Respondent/Company Quotes
R1/A "BIM can reduce time consuming errors and rework, accessible from virtually anywhere at
any time by all projects stockholders and actionable to help informed you decision making with
simulation and analysis by means better communication flow. It can improve the accuracy of a
design. So, in other words, it can improve the visualisation. It can track and monitor the progress."
R2/B "By using BIM, of course is improve the design and a project can be easily monitored and
tracking the progress schedule. It could also maximise the resources while minimising errors. It can
be used to countercheck whether the building is designed according to standards."

4.3.6 Usage Rate of BIM among Developers in Malaysia
BIM had been introduced in Malaysia since 2007. There are many pioneer projects undertaken to
show the benefit of using BIM. Table 4.12 shows the respondent's opinion on the usage rate of BIM
among developers in Malaysia.
Table 4.12:
Respondent Quotes
R1 "The numbers of projects using BIM in Malaysia is really very low. However the awareness of
BIM is growing."
R2 "Our company is one of the pioneer, and in Malaysia, the usage rate of BIM is low. Many do not
understand on what BIM actually is."
R3 "The usage of BIM is still very low. Even when some companies said that they uses BIM, but in
reality, they are not using BIM."
All three respondents agreed that the usage of BIM in Malaysian Construction Industry is low. This
is because the understanding of BIM in developers are still low. Many companies only defined BIM
as a 3D model. Their concept of BIM only stops at the design stage. Even though, CIDB had made
many initiatives to promote BIM, developers are still reluctant to implement

Statement Of Purpose In Environmental Engineering
"Our history begins before we are born. We represent the hereditary influences of our race and our
ancestors virtually live in us" – James Nasmyth (Engineer, Inventor)
My vehement desire to be an engineer was obvious – I was born in a family of engineers. My great
grandfather, Hazura S Birdi was the 1st Indian electrical engineer in America. Thereafter, my
grandfather was a machinist and my father is a civil engineer; Perhaps, my fascination towards
science and technology is hereditary. Following their footsteps, I decided to become an engineer.
Since childhood, I had a keen interest in technology. My eagerness to grasp new concepts and topics
has been a noteworthy characteristic about me and it helped to broaden my horizons greatly. When I
was just in 7th grade, I used AUTOCAD to make the model of a house, in ... Show more content on

Many of them were quite interesting, but Environmental Engineering particularly captured my
interest. The module was taught by the head of my department – Sandeep Singla, who himself has
done Master's in environmental engineering. He was my torch–bearer and under his tutelage, I
became aware of the significance of this subject. Environmental engineering is basically the blend
of engineering and science principles to refine the natural environment which is the immediate need
of modern world. With the advancement of industries and technology, the pollution is on the incline.
Ergo, I decided to choose environment as a major, owing to my desire to contribute something
beautiful to the world. Not only this, but the enormous scope and its extensive application potential
also fascinated me. The craving to learn more about the subject persuaded me to take elective course
in 'Advanced Environment engineering'. 'A' grade in Environmental education in both the semesters

today from decades ago, and why?
Decades ago people built their own custom engines for their games and now instead of creating

Senior Project Essay: The Four Choices
Senior Project essay
Of the four available choices for a senior project, I chose self–development. I wanted to challenge
myself and see how well I could plan and complete a time–consuming project. In order to achieve
this goal, I delved into 3dmodeling and design. After getting comfortable with 3dmodeling I decided
to create a chess board. I enjoy playing chess equally as much as I love working with computers.
This project was a married combination of my two favorite things. I was inspired to pursue
3dmodelling from many of the past (and recent) engineering classes I had taken. In the past, I took

completed my chess board I decided that it was time to find a mentor. I felt the best candidate for
my mentor was Ephraim Nikoi (an associate professor of Creative arts at University of Wisconsin–
Superior). I chose Ephraim as my mentor because my project involved the creation of a product and
the selling and marketing of said product. Ephraim had completed many years of studying creative
arts and communication art. "Communication arts focuses on the many ways that people
communicate with each other. This includes broad journalism, advertising, digital media and
performing arts" (in text citation). He was the perfect candidate to be my mentor. By having
Ephraim as my mentor I learned to create a detailed plan to effectively market my product. This plan
included who my target audience was (a student body of 1,500 students), my means of advertising

Fayol’s Management Theory Is Still Relevant Today.
Introduction Henri Fayol's theory was almost a century old and was originally written in French.
Further review on several journal articles has led to an overview background of Fayol's working life
which provided the foundation that conceptualized his theory. According to Wren (2001), Fayol was
appointed as the Director in a mining company, Decazeville, where he succeeded to turnaround the
company to become profitable. Fayol was the first person to classify the functions of a manager's
job. Fayol (1949; as cited in Wren, 2001) identified five key functions in managerial works.as
planning, organising, command, coordination and control. Planning consists of any managerial work
that involves setting goals and coordinating actions to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These human resources will be managed by managers as depicted by Fayol (1949; as cited in Wren,
2001). Employees with specific area of expertise will be tasked to act on the set goals and plans. For
example, Autodesk managers and human resource staff will profile potential candidates on their skill
sets and job scope. Companies go across borders in search of new market opportunities and in turn,
have to focus on increased productivity as competition intensifies. Organization structure and job
design are carefully selected by managers to ensure that work are coordinated well with less hurdles
to achieve the established goals in the planning process (Wren, 2001). In the Autodesk's Sales
department, the structure is similar to a family tree where the Sales Managers coordinates the works
of the Resellers and report to the Sales Director who is in–charge of the department. According to
Mintzberg (1980, as cited in Bartol et al, 2011), Fayol's leading function for managerial work is
categorized under the interpersonal role of any managers. With effective leadership in place,
managers can direct and redirect employees through effective communication and use of discipline
and remuneration. This is one of the key to stay on top of the organisation goals and strategies that
have been planned. Thus, the command element of getting the optimum return from all employees in
the interest of the whole concern is critical and applicable. For example, under

