Reddi Wip Argument Essay
Whether it be after a large meal and everyone has cleared their plates and the dessert utensils are coming out, one product seems to always be in
conjunction with the desserts themselves, whipped cream. Whipped cream goes splendidly well with any type of dessert. But there is one brand of
whipped cream that is better than the rest, favored by most Americans and most well know. That brand is Reddi–Wip. Reddi–Wip was invented in
1948 and still has a large impact on the dessert world today. I think the product of Reddi–Whip is an interesting artifact that fits well with the theme of
Science and Technology because it is not a product directly found in nature, when first created people needed to experiment with it to find out the best
way to serve... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process of making basic whip cream can be done at home quite easily. All one needs to is place heavy whipping cream into a bowl and whatever
flavoring desired into a bowl and start whisking. After a couple of minutes the contents of the bowl will be look light and airy. Now one would think
that was how the cans of Reddi–Wip are prepared, but with the advances of technology that is not the case. Cans are filled with the machine stirred
ingredients. Although the main ingredient is still cream in this process the product would not be as popular if all it had was cream. The second main
ingredient is sugar, although each flavor of Reddi–Wip has less than two–percent of the recommended grams of sugar per serving, with thirty–seven
servings in one six and a half ounce can. After all the miscellaneous ingredients are added there comes a very specific ingredient, this allows the
contents of the can to be spun around to release the favored topping. Nitrous oxide is a chemical that is primarily used for doctor performed surgical
purposes, to put the patients asleep while they are being operated on. But once placed in a can with cream and sugar it helps whirl the ingredients
together to create the whipped goodness that we place onto our desserts. Through technological breakthroughs Reddi–Wip has been able safely add
minimal amounts of this chemical to their product to enhance it to create the desired whipped and light form they intended

The Importance Of Mcmahan's Decision To Go To The Military
Now it is easy for an individual to tell someone to not do something without knowing the full extent of that person's limitations. For example, I can
tell my best friend to purchase a ticket to go to my wedding that is in the Dominican, and if he doesn't come to my wedding, it is an indication that
he does not value our friendship. On the surface, it sounds like a fair assessment. Now, what if I tell you now that my friend is living in his car and
has about 2 dollars in his bank account. Certainly, you would not expect me to be upset if he doesn't come down to my wedding now, as he is
severely limited in his monetary capabilities to physically be at my wedding. This same principle should apply to McMahan in regards to soldiers in
economic duress, but as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That being said, McMahan has no right to essentially scold an individual for not being able to fix a financial situation without knowing the
circumstances to which that individual was put in that predicament. Now I acknowledge that McMahan could counter this argument by saying that
due to the high rate of mortality, the decision to go to war must not be taken lightly. As such, anyone with financial strains on the verge of entering
a war that could be unjust should simply do something else to find money and sustain their survival. This is a fair assessment, as individuals
should look to all possible courses of action when deliberating a major decision like entering a war. That being said, I challenge, McMahan to say
the same if he is in a position of severe economic duress, to the point of starvation and still want to take the time to find a way past this other than
war if the choice was provided to him. There would be no way of this happening because he will physically not be in a position to choose because his
body is withering

Positive Keys To Anne Frank
Positive Keys Anne Frank was a really positive person even in some of the darkest times. "Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy,"–
Anne Frank. A vast majority of people approach conflicts and situations negatively. Still, one of the best ways to approach any situation in with a
positive attitude, at least, in my opinion. Being positive can create a better outlook in life and a wonderful living for any individual. All you need to
do is change the way you see the world. Changing the way you see the world can change many things for a single person, who can spread it to others
through sheer positive emotions. Positivity is contagious.
When Anne was in the middle of a war, trapped in hiding, and an extremely low chance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rosa once said, "I have learned over the years that when one's mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with
fear." She is saying that if you keep your mind in a positive frame for so long, you can be better to yourself and others. You can be a better person to
yourself and keep things in line. It can also give you a sense of control over some situations, make you feel you can make change. Being able to find
yourself in control can be really calming to some people. It creates a sense of self aware, reality, calmness. Many different forms of the words in
positive ways can be relaxing.
On the other hand, people chose to respond with negativity. Using their emotions to help let out a possible build up of everything they have been
holding back. Things like frustration, stress, sadness, and anger cannot be held up for so long. If you keep them all to yourself, you can cause something
even worse. From some experience in handling people during these times, the negative emotions that are held up can cause one to believe the self
destruct button is the only way out. If they cannot express themselves by emotional means, they cannot set themselves apart from the grief that has

Who Is The 'Le Supplice De Fouet'?
Since, this painting was oil painted in 1849, this is a good source. First of all, it shows the scene which the African slave is tied to the ground and
being whipped. This painting shows a slave (a figure lying down on the ground) and the overseer giving the punishment to the slave (figure standing
up). This slave was a fugitive and tried to leave the plantation by himself. It shows a good example about the punishments applied to the slaves. This
painting wasn't drawn in the place where the slave got whipped but it was told by the white people who has witnessed that scene. Originally, this
painting was advertised by the "Le Supplice de Fouet" (the whipping man) and scheduled to be exhibited/shown to the leaders involved in the slave

Situational Ethics InSalvation, By Langston Hughes
In Langston Hughes essay "Salvation" he reveals how as a child he was plagued with the feeling of guilt and remorse when he had lied. Hughes was
taught that lying was a sin but at the time he felt as though he was doing the right thing. In society people are taught to always be honest but there is a
certain extent people go to because of the way they are supposed to conduct themselves in public. Although since children are more openly spoken and
majority don't have the best manners overtime they are taught to what extent of honesty is acceptable. Situational ethics is not taught but in a way it's
like common sense because being completely honest at times can come out as being rude depending on the situation. Hughes uses morals and children
to reveal how easy it is for young to be pulled towards situational ethics.
In a social setting there are morals society abides by for example being honest. But people know that with honesty there is a certain point you can go
before it starts becoming disrespectful. That is where situational ethics comes into play because sometimes the things people say should be filtered at
some degree. Situational ethics can also be considered a way of lying but at times it feels like lying is your only way out of a situation. In reality people
lie every day, and there are times in which it is not seen as a bad thing because there are situations in which people don't want to be one hundred
percent honest with one another as it might come out as an insult. Although there are times in which lying is not necessary and at that point it could be
viewed as something bad but there are times where somethings should be kept to yourselves. Even though it seems like a bad thing people have been
taught that the way people treat each other and the way people view each other is more important than just a simple lie
As a child you are taught right from wrong but you are not specifically taught what situational ethics are because it is something that is self–taught.
Since children are more outspoken and truthfully honest some things they do say can be seen as rude but they are saying the things adults cannot say.
Children are the versions of people you would have been if it weren't for society and it's

Paul's Case Essay
Paul's Case
Paul was a self–oriented boy, concerned with money, wealth, and glamour, raised in a Calvinist household that supported these ideals. Through my
research I have decided that Paul's eventual fate was not any one person's fault. Paul was just as much to blame as his father and teachers for Paul's
suicide.
Paul was never content with his house on Cordelia Street and was always dreaming about "movin' on up" while he worked at Carnegie Hall and
watched the actors and actresses move about in their stately attire and live in the most luxurious of hotel suites. Because of this dream to get out of the
area in which he lived, Paul hardly ever got along with his teachers and his father. The thought of taking full advantage of... Show more content on

