   Target audience- 16-25 year olds
   Style/attitude- expressive, individual
This indie rock magazine offers an insight into new and old
artists that are favourites to our target audience around the
world. The audience to the magazine will have an interest into
this genre and a wide knowledge of the stories that each issue
will contain regarding various bands and up coming festivals.
From looking at my questionnaire results I could see that some
of my participants showed to chose to dress in an indie style
which could be a connotation to the sort of music they listen to
being of the same genre.
I chose to put the cost of each issue at £2.35 as I
believe that pricing the magazine any higher for
example at £2.50 would put the audience off
buying the magazine especially when my target
audience is teenagers who may be on a low
budget due to student costs that they are paying
at that time.
Other magazines such as Kerrang! price their
magazines at around £2.75 so pricing mine lower
than this will attract a wider audience and gain
popularity right away.
I have chosen this colour scheme for my issue as black
was very popular within my questionnaire so I believe
that its therefore suited to my audience. The red will
stand out to the readers and attract people into buying
the magazine due to the eye catching colour on the
front. The white will play a part in a more simple
background or colouring of font over the darker pictures
or solid fill backgrounds when used within the front
cover or main magazine features.
My target audience is the ages of and between 16-
20 year olds, the reason I have set my target
audience at this age range is because the type of
genre of music that is going to be involved within
my magazine is mostly liked by this age range.
Teenagers are big fans of indie rock music and to
back this up, many answered the Indie genre as
their favourite type of music. As a result, I think
that it is most sensible to set my age range at this
specific group to get the most purchases.
The style and attitude of my magazine will be of a expressive and
individual setting, as the music genre ‘Indie/rock’ is known as the
music that is very expressionist it makes sense to make the style and
attitude of my magazine fit the genre of music. Also, the ‘Indie/rock’
genre of music also has connotations of artists that have a lot of gigs
and appear at a lot of festivals, many of these artists if not all play the
guitar or drums. These instruments are most commonly used by
people with a lot of passion for music and instruments and therefore
the way that they play the instrument expresses the way they feel
and is then reflected within the crowd at gigs and festivals. As well,
this genre of music is very individual and unique hence the name
‘Indie’ short for individual. From this knowledge, it is sensible to
make my magazine appear very unique and includes bands/artists
with a unique style so that it will appeal to my audience.
