Middle Ages Art and Music Pertinence to Literature Essay...
Middle Ages Art and Music Pertinence to Literature
Medieval Times directly follow the period of the Dark Ages. The Dark Ages are recalled as
unwieldy times. After the Dark Ages, the Middle Ages raised themselves up against odds to be a
time of elegance and class. Not only was the sophistication of the age can be seen being altered in
the specific expressions of music and art. The art and music within the Middle Ages brought
sophistication, elegance, refinement, and new ideas into the world through beauty, love, and
warriors, which all are applied in Sir Thomas Mallory's novel of Le Morte D'Arthur through the
sacred and secular world.
The music within the era begins by mirroring the religious outlook on the medieval world. The

It does not matter what type of celebration it is; it could be a celebration of love, of victory, or
religious praise. This all is illustrated in Le Morte D'Arthur.
In Le Morte D'Arhtur, courtly love becomes evident through Queen Qwynevere and Sir Lancelot.
Their relationship is filled with desperate romance. Lancelot hangs on every last word she utters. All
she must do is ask, and Lancelot would give to her whatever she wished for with the words, "My
Lady it shall be done!" (Malory 472). Courtly love mimics the true love Queen Qwynevere and Sir
Lancelot had acquired. Courtly love is a notion of nobly and chivalrously expressing love and
admiration. Sir Lancelot could not refrain from his infatuation with the queen, "In spite of his
longing and travail in matters of the spirit, Sir Lancelot knew that he was bound to his earthly love
for the queen" (Malory 449). Courtly love paradoxically is descried as a spiritual attachment. That is
contradicting because of idea of courtly love was not traditionally practiced between a husband and
a wife. Being as the Catholic Church was the primary source of religion present this is adultery.
Lancelot and Queen Qwynevere consequently remembered for their open love affair. Religion did
not play a major role in the story of King Arthur, but direct parts of the tales of King Arthur are said
to come from straight from medieval music.
The art upholds the standards of elegance. The slew of various techniques of art in the Middle

Pasado Presente, Futuro Essay
'Pasado, Presente, Futuro II' Analysis
'Pasado, Presente, Futuro II' by Anna Razumovskaya is a painting that I saw in the Little Red
Gallery. It is a hand embellished painting measuring 20 x 30 inches. In this essay I will be analysing
this piece and looking into the context of the painting. I also want to find out where Anna
Razumovskaya finds her inspiration for her art. When I saw it inspired me because
Anna Razumovskaya a figurative painter, born during the height of the cold war and exposed to two
different worlds, the sophistication and femininity of her mother, who was a fashion conscious
person, mixed with the rigid communist regime. Her mother instilled a fascination in fashion within
Razumovskaya which she has carried through her own life and harnessed in her work. She mainly
paints women dancing in fashionable gowns, dancers in movement with fabric flowing or women
playing instruments.

Razaumovskaya might have gotten her inspiration to include the multiple perspectives from
Cubism. It looks as it is the same figure just shown at different angles so the viewer gets to see the
whole of the model and not just the face. It allows the viewer to see the alluringness of the woman
and the demure and elegance she radiates. The colour scheme to this painting suggests
sophistication and wealth and gives the painting an overview of power suggesting the woman is in
control of her elegance, she also shows it in the positions she is depicted in.
The name of the painting translates to past, present and future, and the name could link to the three
figures that are painted. The left one could symbolise the past as she is looking behind her. The right
figure would represent the future as she is looking ahead of herself looking for what is coming next,
and the woman in the middle is facing the viewer represent the present showing what is happening

The Monticello: The Houses Of The Neoclassical Era
One of the most recognizable and influential buildings of the Neoclassical era, had to be the house
of Thomas Jefferson, the Monticello. First before you can understand why this building is so
influential to the Neoclassical period, we need to first understand, what is meant when you say
"Neoclassical" and what separates it from its preceding period, the Baroque era. The prefix Neo–
means new so it means that in front of classical, that would mean "the new classical" period. This
like the name says is a revival of the classical period which was highlighted by humanism, and
elegance, but a less extravagant elegance. This is in opposition to the "Baroque" period that was
highlighted by more extravagant colors, and designs that were more in

The Elegance Of The Hedgehog Analysis
Art has been around for many centuries and has helped us explain several events in history. Art is
appreciated all over the world and the importance of it will remain hopefully forever. In the novel
The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery, the idea of art is present. While Barbery has
many different arguments throughout her story, art is one of the major ones. The characters have
several life experiences that help the readers understand better what her over all point is. Barbery
argues in her book, that art is not just a painting; it is anything beautiful in life. Renée and Paloma
talk so highly about what art means with their thoughts and actions throughout the book. Barbery
starts off the book first introducing the first narrator, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She takes a closer look at art and questions it, "As if aroused from a dream, we watch ourselves in
action and, shocked to realize how much vitality is required simply to support our primitive
requirements, we wonder, bewildered, where Art fits in (Barbery 97). Then she goes on to mention
some dreadful things about debt and positions in society. Renee is question where art fits in, in all of
that. Renee says, "At times like this you desperately need Art" (Barbery 98). She is expressing that
through the hardships of life, you still need art. She seems to be giving advice she does not always
follow. Renee sees the importance in art and believes its beauty can bring light to life. She evens
mentions it could "rescue you" (Barbery 98). Renee proves she has a deeper connection to art and
knows how valuable it is in life. We see the importance of art again through Renee but this time she
talks about it in a difference sense. She says, "Art is life, playing to other rhythms" (Barbery 276).
Renee is saying basically art is everything in life and it plays to the rhythms. Barbery is giving
advice through the narrator and wants to emphasize again, the important role art plays. By Renee
mentioning life rhythms, this is something that most people would not normally see. Looking at art
this way is a deep thought that Barbery proposes to prove to her readers the over significance the
importance. Renee again shows a deep