Components Of Integrated Project Delivery
What is Integrated Project Design?
There are many different business structures in place which businesses around the world are using
today. One of these business structures, used in the design and construction industry, is called
Integrated Project Delivery. Integrated Project Delivery is a business style which incorporates all
aspects of design throughout the entire design process. This includes, but is not limited to, all
participants, business coordination's, and business systems, and the way they interact with the
specialties of the participants, in turn producing fluidity within the design and a highly effective
final product. The main players within IPD are owners, architect, contractors, designers, sub–
contractors, consultants and suppliers.
Collaboration is key within Integrated Project Delivery (4). In order to create this type of building
structure all parties involved must be willing to collaborate. When this happens the result creates an
open, shared business model where no information is hidden or lost in communication. This lessens
the instance of becoming fragmented and disconnected. Early involvement of all participants from
owner to supplier produces a mutual understanding of the goal and outcome of the design and leaves
everyone with an equal understanding of the project. At this point in IPD mutual trust can be gained
as well as mutual benefit while understanding everyone's role in the process. Team building is
another major part of IPD. Under each main

Statement For The Three Forms Of Visual Art
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
"There are three forms of Visual Art. Painting is art to look at, Sculpture is art you can walk around,
and Architecture is art you can walk through" – Dan Rice.
Since childhood, I have been very passionate about art may it be drawing apple in nursery class, my
first painting of sunrise and sunset scene in 1st standard or singing my own written song on the very
first day of college and being awarded as fresh talent in the university. I have always had a certain
kind of tilt towards art because of the fact that art creates things which is soothing to me, which
actually gives me relief. I use to find immense pleasure in painting, drawing, singing and writing but
at that time I didn't knew what I wanted to be, but in my late childhood whenever I was asked what I
wanted to be my answer used to be a painter. However in high school I opted for non–medical rather
than arts. These two years of high school and learning science didn't gave me pleasure which
brought me to a firm decision that I will not opt for science further rather I will follow my passion.
Fortunately my parents also noticed my passion about art and they encouraged me further to unleash
my creativity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Relationships Among Bim, Ipd, And Lean Construction
Relationships among BIM, IPD, and Lean Construction
In general, IPD, Lean, or BIM is a particularly new controversial phenomenon in the construction
industry that generates many debates and discussions around each component's advantages and
disadvantages, effectiveness, and potential risks (Guerra, 2010). As BIM's complementary
connection to IPD, there are numerous questions regarding requirements of using BIM in IPD–based
projects. Like BIM–IPD considerations, is Lean construction really necessary for every IPD–related
project or only enforced by the project team favor? Interestingly, many construction professionals
question that whether or not IPD can implement without the use of BIM as well as Lean principles.
One step at a time, these inquiries are still exploring by experts and analysts whereas attempting
efforts of combining those three elements in construction projects are currently promoted as
dominant worldwide tendencies. Thus, interdependent corporations of ILB need to be carefully
evaluated in order to flawlessly synergy them in real world cases. Specific partnerships for each
combination of two factors will be subsequently revealed and examined in next section. Figure 2.1
points out the MacLeamy Curve for construction phases and costs through perspectives of
Construction Users Roundtable (CURT, 2004). As mentioned above, IPD, Lean construction, and
BIM not only remarkable share numerous mutual characteristics and common goals in quality, cost,

An Insight Into Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality is a creation of a highly interactive computer based multimedia environment in
which the user becomes a participant with the computer in a "virtually real" world1
We are living in an era characterized by 3D virtual systems created by computer graphics. In the
concept called Virtual Reality (VR), the virtual reality engineer is combining computer, video,
image–processing, and sensor technologies so that a human can enter into and react with spaces
generated by computer graphics.
In 1969–70, a MIT scientist went to the University of Utah, where he began to work with vector
generated graphics. He built a see–through helmet that used television screens and half–silvered ...

