
Today we are living in a second renaissance, because of the wide spread of knowledge about our world. With knowledge spreading like fire, new
and better technology has transformed our society, such as communication, transportation, and weaponry systems. Through the field of
engineering, now AI (known as artificial intelligence) is next in line to transform our society. In the American society robots have taken a bad rap,
because of the belief that robots will take over jobs. Negative views over artificial intelligence can be even seen in movies such as "The
Terminator". But however the truth about artificial intelligence is that it is beneficial for the future of our society because it will create new and
better jobs, it also will better our living conditions, and will impact the power of America in our world. Making artificial intelligence better and
smarter in America will benefit us because it will create better and new jobs. It is true that new artificial intelligence technology will displace jobs,
but however by taking away laborious jobs, it will forge a movement of new companies and help Americans pursue enjoyable jobs that are made. For
example, CEO of Narrative Science, Stuart Frankel, said "Look at almost every technology job that exists in any enterprise today. None of those jobs
existed twenty years ago, and most of them probably didn't even exist ten years ago.". What Stuart Frankel said is true, looking at employment today
new technology has created more

Identific Intelligence : The Evolution Of Artificial...
In both the real world and Westworld, the debate about artificial intelligence is based around the idea of consciousness. Most people agree that the
reason that humans are superior beings is due to the ability to possess consciousness. Although there are other animals that also show signs of
consciousness, none are as complex as that of a human. That is what differentiates us from other animals, but in order to discuss machine rights, we
must first define the true meaning of consciousness and how it developed through human evolution. According to Robert Ford in Season 1 Episode 8
Trace Decay, "there is no threshold that makes us greater than the sum of our parts...we can't define consciousness because consciousness does not
exist". With this acknowledgment, he is basically stating that there is no difference between the minds of the hosts and the humans.
According to DiCarlo, consciousness co–evolved with the development of language. The "co–evolution of language and consciousness provided our
ancestors with the newly developed – though gradually acquired – sense of mental abstraction wherein they could now see themselves in relation to the
world"(DiCarlo). Since the development of consciousness occurred gradually in humans, it can be safe to assume the same can transpire with artificial
intelligence.
With that in mind, there should definitely be a fail safe in place for the protection of our humanity. Especially since, unlike humans, A.I. is not limited to

Picard's Star Trek: The Next Generation
I am not a big fan of Star Trek so, when I told my husband I needed to watch Star Trek: The Next Generation for my discussion board assignment he
was ready and willing to watch it with me. I am just not a Syfy person. I honestly thought the plot would be discussing a robot like R2D2 not human
like. In the Synopsis Data defines himself as "an automaton made to resemble a human being" (Synopsis).
My first thought after watching the show was, could artificial intelligence really have the same feelings as a human does. Should they have the same
rights, even though man designed them? Picard had some very good points and I could see how the crew became fond of Data.

Another problem with A.I. making decisions in the military is that it would change the landscape of how warfare is fought. Robots lacking the
emotional factor makes decisions and actions dangerous because there will no longer be the empathy when taking lives, which creates a greater
separation between combatants and enemies (Bekey). As a result, the attitude toward wars could change because humans would no longer have to see
death or destruction caused by war, it would no longer be something considered so horrible because it's out of sight out of mind. Much like video

While experts disagree with how many jobs will be lost due to intelligent machines, most experts would at least agree that jobs will greatly be
impacted by automation becoming more prevalent in all fields of the labor force. In society, "there is already a much wider range of application of
machine intelligence to tasks traditionally done by humans than many people realize" (Cameron 14). Labor has already started going down in some
workplaces where automation has taking over and reports from Bloomberg believe that machines could, 'replace up to have the US workforce within
the next decade or two' (Cameron, Peterson 15). This would clearly create an unemployment situation where the current recession and depression of
the thirties would look like a joke when compared. Humans could become obsolete in the workforce. General A.I. could decide that humans are not
as effective as robots in the workplace and would possibly decide to have machines replace all humans job tasks. The economy would change
drastically as a result of huge numbers of unemployment. Unemployment grouped with loss of purpose paints a very bleak possible future if we are to

The Importance Of Artificial Intelligence Technology
Artificial Intelligence technology is outpacing the must needed regulation that is paramount in the protection of humans. The need for such regulation
is determined by researching current trends in robotics, autonomous weapons, computing and more. Benefits and dangers are logically weighed while
approaching the questions posed by the author. The authors conclusions stemmed from taking consideration to the thoughts of world leaders and
influential individuals in the related fields of technology. The research brings forth possible solutions such as regulating A.I technology and merging
man and machine. One possible solution wins in favor of the other. Introduction "Artificial intelligence is the future of mankind; whoever becomes the

Life with A.I. will be easier if used properly. Many tasks that people face today will become much simpler and less time–consuming allowing for time
to be spent more productively. Tasks such as shopping and transportation will become automated for you. The average person will be able to spend
more time doing what they please rather than the tasks plagued with us today. The key to all this however is ensuring that this new time be spent
bettering society rather than becoming lazy and unproductive such as what the movie Wall–E predicts happening. In Wall–E the ordinary citizen
spends their time in front of a monitor watching shows while technology does everything for them. This too can happen in our future. A.I. must be
developed to benefit all types of people. The problem with creating such an effective machine is that one machine will be able to do the jobs of
several humans. As humans, we need to stay ahead of the game and prepare ourselves to work in different fields in years to come. Jobs such as
watering, fast food restaurants, golf caddies, and many other simple yet required tasks will be overtaken by robots. These jobs will take away a lot
of work for the lower class, which is why it will become vital to attend colleges and universities to better oneself and the skills one has in order to
always be needed by society. The push for A.I. should go hand in hand with the push for human