A retail store. Promoter of youthful beauty. Often the place that girls as young as the age of 10 go to
looking for a solution to cover their insecurities and impurities. Alternatively, for some girls, it is a
gateway to heaven where all things cosmetics intertwine into one place: Sephora. Sephora, founded
in France by Dominique Mandonnaud, is owned by Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, two well known
fashion designers. With the owners of Sephora already having a reputation in the high end fashion
industry, it is no surprise they had to create Sephora with an image of elegance, beauty, and
creativity through its store design and careful selection of products and brands. The way the owners
and advertising management for Sephora contributes these decisions into their company reveals how
contemporary American culture focuses on aesthetics and promoting the idea of perfection and
flawlessness. Approaching the store, it is distinguishable amongst other stores it is surrounded by.
Its hint of red inside the store and black and white horizontal striped walls on the exterior, creates a
memorable image that can be identified by the majority of people. On a recent article written by
Marc Lortie on the architecture of Sephora, he claims that the use of those colors creates a
"luxurious" and "refined aura". The color choice of the store creates a sense of elegance and, in
agreement with Lortie, luxury as well. That image is being shown not only by the design of the

thoughts on this collection is that it bold yet calming to look at. Additionally, Paul Meltsner used
deep colors of blues, oranges, reds, and purple, however by using these colors with the characters
dancing, his piece is a creation of elegance. Personally, I think this collection stuck out to me
because it is an oil on canvas. To add, this art piece stuck out to me because I am a musical person

Functions Of Management At D ' Elegance Salon & Day Spa
Many organizations in today 's world are utilizing the four basic functions of management to operate
their business entity. The success of any business entity depends on how the four functions of
management are being used. These management functions allow an entity to handle its business
strategy, tactical and operational decisions. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the four functions
of management that D'Elegance Salon & Day Spa utilized in the following procedures: planning,
organizing, leading and controlling. Planning is the first management function and by far it is the
most important area of all the four functions of management. This step involves mapping out
exactly how to achieve a particular goal by an organization and within a specific time frame. During
the planning process, management evaluates both internal and external factors that affect the
business. At D' Elegance Salon & Day Spa, the owner also functions as the role of manager. Their
goal is to offer services that enhance the client's physical appearance and mental relaxation. On a

The Elegance Of The Hedgehog
A Mesmerizing Story Lost in Translation The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery,
Translated by Alison Anderson The Book A book can be judged by its cover, regardless of what
anyone says. In fact, this cover adequately represents what this book turned out to be: gorgeous, yet
an unfortunate, misguided, attempt at translating beauty. Take, for example, the minute details of the
girl on the cover: her feet are blurry and the girl herself has no resemblance to any character in the
book; and yet, the colours and title itself highlight beauty and simplicity. This is no fault on the part
of the author, but it certainly reflects on the book as a whole–there is an unfortunate trend within it
to be misaligned with the beauty the words, originally in French, must have been like. Instead, the
book's translation is anything but refined, and anything but what the whole book is about: beauty.
We are in an affluent neighbourhood in France, sometimes in the 2000's, surely. There lives several
affluent families catered by a concierge named Renée. On the fifth floor lives Paloma Josse,
inquisitive twelve year old extraordinaire. Life moves slowly. The Elegance of the Hedgehog starts
off simply enough: you are immediately thrown into the world of Karl Marx and a ramble on the
societal expectations of being a fifty–four year old concierge at a prestigious apartment full of
bourgeois families that simply cannot know that the woman, Renée Michel, is an autodidact–an

Advertising Critique Of Ralph Lauren Advertising
Ralph Lauren Advertising Critique
Advertisements, marketing, and other promotional efforts can make or break a brand, and what they
stand for. 'Ralph Lauren' has always embraced new ways of marketing, and advertising, yet never
compromises their core brand identity. Although their advertising varies throughout time, overall
this advertisement, and others are effective and consistent with brand image. Simplicity, elegance,
and clear intent is what makes this 'Ralph Lauren' advertisement effective and efficient.
Description
Five pages into the December 2017 issue of Vogue a bold 'Ralph Lauren' advertisement is found.
The advertisement featured is four pages in total, or two double truck ads back to back. The first two
page spread a red hand bag appears on the right, and on the left page a quote is present. Under the
quote 'Ralph Lauren' is typed out, and their website address is also found. The quote featured reads
"For me, luxury is a sensibility, and approach to life. It's personal style, quality and timeless
elegance." The quote in a sense explains the intent of the advertisement, as well as Ralph Lauren's
brand image. On the second double truck ad in in the spread, a simple red pump is found on the
right, and on the left the brand name 'Ralph Lauren' appears like how it did on the first two pages.
The most interesting, and intriguing aspect of the advertisement is the simplicity of the design, as
well as the bold pop of color.