Virtual reality engineers are space makers, to a certain degree they create space for people to play
around in.3 A space maker sets up a world for an audience to act directly within, and not just so the
audience can imagine they are experiencing a reality, but so they can experience it directly. "The
film maker says, 'Look, I'll show you.' The space maker says, 'Here, I'll help you discover.' However,
what will the space maker help us discover?"4
"Are virtual reality systems going to serve as supplements to our lives, or will individuals so
miserable in their daily existence find an obsessive refuge in a preferred cyberspace? What is going
to be included, deleted, reformed, and revised? Will virtual reality systems be used as a means of
breaking down cultural, racial, and gender barriers between individuals and thus nurture human
values?"5
During this century, responsive technologies are moving even closer to us, becoming the standard
interface through which we gain much of our experience. The ultimate result of living in a
cybernetic world may create an artificial global city. Instead of a global village, virtual reality may
create a global city, the distinction being that the city contains enough people for groups to form
affiliations, in which individuals from different cultures meet together in the same space of virtual
reality. The city might be laid out according to a three dimensional environment that dictates the

Summary: Motoresk Autodesk Inventor
The design was created using Autodesk Inventor 2018. We started by measuring the lengths and the
taper of the guitar neck. We then created the base of our design (Figure 1) which is 0.125 inches
thick in a trapezoidal shape. It has a height of 6.250 inches with base lengths of 1.87 inches nearest
the knut of the guitar together with 1.93 inches at the end of the 5th fret. We printed two of these to
be the top and bottom platforms of our design. The printing was done at a medium infill to make it
more structurally sound than our last prototype. Additionally, medium infill permits sanding off
printer imperfections. We offset the holes within each fret so they could be double the diameter than
if they were in a straight line. This gives more surface area of the button for contact with the finger,
spreading impact more equally through the finger in preference of directly impacting the joints. ...

There are 30 buttons total. They are cylindrical with a filleted edge to reduce time spent sanding.
The buttons were created to have the maximum diameter possible considering the spacing between
the guitar strings, so the button ended with a diameter of 4/10 of an inch. The height of the cylinders
was created with the consideration of how long the button needed to be to press the string down
while still being short enough to be comfortable to press. It was decided that 9/10 of an inch tall was
an appropriate height for the button to be at. They each will have a small spring wrapped around
them which allows the button to pop back up after being pressed down. Printing was done at a very
high infill because the buttons absorb the most stress in our device and they need to be able to last as
long as the rest of the device. The high infill also helped the sanding process, which was lengthy
because of 3D printer imperfections and the need for a button to be able to move through the holes
without creating

Building Information Model ( Fm ) Maintenance And...
Introduction: To start with, this self–reflection is consisted of two parts, the first part is majorly
related to the lecture experience that help me redefine the Building Information Model (BIM). While
the second part is about the experience and knowledge that enhance my knowledge about the BIM
enable services provided for Facility Management (FM) maintenance and operation. Originally, the
concept of BIM is more related to a geometric model provided by the specific software platform, in
which the most of the information is provided by the building designers, such as: architects and
engineers. However, throughout this module, the concept of BIM, in my mind, is totally redefined
and renewed. How BIM really is: After listened to the lectures give by lecturers and other guest
lecturers, I realized that the BIM is not just a specific software platform. Firstly, In my opinion, BIM
is not longer an generation of stochastic in building consultant, it is caused by the needs of
construction industry revolution. After reviewing the background history of the construction
industry for last decades in lectures, it is recognized a significant productivity decrease in the
construction industry (lily lecture slides, intro, P7). It means there is an hurrying need to improve
the automation, information management, supply–chain management, and collaboration tools of the
AEC industry. Because, it has been proved by many scholars that there were many benefits and

Project Plan And Workflow For Complete The Final Video
Project Methodology:
In this chapter, I present the project plan and workflow I used to complete the final video. In the
last part I discuss other software programs used to accomplish other tasks in the post production
stage.
Production Workflow:
The process to complete the insertion of a CG into a life–footage is the same as a media production
workflow. The matchmoving process is part of an animation workflow which is part of the
production
workflow. To achieve the final footage there is need to incorporate inherit workflows together.
Video Production Workflow:
To create a film, the process need to follow the basis of the media production workflow.

I decided to combine the production workflow and the basic matchmoving workflow so as to
accommodate
changes during the project. In figure1 below it shows a basic animation production workflow with
the
corresponding video production stages and figure2 is a basic matchmove workflow with the
different
production stages. The incorporation of CG into a live footage involves a large scale of processes.
Figure 3: A basic Matchmove workflow showing production stages.
In a simple VFX scene, the animator is responsible for the 3D creation, a visual artist is
responsible for the composite and the key role is played by the matchmover who create the CG

from the real camera and ensure others have the generated CG scene to work with. The
matchmoving
usually happens early in the production workflow.

The current requirements for health and safety for CADD users who use Visual Display Units
(VDUs) for their work, is specified by the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment)
Regulations 1992. In this section of the assignment, I will identify some of the most common health
and safety concerns and specify the steps that employers and employees need to follow in order to
comply with the law and to work safely, including guidelines for workstations, work environment
and other equipment. Physiological Factors Affecting CADD Users VDUs is a term which
encompasses monitors, display screen equipment (DSEs) iPads etc; any screen (usually forming part
of a computer) that displays text, numerical data, or graphics. VDUs have been accused of causing a
whole range of health problems, but in general these health issues arise as a result of VDUs being
used incorrectly rather than the VDUs themselves. One of the most commonly reported health issues
relating to VDU usage is repetitive strain injury (RSI) however the cause is usually a more
generalised group of disorders known as 'upper limb disorders'. (Health and Safety Executive, 2011)
Many of the disorders affecting the upper body are exacerbated by stress that can be mitigated by
making some simple changes to the work environment. Firstly, ensuring that employees have
undertaken the correct training in how to use hardware, software and

