2. DO YOU KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE?
Who is your
audience?
What do they
know about the
subject you are
discussing?
Use visuals
readers /audience
notice them more
Visuals make a
great impact on
what you are
talking about and
they keep the
audiences
attention
3. I LEARNED TO FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING
GUIDELINES IN WRITING ANALYSIS
Clear
“Analysis of the topic is clear. Focus is narrow and specific.”
Concise
“Identifies and defines all important concepts of the topic in a
concise manner.”
Complete
“Provides complete analysis of the topic explaining connections
between ideas and giving specific examples to support the thesis.”
Correct
“Shows strong command of the conventions of language and
formatting, with few errors. All of the directions to the assignment
are followed.”
Courteous
“Writer has considered the needs and wants of the readers in the
analysis. All of the directions have been followed."
4. THE WRITING PROCESS
AUDIENCE IS MOST IMPORTANT
1. Most important knowing who your audience is
and to keep them in mind to keep them
interested.
Write ethically meaning take responsibility for
what is written or said. Say what you mean mean
what you say.
If you don’t know your audience you can make
assumptions that they know something that they
don’t.
5. AUDIENCE
I SPECIFICALLY LEARNED FROM AA1 ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT
The assignment was a based on an analysis of a
video of flight attendants rapping the in flight
instructions to passengers vs the read over
intercom while the attendant pointed.
The flight attendants rap instructions assumed
that passengers had flown before and several
instructions such as safety procedures were not
clear to first time flyers.
This was a great example of knowing the
audience and making a flight either fun for
seasoned flyer or scary for first time flyers.
6. KNOWING THE AUDIENCE MATTERS:
Effective
Knowing the audience
Audience will
understand your
message and
communications is
clear.
It prevents
misunderstandings
such as you talk above
the audience by using
big words.
Ineffective
not knowing the audience
Speaking in a way
that can be taken out
of context.
Assuming the
audience knows more
about the topic you
are discussing and
skimming over it.
7. WHY DOES IT MATTER?
Every single one of us, even the most
knowledgeable, can have problems getting inside
somebody else's shoes. Audience mindfulness is
one of the main secrets to effective writing.
You need to explain words and ideas that your
audiences can understand or your writing will be
unsuccessful.
When you write you want to take into account
your audiences reasons for reading it and interest
in it.
Being clear, concise , complete, correct and
courteous rules help give you guideline to follow.
8. I learned an assortment of writing
techniques and standards to influence my
future writing.
I learned how to read, edit and compose
documents better from peer reviews.
I also learned to be consistent and concise
and to be courteous in all forms of writing.
9. I can learn a lot if I am willing to take criticism
and having my work critiqued
to be a better communicator
Understanding that criticism isn’t personal but a
way to learn.
I will put myself out there and try whether I am
good at whatever it is or not.
It is never to late to learn