Presently "defense" originates from the law courts. A man was charged under the watchful eye of a

Is Masculinity Defined Within The Comedy?
The Merriam–Webster dictionary defines the word Masculine as "Male: having qualities appropriate
to or usually associated with a man" (Merriam–Webster). While another source, the popular
comedic Urban Dictionary, presents a more satirical definition of the word Masculine, "Often
defined as aggressive, strong, and unfeeling or stoic. Being masculine means in modern times, at
least, no shows of emotion, no flamboyance, no hugging or even looking at other men, must be
interested in sports and physical/violent activity" (Urban Dictionary). Obviously the Urban
Dictionary is a comedic source and should not hold the same weight as the definition that comes
from the academic source of Merriam–Webster, but the truth that is within the comedy, the absurd
structure of what a man should be, is brought out into the light. A question many before us and
many after us have and will attempt to answer is how is masculinity defined? The unfortunately
anticlimactic answer to this is that masculinity is simply what a man chooses to do. In a world of
both gender inequity and rapidly shifting gender roles, the term masculinity is becoming more and
more simple in definition. In a video made by the Huffington Post to show how modern men
described the word masculine, most used dominant diction such as "power," "dominance," "strong,"
and "alpha" (Genuske). It wasn 't long ago when the word Presidential was synonym to masculine,

As I walked by a storefront, a woman in a picture caught my eye. She was stunning and was
wearing a black dress with dazzling jewels. She exhibited class and elegance, yet she seemed soft

that day, I've watched all of her movies and researched her life story. She became my inspiration,
and everyday I strive to be just as much of a woman as she was. Audrey Hepburn has had the most
significant influence on my life.
As a young girl she experienced first hand what it was like to go hungry. Audrey and her mother
struggled to survive when the Nazi's invaded Switzerland. During the resistance movement she
aided in passing along messages. After these events she continued to pursue a life of dancing and
acting and went on the star in many plays and movies. She was rich culture, being born in Belgium,

Companies use advertising to persuade the feelings of their buyers. This advertising gives the
viewers the feel of an alternate reality, rather than a simple use of a product. For example, looking at
Lincoln's official commercial for the MKX, it is clear to see that Lincoln is not trying to sell just a
car, they are trying to sell the experience. I believe that this commercial does a very good job at
portraying the attitude towards reaching a neutral crowd, and that Lincoln is trying to make their
viewers feel a sense of elegance of owning and driving the MKX. Starting out at the beginning of
the commercial, a man is seen walking in an updated sleek, modern house, where he is giving

J. Galsworthy. the Broken Boot
A Sample of Complex Stylistic Analysis J. Galsworthy. The Broken Boot (E.M. Zeltin et. Al.
English Graduation Course, 1972, pp.88–89: finishing with the words ".. .walked side by side.")
Text Interpretation The passage under analysis is taken from John Galsworthy's story "The Broken
Boot". It is about an actor whose name is Gilbert Caister. For six months he had been without a job
and a proper meal. He ran into a man whom he had come to know in a convalescent camp, a man
who thought a lot of him as an actor and was tremendously happy to see him again. To convey
Caister's state of mind on the noon when he "emerged" from his lodgings, the author brings into
play an abundance of expressive stylistic means and means of speech ... Show more content on

Titles of plays, such as "Educating Simon", "Gotta–Campus ", etc., add to the stylistic effect.
Caister's represented speech is a peculiar blend of bookish and colloquial elements. On the one
hand, there are no contracted forms in it, some sentences are rather lengthy and there are instances
of bookish words; on the other hand, it contains elliptical sentences (Ages since he had eaten a
lobster! Rather distinguished, perhaps...) and the vulgar intensifier damned. Colloquial elements
abound in the personages discourse –Caister and Bryce–Green's dialogue. Among them we find
contracted forms (aren't, haven't); interjections (By George, Jove, By God); colloquial words (What
sport we had..., here "sport" stands for the neutral "fun"; .. .you are going to have a feed, my boy!
"feed" replaces "meals"); elliptical sentences (Haven't seen you... Doing anything with yourself?).
All these elements serve to render the unofficial character of

Fred Astaires iImpact on the Great Depression Essay
Famous choreographer George Balanchine once said, "He is the most interesting, the most
inventive, the most elegant dancer of our times" and noted dancer Rudolph Nureyev also said, "He
was not just the best ballroom dancer, or tap dancer, he was simply the greatest, most imaginative,
dancer of our time." These famous dancers were referring to Fred Astaire, who has been known as
one of the greatest dancers of all time. His light, artistic joyful style of dancing has impacted dance
in an extremely unique way. Astaire used techniques in films as well as in dance that have shaped
society. Astaire was mostly prominent throughout the 1930s during the Great Depression.