The PM is the responsible of overall project success, in term of respecting budget, quality level,
timetable, organization strategy and satisfaction of clients (Sommerville, et al., 2010; Project
Management Institute, 2012).
Hence, the PM role includes all those necessary activities to deliver a successful project as
communication, organization, coordination, budget control, planning, decision–making, risk
analysis and project team building (Mintzberg, 1973; Project Management Body of Knowledge,
2009; Sommerville, et al., 2010).
However, in order to be performing, PM should develop a good balance between hard and soft
skills. Hard skills are based on the technical and scientific knowledge and they regard schedules of
procedure and project, as for example, economic analysis, risk analysis, value engineering and
contract administration (Garwood, 2012).
On the contrary, soft–skills refer to the personal and interpersonal skills, necessary to work in
organized community. Nowadays, they are becoming indispensable skills for success, due to they
are an essential tool to make hard skills operative, performing and competitive on the market
(Bourne & Walker, 1999; Cooke & Arzymanow, 2003; Pant & Baroudi, 2008; Garwood, 2012;
Mitchell, et al., 2010). For instance, communication results the most important soft skill for PM,

Why I Am A Computer Program
Whilst other children my age were out playing in the sun, I was indoors tinkering with an old
desktop I put together. The refurbished systems disposed of by were like treasures to me. Every
other day I would climb into the skips to find components I could use to upgrade my system. I
remember feeling ecstatic about the fact that I had literally built the system from scratch, installed
an operating system and could browse the internet using a dial–up CD provided by AOL. Given the
lack of security software at the time, it was not long before I was confronted by a virus. The start bar
had vanished and I could not control the mouse or keyboard, and upon every reboot, a daunting logo
image would be maximized, rendering my desktop useless. I was furious but also curious as to how
a person could create such a program. It wasn 't the malicious nature of the program itself which
sparked my curiosity, more so the fact that this individual had created something that did exactly as
they wanted. I decided I would attempt to find out how one can write a program and came across
Visual Basic 6 after a few yahoo searches. After writing my first Hello World program, I managed to
maximize an image on the desktop and disabled both mouse and keyboard input. I then had the
program run at start–up, recreating the initial behaviour of the virus. This motivated me to continue
learning through trial and error and after a year had passed, I felt proficient enough to not only

Designing A Carcase Table Using The Appropriate Woodwork...
Carcase Table Investigation
MYP Criteria A: Investigation
Harry Brown
Stuart House Mr. Riddell
Problem Statement
In this task I will design and create a carcase table using the appropriate woodwork skills. To
complete the task, the carcase table will be made out of wood and it will be designed according to
the specifications. First I will sketch and design my carcase table to make sure that it fits the right
specifications. Then I will construct it in the workshop using such machines as, the router, the drop
saw, and the band saw. Once it is constructed, it will be sanded to make sure it is nice and smooth
and it will be varnished with a particular finish. Once the carcase table is constructed and varnished
I will test it to see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many benefits of doing this project. I will learn how to use the different woodwork tools
and machines used to make wooden things like a carcase table. I may also learn about marketing and
how similar things can be produced and sold. I will learn some good life skills and I will know how
to construct wooden object using the different woodwork machines and tools.
To complete the task I will design my carcase table according to the correct specifications and
measurements. Once I have designed my carcase table I will create it in the workshop by first
cutting it out and gluing the appropriate pieces together. Once it is constructed I will sand it and put
a finish on it.
Existing Products
Description: A very modern Carcase table. It is very square and has curved legs. It would suit
someone with a modern life style.
Positives: It is very eye–catching, and appeals to the target audience. It enhances the décor and
would look great in a modern home. The rectangular top of this carcase table would be quite easy to
make.
Negatives: The legs are curved and would be quite hard to make. The legs would all have to be the
exact same in size and volume which would be extremely hard to do. The knob used to pull the draw
in and out is metal, which is not aloud.
Description: An older style carcase table. It has a round top and curved legs.

Investigating The Process Of Game Developers Use For Make...
For Research Project I have chosen to investigate the process that game developers use to make a
video game. Games have been around since 1951 when the first game Pong was invented, which
took to an international stage (Pong Story, 2013). Since then technology has evolved, which has
allowed game designers to make more sophisticated and technical games, which gives the players a
more realistic experience. What kind of software are used to make game? 'After designing the game
's concept, as well as the characters and environments; the next step is to make it digital', (Tim
Crosby, 2008). There are many software packages available for beginners to experienced designers.
Depending on how skilled a designer is; they are able to get software packages that range from drag
and drop functions to, software that will need coding skills to make the game. Most software
packages come with tools to make two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) games.
Software that you can use to make a 2D game. Software that can be used to make a 2D, which is
recommended, by both my secondary and primary source is Game Maker. Game Maker has many of
the tools that a game designer would need, all in the one software. It allows you design many
different types of games and has in built game engine. It also supports game development for
multiple platforms including Windows, Mac, Android, IOS, Windows Phone, HTML5, PlayStation
4 and Xbox One (YoYo Games, 2016) Software that you can use to make a 3D