Paul's only chance, it seemed was to steal the money he needed and live off of it for as long as he could.
Paul stole more than $1000, enough to live for a month in New York City, at the time of the story, and only if spent cautiously. But, no... Paul
would have none of that. It would have been a waste to have more money than he had ever seen in his life, and yet live just as he had throughout
his life. He wanted to live in style, the way the rich folks did. So, Paul spent the money within a week on all the best clothes, the best food, the best
hotel room, the best flowers, and the best life. The money disappeared within a week and Paul was forced to leave it all behind and return to the
dreariness of middle class existence.
Paul's damaged psyche could not bear to return the living–dead life that he hoped he had left behind forever, so he removed the living part with the
help of a very large, very loud locomotive.
Paul's father had abused him emotionally, and probably physically, throughout Paul's life. He did so much to Paul's flagging self–image that he had to
boast to others to make himself feel big, when he felt tiny inside. When he finally achieved that "bigness" that he always wanted, the glamour of "the
good life," his father found him out and took that away from him, or rather, made Paul give it up. This made Paul feel even smaller and made him
feel that he would be better off dead. So Paul decided to make his life "better off" and

14 Year Olds-Personal Narrative
One stormy dark night me and 3 of my friends were about to the unthinkable for a bunch of 14 year olds. My friend Dave was wearing a black shirt
with a black beanie black pants and a backpack filled with things we were gonna need for what we were about to do. My other friend joe was
wearing the same thing as Dave. And my other friend Zane was wearing the same thing as Dave and Joe. we all pretty much wearing the same thing.
There was a reason for wearing all black. It's because their was no trespassing on the property so that way if the cops came driving around near the
house we could easily hide. We were about to step foot on the most frightful house of all time.
We were gonna go into the old fowler house. It was supposedly haunted by one of the old fowler residents. the house was over 100 years old so we
had no problem believing that the house was haunted. The house was hidden in the forest behind the dancing trees. As we approached the front door of
the house we immediately heard a loud thud coming from inside the house. My friends jumped as we heard the loud noise.
I was the brave one out of the group. I turned the doorknob to the front door so we could enter. I could tell my friends were hesitant about going in the
house. We heard another thud from upstairs. It almost sounded as if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sparta DBQ Essay
Any society that abuses children should crumble .Sparta was an ancient Greek city–state. They valued military strength above anything else. They did
not teach academics, farming, or anything else besides military tactics. The weakness outweighed strengths because they lacked education , they
abused their children and their society did not last more than 300 years.
To begin with, The Spartans lacked education. In document D the text states, "[The Spartans] learned to read and write for purely practical reasons:
but all other forms of education they banned from the country," Spartans were not allowed to read books or treatises. They could not perform in plays
or criticize the government. They could not form their own opinion.
Secondly, they only lasted for a little over 300 years. In the Background Essay it says, "During these years, Sparta was under terrific pressure, fighting
Athens and the same time looking over its shoulder at a restless helot population at home. These two factors led to the Spartans down ... Show more

in hopes that their feet would get use to any type of land. The boys were also encouraged to steal food but were whipped if they were caught. Not
only were they whipped for stealing, but they were whipped during the Flagellation where they were sometimes whipped to the point of death.
Although, Sparta had weaknesses they did have the strongest military of their time. The Spartan army perfected a battle formation called the phalanx
that is still talked about today. Sparta's weaknesses still outweigh the strengths because of the reasons I listed above, they lacked education, they didn't

Werner By Jo Ann Beard Analysis
When disaster strikes, two responses exist: lose hope, or find an inner strength to rise above. "Werner" is an essay where the author, Jo Ann Beard,
presents the idea of rediscovering yourself, rebuilding a life after loss, and rising above adversity. Werner, Beard's main character, finds that the only
way to truly move on after a tragedy is to take a leap into what is unfamiliar. After a fire burns down everything Werner has, he is forced to grow and
become a new man, leaving his old life behind. Throughout the essay, Beard illustrates a man who faces challenges to his sense ofself, and who
sequentially must change and become someone new to find who he is again. Beard's use of the third person, candid diction, and conflict resolution
compose an elaborate work that focuses on the concept of becoming a new and better person after a traumatic event. Though Beard is retelling
Werner's story, she does not do so through the first person. It is told through the eyes of a narrator, who knows more about the situation than Werner
himself, at the time. For example, the narrator knows the cause of the fire and the fact that Werner will never be the same, "old Werner" (Werner 21).
This extra knowledge engages the reader more with the story. On the other hand, even though the narrator knows more contextual details, they still
provide insight into what Werner isfeeling, as he is coping with the reality of being physically pushed "forward into something new and unfamiliar"
(Werner 13).

Narrative Essay On The Eiffel Tower
I woke up thinking about the contest again, but I pushed it aside and got ready to go touring again and today we were going to the Eiffel Tower. We
headed out at 10:00am and drove there in a cab, we arrived and the view from our room was no match to the real–deal, it was outstanding and a lot
bigger than I imaged too. We got in line for tickets and it didn't take to long, so we found our tour guide, so that she could take us up in it, I was
nervous and excited at the same time because I don't like heights, but I do love scenery. We went up in an elevator to the "first floor" or the first
platform and let me tell you,it was as beautiful as a thousand roses, literally, there was thousands of roses everywhere, it was magnificent. After a
while we got back on the elevator to go to the top and on the way up the tour guide told us that it is about 108 floor tall, twice the size of the one is
Vegas. The elevator stopped and we stepped out. The breeze was perfect and so was the weather, we walked out to a telescope and plopped in a
quarter. All I could say was "wow," my mom and dad were almost speechless too. Once we got up there I realized i wasn't afraid anymore, hopefully
the contest was going to be the same way, I took it all in, along with a thousand photos my mom took of us and everything else. We kept looking at
everything, it was like nothing I've ever experienced before, it was perfect and so delicate, words were not enough to explain it. The city was
busy and all the cars and people looked like ants, the park around us was perfect, the grass, the trees everything seemed so perfect around us, at
least until it started to pour rain. We ran into the elevator and luckily there was enough room for all of us because there were people who didn't get
in and i was sure they were drenched by now. After some time we got to the bottom and ran to our cab as fast as cheetahs, but it didn't matter, we
were drenched as well. We got in our cab and drove to our hotel to change and dry off. We wandered the hotel after we changed, to look at all the
paintings and statues. It stopped raining after a little while and we decided to go shopping around the boutiques, the look of the boutiques made me

If women were to have a job outside of the home, it would most likely be of a domestic or personal service, which was low pay and involved poor
working conditions. Many women during this era struggled, especially single women who had to fend for themselves and find a decent job just to
stay afloat. Lilly's character seems to ignore this standard and takes after Cragg's advice. We first see Lilly take action upon Craggs "words of
wisdom", while she is on a train to New York. The guard tries to kick her off but she confidently uses her sexuality to lure the man off into the
distance. We know that her manipulation succeeds because the next scene is of her in New York City. Lilly has quickly been able to use her power as a
woman to get what she wants and it doesn 't end there. She finds herself at the personnel office, after multiple women before her are seen walking out,
rejected, she continues to ask for a job. Even though she doesn't have any experience or qualifications, she knows that she can overcome this issue by
giving the man what he wants, in a state where he most vulnerable, sex. Throughout the film, Lilly recognizes the different men that work in the
building and the power and wealth that each obtain;she doesn't waste any time with men of a low status. The other women in the building seem to

Hate Crimes: The Rise And Fall Of The Ku Klux K.
A different cult called the Ku Klux Klan has been a thorn to the side of America. KKK has led many hate crimes that have gone against the United
States constitution. For instance in the 1960s they put themselves in opposition of the civil rights movement by supporting racial segregation of the
blacks and whites by means of beating, whipping, and murdering thousands upon thousands of people. (Wormser) Indeed this group is rightly
classified as a cult because "people admire and care about something or someone very much or too much" (Merriam–Webster) and this group strongly
cares that racial segregation is upheld. The point is that this religious group believes that white people are supreme. And that Jews, homosexuals,

must be noted that there is no one Ku Klux Klan there are several fragmented groups with varying leaders nevertheless they all support the same