When people danced or even just watched dance it provided them with a physical and psychological
energy that impassioned people and gave them optimism. Fred Astaire conveyed this inspiration and
hope during the Great Depression through his film and his dancing. Morris Dickstein, in his article
Facing the Music, states, "they gradually promoted dance into a plot device, enabling a bickering
couple to achieve not only perfect harmony but a rarefied ease and elegance, something missing
from the audience's encumbered lives". Astaire had a style that displayed elegance and class and
therefore reassured and inspired people. His films with Ginger Rogers especially helped to provide a
distinctly up–lifting spirit and harmony that was hard to convey during a time of great struggle. Fred
Astaire had a distinct dancing style– one of lightness and grace. Astaire himself describes his own
way of dancing in his autobiography Steps in Time; "I have no desire to prove anything by dancing.
I have never used it as an outlet or a means of expressing myself. I just dance. I just put my feet in
the air and move them around." Astaire never wanted to convey a dramatic emotion behind his
dance, he just wanted to move, to experience motion and this is one of the reasons that his dancing
style is so distinct and he created such a style of grace. Astaire's choreography is unique because he
took steps from ballroom dancing, tap dancing, and many other

How Victoria's Secret Entices Its Customers Into Buying
How Victoria's Secret Entices Its Customers Into Buying
In the retail industry, it has become important for retail outlets to sell more than just products. As
people seek to acquire the essential items and commodities in life, there is a tendency to identify
with certain outlets that signify distinctive qualities that reflect the lifestyle and interests of the
buyer. Retailers have recognized this fact and have embarked on a mission to make their outlets as
welcoming and accommodating as possible. This has involved investing in retail design to give the
outlets a desirable look and feel that will appeal to customers and make them regulars. Victoria's
Secret, the leading retailer of lingerie and women's beauty products, is one company that has made
such an investment and has increased sales through sensory design. Through its décor and design
choices, Victoria's Secret attracts women between the ages of eighteen and fifty with its atmosphere
of sexiness, elegance and romance.
One way that Victoria's Secret attracts its intended customers is through its sexy vibe. To achieve
this, the store displays a wide array of posters of models wearing the different kinds of merchandise
offered. The use of posters of models in bathing suits and lingerie entices customers into buying
these items because the models look alluring and attractive (Fenwick 1). When a customer walks
into the store, he or she sees the different posters on display and is immediately carried away by the

will focus on a corporate campaign (Cunard brand). This campaign will show the company
expertise, trustworthiness, and likeability with powerful visual appeal linked with a strong slogan
(ex: Cunard, the life experience). This approach may open the opportunity to link the attributes of
the brand (excellence and elegance) with a celebrity (ex: Cindy Crawford), allowing the audience to
remind the brand's name. Communication Channels
Mass Media: Advertising in mass media will be focused only in the corporate image (brand equity),
using the same visual appeal, but with a strong message and portraying different Cunard's ships,
places, food, and activities. The idea is to create desire in the audience's minds for the experience of
traveling in a Cunard's luxury cruise. Macro scheduling for seasons will drive the portraying of
advertisement in television and magazines, targeting those who have never been in a luxury cruise,
or those who never experience the elegance of a Cunard cruise.
Sales Promotion
Since 95% of consumers book their cruises through travel agents, sales and promotions will target
travel agencies. Cunard will offer better promotion discounts to travel agencies to stimulate the
preference for Cunard packages. Because 65% of the travelers pay full tickets, the agency can

The Elegance Of The Hedgehog Theme Essay
Muriel Barbery's The Elegance of the Hedgehog contains multiple themes and messages in the
novel. However, one of the most prevalent themes that are consistent in the novel is what the
meaning of life is and how it changes throughout the course of the novel through Renée and Paloma.
The both constantly ask this question throughout the novel. Paloma questions the validity of life,
whether it is worth it or not, while Renée questions why and how society defines the meaning of life
through the artificial structures of class. The meaning of life also brings in the question of how the
arts and intelligence comes into play. Both Paloma and Renée use these aspects in their lives, but
hide them because of societal pressures telling them how life should be lived. This constricts the
both of them living their life to their fullest potential. Barbery employs the symbolism of the
hedgehog to compare both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This only happens though once the cleaning van hits Renée and she knows that death is upon her.
She begins listing the most important people in her life in her head, and thinks how they have
changed her life for the good. One thing that she gets out of that is that the meaning of life is found
through relationships with other people, not through concealed abundance of knowledge. With that
thought and the answer to the meaning of life, she dies happy. Death is a part of life and she had
come to terms with it. For Paloma, after hearing the death of Renée, her thoughts on suicide
completely change, realizing how fragile life is and how meaningful it is. Renée's death shows
Paloma that the meaning of life comes through relationships as well, and that her relationship with
Renée was special. She realizes that love is also the meaning of life, and she only wishes to continue
on Renée's ideologies on life and to live and cherish her life for Renée, but most importantly,