Mitochondria Essay
The mitochondria's structure is very unique. Every mitochondria is shaped perfectly to help
productivity. It is made up of 3 main parts, The outer membrane, inner membrane, and a fluid called
the matrix. The outer membrane makes up the shell of the mitochondria which holds it all together.
The inner membrane is what folds over many times in side the mitochondria creating layered
structure called cristae. The final structure part is the matrix which is the fluid that creates the atp
and is located in the cristae.
The mitochondria serves a main purpose of creating ATP for the cell. ATP or adenosine triphosphate
which is used as energy throughout the cell. The matrix part of the cell is where the citric acid cycle
takes place, which is what makes ATP. The inner membrane keeps the matrix in place and allows the
ATP to channel through the mitochondria. The ATP created is then later used as chemical energy in
the rest of the cell. Essentially, the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.
Mitochondrion can be found in all organelles, prokaryotic or eukaryotic. Some cells such as red
blood cells have few mitochondrion but there is only 1 organelle known to not have a mitochondria.
Since the mitochondria's purpose is to create ATP. Most cells must have it.

How Can Bim Technology Assist in Optimising the Life Cycle...
Paper for the 16th Pacific Rim Real Estate Society Conference Wellington, New Zealand 24–27
January 2010. How can BIM Technology assist in optimising the Life Cycle Cost of a Building? By
Francis Pf Lai, Dulani Halvitigala, John Boon, Roger Birchmore Department of Construction,
Unitec New Zealand Abstract The complexity of a modern construction project, especially in a fast
track environment, necessities the use of Building Information Management (BIM) system to
manage such a project to provide the necessary probable cost outcomes of alternative designs ahead
of the actual construction times. The visualization of such alternative designs through 'prototyping'
design solutions has the definite advantage of identifying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The full Ecotect analysis is then applied to the design to capture the effects to the building over time
by simulated visualized outcomes in the form of 2D drawings representing the differing time spans
of the life of the building. The benefits of using BIM in modern construction project management
have been well recognized. Eastman et al (2008)[7], for instance, have described the use of BIM for
developing models that enable computational based analysis and simulation to be undertaken.
Soubra (2008)[8] has discussed the ability of BIM to model "comforts" including thermal, visual,
acoustic and air quality. Vaizidou (2007)[9] has highlighted the benefit of BIM's modelling
technique in using the x–y–z axes for representations of time line: project tasks: design outputs in
projects. The concept of the x–y–z axes, which will be discussed to a fuller detail later in this paper,
is of particular relevance as it illustrates the simple idea of representation of the outcomes from
Ecotect applications. The use of BIM techniques has therefore achieved widespread commercial use
in building designs. "The Contractors' Guide to BIM" published by The American General
Contractors Association[10] identifies BIM as a tool that enables the construction industry to: "more
efficiently operate in new and increasingly expeditious ways. Initially, BIM and 3D models have
primarily helped eliminate design conflicts with far

History Of NX : A Solid Modeling Program Created By Siemons
NX is a solid modeling program created by Siemons which is used by multiple companies around
the world and is deemed an industry standard. This semester was the first time I had heard of NX
and at first, I was a little weary as to how I would adjust to using it. I previously had only used
AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD, but due to NX's layout being extremely similar to that of
Inventor it made the transition very smooth. NX has some good inclusions when compared to other
solid modeling programs. One of my favorite features NX includes is the tool search feature. When I
can type in a general tool instead of searching through every menu, it saves a lot of time. Another
feature I truly like is that of the general layout and processes in NX ... Show more content on

Although NX has all of these positives aforementioned, there are some downfalls that Siemons
needs to address. Personally, when I used NX there were somethings that I wanted to do that just
would not happen. When I used the assembly portion, there were some constraints that the program
would just not allow for no apparent reason. Unlike Inventor there is no student edition. Meaning
that the only way that I as a student could use the program was to come to the engineering college to
complete the assignment. The assemblies were could be annoying. Sometimes I would place a part
and when I would go to constrain it the part would just disappear. Once you select a plane to begin
designing your part it is stuck there. In other programs, you are able to rotate the axis in which the
part rests. Along with the no rotating of axii you are unable to change the units. If you accidentally
start designing your part in inches you can no switch it to millimeters other than completely
restarting your part. As well as all of the problems mentioned, there are very few online tutorials.
There were times I would try and understand how to use a process through the book and just not
quite get it. I would then search the internet to try and better my understanding and was unable to do
so. Although the book does a great job at explaining the processes there are some errors that NX
would give me that I could not wrap my mind around. Overall, NX is a

Benefits Of Building Information Modeling Essay
5. Benefits of Building information modeling in Cost Estimation
The cost estimation is the crucial section in the construction industry and estimation of cost is done
depending on the number of labor, material, and the time conditions. The cost estimation is a time
taking process and it seeks the participation of entire cost estimator group.
For estimating the cost, BIM produces rapid cost feedback throughout the lifecycle of the building.
The model has the ability which enables the construction companies to evaluate the project cost with
in–depth and higher accuracy rates where it reduces the cost and the expenses required.
By taking the help from the engineer and the architect the BIM make the cost estimations accurate
and easy when developing the digital form.
The BIM has the capability which carry out the pricing and the quantity take–offs for the cost–
estimation and this is possible because it identifies the real material used in the construction process.
Sattinen and Bradford stated that that BIM is compatible with estimating software like Innovaya
composer, where the software converts the BIM files. It makes the files compatible with the
estimation software like Timberline and the quantity data (Sattineni & Bradford, n.d). The
Innovaya's visual BIM and quantification products make the cost estimator to imagine entire
building model in a 3D cost–oriented environment performs quantifications and finally adds up the
construction data. According to Thurairajah