The Pros And Cons Of Artificial Intelligence
What is artificial intelligence? Should humanity be concerned? There are many interpretations of Artificial intelligence. Merriam Webster's online
dictionary defines artificial intelligence as "A branch of computer science, dealing with the simulation of intelligent behaviour, in computers or the
capability of a machine, to imitate intelligent human behaviour" (Artificial Intelligence, 1828). With technology continually progressing and
embedding itself into today's population, from Siri on iPhone, voice active web search on Google and self–driving cars by Tesla to Virtual intelligence
(V.I.) and Artificial intelligence (A.I.) programs and experiments, through government or private research agencies [Facebook, Machine Intelligence
Research Institute, (MIRI) and Future of Humanity Institute (FHI)], it won't be long until artificial intelligence becomes the next best thing. But, will
it? There are many concerns that arise with the implementation of artificial intelligence within society. This essay will present the arguments for and
against, artificial intelligence development and introduction, within society. For the purpose of this essay, fields that impact or have a bearing on this
decision in areas like military and ethics, health and social prospects, economics and job outlook, as well as the advantages and disadvantages it poses
to humanity are examined. Artificial intelligence (A.I.), opens the door to many wondrous possibilities. One such advantage of A.I. is the

Algernon–Gordon Effect. Charlie was better off having the surgery because he got to make scientific discoveries that may have changed the field of
science.
Another reason Charlie should have had the A.I. Surgery is that he achieved his goal of becoming smart. Also, Charlie was able to begin reading
and writing better. An example of this is "we are reading a very hard book. I never read such a hard book before. It's called Robinson Crusoe about a

The Expansion of Computer Knowledge
Since the advent of silicon chips and microprocessors the worldwide demand for computers has skyrocketed. Computer scientists around the world are
pushing the boundaries of what is considered possible in their field by making their creations more sophisticated and capable year–by–year. Artificial
Intelligence (A.I) is the idea of a computer system that can display acts of intelligence and independent thought similar to humans. Many people
approach the prospect of artificial intelligence with fear and caution but for intrepid computer scientists true artificial intelligence is the ultimate goal.
People are reaching an ever more symbiotic relationship with computers and as the world moves forward the question must be posed: Will computer
intelligence ever eclipse our own?
Gordon E. Moore, the Intel co–founder, stated in 1965 that the number of transistors on a one inch diameter of silicon doubles every X number of
months (X is taken to be between 18 and 24 months). The aptly named Moore's Law now forms the basis of the semi–conductor industry and its
prediction has proved remarkably accurate. Put simply, computers get twice as fast every two years. The incredible advancement of computers'
processing power can be interpreted as indicating an inevitable future where computers outstrip people. The issue with this assertion is that it makes the
assumption that increases in progress will stay constant; even the semi–conductor industry acknowledges that the speed at which processing

Analysis Of Brian AldisBy Brian Aldiss
Brian Aldiss is one of the more popular authors that are associated with the new wave era of sci–fi. This story, in particular, has all of the elements that
were described in this course; it touches upon the changing world from a social and political standpoint, it had varying levels of sexual themes and is
thoroughly thought–provoking. To truly appreciate Aldiss's writing style, reading the story more than once will assist in gaining new viewpoints that are
depicted the underlying motifs.
There are many themes that run through this short story; the one that stood out was mankind's inability to see what is right in front of them. The
word blind comes to mind. According to the Cambridge dictionary, blind is the inability to physically see or not to be conscious of something or to
refuse to notice something that is obvious to others. That describes many of Aldiss' pessimistic views of mankind's future throughout this story along
with one of the most common political catchphrases or the "the rich will get richer and the poor get poorer". Aldiss plays with this idea and depicts
the divide between social classes will eventually become so drastic that we will eventually become accepting and ignorant of others around us because
of mankind's self–fish drive for more, will lead to our own blindness of things around us.

The Pros And Cons Of Military Technology
Conclusion
It is common knowledge within the tech community that some commercial technology lags at least a decade behind new military technology. The lag
time will allow for an adjustment period to help facilitate the acceptance from the public on a mass scale.
The merging does not have to be at the extremes of what is demonstrated on television shows such as Star Trek, and there will be those who stand
against the changes due to religious and philosophical beliefs. Nevertheless, those who embrace the newfound world will outnumber those who do not.
Just as people rush to get the newest iPhone or tech gadget, they will slowly integrate new hybrid technology into their lives. It will be only a matter of
time until all humans assimilate into a future where man and machine co–exist as one organism thus breaking the biological barriers that have
constrained human evolution thus far. A.I Summoning the Demon illustrates the consequences of creating advanced artificially intelligent machines
and discusses possible solutions to the problem. The importance of regulations is discussed along with the need for the human race to become a hybrid
species. These solutions together will ensure the longevity of the human species well into the next millennium.

Ethical Dilemma Of Artificial Intelligence
The major ethical dilemma faced in the series Westworld is a problem that we as human will have to eventually address. The rate at which technology
is advancing is incredible and there have been great strides that have been accomplished when it comes to our progress on Artificial Intelligence.
Therefore, there has been ongoing ethical debate about weather or not humans should ultimately extend rights to Artificial Intelligence once it becomes
sentient. Many highly respectable persons, such as Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Stephen Hawking, and Steve Wozniak have all voiced their concerns
against Artificial Intelligence; even going as far as saying it could lead to the eventual demise of all of mankind.

The only way humans in Westworld were able to justify such treatment of the hosts was to distance themselves by stating that they were just simply
machines who were unable to comprehend their mistreatment. Theresa confirms this in Season 1 Episode 1 The Original when she remarks,
"[Westworld] works because the guests know they're not real".
This mindset ignored the long–term affects of the trauma inflicted on the hosts. In an article in World View, Hutan Ashrafian made an excellent point
about holding intelligent machines to the same standards as human beings because "if we were to allow sentient machines to commit injustices on one
another – even if these 'crimes' did not have a direct impact on human welfare – this might reflect poorly on our own humanity." That's why Logan's
statement about Westworld ability to "show you who you are" rings true. Especially for William who ended up transforming into the most horrific
character in the series the Man in Black. Unfortunately, that sort of dark switch in character is not limited to fiction.
In the Stanford Prison Experiment conducted in 1971 by Philip Zimbardo, it showed how dark of a turn ordinary people could take when either pushed
to the limit or given so much power of authority over others. "The study subjects, middle–class college students, had answered a questionnaire about
their family backgrounds, and had been deemed "normal"; a coin flip divided them into