The Pros And Cons Of Advertising
Advertising has been around for centuries, mostly beginning in the late 1800's and early 1900's. The
idea of advertising grew massively in the 1920's just after the end of World War I when the roaring
twenties had just begun and America was moving into a more progressive and modern era. As
described in "Part 1: Happiness Machines" in The Century of the Self, this period marked a rapid
increase in development of department store chains. Sigmund Freud's nephew, Edward Bernays, and
"father of public relations," was told to "produce the new type of custom," to advertise in a way that
would "appeal to the masses." The narrator goes into detail of how Bernays began to display
advertisements next to articles in publications in addition to paying celebrities to sell products by
promoting them as needs rather than wants. He then goes on to say how Bernays claimed to be the
"first person to tell car companies" that cars could be marketed to males as "symbols of male
sexuality." This was done by objectifying women to sell the cars and displaying cars to flaunt a
man's wealth and success. To this day, cars are considered to represent masculinity. Both methods of
marketing to a specific gender and using current celebrities for product endorsements are still
commonly seen today. Two print advertisements that show these methods are a watch ad of NFL star
quarterback, Tom Brady, in an ad for Tag Heuer and film actress, Kate Winslet, in a similar watch ad
for Longines. Although these

Imperial Elegance
Elegance in a Room In one of the central galleries within the Seattle Asian Art Museum rests an
exhibit titled Imperial Elegance. That room contains roughly twenty–one pieces from the Ming and
Qing Dynasties, most of these items are porcelain, few are wooden, such as a sculpture of Damo and
an imperial document box, but one is silk with embroidery of gold. The information panel in the
exhibit expressed that decorative art, such as ceramics, crafting in ivory, jade and precious metals
thrived during the Ming and Qing Dynasties and that during the 18th century the ceramics industry
perfected the porcelain bodies and developed new techniques of embellishment. Most of this being

This is not to say that these other art forms were not still being developed at that time. Though,
looking the what the ceramics were ornamented with, the shift to earthenware seems to carry over
some of the tradition of painting, calligraphy and poetry. Although, this gallery has little on the
transition itself and more on the well developed end result of the centuries of progression. Similar to
the comparison of the Dings from each part of the Zhou dynasty there is apparent development but
unlike the progression of the Ding there is no hint as to what the earthenware was before the Ming
Dynasty. There are some other prominent missing items from this gallery. The text panels, every
piece had one, everyone had the location, name and date of the piece, but most had little information
on the piece it stat next too, some just exclaimed who had donated the piece, not the meaning behind
anything or the significance of it in relation to the time period, now this may be because some of
these things have an apparent significance but I feel that that will be lost for people who know little
about what was significant during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Now because of this general lack, I
had little more insight into the significance into what lead to the development of things like blue and
white ware, and underglaze techniques. I am unsure if the curator intended this or if it was a hapless
byproduct. I wish that there had been some details focused on the pre–Ming developments, even
minor ones or just a brief overview of what the years prior and what they had done to make these
advancements. Not only that but, covering nearly 600 years of ceramic progress and improvement,
whilst throwing in some of other items not related to porcelain, this

What Is Black?
The color black is diverse in its way of being used in literature. In the book Black Coffee, black is
used to create an erie or suspicious mood in the environment. In the poem Time, Infinity, and
Eternity Descend upon a Black Derby Hat, black is used to show a level of hierarchy or elegance
amongst the characters. In the Beatles song Blackbird, black is used to represent an obstacle in
someone's life. Overall, black is used to stage an effect of creating a mood of grief along with the
ability to show class in the book, poem, and song. Black is used as an effect to establish the eerie
setting of the plot in Black Coffee. Black produces a mental photograph where it establishes an eerie
setting. To establish a sense of mystery, Poirot initiates the question, ""During those moments of
darkness," asked Poirot "did you hear the sound of the dress tearing?""(151). The second use of
black is to show higher class which can be represented by the cup of Black Coffee in which Sir
Claude drinks before his death. Sir Claude is a sophisticated scientist who is wealthy due to a

Persuasive Essay On Oak Doors
Why You Should Choose Oak Doors
When it comes to doors, both internal or external, oak is the best option. Oak doors provide optimal
levels of security, privacy, insulation, and elegance. They are the best way to balance functionality
and beauty.
Security and Privacy
External oak doors provide high levels of security and privacy. They keep intruders out and
maintain your family's privacy. Oak doors are known for providing security because of how solid
they are, making it difficult for intruders to enter your home.
Additionally, they help keep your home private because the wood material is non–transparent and
even when combined with glass, the glass is usually glazed. For optimum security and privacy from
outsiders, oak doors are your go–to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oak doors are also highly energy efficiency because they provide excellent insulation. External oak
doors help keep your interior temperature stable, which can help reduce energy bills. The benefits
are also true for internal oak doors, which are designed to help keep individual rooms properly
insulated. Insulation is particularly important in the UK to help cope with weather conditions.
The insulation provided by oak doors is not limited to temperature. Oak doors provide insulation
that also reduces noise, which is a major benefit. Noise can cause stress and create a tense
environment. Fortunately, oak doors keep all noise at a minimum, whether it's from outside or
inside. On days you need peace and relaxation, you will be most grateful for the quietness oak doors
can provide.
Elegance and Style
Compared to other doors, oak doors offer a sense of elegance and style. They are remarkably
exquisite and superiorly crafted. Since doors are a piece of decor and compliment the theme of your
home, their style and finish matter. Oak doors are timeless beauties, making your home come alive.
External and internal oak doors can completely transform and revitalize your home. Both traditional
and contemporary oak doors are available online and easy to