The Need to Expand Monroe College it Department:...
Monroe College IT Department: Recommendations During this present time, the need to expand the
Monroe College IT Department is extremely exacerbated. The current offerings that this department
has are completely insufficient for any college campus. The multimedia room has an inadequate
number of computers and the ones which are there are only able to perform basic functions such as
using Microsoft word or comparable programs. Many of the computers have software applications
which are outdated by over seven years or more. The computers are slow and there are very few of
them, making wait times long and the entire experience very frustrating when it comes to using the
center. At this time, once the renovations are complete, there will be enough room to expand the
current size by 200% and add 100 computers. This will greatly benefit in expanding the number of
students that can be served each day. Computers Selected The media center should have a mix of
both Macs and PCs because both these different types of computers have distinctive benefits to offer
users. However, since this is indeed a multimedia center, there should be a greater number of Macs,
as Macs tend to be more conducive to a range of different programs and software applications. For
the purposes of this proposal, there should be a range of 70:30 of the new computers in Mac to PC.
Part of the reason why it's beneficial to have such a strong mix is that PCs are generally priced lower
than Macs and can help in

The Importance Of Innovation Architecture Essay
The Importance of Innovation Architecture
The Merriam–Webster dictionary defines innovation as "a new idea, method, or device" or "the
introduction of something new" (Merriam–Webster, 2016). "New" almost always means change,
which is a word that often strikes fear into the hearts of those who simply like to keep things as they
have always been. Companies who pursue innovation architecture must develop a culture of
innovation that is deeply embedded in its DNA. Otherwise, ideas will perish from malnourishment.
According to John Carter, of TCGen, the co–inventor of the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones,
"There is nothing more fragile, and at the same time more threatening as a radical new idea that does
not fit into the current culture" (Carter, 2013). This paper will discuss three companies that have
maintained a culture of innovation, some of the key elements that contribute to this and consider
conditions that exist within organizations that stifle innovation.
Innovation Successes
According to John Carter, "The key to unlocking the door to innovation is to develop a culture of
innovation. Without the right culture, no set of tools, methods, or people will be successful" (Carter,
2013). Three companies which are well–known for an effective culture of innovation are Microsoft,
Autodesk, and Whirlpool. Each of these companies has built a culture of innovation by, among other
things, creating an atmosphere in which innovation is celebrated, trained, and rewarded. Innovation

various different long–term investment tactics that a capital market analyst may practice. One
strategy they may exercise is investing in a stock and industry that their client comprehends. If the
client has no knowledge in the industry, it remains dangerous since they are not informed on what is
happening within the field. Another approach is to begin investing as early as possible; this allows
the money to have additional time to multiply. The other tactic is to diversify the investments. This
safeguards investors if one industry or the stock crashes; they ensure to not completely lose all of
the money they have invested. As of now, pharmaceuticals and 3D printing happen to be two
industries that remain appropriate for a long–term investment. There are several explanations why
the pharmaceutical industry is a popular long investment industry amid capital market analysts.

