2. Burn tool
The burn tool darkens images, for example, If an image has “lense flare”
or a brighter background than I intended, this tool allowed me to darken
or “burn” it to how I intended it to be. It was simple to use and easy to find
on the tool bar and widely useful when constructing my music magazine,
especially for the thumbnail images for the “8 monstrous posters”
3. Dodge Tool
This was under the same tool option as “Burn” and essentially did the
opposite, brightening the chosen areas of the image. This was helpful in
making certain elements of my images stand out from the rest. For
example, the two artists from the background in one of the poster
thumbnail images.
4. Removing a background (Magic
Wand Tool)
When placing in my masthead and contents title, I found that the white
background was present and this was not suitable for my magazine as
they were being placed onto other images. I got around this by using the
magic wand tool, this allowed me to select certain areas of an image all
at once and simply delete them, to then ensure that they remained clear
in the background I had to save them as a PNG file.
5. Creating layers
When working on some images, I had to add multiple layers so that I
could enhance and change different elements in the image without
effecting other elements. This was easily done from the toolbar below
where the layers are displayed on the screen