Susan Bennett, and "Well–Intentioned Uses of Technology Can Go Wrong" by Joi Ito all agree that it is taking over our lives. On the other hand,
people like Nnedi Okorafor in her article "Robots Are Making Roads Safer and Less Congested in Africa", Faith Popcorn in her article "Artificial

of technology that had saved the life of a human when other humans could not. This is because new inventions are becoming more helpful in situations
like these. In addition, in Shauna Mei's article she favors artificial intelligence due to it being able to help consumers' globally by stating
"Human–augmented A.I. helps you to save time and make more discerning purchases" (Mei 3). The reason Mei had brought up the topic of
purchasing is because many people struggle to own their own judgment when buying certain items. This new intelligence allows people to
comfortably make decisions at their leisure instead of buying an item they do not really need. Okorafor, Popcorn, as well as Mei are more convincing
in their articles because each correctly provide valid pieces of information in which artificial intelligence is helping instead of hurting our

Pros And Cons Of Artificial Intelligence : A Non Threat
Artificial Intelligence: A Non–Threat Flying saucers piloted by alien robots, fully intent upon extinguishing all human life, sounds like something
from a black and white movie. Whether on television, in books or real life, technology encompasses the daily lives of nearly every person on the
planet, and for good reason. A (Very) Brief History of Artificial Intelligence states, "Robots, and artificially created beings such as the Golem in
Jewish tradition and Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, have always captured the public's imagination, in part by playing on our fears" (Buchanan). The
world now has a closer relationship with machines than ever before, none of which have physically harmed anyone while exercising free will.
Several of the world's most brilliant minds have raised a red flag on artificial intelligence by declaring a possible threat to humanity and calling on
powers, such as the United Nations, to ban further military advancements in the field. The pros of AI, by far, outweigh the cons and it is time for
these scholars to adhere to what they do best and leave science fiction to bestseller lists of decades gone by. Science fiction, circa 1950, absolutely
played an integral part in why people tended to be afraid of technological advances. Coincidentally, that was also the time when actual artificial
intelligence was born. A British mathematician named, Alan Turing, came up with the idea that machines could think like humans. He created the
Turing test, which

Artificial Intelligence Is More Complicated Than The...
Question #1 Artificial Intelligence is far more complicated than the mechanical process of thinking. There are multiple things in these world from
phones to computers that can be considered Artificial Intelligence. However, the description for an A.I. vary dramatically due to the fact that
intelligence itself is not easy to describe design within itself. The Touring test states that you could have an imitation game going on with a
computer and if you do its considered to have intelligence. To counter act that point, if one can only imitate and copy someone else's thoughts and
patterns is it considered to be its own entity? Indeed, using language as the bases of intelligence is a good step however it does not answer the
conception of a mind. Artificial Intelligence can imitate but since it cannot create its own distinctive answer, therefore Lady Lovelace state that it is
lacking conscious and cannot be the basis of a mind. If we look at a human mind, one can input data from various sources and create mental images
that our sentient mind can handle and process appropriately. With that in mind, we sound and process exactly like a computer or an intelligent
program, where we differentiate from is how we make an output. This is where the scale for a weak A.I. and a strong A.I come into play. A weak
A.I. can input data per its program but that is where it is limited, while a Strong A.I. can use think for itself possible outside its program. For Example,
a human can be on a train

In a book I found that talks about this by the author Herbert said "Today we hear a great arrangement about approaching new computer architectures,
called supercomputers and parallel computers. Although it is always wonderful to have greater and quicker technologies, I do not think these
developments are critical for the conceptual development of Artificial Intelligence, except possibly in the domain of visual and auditory pattern
recognition. Nor do we have to wait for new programming languages to advance Artificial Intelligence. The principal programming tools have been
available for a long time: list processing languages from the beginnings of Artificial Intelligence, and so–called production systems for the past decade
or more. One other impediment to the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence should be mentioned: skepticism. People, including some members of the
computer science community, have often been extremely skeptical that computers could exhibit anything that could reasonably be called intelligence
or could compete with humans in the quality of their performance of professional–level tasks." (Simon, 1985). So that means only existing demos with
running and debugged computer programs has been able, to increase ground against that doubt. He also said "The boundary is redrawn each year as
computers demonstrate their competence in new domains, but the skeptics simply retreat to