  • 3. Statement Of Purpose In Environmental Engineering "Our history begins before we are born. We represent the hereditary influences of our race and our ancestors virtually live in us" – James Nasmyth (Engineer, Inventor) My vehement desire to be an engineer was obvious – I was born in a family of engineers. My great grandfather, Hazura S Birdi was the 1st Indian electrical engineer in America. Thereafter, my grandfather was a machinist and my father is a civil engineer; Perhaps, my fascination towards science and technology is hereditary. Following their footsteps, I decided to become an engineer. Since childhood, I had a keen interest in technology. Environmental engineering is basically the blend of engineering and science principles to refine the natural environment which is the immediate need of modern world. With the advancement of industries and technology, the pollution is on the incline. Ergo, I decided to choose environment as a major, owing to my desire to contribute something beautiful to the world. Not only this, but the enormous scope and its extensive application potential also fascinated me. The craving to learn more about the subject persuaded me to take elective course in 'Advanced Environment engineering'. I wanted to challenge myself and see how well I could plan and complete a time–consuming project. In order to achieve this goal, I delved into 3dmodeling and design. After getting comfortable with 3dmodeling I decided to create a chess board. I enjoy playing chess equally as much as I love working with computers. This project was a married combination of my two favorite things. I was inspired to pursue 3dmodelling from many of the past (and recent) engineering classes I had taken. I chose Ephraim as my mentor because my project involved the creation of a product and the selling and marketing of said product. Ephraim had completed many years of studying creative arts and communication art. "Communication arts focuses on the many ways that people communicate with each other. This includes broad journalism, advertising, digital media and performing arts" (in text citation). He was the perfect candidate to be my mentor. By having Ephraim as my mentor I learned to create a detailed plan to effectively market my product. This plan included who my target audience was (a student body of 1,500 students), my means of advertising (the school newspaper and various social media sites), and how I planned to sell my chess board (online marketing through Amazon and possibly trying to get it into a ... • 10. Fayol’s Management Theory Is Still Relevant Today. Introduction Henri Fayol's theory was almost a century old and was originally written in French. Further review on several journal articles has led to an overview background of Fayol's working life which provided the foundation that conceptualized his theory. According to Wren (2001), Fayol was appointed as the Director in a mining company, Decazeville, where he succeeded to turnaround the company to become profitable. Fayol was the first person to classify the functions of a manager's job. These human resources will be managed by managers as depicted by Fayol (1949; as cited in Wren, 2001). Employees with specific area of expertise will be tasked to act on the set goals and plans. For example, Autodesk managers and human resource staff will profile potential candidates on their skill sets and job scope. Companies go across borders in search of new market opportunities and in turn, have to focus on increased productivity as competition intensifies. Organization structure and job design are carefully selected by managers to ensure that work are coordinated well with less hurdles to achieve the established goals in the planning process (Wren, 2001). In the Autodesk's Sales department, the structure is similar to a family tree where the Sales Managers coordinates the works of the Resellers and report to the Sales Director who is in–charge of the department. According to Mintzberg (1980, as cited in Bartol et al, 2011), Fayol's leading function for managerial work is categorized under the interpersonal role of any managers. With effective leadership in place, managers can direct and redirect employees through effective communication and use of discipline and remuneration. This is one of the key to stay on top of the organisation goals and strategies that have been planned. Thus, the command element of getting the optimum return from all employees in the interest of the whole concern is critical and applicable. For example, under ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Components Of Integrated Project Delivery What is Integrated Project Design? There are many different business structures in place which businesses around the world are using today. One of these business structures, used in the design and construction industry, is called Integrated Project Delivery. Integrated Project Delivery is a business style which incorporates all aspects of design throughout the entire design process. This includes, but is not limited to, all participants, business coordination's, and business systems, and the way they interact with the specialties of the participants, in turn producing fluidity within the design and a highly effective final product. The main players within IPD are owners, architect, contractors, designers, sub– contractors, consultants and suppliers. Collaboration is key within Integrated Project Delivery (4). In order to create this type of building structure all parties involved must be willing to collaborate. When this happens the result creates an open, shared business model where no information is hidden or lost in communication. This lessens the instance of becoming fragmented and disconnected. Early involvement of all participants from owner to supplier produces a mutual understanding of the goal and outcome of the design and leaves everyone with an equal understanding of the project. At this point in IPD mutual trust can be gained as well as mutual benefit while understanding everyone's role in the process. Team building is another major part of IPD. Under each main ... Painting is art to look at, Sculpture is art you can walk around, and Architecture is art you can walk through" – Dan Rice. Since childhood, I have been very passionate about art may it be drawing apple in nursery class, my first painting of sunrise and sunset scene in 1st standard or singing my own written song on the very first day of college and being awarded as fresh talent in the university. I have always had a certain kind of tilt towards art because of the fact that art creates things which is soothing to me, which actually gives me relief. I use to find immense pleasure in painting, drawing, singing and writing but at that time I didn't knew what I wanted to be, but in my late childhood whenever I was asked what I wanted to be my answer used to be a painter. However in high school I opted for non–medical rather than arts. • 16. Relationships Among Bim, Ipd, And Lean Construction Relationships among BIM, IPD, and Lean Construction In general, IPD, Lean, or BIM is a particularly new controversial phenomenon in the construction industry that generates many debates and discussions around each component's advantages and disadvantages, effectiveness, and potential risks (Guerra, 2010). As BIM's complementary connection to IPD, there are numerous questions regarding requirements of using BIM in IPD–based projects. Like BIM–IPD considerations, is Lean construction really necessary for every IPD–related project or only enforced by the project team favor? Interestingly, many construction professionals question that whether or not IPD can implement without the use of BIM as well as Lean principles. One step at a time, these inquiries are still exploring by experts and analysts whereas attempting efforts of combining those three elements in construction projects are currently promoted as dominant worldwide tendencies. Thus, interdependent corporations of ILB need to be carefully evaluated in order to flawlessly synergy them in real world cases. Specific partnerships for each combination of two factors will be subsequently revealed and examined in next section. Figure 2.1 points out the MacLeamy Curve for construction phases and costs through perspectives of Construction Users Roundtable (CURT, 2004). • 19. Summary: Motoresk Autodesk Inventor The design was created using Autodesk Inventor 2018. We started by measuring the lengths and the taper of the guitar neck. We then created the base of our design (Figure 1) which is 0.125 inches thick in a trapezoidal shape. It has a height of 6.250 inches with base lengths of 1.87 inches nearest the knut of the guitar together with 1.93 inches at the end of the 5th fret. We printed two of these to be the top and bottom platforms of our design. The printing was done at a medium infill to make it more structurally sound than our last prototype. Additionally, medium infill permits sanding off printer imperfections. We offset the holes within each fret so they could be double the diameter than if they were in a straight line. This gives more surface area of the button for contact with the finger, spreading impact more equally through the finger in preference of directly impacting the joints. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are 30 buttons total. They are cylindrical with a filleted edge to reduce time spent sanding. The buttons were created to have the maximum diameter possible considering the spacing between the guitar strings, so the button ended with a diameter of 4/10 of an inch. The height of the cylinders was created with the consideration of how long the button needed to be to press the string down while still being short enough to be comfortable to press. It was decided that 9/10 of an inch tall was an appropriate height for the button to be at. They each will have a small spring wrapped around them which allows the button to pop back up after being pressed down. Printing was done at a very high infill because the buttons absorb the most stress in our device and they need to be able to last as long as the rest of the device. The high infill also helped the sanding process, which was lengthy because of 3D printer imperfections and the need for a button to be able to move through the holes without creating ... • 30. Mitochondria Essay The mitochondria's structure is very unique. Every mitochondria is shaped perfectly to help productivity. It is made up of 3 main parts, The outer membrane, inner membrane, and a fluid called the matrix. The outer membrane makes up the shell of the mitochondria which holds it all together. The inner membrane is what folds over many times in side the mitochondria creating layered structure called cristae. The final structure part is the matrix which is the fluid that creates the atp and is located in the cristae. The mitochondria serves a main purpose of creating ATP for the cell. ATP or adenosine triphosphate which is used as energy throughout the cell. The matrix part of the cell is where the citric acid cycle takes place, which is what makes ATP. The inner membrane keeps the matrix in place and allows the ATP to channel through the mitochondria. The ATP created is then later used as chemical energy in the rest of the cell. Essentially, the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. Mitochondrion can be found in all organelles, prokaryotic or eukaryotic. How can BIM Technology assist in optimising the Life Cycle Cost of a Building? By Francis Pf Lai, Dulani Halvitigala, John Boon, Roger Birchmore Department of Construction, Unitec New Zealand Abstract The complexity of a modern construction project, especially in a fast track environment, necessities the use of Building Information Management (BIM) system to manage such a project to provide the necessary probable cost outcomes of alternative designs ahead of the actual construction times. The full Ecotect analysis is then applied to the design to capture the effects to the building over time by simulated visualized outcomes in the form of 2D drawings representing the differing time spans of the life of the building. The benefits of using BIM in modern construction project management have been well recognized. Eastman et al (2008)[7], for instance, have described the use of BIM for developing models that enable computational based analysis and simulation to be undertaken. Soubra (2008)[8] has discussed the ability of BIM to model "comforts" including thermal, visual, acoustic and air quality. Vaizidou (2007)[9] has highlighted the benefit of BIM's modelling technique in using the x–y–z axes for representations of time line: project tasks: design outputs in projects. The concept of the x–y–z axes, which will be discussed to a fuller detail later in this paper, is of particular relevance as it illustrates the simple idea of representation of the outcomes from Ecotect applications. The use of BIM techniques has therefore achieved widespread commercial use in building designs. Benefits of Building information modeling in Cost Estimation The cost estimation is the crucial section in the construction industry and estimation of cost is done depending on the number of labor, material, and the time conditions. The cost estimation is a time taking process and it seeks the participation of entire cost estimator group. For estimating the cost, BIM produces rapid cost feedback throughout the lifecycle of the building. The model has the ability which enables the construction companies to evaluate the project cost with in–depth and higher accuracy rates where it reduces the cost and the expenses required. By taking the help from the engineer and the architect the BIM make the cost estimations accurate and easy when developing the digital form. The BIM has the capability which carry out the pricing and the quantity take–offs for the cost– estimation and this is possible because it identifies the real material used in the construction process. Sattinen and Bradford stated that that BIM is compatible with estimating software like Innovaya composer, where the software converts the BIM files. It makes the files compatible with the estimation software like Timberline and the quantity data (Sattineni & Bradford, n.d). • 38. The Need to Expand Monroe College it Department:... Monroe College IT Department: Recommendations During this present time, the need to expand the Monroe College IT Department is extremely exacerbated. The current offerings that this department has are completely insufficient for any college campus. The multimedia room has an inadequate number of computers and the ones which are there are only able to perform basic functions such as using Microsoft word or comparable programs. Many of the computers have software applications which are outdated by over seven years or more. The computers are slow and there are very few of them, making wait times long and the entire experience very frustrating when it comes to using the center. At this time, once the renovations are complete, there will be enough room to expand the current size by 200% and add 100 computers. This will greatly benefit in expanding the number of students that can be served each day. Computers Selected The media center should have a mix of both Macs and PCs because both these different types of computers have distinctive benefits to offer users. However, since this is indeed a multimedia center, there should be a greater number of Macs, as Macs tend to be more conducive to a range of different programs and software applications. For the purposes of this proposal, there should be a range of 70:30 of the new computers in Mac to PC. Part of the reason why it's beneficial to have such a strong mix is that PCs are generally priced lower than Macs and can help in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Companies who pursue innovation architecture must develop a culture of innovation that is deeply embedded in its DNA. Otherwise, ideas will perish from malnourishment. According to John Carter, of TCGen, the co–inventor of the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones, "There is nothing more fragile, and at the same time more threatening as a radical new idea that does not fit into the current culture" (Carter, 2013). This paper will discuss three companies that have maintained a culture of innovation, some of the key elements that contribute to this and consider conditions that exist within organizations that stifle innovation.