Creams and Custard Recipes
CrГЁme Anglaise
CrГЁme Anglaise is made of egg yolks, sugar and milk (or combination of milk and cream). It is usually flavored with vanilla pod or natural vanilla
extract, but it can be aromatized with chocolate, liqueurs, nuts or spices.
CrГЁme Anglaise
Yield: 350 g
Milk 250 g
Sugar 75 g
Egg yolks 80 g
Vanilla pod
Put milk, half of sugar and split vanilla pod in a saucepan and put on a stove.
Blanch egg yolks and rest of the sugar.
When milk and sugar is hot, around 80В°C, pour some of the hot liquid over egg yolks and stir well. This procedure is called tempering.
Pour the milk and yolk mixture to the pan and put it all back on stove. Cook stirring constantly until cream reaches 84В°C. You can use thermometer to
determine the temperature or you can make a test with a wooden spoon. When you coat the back of a spoon and go with your finger along. If the
cream doesn't run through the line, it has right consistency. It should be a little bit thicker than milk and it shouldn't contain any visible specs.
Be careful not to overcook the cream because the yolks will curdle and you will not be able to fix that.
When it is done, strain through a sieve and cool.
CrГЁme Chantilly
CrГЁme Chantilly is simply lightly whipped cream flavored with a little bit of sugar and vanilla. Weather you are making it with a whisk or with a

The Longest Memory Summary
Tanner Stark History 100 Mary Borg 30 November 2017 "The Longest Memory" Book Understanding When people think of slavery today they
think of all blacks being treated unfairly and beaten all the time. Slavery is a serious and very rough topic due to the horror stories of beatings and
how poorly some of the slaves were treated. That was not the case for all slaves, in fact some slaves had it easier than others depending on the
overseers and the behavior of the slaves. Some were treated well and had love interests with their owners and some would look more to their
religion of Christianity for how they should treat their slaves, which was usually less harsh. There are many factors that come into play when
talking about the life of a slave in the south before the Civil War. In this paper I will talk a lot about different ways and reasons why slaves were
treated the way they were, how the newspaper talks about the slave life and what the true meaning of "The Longest Memory" is. Slave owners
viewed slaves in several different ways, which can be put into three categories. First is the discipline category. The discipline category consists of a
heavy hand which is used for slaves who disobey. Discipline with a heavy hand is very brutal. They use discipline to show the slaves that they need
to behave because they will whip you as much as they need to in order to keep the slaves in line and stop trying to run away. In the book "The
Longest Memory" by Fred D'Aguiar, one of the

Police data published by Daily Mail on the Internet, provides evidence suggesting that one crime is committed every five seconds in the United

average too many crimes are committed everyday, and while this data is a reliable source that can be relied on to give people an idea of how many
crimes are committed everyday on average; it fails in informing us on the reasons or in what situation the criminals were in to have to be in a position
to break the law. Many criminals are thought to be bad people who do things just because they are bad, but many times not being a criminal for many

I believe that people who have necessities in life have no choice than to do anything to no longer have those necessities. Many people grow up not
having anything going towards their way say they end up getting involved in gangs, and doing bad things breaking the law everyday. But what
happens when you are the head of the family and you're not putting food on the table and the only way out of that is by selling drugs? Everyone
generally assumes that people in jail, or prison had something to do with drugs. I'm not saying that everyone is in a correctional facility because of
drugs, but a big percentage of the people in jail in ghetto places are because of drugs, and why is that? Because drugs are the easiest way of getting out
of being poor, or at least that what people who sell them think. When a teenager is arrested because of possession of drugs in a ghetto town, it's not
very alarming because we all expect that to happen, but what happens when a middle age white man who has never had any problems with the law
is arrested for the same reason? That's when we start asking questions and learn the truth of why people act in such ways. The person known as the
head of the family is usually always thought to be the leader of the family. The leader of the family has responsibilities, and one of them is to provide
for the family, and to protect them. Many family leaders have always been very

struggle through some of the most gruesome punishments and on occasion, it was for no reason at all. In the Narrative of the Life of Frederick
Douglass, Douglass displays some occasions where he, even as a young boy, was subjected to some of these terrible events. Douglass plays on the
pathos of his readers right from the beginning by tugging at our emotions with the story of his Aunt Hester. Does Douglass portray his violence to be
over the top? Some might say yes, but even if it's over the top, it is because it's accurate. Some punishments that the slaves endured were whipping,
hanging, beating, burning, branding, shackling and imprisonment (Boundless). Many of the plantations that housed slaves used these forms of
brutality. Slaves could earn a one–way ticket to a punishment by trying to run away, a form of disobedience or sometimes just because their master
felt like it. One of the most violent forms of these brutal acts was the whipping. When a slave is whipped, they are literally stripped of their clothes
and dignity and flogged with a rope, piece of leather or even cow skin with prongs. Depending on the slave master, the number of lashes changes.
However, some masters just decide to whip until they grow tired or fatigued. In Douglass's book, he talks about these horrific ordeals in great detail
because he witnessed some of

Blueberry Whipped Cream Pie Essay
Blueberry Whipped Cream Pie
This recipe allows the average cook to create a delicious homemade blueberry whipped cream pie. Instead of having to buy pies and other desserts
from the store, now anyone can make them inexpensively at home. Making a blueberry pie may take some time, but the end result is well worth the
effort and the wait. The main steps in making a blueberry pie are not complicated, but one should not forget that there are pre–cooking and
post–cooking steps that are just as important as the main cooking steps.
Certain things must be done before the cook actually begins to make the pie. First, he must gather all the ingredients that will be needed. The cook will
need flour, salt, Crisco ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, in the action stage, the cook is ready to put together and bake a beautiful masterpiece in just three steps. The first major step in creating a pie
should be making the crust. To prepare the crust, the cook should mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. Now, he should add the Crisco shortening
and begin to mix. The cook should sprinkle in the water, all the while continuing to mix and knead the dough. He should now toss the dough lightly
until it forms a firm ball. After dividing the dough into two equal parts, the cook should press each part in his hands so that the dough forms
five–to–six–inch round "pancakes." The cook can now roll the "pancakes" with the pin, making sure the new size is about one inch bigger than an
upside down pie plate. After loosening and removing one "pancake" from the rolling surface, the cook should carefully press the dough into the pie
plate. Lastly, the cook should trim the edges of the dough even with the pie plate. The cook can now move on to the second step, which is to finish
putting the pie together. First, the cook should add the blueberry filling to the pie shell. Now he can lift the other "pancake" and place it on top of the
filled pie. After trimming one–half of an inch beyond the edge of the pie plate, the cook should fold the top edge under the bottom crust. Now he can
flute (make grooves with his fingers) the edge of the pie. The last thing the cook should do before proceeding to the next

Narrative Of The Life Of Fredrick Douglass, An American Slave
This collage we have created by how slaves were treated in the book "Narrative of the life of Fredrick Douglass, an American Slave." We had
determined and imagined how slaves were treated from the explanation of the book. Slaves were abused different ways that no other humans could
resist. They were physically abused, sexually abused, emotional abused, starved, and got a little cloth even in the winter. They had to sleep on the
floor and treated like they weren't humans. They were whipped many times by their masters and couldn't fight back. They got whipped for doing
things too good or too bad. They got whipped for disobeying their masters, even if they said to take off their clothes. It was hard for them, just imagine