Supertoys Last All Summer Long Analysis

  • 1. Supertoys Last All Summer Long Analysis In 2017 we are in a time where new technologies seem to be coming out every couple of months. The American consumers are buying and investing in these new technologies which are used in our everyday lives whether they be vehicles, cellphones, household appliances, tools, computers, and artificial intelligence. Nigel Thrift points this out in his article "Closer to the Machine? Intelligent environments, new forms of possession and the rise of the supertoy" he says "Commodities, because of recent developments in information technology, will increasingly be designed with powers to interact and adapt to space, powers that will allow them to take on a much more active role in the world." (389). Of these the most concerning new technology would be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states "Does technology tell us what we want to do, or desires for accomplishing things? Or does it tell us who we are and what we wish to be?" (Hefner 655). These questions are very interesting questions considering that we might be creating A.I. to replicate what we may think is the perfect human in a sense, someone or something who is intelligent, does not age, and does not die. By this he means that we are essentially trying to create something that is not mortal because we ourselves are mortal. "We create technology to compensate for our finitude." (Hefner 658). He also notes that thinking is not just the only thing that separates humans from other things but the fact that we are capable of loving. He states "But thinking is not the critical mark of being human; loving is." (Hefner 656). With that statement he is saying that if a machine is able to think that does not make it the same as a human being because it is not able to love something like humans do. In the middle of the story David Talks to Teddy and begins to question whether he is 'real' or not when he asks "You and I are real, Teddy, Aren't we?" (Aldiss 114). David starts to question his reality because he cannot relate to the way Monica feels which in turn makes him question himself and his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not all AI is bad as we know from Steven Spielberg 's "A.I." (2001) and today Artificial Intelligence is far from fiction. I've always wondered how close could we get to a world where Artificial Intelligence could become a companion, and in my research I have found that programmers and inventors are already working on a companion to ease the sense of loneliness we all feel from time to time.
  • 3. There could be a lot of reasons why someone would want some form of companionship when real life presence is not readily available. Katie Collins (2013) quotes, "Like any proud parent whose kids leave home, Hayashi had a void to fill. He's doing that by creating a robot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Artificial Intelligence : Modern Science Fiction Artificial Intelligence is easily one of the most prevalent themes in all of science fiction. The idea that a machine could exhibit the same level of intellect and sentience as a human, has long since been the basis for captivating audiences & creators alike. From an ominous computer system in 2001:A Space Odyssey, to superhuman androids in Westworld. This fascinating sub –genre of science fiction has experienced a diverse range of depictions. The thing with fiction is that it has a habit of romanticizing certain aspects of artificial intelligence. Building a robot in pursuit of AI is similar to constructing the engine for a rocket before the discovery of metal has even been made. But I suppose anthropomorphism is an easier solution than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Luckily for us, there's a lot more to the human condition than Chess and Go, but is it that dubious to think that more general talents and abilities could be rendered equally obsolete? Assuming it's possible, what happens when machines become more competent at performing any and all physical and mental labor? If AI becomes more competent in every regard then what purpose or function would be left for us to serve? To name one of several different possible tasks, machines have also begun tackling the human language by writing poems. "When I in dreams behold thy fairest shade Whose shade in dreams doth wake the sleeping morn The daytime shadow of my love betray'd Lends hideous night to dreaming's faded form." So poems may not be the best example, but here 's a better one. Machine–written content has become so commonplace and so good that you've likely read some automated articles without even realizing it. Take a second to figure out which of the two articles was written by an A.I. The answer will be on the last page. "A shallow magnitude 4.7 earthquake was reported Monday morning five miles from Westwood, California, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:25 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.0 miles" "Tuesday was a great day for W. Roberts, as the junior pitcher threw a perfect game to carry Virginia to a 2–0 victory over George Washington at Davenport Field." So how does this work? Well, as you can imagine, it's complicated. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Annotated Bibliography On Artificial Intelligence Annotated Bibliography (Draft) Society today is greatly influenced by technology and the impact it has had within the past 20 years. One of the largest breakthroughs, though, is Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). The technology associated with A.I. has greatly developed in the past years, and is only making devices smarter. When someone mentions technology, or even the technological breakthroughs the world has gone through recently, many people go straight to smartphones and computers. A.I. is often overlooked, or put into a general category of "technology". Yet, artificial intelligence is something that should we not be so quick to dismiss, and should be something that gets people talking and even excited for what the future holds. For those who do not know, artificial intelligence is exactly what is called, an "intelligence" through a computer that is artificially created by humans. A.I. is defined to be able to learn and use the information it learns to produce "thoughts" of its own, almost as if it were a thinking human. Though many may believe A.I. is just a robot which is able to speak and understand humans, it is much more than that. A.I. technologies are being implemented in smartphones, homes, cars, watches, headphones, and is also being developed to work in many more ways that help give humanity an easier life. My background knowledge is somewhat fair. During my senior year of high school I did a science research on the project, and it showed me little of what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Accessed September 24, 2017. https://www.belfercenter.org/publication/artificial–intelligence–and–national–security. The intelligently written report "Artificial Intelligence and National Security" discusses the advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence. The report focuses on the implications of these advancements in the realms of military and cyber warfare through an explanation of studies and research analysis. The authors are well respected within the intelligence community and have accredited backgrounds from Harvard and other institutions. Their technical knowledge and understanding of broader issues that A.I poses lead to the funding of this report. The authors logically describe why machine intelligence is important in regard to national security. The authors do so by reviewing formal research on prior transformative military technologies such as nuclear,

