3. SCOPE OF WORK
The client requirement is stress analysis of hydro test
failure chilled water piping inside the tunnel that include
all existing supports, ancillaries, loads, pre-applied forces
and the like needed to examine and resolve the loads.
OBSERVATION
•Due to high load impact on anchor in previous support
configuration
•It fails to withstand the maximum load experienced by the
•Bellow thrust force + thermal force + friction force on ANCHOR
.
5. CONSERVE SOLUTION
•In this case limit rod has controlled the bellow not to expand
fully so there was no failure in the bellow.
•Now it has been checked for max forces and moment for both
supply and return line and is found to be safe.
•Limit rods are designed to absorb the pressure thrust of the
expansion joint in case of anchor failure.
•This recommendation is strongly accepted and it is advised to
loosen the limit rod to max bellow allowable movement.