Names In Shakespeare's Twelfth Night
Winfried Schleiner argues about the significance of names in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night,
specifically those of the main characters, Viola and Orsino. Schleiner argues that the names chosen
for each character specifically in Twelfth Night, but also outside pieces, are always chosen with a
purpose or reason. He argues that the names of the characters tend to display a hidden message or
help to further develop the themes and tones of a particular piece. Looking more specifically at
Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, evidently, the play displays a romantic melancholic mood as Viola is
unable to pursue her feelings of love, and Orsino's way of being is captivated by the idea of being or
having someone to love. Schleiner first discusses the background behind Orsino's name, there is an
importance to this order as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schleiner deepens his analysis by considering the background behind little bear in some cultures:
"the bear is animal vere melancholicum... a truly melancholic animal." (Schleiner, 1). The use of
melancholy through Orsino makes it easy to argue that the selection of a name such as Orsino, with
such direct correlations to melancholy, was one made purposely. Schleiner also points out ways in
which the name Viola is flawlessly chosen to work with and further develop the characters around
her. He discusses the Latin translation of 'Viola', which is "violet". Schleiner considers the use of
violets in the renaissance period in relation to melancholy: "... in the Renaissance violets were
generally considered a medication against melancholy." (Schleiner, 2). Shakespeare's work supports
and confirms these ideas through his keen and consistent sense of melancholy throughout the whole
of Twelfth Night. Referring to the quote noted above, and countless others present in Schleiner's
piece, the inclusion of medicinal evidence and proof of the uses of violets in antiquity make the
argument being posed quite

Middle Ages Art And Music Pertinence To Literature Essay...