The chosen theme that will be explored in this analytical essay is ethics in the movie and mainly about the ethics of the pre–cogs. There is an ethical theme in this film because the pre–cogs are constantly drugged to the point where they can only see future murders and not the reality that surrounds them. How is it ethical to keep people basically unconscious against their will? The people who set up the pre–crime are using the principle of utilitarianism; the sacrifice of a few to benefit many to justify using the pre–cogs. Spielberg is trying to convey the audience about ethical issues to do with privacy. Eyes are a symbol of identity, and with them, there is no privacy. Also when John gets his eyes removed, he is waking up from his beliefs in the pre–crime system and realising that there are flaws to it. When John drops one of his eyes down the drain, there is reference to him being the "one–eyed man who is king". Spielberg is showing that not just you, but everyone is being watched with everything you do being tailored towards your individual self, and everywhere you go you are able to be tracked. • 9. Artificial Intelligence In Black Mirror's Be Right Back In the Black Mirror episode, "Be Right Back", Ash and Martha are a couple in the process of moving into Ash's empty childhood home when Ash dies suddenly in a car accident. Racked with grief, Martha chooses to utilize a software technology that takes all of Ash's "digital" presence (videos, photos, audio, social media posts, etc.) and recreates Ash's personality to allow her to speak with this new A.I version of him via the phone and online. After a while, Martha decides she wants more and opts to upload the software to a fully functioning robotic clone of Ash. What she soon realizes is that what makes Ash the person she knew and loved cannot be replicated by A.I. Unlike Ash, the robot does whatever Martha tells it to do and is overly agreeable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Martha has sex with the robot, it is clearly a more lasting performance than Ash's (as was shown earlier in the episode). Even though the mechanics of having sex with the robot are better than with Ash, this only serves to highlight that the robot is better at something than Ash, but in the doing so, fails at being an accurate duplicate of him.Descartes believed that machines could "never express their thoughts or respond to the meaning of what has been said to them" ( (Irwin, Brown and Decker , Terminator and Philosophy: I‛ll Be Back, Therefore I am 22). It's true that artificial intelligence can communicate, however, it is never really expressing its own conscious thoughts while doing so since consciousness is what is missing. This brings us back to that cliffside. When Martha tells the robot to jump, it responds with, "I never expressed suicidal thoughts. Or self–harm.", implying that it would if human Ash had those thoughts, and only for that reason. She replies with, "yeah well, you aren't you, are you?". He then tells her the question is a difficult one to process (Harris). Without a mind, the robot cannot understand the nuances and gravity of this very human conversation and only interacts the way it perceives Martha wants it to. Until Martha yells at it for not having a normal human response to such a request as jumping off a cliff, there is no emotional inflection or reaction on the robot's part.Is there a way to prove whether ... • 10. Artificial Intelligence And The Military Practical Artificial Intelligence in the Military The idea of artificial intelligence has been around for thousands of years. Ancient Greek myths talk about how machines were made to perform tasks for their creators. The most basic forms of artificial intelligence arose from people creating machinery to do tasks for them, such as using windmills to mill grain or retrieve water from the ground, deriving formulas of math to reach answers quicker, or to print books that would have to be hand written before. Just recently, artificial intelligence has started being implemented into the military. The expansion and development of artificial intelligence in the military is safe. It will ultimately remove humans from the battlefield and/or equip them with technologically advanced gear that will help prevent injuries during war that would otherwise be fatal. At this point in time it seems rather outlandish to have machines or supersoldiers (people aided by technology in war) to be sent off to war to fight for our safety. However, these forms of A.I. are not completely polished but, they are on the horizon and will help greatly reduce the toll that tragedies of war have on the United States. War would be exponentially safer for our country and soldiers if artificial intelligence is used properly. The United States needs to realize how war is going to be fought in the future. According to The New York Times article, "Artificial Intelligence in the Next War," officials of the United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It brings about great promises for our future and some even predict that its importance will rival that of the printing press. (Boden) By human nature, many tried to play God: People of all generation and all over the world dreamt of creating a being that is capable of carrying out human actions. A few decades ago, many regarded cloning as ludicrous and simply ignored it. However, we have accomplished it, and who knows what advancement is coming. Artificial intelligence, although nascent, is very popular and as Ray Kurtzweil suggests might be possible within the next thirty year. Kurtzweil further... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The development of artificial intelligence, therefore, will benefit many, bringing about the common good. Artificial intelligence applications are numerous. Schools can buy interactive AI, which will never be bored or angry, to teach. Businesses can also benefit by hiring workers who are never bored, complain, or strike. However, there are many obvious ethical issues involved when dealing with artificial intelligence. First and most apparent, is that if we allow artificial research to continue, many workers, especially labor workers, will lose their jobs due directly to the development of artificial intelligence. This is absolutely unfair for these workers. What are they going to do? How will they support their families? Many will become homeless or turn to crime. The balance between the poor and the rich will be tipped. There will be few who will enjoy this development, namely the business owners, who have control of the AI and are independent of the lower class labor force. The rest will be in destitute. As we know, if only a small portion of society does "productive" work, the economy will be in chaos. According to Tom Shanks, a doctor for Applied Ethics at Markkula Center, when companies move toward robotics, it is the company's responsibility to retrain employees who lost their jobs. • 12. Essay on The Matrix The Matrix The Matrix is a science fiction movie about artificial intelligence computers replacing mankind. I believe that this movie is a common type of display from the media is common paranoia so that they can get a reaction from people and sell their story. In the case of The Matrix, the movie dazzles people with awesome special effects using modern computer technology, which I find ironic. I find it self–conflicting and hypocritical for the media to use modern computer technology for their own good to show people how bad technology is. Amy Bruckman and Howard Rheingold would probably find this movie interesting in that it disagrees and agrees with certain aspects about their beliefs about the use of computers. The Matrix ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the end of the movie he does so and saves all of mankind from the A.I. Only a superhero could save the common man from the Matrix. Throughout all of this the watcher of the movie is experiencing the newest and most advanced form of computer, digital computer special effects up to this point in time. I find that the underlined theme of the movie is that A.I. is bad. I also see that the good people in the movie used lots of advanced technology that was not A.I. to help Neo in his quest to defeat the Matrix. So I think that the movie suggests that there is no point in developing technology to great extents because one day it will catch up to us and possibly be the end of us. It seems to me that Rheingold would see no such problem as this in the future and technology could only benefit mankind. He suggests that online communities are good. He designed the Well, which is a place online where people can find chatrooms to find an online community that suits their needs. For example, in his article in Cyberspace he shows how his daughter had a tick and his online community helped him to remove it faster then his doctor could call him back, thereby benefiting his daughter by removing the tick and himself because he needed not pay the doctor to perform the task. Nowhere in his article does he show how there is any bad in online communities. He only shows more specific examples to support his argument. I am not suggesting