How Does Hester Prynne Use Punishment In The Scarlet Letter
Punishment in the Eyes of the Puritans
During the time of Nathaniel Hawthorne and the puritans, just about everything labeled as a crime in the Bible was punished. Many of these sins are in
The Scarlet Letter, although not all of them are punished. In fact, Hester Prynne's sin is the main focus throughout the entire book, leaving most of
them alone. Hawthorne portrays Hester's punishment as a lot less harsh than the reality for many Puritan women who were accused of this crime.
Adultery was a crime that did not go without punishment. Sins involving sexuality and morality were taken very seriously by the puritans. "It was
because so much value was placed on the institution of marriage and the family" (Roth 71). In many instances, if a woman was accused of adultery,
the woman was punished by being whipped. It was also common for the woman to be fined. In Plymouth, specifically, the women were whipped and
had to wear the letters "AD" on their clothing. Adultery was considered to be a capital crime, which in some situations was punished by death.
In the case of adultery, the punishment for men was not as severe. The blame was put on the women, they were said to have seduced the man. If a
married man had sex with a single woman, he was only charged with fornication. Even in cases where the man was punished, it was no comparison to

Any society that abuses their children deserve to crumble. Sparta was a city– state in ancient Greece that was focused on military training. They didn't

Tips For Making A Plastic Bowl
meringue topping Meringue making sends many otherwise good bakers into a tailspin when their lus– trous topping weeps (beads of liquid sugar rise
to the surface) and deflates into a shriveled version of its initial glory. Here is a meringue that holds its shape and stays fluffy without weeping. The
step of warming the egg whites and dissolving the sugar–which takes just a few seconds–before beating the meringue is its key to success. I like a
generous topping, so this amount will cover any 9–inch pie in a thick, billowy layer. You will need an electric mixer to make it. Makes meringue
topping for one 9–inch pie в…” cup egg whites (about 5 eggs)
ВЅ cup sugar
ВЅ teaspoon cream of tartar
Вј teaspoon salt
ВЅ teaspoon vanilla extract Combine the egg whites and sugar in a large stainless steel or glass bowl. (I don't recommending using a plastic bowl; it
can hold a greasy film that will keep the whites from beating to full volume.) Set the bottom of the bowl over a pan of sim– mering–not boiling–water.
Stir gently for a minute or two, using a spoon or your finger, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture feels warm. Remove the bowl from the
water and add the cream of tartar and salt. Beat at high speed until the whites stand in stiff peaks that droop just slightly when the beater is lifted. De–
pending on the power and speed of your mixer, this will take 1ВЅ to 3 minutes, more or less, but appearance is a better indicator than time. Beat in the

The Fulani Whip Match
Initiation Rituals are nothing new to different parts of the world or in different tribes. Different places have different initiation rituals, some far
outside the norm and others mild. But the main goal is typical to go from one old status to a liminal status, and then into a new status, like for
example entering Manhood. For western society, physical changes to the body through the body like the beginning of menstruation or the addition of
more body hair would be some of the many physical changes that take place and signal the start of the transition to adulthood in this culture. It is not
like that for everyone else, in many tribes such as the Fulani people, the people involved are put through a series or just one thing that will officially...

The Fulani Whip Match is a painful initiation for the boys, as you can already tell from the name what this initiation consists of. Whips, the boys
must find long tree branches and their father helps them pick the branch that would have the most painful blow. The father then chooses the stick
and sharpens it in order to be able to make the biggest impact with each lash that they give to their opponent and break the skin as well. Clans
gather around from 50 miles around to watch who is the bravest of the two. When the boys are ready and their whips are prepared for battle, a
crowd gathers around and they are in charge of judging the match and determining who wins. Each whipper takes a turn, first one opponent gets
whipped three times and then the other gets whipped three times. This continues throughout the match to see what boy will come out victorious and
could handle such amount of pain and was brave enough alternatively, the one which loses does not become a man. Whoever flinches the least
amount of times and whips the hardest is considered the man. Afterward those who win are congratulated by family and friends and people from the
neighboring clans, they are showered with talc powder and coins are pressed upon their foreheads and officially an adult member of the Fulani tribe .

A Report On The World 's Prisoner Suit
Barely moments later, the speedster flashed in his prisoner suit in the lab, or at least what used to be S.T.A.R. Labs. Like the rest of the city, it was
barely a shell of what it used to be. While the building was thankfully still standing, it hadn 't been used as a base of operation for a very, very long
time. This much was clear. There was dust everywhere on the ground and every equipment or window he could found were broken, pieces laying on
the ground all around. ' 'No, no....what happened here? ' '

Dusting off his finding, Barry found himself holding an old and damaged newspaper, yellowed by time a long time ago, making it hard to decrypt

It was dated from March 2019, over 2 years after the attack. What was the date now? How long has he slept? Everything was clear; he failed them
all, each and every person he cared about, he left them all to die when he gave himself up for nothing. Step sounds coming from the hallway made him
sharply turn around and rise on his feet in an instant. Who could it be in this ghost town?
When the figure, a woman dressed in black with an eye patch on her left eye, entered the cortex and came into view, Barry gasped at the sight; he
knew who it was despite the noticeable differences. ' 'Caitlin. ' ' He whispered in shock.
His old friend looked definitely rougher as her now short hair were barely touching her shoulders and her face, the only unhidden part of her face,
was covered in scars and she was holding an odd looking assault weapon directed at the speedster. As she intensively stared at the person standing, she
presented no sign of softening, or even no sign of recognition. ' 'What are you doing here? ' ' She harshly inquired. ' 'Cait, it's me. ' ' Said Barry, softly,
getting closer. ' 'You're supposed to be dead. ' '

A world once filled with Asian friends and neighbors crashes harshly as Jin is left stranded in a white dominated school. Stereotypes and teasing are
quickly placed on him from his racial background. Still new to the area, Jin presumes, "The only other Asian in my class was Suzy Nakamura. When
the class finally figured out that we weren't related, rumors began to circulate that Suzy and I were arranged to be married on her thirteenth birthday.
We avoided each other as much as possible" (Yang 31). Embarrassment clouds Jin as he realizes that he's not like the other kids in his class. With
distinct features and his native tongue, Jin felt like a reject surrounded by his Caucasian classmates. He was entirely alone amongst his peers, and he
didn't like that one single bit. In this way, it's clear how both Junior and Jin felt like outcasts in these two oceans of white students and teachers. ***
Acknowledged in both novels, Junior and Jin's spontaneous actions leave them both friendless and bruised. In Junior's case, this meant ditching the
reservation's schooling system and finding one that surpasses the education he was taught. In the spur of the moment, Junior decides to do just that and
attend an all–white school in the neighboring town. Getting the courage to tell his best friend, Junior braces himself for Rowdy's reaction. Denial
embedded his friend's senses; remoteness then trickled its way through his head

Milk Fat Lab Report
How do different types of cream affect the mass of milk fat produced?
Purpose:
The purpose of this experiment was to test which form of cream would produce the most amount of fat.
Background Information:Although cream derives from milk, it is a more concentrated and has an overall thicker consistency than regular cow's milk.
Cream is a separated substance of milk. After milk is collected from a cow, it is then pasteurized, a process that kills bacteria. After pasteurization,
during the plasma phase, the fat naturally rises to the top of milk. A thick, white substance, cream, is formed on the surface. Cream contains "nutrients
like calcium, riboflavin, vitamin A, and phosphorous" (Amidor, 2013). "There are so many fat globules that they also carry some of the milk protein to
the top, so cream also contains a small amount of protein in addition to the milk fat component; this protein component contributes to the whipping
characteristics of cream" (Hurley, 2009). Changes in fatty acid composition produces a heavy substance of milk, like cream and butter. "Milk fat is a
complex mixture of lipids, but the most prevalent one is triglyceride, made by combining three fatty acids" (Lower, 2014). Fatty acids, also known as,
Carboxylic acid is an acid that contains carbon and is attached to an oxygen atom, and an oxygen–hydrogen atom. ... Show more content on

But the fluidity of interior life turns poisonous precisely because it is suppressed. All of it comes back to the double–edged sword of patriarchy and
capitalist industrial farming, embodied by Larry. Ginny and Rose are "trying to figure out how to understand him better. I [that is, Ginny] feel like
there's treacherous undercurrents all the time. I think I'm standing on solid ground, but then I discover that there's something moving underneath it,
shifting from place to place. There's always some mystery. He doesn't say what he means."(104). From Larry, it spreads to all the other characters, like

Pete's death is a tragic enactment of this metaphor. He was always silently angry, trying to find some way to rebel against Larry, but "losing himself

In this chapter examples by which architectural works are informed by food are examined through four case studies. They include the Basque Culinary
Centre, Elevated Market and Culinary School in Paris, The Whipped Stream International Gastronomic, and Coquinarium Gastronomic Center. They
were chosen based on their ability to advise critical aspects of design such as form, structure, organization and building facade. The precedents also
demonstrate a range of methods by which food influence architecture, whether displaying a literal or a more poetic application of the theme.
The Basque Culinary Center is located in Donostia–San SebastiГЎn, Gipuzkoa, Spain and sits next to the Miramon Technologic Business Park.