  • 1. Middle Ages Art and Music Pertinence to Literature Essay... Middle Ages Art and Music Pertinence to Literature Medieval Times directly follow the period of the Dark Ages. The Dark Ages are recalled as unwieldy times. After the Dark Ages, the Middle Ages raised themselves up against odds to be a time of elegance and class. Not only was the sophistication of the age can be seen being altered in the specific expressions of music and art. The art and music within the Middle Ages brought sophistication, elegance, refinement, and new ideas into the world through beauty, love, and warriors, which all are applied in Sir Thomas Mallory's novel of Le Morte D'Arthur through the sacred and secular world. The music within the era begins by mirroring the religious outlook on the medieval world. The prime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It does not matter what type of celebration it is; it could be a celebration of love, of victory, or religious praise. This all is illustrated in Le Morte D'Arthur. In Le Morte D'Arhtur, courtly love becomes evident through Queen Qwynevere and Sir Lancelot. Their relationship is filled with desperate romance. Lancelot hangs on every last word she utters. All she must do is ask, and Lancelot would give to her whatever she wished for with the words, "My Lady it shall be done!" (Malory 472). Courtly love mimics the true love Queen Qwynevere and Sir Lancelot had acquired. Courtly love is a notion of nobly and chivalrously expressing love and admiration. Sir Lancelot could not refrain from his infatuation with the queen, "In spite of his longing and travail in matters of the spirit, Sir Lancelot knew that he was bound to his earthly love for the queen" (Malory 449). Courtly love paradoxically is descried as a spiritual attachment. That is contradicting because of idea of courtly love was not traditionally practiced between a husband and a wife. Being as the Catholic Church was the primary source of religion present this is adultery. Lancelot and Queen Qwynevere consequently remembered for their open love affair. Religion did not play a major role in the story of King Arthur, but direct parts of the tales of King Arthur are said to come from straight from medieval music. The art upholds the standards of elegance. The slew of various techniques of art in the Middle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a hand embellished painting measuring 20 x 30 inches. In this essay I will be analysing this piece and looking into the context of the painting. I also want to find out where Anna Razumovskaya finds her inspiration for her art. When I saw it inspired me because Anna Razumovskaya a figurative painter, born during the height of the cold war and exposed to two different worlds, the sophistication and femininity of her mother, who was a fashion conscious person, mixed with the rigid communist regime. Her mother instilled a fascination in fashion within Razumovskaya which she has carried through her own life and harnessed in her work. It looks as it is the same figure just shown at different angles so the viewer gets to see the whole of the model and not just the face. It allows the viewer to see the alluringness of the woman and the demure and elegance she radiates. The colour scheme to this painting suggests sophistication and wealth and gives the painting an overview of power suggesting the woman is in control of her elegance, she also shows it in the positions she is depicted in. The name of the painting translates to past, present and future, and the name could link to the three figures that are painted. The left one could symbolise the past as she is looking behind her. The right figure would represent the future as she is looking ahead of herself looking for what is coming next, and the woman in the middle is facing the viewer represent the present showing what is happening in the ... Often the place that girls as young as the age of 10 go to looking for a solution to cover their insecurities and impurities. Alternatively, for some girls, it is a gateway to heaven where all things cosmetics intertwine into one place: Sephora. Sephora, founded in France by Dominique Mandonnaud, is owned by Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, two well known fashion designers. With the owners of Sephora already having a reputation in the high end fashion industry, it is no surprise they had to create Sephora with an image of elegance, beauty, and creativity through its store design and careful selection of products and brands. • 15. The Elegance Of The Hedgehog A Mesmerizing Story Lost in Translation The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery, Translated by Alison Anderson The Book A book can be judged by its cover, regardless of what anyone says. In fact, this cover adequately represents what this book turned out to be: gorgeous, yet an unfortunate, misguided, attempt at translating beauty. Take, for example, the minute details of the girl on the cover: her feet are blurry and the girl herself has no resemblance to any character in the book; and yet, the colours and title itself highlight beauty and simplicity. This is no fault on the part of the author, but it certainly reflects on the book as a whole–there is an unfortunate trend within it to be misaligned with the beauty the words, originally in French, must have been like. Instead, the book's translation is anything but refined, and anything but what the whole book is about: beauty. We are in an affluent neighbourhood in France, sometimes in the 2000's, surely. There lives several affluent families catered by a concierge named Renée. On the fifth floor lives Paloma Josse, inquisitive twelve year old extraordinaire. Life moves slowly. The Elegance of the Hedgehog starts off simply enough: you are immediately thrown into the world of Karl Marx and a ramble on the societal expectations of being a fifty–four year old concierge at a prestigious apartment full of bourgeois families that simply cannot know that the woman, Renée Michel, is an autodidact–an enthusiast of ... The first two page spread a red hand bag appears on the right, and on the left page a quote is present. Under the quote 'Ralph Lauren' is typed out, and their website address is also found. The quote featured reads "For me, luxury is a sensibility, and approach to life. It's personal style, quality and timeless elegance." The quote in a sense explains the intent of the advertisement, as well as Ralph Lauren's brand image. On the second double truck ad in in the spread, a simple red pump is found on the right, and on the left the brand name 'Ralph Lauren' appears like how it did on the first two pages. Michael Li 2015/05/01 The Great Gatsby Upon entering the Buchanans' home, Nick's description of the setting inside paints a picture of elegance. But his attention wasn't caught by that fantasy paint at all. When Nick describes the Buchanan's home he uses white a lot. In literature, white are often used for goodness and relaxing. And the purpose of the language he uses are all for creating the type of atmosphere. Nick describes parts of the room with white multiple times in the passage. It seems like Nick prefers to waste much more ink on the objects inside than the house. Again both of the two women in the house are wearing white. Right away, Nick's description of the woman who is a stranger to him places the women on a pedestal above himself when he says "She was extended full length at her end of the divan, completely motionless and with her chin raised a little as if she were balancing something on it which was quite likely to fall." Nick implies that his presence is undeserving of her focus, and her acknowledgement of him would result in loss of the non–existent balancing. This undeserving feeling that Nick feels became obviously clear when he says "I was almost surprised into murmuring an apology for having disturbed her by coming in." Even after Nick is introduced and welcomed by his sister Daisy, the stranger, now introduced as Ms. Baker by Daisy is still paying very little attention to Nick and infrequently speaks words like "unobtrusively and with a bantering inconsequence." Nick's description to this woman serves to exemplify the lifestyle of the Buchanan's home. The classic lack of interest, lack of proper acknowledgement, and laid back appearance are characteristics of typical rich people who see themselves as more pure. No matter how distracting Ms. Baker's actions are to Nick, Daisy is nothing of the sort. • 21. Is Masculinity Defined Within The Comedy? The Merriam–Webster dictionary defines the word Masculine as "Male: having qualities appropriate to or usually associated with a man" (Merriam–Webster). While another source, the popular comedic Urban Dictionary, presents a more satirical definition of the word Masculine, "Often