Empathy Map
Say
1st week at work … physically not used
to the working timeline;
How to balance “professional” with
“personal tags”?
Lots of classmates are uncertain
about “dreams” vs. “reality”…families
give a lot pressure
Quite curious about what jobs to
pursue in the future
Asked friends, families for advice, their
answers confused her
Do
Being quiet at the office;
Doing a intern job which seems not
her “like” type;
Quite doubt about “be professional” or
“objective” told by the boss during
internship
Ask for advice from me about job
choosing
Very energetic when talking about the
things she likes to do
Apply the tools school career coach to
know what jobs to pursue
Think
Those physical environment can be
easily improved…such as working
timeline, job info. gather, job interview
etc.
Know what she doesn’t like to do as a
job
We should looking for jobs suitable for
us, which may not show great interest
in.
We shall not follow others when most
people choose to study abroad.
Feel
Really stuck and frustrated when
being asked what kinds of jobs are
suitable;
Confused at others’ advice
Envy on those who have clear pictures
Excited when talking or doing things
she likes

Problem Statement
Insights:
• Interviewees don’t worry too much about work environment behavior, performance
etc.
• Ways to look for jobs are easy to get nowadays
• Interviewees are more uncertain about what jobs to pursue at the current stage than
how to look for the job.
• Interviewees know the guideline on how to know themselves and look for a job they’re
really suitable.
The student needs a way to directly tell them what
jobs they’re most suitable for because they’re really
confused by all the surroundings.
