2. Magazine Idea
For the magazine review part of the
coursework, Harry and I have decided to do
a single page of a magazine reviewing our
documentary. As I did a magazine for my
coursework last year, I have some
knowledge of magazine format conventions
and experience in writing articles.
However, having never created a magazine
film review, it is necessary to look at real
examples for inspiration.
3. I can see from this film review that the name of the film is at the top, along with the year
of the release in brackets. The review opens with a short summary of the cast, director,
production company, length and rating represented by stars. There are 3 pictures – 2 are
screen shots from the film and the other is the poster. There is a significant quote from the
article highlighted in the yellow box.
4. This film review also has the production company and director at the top left, as well as the
country of release and certificate. There is one large picture and two paragraphs of writing.
The picture has a caption in red, as the general colour scheme for the page is black white and
red – this even largely applies to the image.
5. I can see in this article that the same colour scheme rule applies – the name of the film is
in the same colour as the box highlighting an important quote from the text and the
pictures are black and white which matches the purple.