defined as aggressive, strong, and unfeeling or stoic. Being masculine means in modern times, at least, no shows of emotion, no flamboyance, no hugging or even looking at other men, must be interested in sports and physical/violent activity" (Urban Dictionary). Obviously the Urban Dictionary is a comedic source and should not hold the same weight as the definition that comes from the academic source of Merriam–Webster, but the truth that is within the comedy, the absurd structure of what a man should be, is brought out into the light. A question many before us and many after us have and will attempt to answer is how is masculinity defined? The unfortunately anticlimactic answer to this is that masculinity is simply what a man chooses to do. In a world of both gender inequity and rapidly shifting gender roles, the term masculinity is becoming more and more simple in definition. In a video made by the Huffington Post to show how modern men described the word masculine, most used dominant diction such as "power," "dominance," "strong," and "alpha" (Genuske). Fred Astaire conveyed this inspiration and hope during the Great Depression through his film and his dancing. Astaire had a style that displayed elegance and class and therefore reassured and inspired people. His films with Ginger Rogers especially helped to provide a distinctly up–lifting spirit and harmony that was hard to convey during a time of great struggle. The both constantly ask this question throughout the novel. Paloma questions the validity of life, whether it is worth it or not, while Renée questions why and how society defines the meaning of life through the artificial structures of class. • 35. The Pros And Cons Of Advertising Advertising has been around for centuries, mostly beginning in the late 1800's and early 1900's. The idea of advertising grew massively in the 1920's just after the end of World War I when the roaring twenties had just begun and America was moving into a more progressive and modern era. As described in "Part 1: Happiness Machines" in The Century of the Self, this period marked a rapid increase in development of department store chains. Sigmund Freud's nephew, Edward Bernays, and "father of public relations," was told to "produce the new type of custom," to advertise in a way that would "appeal to the masses." The narrator goes into detail of how Bernays began to display advertisements next to articles in publications in addition to paying celebrities to sell products by promoting them as needs rather than wants. He then goes on to say how Bernays claimed to be the "first person to tell car companies" that cars could be marketed to males as "symbols of male sexuality." This was done by objectifying women to sell the cars and displaying cars to flaunt a man's wealth and success. To this day, cars are considered to represent masculinity. Both methods of marketing to a specific gender and using current celebrities for product endorsements are still commonly seen today. Two print advertisements that show these methods are a watch ad of NFL star quarterback, Tom Brady, in an ad for Tag Heuer and film actress, Kate Winslet, in a similar watch ad for Longines. • 36. Imperial Elegance Elegance in a Room In one of the central galleries within the Seattle Asian Art Museum rests an exhibit titled Imperial Elegance. That room contains roughly twenty–one pieces from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, most of these items are porcelain, few are wooden, such as a sculpture of Damo and an imperial document box, but one is silk with embroidery of gold. The information panel in the exhibit expressed that decorative art, such as ceramics, crafting in ivory, jade and precious metals thrived during the Ming and Qing Dynasties and that during the 18th century the ceramics industry perfected the porcelain bodies and developed new techniques of embellishment. Most of this being done at Jingdezhen. The story that seems to be being told is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is not to say that these other art forms were not still being developed at that time. Though, looking the what the ceramics were ornamented with, the shift to earthenware seems to carry over some of the tradition of painting, calligraphy and poetry. Although, this gallery has little on the transition itself and more on the well developed end result of the centuries of progression. Similar to the comparison of the Dings from each part of the Zhou dynasty there is apparent development but unlike the progression of the Ding there is no hint as to what the earthenware was before the Ming Dynasty. There are some other prominent missing items from this gallery. The text panels, every piece had one, everyone had the location, name and date of the piece, but most had little information on the piece it stat next too, some just exclaimed who had donated the piece, not the meaning behind anything or the significance of it in relation to the time period, now this may be because some of these things have an apparent significance but I feel that that will be lost for people who know little about what was significant during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Now because of this general lack, I had little more insight into the significance into what lead to the development of things like blue and white ware, and underglaze techniques. I am unsure if the curator intended this or if it was a hapless byproduct. I wish that there had been some details focused on the pre–Ming developments, even minor ones or just a brief overview of what the years prior and what they had done to make these advancements. Not only that but, covering nearly 600 years of ceramic progress and improvement, whilst throwing in some of other items not related to porcelain, this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Beatles song Blackbird, black is used to represent an obstacle in someone's life. Black is used as an effect to establish the eerie setting of the plot in Black Coffee. Black produces a mental photograph where it establishes an eerie setting. To establish a sense of mystery, Poirot initiates the question, ""During those moments of darkness," asked Poirot "did you hear the sound of the dress tearing?""(151). The second use of black is to show higher class which can be represented by the cup of Black Coffee in which Sir Claude drinks before his death. At first Bodenheim uses the Black Hat to establish the main character as elegant, "The black derby hat is an outline of Earth, Bold and Abrupt, remaining indifferent"(1). The story is different at the end of the poem as Bodenheim uses the black hat as a cover up to the characters "Playboy" status through, "The black derby hat flaunts itself upon the head of an ametuer libertine"(1). • 39. Names In Shakespeare's Twelfth Night Winfried Schleiner argues about the significance of names in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, specifically those of the main characters, Viola and Orsino. Schleiner argues that the names chosen for each character specifically in Twelfth Night, but also outside pieces, are always chosen with a purpose or reason. He argues that the names of the characters tend to display a hidden message or help to further develop the themes and tones of a particular piece. Looking more specifically at Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, evidently, the play displays a romantic melancholic mood as Viola is unable to pursue her feelings of love, and Orsino's way of being is captivated by the idea of being or having someone to love. Schleiner first discusses the background behind Orsino's name, there is an importance to this order as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schleiner deepens his analysis by considering the background behind little bear in some cultures: "the bear is animal vere melancholicum... a truly melancholic animal." (Schleiner, 1). The use of melancholy through Orsino makes it easy to argue that the selection of a name such as Orsino, with such direct correlations to melancholy, was one made purposely. Schleiner also points out ways in which the name Viola is flawlessly chosen to work with and further develop the characters around her. He discusses the Latin translation of 'Viola', which is "violet". Schleiner considers the use of violets in the renaissance period in relation to melancholy: "... in the Renaissance violets were generally considered a medication against melancholy." (Schleiner, 2). Shakespeare's work supports and confirms these ideas through his keen and consistent sense of melancholy throughout the whole of Twelfth Night. Referring to the quote noted above, and countless others present in Schleiner's piece, the inclusion of medicinal evidence and proof of the uses of violets in antiquity make the argument being posed quite ...