Particularly in three groups, the first relates to the Academic area, the second aspect deals with the Practice area and the last focuses on the Research
area. By combining these three groups in a vertical manner, each space within the design relates to the Gastronomic Practice area. Spaces such as the
changing–rooms, ateliers, precooking kitchen, access to raw materials and other kitchens, assist in the development of a strong interconnection between
the spaces, people and the food being consumed in a direct way.
At a distance the building shows the different levels that gives the composition a unique character. Comparing its scale to the buildings of the
Technologic Business Park, at short distance the roofs become areas used for cultivation of edible and aromatic plants, which almost neutralize the
effect of the building towards the closest semi–detached housings.
From a conceptual perspective, formulating the design composition is based on the scale work between the "iconographical image" (piled up dishes)
and the building itself. The artist Robert Therrien (Chicago 1947) handles daily kitchen objects as dish services, pots and uplifts them into artistic
objects, by means of accumulations, along with scale multiplication. The plane character of these objects takes contrast with their iconographical
presence when they assume their new dimension.
The same strategy has been taken to the exterior volume definition of the building, where the TherrienВґs

This book is hard to read as a result of descriptions of torturous slave owners. Frederick Douglass shows that Christian slave owners were just as cruel
as non–Christianslave owners though they use the bible to defend their actions. Douglass describes that some of his slave owners claimed to be
Christians. Captain Thomas Auld was one of these men. Auld was a cruel man he once tied up a young slave girl named Henny and whipped her until
she bled out and died. He used this passage of scripture to justify his actions, "He that knoweth his master's will, and doeth it not, shall be beaten with

Anthony's extreme barbarity. Austin Gore was a non–Christian overseer of Douglass and his fellow slaves. Gore was a harsh man. One day as he

Technology Is A Good And Negative Effects Of Technology
Technologies are purely objects and we are the ones who control them; the ones who can give them either a good or bad purpose. At this point in time
however, the amount of negative uses for most technologies are increasing. People have become very trustworthy of technology and have kept
sensitive information and even hidden some things from others, but some people have found ways to retrieve this information and use it. Since people
use technology so much, many have quickly become addicted to it and it can be a distraction that's hard to get away from. Although technology has uses
related to helping others and finding information, anything from a laptop to a phone can be used to bully others and finding out who's behind the
bullying isn't always easy.
There are many ways to store information, a majority of them being on technologies. Although, this is very useful, it's not always safe, especially
on the internet. Nowadays, there are a lot more people "hacking" and spreading "viruses" which can steal information and destroy devices. Despite
this, a lot of trust is put into these devices because people don't always know that their information has been compromised or taken. Even when a
site with many members has been affected, it's not always spread to those members and causes problems. Not only is it hard to figure out if you've
been hacked or if there is a virus in your device, but it is hard to find the person behind everything. Even if you do find the person, they often cover
their tracks and cannot be found guilty. There are a few cases, like one that's quite recent at the time this was written involving a man helping to hack
Yahoo, where people are caught. However, he was caught only because of how open all of his social media accounts were. By following links that
were connected to his name, he was eventually caught. Another thing that hastened and created a larger importance for this, was the large scale of the
effects. This is a rare occurrence, though and took a lot of time. Anonymity is also a huge problem when it comes to bullying.
The Internet can be used to connect people, but not always in a beneficial way. Just as there is bullying in our everyday lives, there is bullying online.
Many people

