 The first image is Facebook, this is
 implemented in the music video.
 This is conventional in this music
 video’s genre because it’s pop rock
 mainstream and Facebook is vast
 mainstream. Therefore Facebook is
 highly recognizable by vast majority
 of the public which is engaging for
 them. This is especially true for the
 younger audience which we are
 aiming for.

Second photo. Is band of band members
getting ready. At this point they are
picking out their clothes for the night.
We also them them happy and excited.
This gives of a good vibrant atmosphere
which can can enjoy and be attracted
too. This is conventional to the song as
it’s a very ‘Feel Good’ music made to try
get people excited and happy like the
band members in the scene.

 In this one Dan (lead singer)
 is dancing. This being
 conventional as the song is a
 dance type song which you
 would expect to be played at
 parties. This also encourages
 people to dance and to get
 involved and feel engaged
 with the music. As the pic
 shows Dan engaging with the
 viewer.

Vodka Shots! This was incorporated
into the music video to match on
lyrics ‘Vodka or whisky, we got
everything you need’ This matches
as the bands downing vodka shots
showing that the really are doing
what they say in the song and gives a
visual presentation of what there
doing. This continues with the whole
them of party with the drinking and
engages the audience in a little bit of
fun especially with young adults 18–
24.

This picture is of Dan and I have chosen
this on to talk about Dan being the
main focus of the whole music video
and digipak. This is conventional as a
lot of bands biggest star persona
member is of the lead singer. This stays
true to the convention as there is close
up and shots of the singing through out
the production and he is the main
character in the narrative; this makes
him even more of a focus in the video.

Group doing their hair in a quad square
special effect. This is conventional to the
song as everyone always does their hair
before going out to a big party. This can be
recognized with the viewers and they can
relate to doing this themselves. It also is a
little humorous to what which is good for
this genre as it’s not a serious genre nor
song and it wants to have a little bit of
humor included in the video. The special
effect is also engaging for the viewer and is
conventional because bands in their music
video do have separate shots of
themselves and stick them altogether in
one shot.

The black and white footage in the
second half of the filming shows the
groups transformation. This is
conventional as professional music
videos always try to distinctively show
the transformation of something in this
case change of appearance from nerds to
cool kids. The black and white images
showing their new much cooler
appearance then before. This method to
show and represent the transformation
works and is a good conventional idea in
current music videos.

Video games were incorporate in are
music video in this case a highly
popular game which has got the same
name as a type of fish. This game is
highly popular amongst the target
audience and they can engage with it
as they probably play it themselves at
home or at least know what it looks
like. It’s conventional to the genre as
pop rock mainstream incorporate
mainstream images in their videos so
the masses can relate and this game
is very popular for youths and fits
with this song being about youths.
(technical problem with capture; sorry
for blur) This video shows the band
arriving at the party. This is conventional
with pop rock party genre as you see
the party location as you so do in many
other party genre songs. This sets the
scene for the viewer and although we
don’t actually show any of the actual
party to the viewer they can imagine it
in their heads which they can potentially
enjoy more as they can picture their
own perfect party.

Finally this picture shows an iphone 5
with a message from a supposed admirer
for Dan inviting him and his friends to a
party. This is conventional in this genre
and all genre’s in this day and age to use
modern media and technology to give
information to the viewer. Rather than
cutting the text in a black background
shot which would look cheesy and
viewers would not enjoy as much. This
technique is much more well flowing and
doesn’t break up the video as much. In
addition to the younger generations tend
to have the latest gadgets and phones so
this being conventional that Dan has one.

Connor's task 1

  • 1. Pic: 1 The first image is Facebook, this is implemented in the music video. This is conventional in this music video’s genre because it’s pop rock mainstream and Facebook is vast mainstream. Therefore Facebook is highly recognizable by vast majority of the public which is engaging for them. This is especially true for the younger audience which we are aiming for.
  • 2. Pic 2 Second photo. Is band of band members getting ready. At this point they are picking out their clothes for the night. We also them them happy and excited. This gives of a good vibrant atmosphere which can can enjoy and be attracted too. This is conventional to the song as it’s a very ‘Feel Good’ music made to try get people excited and happy like the band members in the scene.
  • 3. Pic 3 In this one Dan (lead singer) is dancing. This being conventional as the song is a dance type song which you would expect to be played at parties. This also encourages people to dance and to get involved and feel engaged with the music. As the pic shows Dan engaging with the viewer.
  • 4. Pic 4 Vodka Shots! This was incorporated into the music video to match on lyrics ‘Vodka or whisky, we got everything you need’ This matches as the bands downing vodka shots showing that the really are doing what they say in the song and gives a visual presentation of what there doing. This continues with the whole them of party with the drinking and engages the audience in a little bit of fun especially with young adults 18– 24.
  • 5. Pic 5 This picture is of Dan and I have chosen this on to talk about Dan being the main focus of the whole music video and digipak. This is conventional as a lot of bands biggest star persona member is of the lead singer. This stays true to the convention as there is close up and shots of the singing through out the production and he is the main character in the narrative; this makes him even more of a focus in the video.
  • 6. Pic 6 Group doing their hair in a quad square special effect. This is conventional to the song as everyone always does their hair before going out to a big party. This can be recognized with the viewers and they can relate to doing this themselves. It also is a little humorous to what which is good for this genre as it’s not a serious genre nor song and it wants to have a little bit of humor included in the video. The special effect is also engaging for the viewer and is conventional because bands in their music video do have separate shots of themselves and stick them altogether in one shot.
  • 7. Pic 7 The black and white footage in the second half of the filming shows the groups transformation. This is conventional as professional music videos always try to distinctively show the transformation of something in this case change of appearance from nerds to cool kids. The black and white images showing their new much cooler appearance then before. This method to show and represent the transformation works and is a good conventional idea in current music videos.
  • 8. Pic 8 Video games were incorporate in are music video in this case a highly popular game which has got the same name as a type of fish. This game is highly popular amongst the target audience and they can engage with it as they probably play it themselves at home or at least know what it looks like. It’s conventional to the genre as pop rock mainstream incorporate mainstream images in their videos so the masses can relate and this game is very popular for youths and fits with this song being about youths.
  • 9. (technical problem with capture; sorry for blur) This video shows the band arriving at the party. This is conventional with pop rock party genre as you see the party location as you so do in many other party genre songs. This sets the scene for the viewer and although we don’t actually show any of the actual party to the viewer they can imagine it in their heads which they can potentially enjoy more as they can picture their own perfect party.
  • 10. Pic 10 Finally this picture shows an iphone 5 with a message from a supposed admirer for Dan inviting him and his friends to a party. This is conventional in this genre and all genre’s in this day and age to use modern media and technology to give information to the viewer. Rather than cutting the text in a black background shot which would look cheesy and viewers would not enjoy as much. This technique is much more well flowing and doesn’t break up the video as much. In addition to the younger generations tend to have the latest gadgets and phones so this being conventional that Dan has one.