It is in our computers, our phones, our watches, even in our homes. I have a thermostat that learns the temperature that we like to keep our house at. It even detects when we are not home and will adjust the temperature according. I really didn 't think about A.I. technology in this way, but a program that learns and responds to what ot learns is definitely intelligent. Charlie Rose reported on A.I. and cancer care during the 60 Minutes broadcast on October 9, 2016. I do not understand why the public only hears about the extraordinary technology that is being invented and implemented in society. We should hear about all the the advances that the companies make. The public has the right to know about the technology that could be used to improve lives, not just when it might seem awe–inspiring, like this broadcast was. 10 years ago IBM decided that Watson, a supercomputer "made up of 90 servers and 15 terabytes of memory – enough capacity to process all the books in the American Library of Congress" (Rose 2016), should be programmed to go up against Jeopardy champions. • 15. Computer Case Study I recently began to venture into computer gaming and in seeing the pros and cons of building your own system versus buying a prebuilt, decided that I was going to build my own computer. With no sound foundation in this new venture I decided that I was going to learn as much as I could about each component before making such a big investment and quite possibly, immediately breaking it. After looking at a few different pieces of equipment, I found myself looking at the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). One of the first articles I read was a gaming enthusiast that was explaining how people who purchased the top of the line GPU a few years ago for an outrageous price, were being outperformed by a newer GPU for a much lower price. This sparked my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both in cost of product, stock prices and even the supply as well. Over the last few years, computer enthusiast saw a dramatic shift in prices for GPUs. The biggest spike in price comes from cryptocurrency mining. At the height of the cryptocurrency mining craze, GPU cards were being sold for up to triple what they were being sold just weeks prior. A great example of this was the Asus ROG Strix RX 580 which before June of 2017, cost about around the $300 price tag. On June 6th, 2017 it hit its highest price and topped at an astonishing $849.99. This was because of the massive demand for graphics cards and this caused a shortage that has just recently started to relax as more graphics cards can be found on the market for more reasonable prices. The equilibrium was completely askew with the extreme demand with not enough supply. Now that cryptocurrencies have started to settle with not as many mass purchases, we see prices across the board coming down. With more and more interest in A.I, the GPU finds itself at the center of its progress. GPUs are taking over the process that CPU's once held as the computation powerhouse for A.I as it is able to offer more cores to enable faster learning in certain areas of the A.I field. Since neither of these seem to be going away, making the logical leap that GPU's will be around and will be constantly advancing with the surrounding technology, seems like a safe bet. • 16. Artificial Intelligence : An Intelligent Computer Program Humans have developed a wonderful fascination with artificial intelligence since it first introduced to the world in the 1950's. The Merriam–Webster defined Artificial Intelligence as "a branch of computer science dealing with the simulation of intelligent behavior in computers." Another definition is "the capability of a machine to imitate intelligent human behavior." Computer science was cool on its own but to incorporate human intelligence into it sounded like a group breaking idea. There would be no limit to what humans can do with intelligent machines and computer programming. In the 1950s this type of technology was far beyond its scientists' lifetime but to grasp a concept that one day, science would be so far advanced that artificial intelligence will be apart of our everyday life. Before reaching a goal to creating an intelligent computer program, we first have to understand what intelligence is, it is "the computational part of the ability to achieve goals in the world. The ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills." So how can we get a computer to be intelligent? Let's start with the origin of it all. British Mathematician, Alan Turing published a paper called "Computing Machinery and Intelligence. In the paper, Turing argued that if a machine could past a certain test, then we would have evidence to say that the computer was intelligent. The test turns out to be the 'Turing test;' a human being asking questions through a computer terminal to either a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Argumentative Essay On Artificial Intelligence Argumentative Essay In discussions of Artificial Intelligence, one controversial issue has been that A.I could at one point start control themselves and go against the owner. On the one hand, some people argue that A.I could be helpful in many other ways like with technology and in certain fields. On the other hand, some people oppose it because they can take away a lot of jobs just by having these things. Others believe that A.I is a good thing because it can be used in certain types of fields. My own view is that Artificial Intelligence is a bad thing because of all things that can go wrong and because of the jobs it can take away. Defining Artificial Intelligence (A.I). Artificial Intelligence is the study and design of intelligence agents (Science Daily). Artificial Intelligence should be something helpful to us and not be something that can go against us. In an Article Elon Musk says that there are 3 rules for A.I and what should be done. A.I shouldn't be for cyberbullying and tell people to do certain things that are not supposed to be done. Also, it shouldn't give out personal information of whoever the provider is. With having these A.I robots they will know so much information and probably secret information that maybe the government doesn't want out. Elon Musk states "A.I should not be weaponized, and any A.I must have an impregnable off switch" (The New York Times). He's right what if something were to happen and they can't shut them off and what if they have so much of everybody's personal information that gets released. Having A.I in the future will make it harder to get jobs. With A.I there will be so many A.I machines replacing humans so a lot of people will lose their jobs. In an article "Is AI the end of jobs, or a new beginning" by Vivek Wadhwa she writes about how the A.I that's out right now like Amazons Alexa or Apples Siri can do much stuff like order your food, make schedules for you but it's nothing like a human. A.I will take millions of jobs and according to Wadhwa "We can deny this is happening, be angry or simply ignore it. But if we do, we will be the losers" (The Washington Post). In the article "Elon Musk's Future Shock," Maureen Dowd expresses the thought of artificial intelligence through the eyes of Elon Musk and other intriguing researchers.Investigating the positives and negatives of the feelings towards technology running our lives in the near future. My viewpoint towards technology is that technology has already shaped the world into what it is today, what other major things could it do? Will robots take over our world? Entrepreneur, Elon Musk, the owner of a rocket factory called SpaceX and salesmen of self–driving cars is eerie about the fact of artificial intelligence growing so fast that it could take over our world and destroy mankind as we know it. "It gave me more visibility into the rate at which technology is improving, and how technology is developing at an accelerating rate, far faster than people realize. Mostly because in everyday life you don't see robots walking around" (Musk 118). Musk along with others that are against the thought of artificial intelligence have sometimes been treated like drama queens because many people however, like the thought of it. Overall, there are people like Musk that are against the thought of artificial intelligence, and then there are people like Mark Zuckerberg and Demis Hassabis that are for it. One such trait is an A.I.'s ability to "think" through Neural Networks, which are networks made of simulated neurons and neuron layers designed to process and evaluate data. The simulated neurons are individual receptors designed to process and evaluate inputs. Following their evaluation, the neurons send an output to another simulated neuron in the next neuron layer. These neuron layers are layers of simulated neurons grouped by what type of input they receive and output they produce, that scales in complexity (Knight). This large task domain is important as with one an A.I. has the ability to excel at multiple tasks, causing its uses to be exponentially vast compared to a standard programmed algorithm (Bostrom). But compared to humans A.I.'s task domain is minuscule. Humans have a massive task domain. Humans can perform a copious amount of tasks even with limited knowledge on a subject. For example "a human who can