Reddi Wip Argument Essay

  • 1. Reddi Wip Argument Essay Whether it be after a large meal and everyone has cleared their plates and the dessert utensils are coming out, one product seems to always be in conjunction with the desserts themselves, whipped cream. Whipped cream goes splendidly well with any type of dessert. But there is one brand of whipped cream that is better than the rest, favored by most Americans and most well know. That brand is Reddi–Wip. Reddi–Wip was invented in 1948 and still has a large impact on the dessert world today. I think the product of Reddi–Whip is an interesting artifact that fits well with the theme of Science and Technology because it is not a product directly found in nature, when first created people needed to experiment with it to find out the best way to serve... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The process of making basic whip cream can be done at home quite easily. All one needs to is place heavy whipping cream into a bowl and whatever flavoring desired into a bowl and start whisking. After a couple of minutes the contents of the bowl will be look light and airy. Now one would think that was how the cans of Reddi–Wip are prepared, but with the advances of technology that is not the case. Cans are filled with the machine stirred ingredients. Although the main ingredient is still cream in this process the product would not be as popular if all it had was cream. The second main ingredient is sugar, although each flavor of Reddi–Wip has less than two–percent of the recommended grams of sugar per serving, with thirty–seven servings in one six and a half ounce can. After all the miscellaneous ingredients are added there comes a very specific ingredient, this allows the contents of the can to be spun around to release the favored topping. Nitrous oxide is a chemical that is primarily used for doctor performed surgical purposes, to put the patients asleep while they are being operated on. But once placed in a can with cream and sugar it helps whirl the ingredients together to create the whipped goodness that we place onto our desserts. Through technological breakthroughs Reddi–Wip has been able safely add minimal amounts of this chemical to their product to enhance it to create the desired whipped and light form they intended ... • 2. The Importance Of Mcmahan's Decision To Go To The Military Now it is easy for an individual to tell someone to not do something without knowing the full extent of that person's limitations. For example, I can tell my best friend to purchase a ticket to go to my wedding that is in the Dominican, and if he doesn't come to my wedding, it is an indication that he does not value our friendship. On the surface, it sounds like a fair assessment. Now, what if I tell you now that my friend is living in his car and has about 2 dollars in his bank account. Certainly, you would not expect me to be upset if he doesn't come down to my wedding now, as he is severely limited in his monetary capabilities to physically be at my wedding. This same principle should apply to McMahan in regards to soldiers in economic duress, but as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That being said, McMahan has no right to essentially scold an individual for not being able to fix a financial situation without knowing the circumstances to which that individual was put in that predicament. Now I acknowledge that McMahan could counter this argument by saying that due to the high rate of mortality, the decision to go to war must not be taken lightly. As such, anyone with financial strains on the verge of entering a war that could be unjust should simply do something else to find money and sustain their survival. This is a fair assessment, as individuals should look to all possible courses of action when deliberating a major decision like entering a war. That being said, I challenge, McMahan to say the same if he is in a position of severe economic duress, to the point of starvation and still want to take the time to find a way past this other than war if the choice was provided to him. There would be no way of this happening because he will physically not be in a position to choose because his body is withering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Positive Keys To Anne Frank Positive Keys Anne Frank was a really positive person even in some of the darkest times. "Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy,"– Anne Frank. A vast majority of people approach conflicts and situations negatively. Still, one of the best ways to approach any situation in with a positive attitude, at least, in my opinion. Being positive can create a better outlook in life and a wonderful living for any individual. All you need to do is change the way you see the world. Changing the way you see the world can change many things for a single person, who can spread it to others through sheer positive emotions. Positivity is contagious. When Anne was in the middle of a war, trapped in hiding, and an extremely low chance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rosa once said, "I have learned over the years that when one's mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear." She is saying that if you keep your mind in a positive frame for so long, you can be better to yourself and others. You can be a better person to yourself and keep things in line. It can also give you a sense of control over some situations, make you feel you can make change. Being able to find yourself in control can be really calming to some people. It creates a sense of self aware, reality, calmness. Many different forms of the words in positive ways can be relaxing. On the other hand, people chose to respond with negativity. Using their emotions to help let out a possible build up of everything they have been holding back. Things like frustration, stress, sadness, and anger cannot be held up for so long. If you keep them all to yourself, you can cause something even worse. From some experience in handling people during these times, the negative emotions that are held up can cause one to believe the self destruct button is the only way out. If they cannot express themselves by emotional means, they cannot set themselves apart from the grief that has overcome ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Who Is The 'Le Supplice De Fouet'? Since, this painting was oil painted in 1849, this is a good source. First of all, it shows the scene which the African slave is tied to the ground and being whipped. This painting shows a slave (a figure lying down on the ground) and the overseer giving the punishment to the slave (figure standing up). This slave was a fugitive and tried to leave the plantation by himself. It shows a good example about the punishments applied to the slaves. This painting wasn't drawn in the place where the slave got whipped but it was told by the white people who has witnessed that scene. Originally, this painting was advertised by the "Le Supplice de Fouet" (the whipping man) and scheduled to be exhibited/shown to the leaders involved in the slave trade ... • 5. Situational Ethics InSalvation, By Langston Hughes In Langston Hughes essay "Salvation" he reveals how as a child he was plagued with the feeling of guilt and remorse when he had lied. Hughes was taught that lying was a sin but at the time he felt as though he was doing the right thing. In society people are taught to always be honest but there is a certain extent people go to because of the way they are supposed to conduct themselves in public. Although since children are more openly spoken and majority don't have the best manners overtime they are taught to what extent of honesty is acceptable. Situational ethics is not taught but in a way it's like common sense because being completely honest at times can come out as being rude depending on the situation. Hughes uses morals and children to reveal how easy it is for young to be pulled towards situational ethics. In a social setting there are morals society abides by for example being honest. But people know that with honesty there is a certain point you can go before it starts becoming disrespectful. That is where situational ethics comes into play because sometimes the things people say should be filtered at some degree. Situational ethics can also be considered a way of lying but at times it feels like lying is your only way out of a situation. In reality people lie every day, and there are times in which it is not seen as a bad thing because there are situations in which people don't want to be one hundred percent honest with one another as it might come out as an insult. Although there are times in which lying is not necessary and at that point it could be viewed as something bad but there are times where somethings should be kept to yourselves. Even though it seems like a bad thing people have been taught that the way people treat each other and the way people view each other is more important than just a simple lie As a child you are taught right from wrong but you are not specifically taught what situational ethics are because it is something that is self–taught. Since children are more outspoken and truthfully honest some things they do say can be seen as rude but they are saying the things adults cannot say. Children are the versions of people you would have been if it weren't for society and it's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Paul's Case Essay Paul's Case Paul was a self–oriented boy, concerned with money, wealth, and glamour, raised in a Calvinist household that supported these ideals. Through my research I have decided that Paul's eventual fate was not any one person's fault. Paul was just as much to blame as his father and teachers for Paul's suicide. Paul was never content with his house on Cordelia Street and was always dreaming about "movin' on up" while he worked at Carnegie Hall and watched the actors and actresses move about in their stately attire and live in the most luxurious of hotel suites. Because of this dream to get out of the area in which he lived, Paul hardly ever got along with his teachers and his father. The thought of taking full advantage of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paul's only chance, it seemed was to steal the money he needed and live off of it for as long as he could. Paul stole more than $1000, enough to live for a month in New York City, at the time of the story, and only if spent cautiously. But, no... Paul would have none of that. It would have been a waste to have more money than he had ever seen in his life, and yet live just as he had throughout his life. He wanted to live in style, the way the rich folks did. So, Paul spent the money within a week on all the best clothes, the best food, the best hotel room, the best flowers, and the best life. The money disappeared within a week and Paul was forced to leave it all behind and return to the dreariness of middle class existence. Paul's damaged psyche could not bear to return the living–dead life that he hoped he had left behind forever, so he removed the living part with the help of a very large, very loud locomotive. Paul's father had abused him emotionally, and probably physically, throughout Paul's life. He did so much to Paul's flagging self–image that he had to boast to others to make himself feel big, when he felt tiny inside. When he finally achieved that "bigness" that he always wanted, the glamour of "the good life," his father found him out and took that away from him, or rather, made Paul give it up. This made Paul feel even smaller and made him feel that he would be better off dead. So Paul decided to make his life "better off" and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Werner By Jo Ann Beard Analysis When disaster strikes, two responses exist: lose hope, or find an inner strength to rise above. "Werner" is an essay where the author, Jo Ann Beard, presents the idea of