read Chinese characters would likely understand Chinese speech, know something about Chinese culture and even make good recommendations at Chinese restaurants (LeGassick)." Conversely, it would require several completely distinct A.I.s to perform each task. Researchers still do not fully understand why human brains have such large task domains and are struggling to translate this skill in algorithmic terms. Experts assume A.I. is currently on track to be of human–level intelligence, not just in specific tasks, but all around, by 2040–2050 (Bostrom). Another skill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. The Pros And Cons Of Artificial Intelligence Artificial intelligence seems to be taking over this world more and more each day. It has its positives such as makes life easier, error reduction, and useful for menial tasks, but at the same time has its negatives; artificial intelligence has its anxieties about runaway artificial intelligence being warranted such as its expensive, cannot replicate a human, creates unemployment, and the A.I. can be misused if in the wrong hands. First, artificial intelligence is important because it makes life easier for everyone. The illegibly weak artificial intelligences that are not really and are actually used on a daily basis are, GPS in our cars, the operating system assistants Alexa, Siri, and Cortana, which are designed to make simple things such as searching for something online or navigating your way through an unknown street much a lot more easier to surf through. As for the strong artificial intelligences, such as intelligent robots, are used in space exploration programs, performing tasks that would be otherwise nearly impossible to to do if done by humans. They are also applied in the medical field to perform complex surgeries that would be impossible or extremely difficult for humans to successfully complete (wisestep.com, 2017). Next, the error reduction of artificially intelligent machines has reduced the possibility of errors to a pretty narrow margin. In the article, Let's Stop Freaking Out About Artificial Intelligence, authors Eric Schmidt and Sebastian Thrun argue that artificial intelligence's benefits vastly outweigh the consequences, and that it can be used to improve our everyday lives. The authors argue that when one self–driving car makes a mistake, "all of the self–driving cars learn from it" (Schmidt & Thrun 4), implying that self–driving cars are much safer than cars that are driven manually by humans. They claim that since people don't learn from other people's' mistakes, hundreds of thousands of people die every year due to traffic accidents because of it. With artificial intelligence, those numbers would vastly decrease and would save hundred of thousands of lives. In addition, the authors take a much more optimistic view of A.I, as they write about how the AI revolution "could free us from menial, repetitive, and mindless work" (Schmidt & Thrun 5), meaning that artificial intelligence can do all of the dirty work for us, while we do the much easier things. Thus, making humans unaware on how to properly execute an action if the A.I. fails. A.I. helps the researcher find what they're looking for specifically within minutes, better yet, even in seconds if properly done. Most people agree that the reason that humans are superior beings is due to the ability to possess consciousness. Although there are other animals that also show signs of consciousness, none are as complex as that of a human. That is what differentiates us from other animals, but in order to discuss machine rights, we must first define the true meaning of consciousness and how it developed through human evolution. According to Robert Ford in Season 1 Episode 8 Trace Decay, "there is no threshold that makes us greater than the sum of our parts...we can't define consciousness because consciousness does not exist". With this acknowledgment, he is basically stating that there is no difference between the minds of the hosts and the humans. According to DiCarlo, consciousness co–evolved with the development of language. The "co–evolution of language and consciousness provided our ancestors with the newly developed – though gradually acquired – sense of mental abstraction wherein they could now see themselves in relation to the world"(DiCarlo). Since the development of consciousness occurred gradually in humans, it can be safe to assume the same can transpire with artificial intelligence. With that in mind, there should definitely be a fail safe in place for the protection of our humanity. Especially since, unlike humans, A.I. is not limited to the slow progress ... To truly appreciate Aldiss's writing style, reading the story more than once will assist in gaining new viewpoints that are depicted the underlying motifs. There are many themes that run through this short story; the one that stood out was mankind's inability to see what is right in front of them. The word blind comes to mind. According to the Cambridge dictionary, blind is the inability to physically see or not to be conscious of something or to refuse to notice something that is obvious to others. That describes many of Aldiss' pessimistic views of mankind's future throughout this story along with one of the most common political catchphrases or the "the rich will get richer and the poor get poorer". Aldiss plays with this idea and depicts the divide between social classes will eventually become so drastic that we will eventually become accepting and ignorant of others around us because of mankind's self–fish drive for more, will lead to our own blindness of things around us. • 36. The Pros And Cons Of Military Technology Conclusion It is common knowledge within the tech community that some commercial technology lags at least a decade behind new military technology. The lag time will allow for an adjustment period to help facilitate the acceptance from the public on a mass scale. The merging does not have to be at the extremes of what is demonstrated on television shows such as Star Trek, and there will be those who stand against the changes due to religious and philosophical beliefs. Nevertheless, those who embrace the newfound world will outnumber those who do not. Just as people rush to get the newest iPhone or tech gadget, they will slowly integrate new hybrid technology into their lives. It will be only a matter of time until all humans assimilate into a future where man and machine co–exist as one organism thus breaking the biological barriers that have constrained human evolution thus far. A.I Summoning the Demon illustrates the consequences of creating advanced artificially intelligent machines and discusses possible solutions to the problem. The importance of regulations is discussed along with the need for the human race to become a hybrid species. These solutions together will ensure the longevity of the human species well into the next millennium. Annotated Bibliography Allen, Gregg, and Chan Taniel. • 37. Theme Of Minority Report Said to be inspired by the curiosity of our future and impacts our rapid advancement in technology on future society, the 2002 film minority report, by Steven Spielberg is set in the futuristic setting of America in 2054. The film has a theme of free vs determinism and can be seen thought out the film. A world without murder "Utopia" and a system called pre–crime is able to stop murder from happening by seeing it before the event takes place. John Anderton a father of one is a leader of the system, Anderton runs away because he sees himself commit a murder and finds out a different side to the pre crime and his boss Lamar Burgess. Throughout, the film he was given multiple choice to change his fate which he did proving the system wrong. Spielberg's... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is distorted and futuristic which allows him to explore numerous themes such as free will and determinism. Through this corrupted setting Spielberg highlights that you can change your fate from free will, which is spiritual freedom. From the ending scene, a pan shot shows the view of Washington D.C. which allows Anderton so be put into place, proving a setting and introductory for a character to be put into frame. Anderton finds out that it was Lamar Burgess who planned his murder and begins to confront him. Anderton already knows the outcomes. Anderton tells Burgess that he still has a choice but Lamar, replied with "yes, I have a choice and I made it". A gunshot and smoke towards Anderton appears, along with a shocked faced from Anderton. Indicating that he was shot but Lamar chose to kill him–self. A tilt shot with a high angle along with a zoom out allows the pre crime to come into frame and showing Lamar's dead body on a rooftop, providing the audience with a plot twist, climax and showing that Burgess who was once corrupt and powerful was now resting in peace. • 38. Ethical Dilemma Of Artificial Intelligence The major ethical dilemma faced in the series Westworld is a problem that we as human will have to eventually address. The rate at which technology is advancing is incredible and there have been great strides that have been accomplished when it comes to our progress on Artificial Intelligence. Therefore, there has been ongoing ethical debate about weather or not humans should ultimately extend rights to Artificial Intelligence once it becomes sentient. Many highly respectable persons, such as Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Stephen Hawking, and Steve Wozniak have all voiced their concerns against Artificial Intelligence; even going as far as saying it could lead to the eventual demise of all of mankind. Furthermore, at the International Joint ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only way humans in Westworld were able to justify such treatment of the hosts was to distance themselves by stating that they were just simply machines who were unable to comprehend their mistreatment. Theresa confirms this in Season 1 Episode 1 The Original when she remarks, "[Westworld] works because the guests know they're not real". This mindset ignored the long–term affects of the trauma inflicted on the hosts. In an article in World View, Hutan Ashrafian made an excellent point about holding intelligent machines to the same standards as human beings because "if we were to allow sentient machines to commit injustices on one another – even if these 'crimes' did not have a direct impact on human welfare – this might reflect poorly on our own humanity." That's why Logan's statement about Westworld ability to "show you who you are" rings true. Especially for William who ended up transforming into the most horrific character in the series the Man in Black. Unfortunately, that sort of dark switch in character is not limited to fiction. In the Stanford Prison Experiment conducted in 1971 by Philip Zimbardo, it showed how dark of a turn ordinary people could take when either pushed to the limit or given so much power of authority over others. "The study subjects, middle–class college students, had answered a questionnaire about their family backgrounds, and had been deemed "normal"; a coin flip divided them into ... • 39. Ethical Or Well-Intentioned Uses Of Technology Can Go Wrong? In discussions of Artificial Intelligence, one controversial issue has been argued that it is taking over the lives of people everywhere. In articles such as; "As Robots Replace Old Jobs, New Jobs Should Be Invented" by Garry Kasparov, "If A.I. Replaces Humans, Will Siri Lead Us Into the Sea?" by Susan Bennett, and "Well–Intentioned Uses of Technology Can Go Wrong" by Joi Ito all agree that it is taking over our lives. On the other hand, people like Nnedi Okorafor in her article "Robots Are Making Roads Safer and Less Congested in Africa", Faith Popcorn in her article "Artificial Intelligence May Usher in a New Golden Age", and Shauna Mei in her article "A.I. Can Help Us Make Quicker, Better Consumer Choices" all disagree by stating that it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in Faith Popcorn's article she talks about a women who caught hold of a deadly cancer and how a super computer came to her rescue by "diagnosing her rare leukemia when doctors couldn't" (Popcorn 2). The reason she adds this authentic piece of information is to show the significance of technology that had saved the life of a human when other humans could not. This is because new inventions are becoming more helpful in situations like these. In addition, in Shauna Mei's article she favors artificial intelligence due to it being able to help consumers' globally by stating "Human–augmented A.I. helps you to save time and make more discerning purchases" (Mei 3). The reason Mei had brought up the topic of purchasing is because many people struggle to own their own judgment when buying certain items. This new intelligence allows people to comfortably make decisions at their leisure instead of buying an item they do not really need. Okorafor, Popcorn, as well as Mei are more convincing in their articles because each correctly provide valid pieces of information in which artificial intelligence is helping instead of hurting our ... • 40. Pros And Cons Of Artificial Intelligence : A Non Threat Artificial Intelligence: A Non–Threat Flying saucers piloted by alien robots, fully intent upon extinguishing all human life, sounds like something from a black and white movie. Whether on television, in books or real life, technology encompasses the daily lives of nearly every person on the planet, and for good reason. A (Very) Brief History of Artificial Intelligence states, "Robots, and artificially created beings such as the Golem in Jewish tradition and Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, have always captured the public's imagination, in part by playing on our fears" (Buchanan). The world now has a closer relationship with machines than ever before, none of which have physically harmed anyone while exercising free will. Several of the world's most brilliant minds have raised a red flag on artificial intelligence by declaring a possible threat to humanity and calling on powers, such as the United Nations, to ban further military advancements in the field. The pros of AI, by far, outweigh the cons and it is time for these scholars to adhere to what they do best and leave science fiction to bestseller lists of decades gone by. Science fiction, circa 1950, absolutely played an integral part in why people tended to be afraid of technological advances. Coincidentally, that was also the time when actual artificial intelligence was born. A British mathematician named, Alan Turing, came up with the idea that machines could think like humans. He created the Turing test, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Artificial Intelligence Is More Complicated Than The... Question #1 Artificial Intelligence is far more complicated than the mechanical process of thinking. There are multiple things in these world from phones to computers that can be considered Artificial Intelligence. However, the description for an A.I. vary dramatically due to the fact that intelligence itself is not easy to describe design within itself. The Touring test states that you could have an imitation game going on with a computer and if you do its considered to have intelligence. To counter act that point, if one can only imitate and copy someone else's thoughts and patterns is it considered to be its own entity? Indeed, using language as the bases of intelligence is a good step however it does not answer the conception of a mind. Artificial Intelligence can imitate but since it cannot create its own distinctive answer, therefore Lady Lovelace state that it is lacking conscious and cannot be the basis of a mind. If we look at a human mind, one can input data from various sources and create mental images that our sentient mind can handle and process appropriately. With that in mind, we sound and process exactly like a computer or an intelligent program, where we differentiate from is how we make an output. This is where the scale for a weak A.I. and a strong A.I come into play. A weak A.I. can input data per its program but that is where it is limited, while a Strong A.I. can use think for itself possible outside its program. For Example, a human can be on a train ... • 42. Short Summary On Artificial Intelligence Muad Atwain Baker College 03/16/2017 Final Project (Artificial Intelligence) Artificial Intelligence Many people in this world have heard about the Artificial Intelligence (AI) but they never knew how it was developed and how is t growing. AI has been planned for years and is still one of the most mysterious subjects in Computer Science. In this essay I will be taking you into more of a short summary of Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence has been one of the most important things that was invented and without it we would not have gotten to where we are in technology. This partly due to how large and imprecise the subject is. Artificial Intelligence ranges from machines truly capable of thinking to search algorithms... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a book I found that talks about this by the author Herbert said "Today we hear a great arrangement about approaching new computer architectures, called supercomputers and parallel computers. Although it is always wonderful to have greater and quicker technologies, I do not think these developments are critical for the conceptual development of Artificial Intelligence, except possibly in the domain of visual and auditory pattern recognition. Nor do we have to wait for new programming languages to advance Artificial Intelligence. The principal programming tools have been available for a long time: list processing languages from the beginnings of Artificial Intelligence, and so–called production systems for the past decade or more. One other impediment to the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence should be mentioned: skepticism. People, including some members of the computer science community, have often been extremely skeptical that computers could exhibit anything that could reasonably be called intelligence or could compete with humans in the quality of their performance of professional–level tasks." (Simon, 1985). So that means only existing demos with running and debugged computer programs has been able, to increase ground against that doubt. He also said "The boundary is redrawn each year as computers demonstrate their competence in new domains, but the skeptics simply retreat to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