rediscovering yourself, rebuilding a life after loss, and rising above adversity. Werner, Beard's main character, finds that the only way to truly move on after a tragedy is to take a leap into what is unfamiliar. After a fire burns down everything Werner has, he is forced to grow and become a new man, leaving his old life behind. Throughout the essay, Beard illustrates a man who faces challenges to his sense ofself, and who sequentially must change and become someone new to find who he is again. Beard's use of the third person, candid diction, and conflict resolution compose an elaborate work that focuses on the concept of becoming a new and better person after a traumatic event. Though Beard is retelling Werner's story, she does not do so through the first person. It is told through the eyes of a narrator, who knows more about the situation than Werner himself, at the time. For example, the narrator knows the cause of the fire and the fact that Werner will never be the same, "old Werner" (Werner 21). This extra knowledge engages the reader more with the story. On the other hand, even though the narrator knows more contextual details, they still provide insight into what Werner isfeeling, as he is coping with the reality of being physically pushed "forward into something new and unfamiliar" (Werner 13). ... • 14. Narrative Essay On The Eiffel Tower I woke up thinking about the contest again, but I pushed it aside and got ready to go touring again and today we were going to the Eiffel Tower. We headed out at 10:00am and drove there in a cab, we arrived and the view from our room was no match to the real–deal, it was outstanding and a lot bigger than I imaged too. We got in line for tickets and it didn't take to long, so we found our tour guide, so that she could take us up in it, I was nervous and excited at the same time because I don't like heights, but I do love scenery. We went up in an elevator to the "first floor" or the first platform and let me tell you,it was as beautiful as a thousand roses, literally, there was thousands of roses everywhere, it was magnificent. After a while we got back on the elevator to go to the top and on the way up the tour guide told us that it is about 108 floor tall, twice the size of the one is Vegas. The elevator stopped and we stepped out. The breeze was perfect and so was the weather, we walked out to a telescope and plopped in a quarter. All I could say was "wow," my mom and dad were almost speechless too. Once we got up there I realized i wasn't afraid anymore, hopefully the contest was going to be the same way, I took it all in, along with a thousand photos my mom took of us and everything else. We kept looking at everything, it was like nothing I've ever experienced before, it was perfect and so delicate, words were not enough to explain it. The city was busy and all the cars and people looked like ants, the park around us was perfect, the grass, the trees everything seemed so perfect around us, at least until it started to pour rain. We ran into the elevator and luckily there was enough room for all of us because there were people who didn't get in and i was sure they were drenched by now. After some time we got to the bottom and ran to our cab as fast as cheetahs, but it didn't matter, we were drenched as well. We got in our cab and drove to our hotel to change and dry off. We wandered the hotel after we changed, to look at all the paintings and statues. Many women during this era struggled, especially single women who had to fend for themselves and find a decent job just to stay afloat. Lilly's character seems to ignore this standard and takes after Cragg's advice. We first see Lilly take action upon Craggs "words of wisdom", while she is on a train to New York. The guard tries to kick her off but she confidently uses her sexuality to lure the man off into the distance. We know that her manipulation succeeds because the next scene is of her in New York City. The Longest Memory Summary Tanner Stark History 100 Mary Borg 30 November 2017 "The Longest Memory" Book Understanding When people think of slavery today they think of all blacks being treated unfairly and beaten all the time. Slavery is a serious and very rough topic due to the horror stories of beatings and how poorly some of the slaves were treated. That was not the case for all slaves, in fact some slaves had it easier than others depending on the overseers and the behavior of the slaves. Some were treated well and had love interests with their owners and some would look more to their religion of Christianity for how they should treat their slaves, which was usually less harsh. There are many factors that come into play when talking about the life of a slave in the south before the Civil War. In this paper I will talk a lot about different ways and reasons why slaves were treated the way they were, how the newspaper talks about the slave life and what the true meaning of "The Longest Memory" is. Slave owners viewed slaves in several different ways, which can be put into three categories. First is the discipline category. The discipline category consists of a heavy hand which is used for slaves who disobey. Discipline with a heavy hand is very brutal. They use discipline to show the slaves that they need to behave because they will whip you as much as they need to in order to keep the slaves in line and stop trying to run away. Everyone generally assumes that people in jail, or prison had something to do with drugs. I'm not saying that everyone is in a correctional facility because of drugs, but a big percentage of the people in jail in ghetto places are because of drugs, and why is that? Because drugs are the easiest way of getting out of being poor, or at least that what people who sell them think. When a teenager is arrested because of possession of drugs in a ghetto town, it's not very alarming because we all expect that to happen, but what happens when a middle age white man who has never had any problems with the law is arrested for the same reason? • 22. The Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass Whipped, beaten and bloodied until there was no more energy left to give. African–American slaves in the early American world had to endure and struggle through some of the most gruesome punishments and on occasion, it was for no reason at all. In the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Douglass displays some occasions where he, even as a young boy, was subjected to some of these terrible events. Douglass plays on the pathos of his readers right from the beginning by tugging at our emotions with the story of his Aunt Hester. Does Douglass portray his violence to be over the top? Some might say yes, but even if it's over the top, it is because it's accurate. Some punishments that the slaves endured were whipping, hanging, beating, burning, branding, shackling and imprisonment (Boundless). Many of the plantations that housed slaves used these forms of brutality. Slaves could earn a one–way ticket to a punishment by trying to run away, a form of disobedience or sometimes just because their master felt like it. One of the most violent forms of these brutal acts was the whipping. When a slave is whipped, they are literally stripped of their clothes and dignity and flogged with a rope, piece of leather or even cow skin with prongs. Depending on the slave master, the number of lashes changes. However, some masters just decide to whip until they grow tired or fatigued. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now, in the action stage, the cook is ready to put together and bake a beautiful masterpiece in just three steps. The first major step in creating a pie should be making the crust. To prepare the crust, the cook should mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. Now, he should add the Crisco shortening and begin to mix. The cook should sprinkle in the water, all the while continuing to mix and knead the dough. He should now toss the dough lightly until it forms a firm ball. After dividing the dough into two equal parts, the cook should press each part in his hands so that the dough forms five–to–six–inch round "pancakes." The cook can now roll the "pancakes" with the pin, making sure the new size is about one inch bigger than an upside down pie plate. After loosening and removing one "pancake" from the rolling surface, the cook should carefully press the dough into the pie plate. Lastly, the cook should trim the edges of the dough even with the pie plate. The cook can now move on to the second step, which is to finish putting the pie together. First, the cook should add the blueberry filling to the pie shell. Now he can lift the other "pancake" and place it on top of the filled pie. After trimming one–half of an inch beyond the edge of the pie plate, the cook should fold the top edge under the bottom crust. Now he can flute (make grooves with his fingers) the edge of the pie. How Does Hester Prynne Use Punishment In The Scarlet Letter Punishment in the Eyes of the Puritans During the time of Nathaniel Hawthorne and the puritans, just about everything labeled as a crime in the Bible was punished. Many of these sins are in The Scarlet Letter, although not all of them are punished. In fact, Hester Prynne's sin is the main focus throughout the entire book, leaving most of them alone. Hawthorne portrays Hester's punishment as a lot less harsh than the reality for many Puritan women who were accused of this crime. Adultery was a crime that did not go without punishment. Sins involving sexuality and morality were taken very seriously by the puritans. "It was because so much value was placed on the institution of marriage and the family" (Roth 71). In many instances, if a woman was accused of adultery, the woman was punished by being whipped. It was also common for the woman to be fined. In Plymouth, specifically, the women were whipped and had to wear the letters "AD" on their clothing. Adultery was considered to be a capital crime, which in some situations was punished by death. In the case of adultery, the punishment for men was not as severe. The blame was put on the women, they were said to have seduced the man. The step of warming the egg whites and dissolving the sugar–which takes just a few seconds–before beating the meringue is its key to success. For western society, physical changes to the body through the body like the beginning of menstruation or the addition of more body hair would be some of the many physical changes that take place and signal the start of the transition to adulthood in this culture. It is not like that for everyone else, in many tribes such as the Fulani people, the people involved are put through a series or just one thing that will officially... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Fulani Whip Match is a painful initiation for the boys, as you can already tell from the name what this initiation consists of. Whips, the boys must find long tree branches and their father helps them pick the branch that would have the most painful blow. The father then chooses the stick and sharpens it in order to be able to make the biggest impact with each lash that they give to their opponent and break the skin as well. Clans gather around from 50 miles around to watch who is the bravest of the two. When the boys are ready and their whips are prepared for battle, a crowd gathers around and they are in charge of judging the match and determining who wins. Each whipper takes a turn, first one opponent gets whipped three times and then the other gets whipped three times. This continues throughout the match to see what boy will come out victorious and could handle such amount of pain and was brave enough alternatively, the one which loses does not become a man. Whoever flinches the least amount of times and whips the hardest is considered the man. Afterward those who win are congratulated by family and friends and people from the neighboring clans, they are showered with talc powder and coins are pressed upon their foreheads and officially an adult member of the Fulani tribe . Like the rest of the city, it was barely a shell of what it used to be. While the building was thankfully still standing, it hadn 't been used as a base of operation for a very, very long time. This much was clear. There was dust everywhere on the ground and every equipment or window he could found were broken, pieces laying on the ground all around. ' 'No, no....what happened here? What was the date now? How long has he slept? Everything was clear; he failed them all, each and every person he cared about, he left them all to die when he gave himself up for nothing. Step sounds coming from the hallway made him sharply turn around and rise on his feet in an instant. Who could it be in this ghost town? When the figure, a woman dressed in black with an eye patch on her left eye, entered the cortex and came into view, Barry gasped at the sight; he knew who it was despite the noticeable differences. ' 'Caitlin. ' ' He whispered in shock. His old friend looked definitely rougher as her now short hair were barely touching her shoulders and her face, the only unhidden part of her face, was covered in scars and she was holding an odd looking assault weapon directed at the speedster. As she intensively stared at the person standing, she presented no sign of softening, or even no sign of recognition. ' 'What are you doing here? ' ' She harshly inquired. ' 'Cait, it's me. INTRODUCTION – ~ THESIS – When evaluating Arnold "Junior" Spirit from Sherman Alexie's The Absolutely True Diary of a Part –Time Indian and Jin Wang from Gene Luen Yang's American Born Chinese, similarities radiate in both characters as their disparity in race deem the two of them as outcasts in the entirety of society. In addition to their lack of social interactions, their uniformity in their impulsive decisions cost them each a dear friend. Although Junior and Jin are quite similar, they share differences in the way Junior tries bettering himself by fitting into both his Indian and Reardan culture whereas Jin changes himself in every possible way to become Americanized. *** The correspondence between Junior and Jin is detected in both... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A world once filled with Asian friends and neighbors crashes harshly as Jin is left stranded in a white dominated school. Stereotypes and teasing are quickly placed on him from his racial background. Still new to the area, Jin presumes, "The only other Asian in my class was Suzy Nakamura. When the class finally figured out that we weren't related, rumors began to circulate that Suzy and I were arranged to be married on her thirteenth birthday. We avoided each other as much as possible" (Yang 31). Embarrassment clouds Jin as he realizes that he's not like the other kids in his class. With distinct features and his native tongue, Jin felt like a reject surrounded by his Caucasian classmates. He was entirely alone amongst his peers, and he didn't like that one single bit. In this way, it's clear how both Junior and Jin felt like outcasts in these two oceans of white students and teachers. *** Acknowledged in both novels, Junior and Jin's spontaneous actions leave them both friendless and bruised. In Junior's case, this meant ditching the reservation's schooling system and finding one that surpasses the education he was taught. In the spur of the moment, Junior decides to do just that and attend an all–white school in the neighboring town. Getting the courage to tell his best friend, Junior braces himself for Rowdy's reaction. Denial embedded his friend's senses; remoteness then trickled its way through his head ... • 38. Milk Fat Lab Report How do different types of cream affect the mass of milk fat produced? Purpose: The purpose of this experiment was to test which form of cream would produce the most amount of fat. Background Information:Although cream derives from milk, it is a more concentrated and has an overall thicker consistency than regular cow's milk. Cream is a separated substance of milk. After milk is collected from a cow, it is then pasteurized, a process that kills bacteria. After pasteurization, during the plasma phase, the fat naturally rises to the top of milk. A thick, white substance, cream, is formed on the surface. Cream contains "nutrients like calcium, riboflavin, vitamin A, and phosphorous" (Amidor, 2013). "There are so many fat globules that they also carry some of the milk protein to the top, so cream also contains a small amount of protein in addition to the milk fat component; this protein component contributes to the whipping characteristics of cream" (Hurley, 2009). Changes in fatty acid composition produces a heavy substance of milk, like cream and butter. "Milk fat is a complex mixture of lipids, but the most prevalent one is triglyceride, made by combining three fatty acids" (Lower, 2014). I think I'm standing on solid ground, but then I discover that there's something moving underneath it, shifting from place to place. There's always some mystery. He doesn't say what he means."(104). From Larry, it spreads to all the other characters, like Ginny and Ty: "We had spent our life together practicing courtesy, putting the best face on things, harboring secrets."(260) In the end, nobody can be trusted, the poison influences everbody. Pete's death is a tragic enactment of this metaphor. He was always silently angry, trying to find some way to rebel against Larry, but "losing himself more and more bitterly in contemplating the target." They include the Basque Culinary Centre, Elevated Market and Culinary School in Paris, The Whipped Stream International Gastronomic, and Coquinarium Gastronomic Center. They were chosen based on their ability to advise critical aspects of design such as form, structure, organization and building facade. The precedents also demonstrate a range of methods by which food influence architecture, whether displaying a literal or a more poetic application of the theme. Particularly in three groups, the first relates to the Academic area, the second aspect deals with the Practice area and the last focuses on the Research area. By combining these three groups in a vertical manner, each space within the design relates to the Gastronomic Practice area. Spaces such as the changing–rooms, ateliers, precooking kitchen, access to raw materials and other kitchens, assist in the development of a strong interconnection between the spaces, people and the food being consumed in a direct way. At a distance the building shows the different levels that gives the composition a unique character. Comparing its scale to the buildings of the Technologic Business Park, at short distance the roofs become areas used for cultivation of edible and aromatic plants, which almost neutralize the effect of the building towards the closest semi–detached housings. From a conceptual perspective, formulating the design composition is based on the scale work between the "iconographical image" (piled up dishes) and the building itself. The artist Robert Therrien (Chicago 1947) handles daily kitchen objects as dish services, pots and uplifts them into artistic objects, by means of accumulations, along with scale multiplication. The plane character of these objects takes contrast with their iconographical presence when they assume their new dimension. The same strategy has been taken to the exterior volume definition of the building, where the TherrienВґs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Frederick Douglass Research Papers In The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass by Frederick Douglassthere are many accounts of slaves being cruelly beaten by their slave owners. This book is hard to read as a result of descriptions of torturous slave owners. Frederick Douglass shows that Christian slave owners were just as cruel as non–Christianslave owners though they use the bible to defend their actions. Douglass describes that some of his slave owners claimed to be Christians. Captain Thomas Auld was one of these men. Auld was a cruel man he once tied up a young slave girl named Henny and whipped her until she bled out and died. He used this passage of scripture to justify his actions, "He that knoweth his master's will, and doeth it not, shall be beaten with many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Covey. Mr. Covey was titled as a slave breaker which is a person who makes slaves obey or suffer the consequences. He would whip slaves viciously then hold church services where he would make Douglass lead hymns. He also hired a married man named Samuel Harrison to commit adultery with one of his slave women to obtain children who would later become Covey's slaves. If he knew anything about the Bible he would know how sinful this was. Non–Christian slave owners where just as cruel and unjust as Christian slave owners. One of these men as described by Douglass was a man named Captain Anthony. Douglass describes a horrific experience involving his Aunt Hester. Anthony would take Hester during the night and whipped her until her body was covered in blood. Douglass states, "The harder she screamed the harder he whipped." This is an example of Anthony's extreme barbarity. Austin Gore was a non–Christian overseer of Douglass and his fellow slaves. Gore was a harsh man. One day as he whipped a slave named Demby, Demby ran into a lake to cool off his wounds. In return Mr. Gore took hold of his rifle and ordered Demby to retreat from the lake on the count of three or he would shoot him. • 44. Technology Is A Good And Negative Effects Of Technology Technologies are purely objects and we are the ones who control them; the ones who can give them either a good or bad purpose. At this point in time however, the amount of negative uses for most technologies are increasing. People have become very trustworthy of technology and have kept sensitive information and even hidden some things from others, but some people have found ways to retrieve this information and use it. Since people use technology so much, many have quickly become addicted to it and it can be a distraction that's hard to get away from. Although technology has uses related to helping others and finding information, anything from a laptop to a phone can be used to bully others and finding out who's behind the bullying isn't always easy. There are many ways to store information, a majority of them being on technologies. Although, this is very useful, it's not always safe, especially on the internet. Nowadays, there are a lot more people "hacking" and spreading "viruses" which can steal information and destroy devices. Despite this, a lot of trust is put into these devices because people don't always know that their information has been compromised or taken. Even when a site with many members has been affected, it's not always spread to those members and causes problems. Not only is it hard to figure out if you've been hacked or if there is a virus in your device, but it is hard to find the person behind everything. Even if you do find the person, they often cover their tracks and cannot be found guilty. There are a few cases, like one that's quite recent at the time this was written involving a man helping to hack Yahoo, where people are caught. However, he was caught only because of how open all of his social media accounts were. By following links that were connected to his name, he was eventually caught. Another thing that hastened and created a larger importance for this, was the large scale of the effects. This is a rare occurrence, though and took a lot of time. Anonymity is also a huge problem when it comes to bullying. The Internet can be used to connect people, but not always in a beneficial way. Just as there is bullying in our everyday lives, there is bullying online. Many people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
