2. • Type of music video- the
music video focuses a lot
on the scenery and setting
and tells a story with the
characters. The artist is
not seen in the video
because I believe the
artist wants the viewer to
focus on the nature
instead of the artist. The video is stereotypical for an indie music
video for reasons such as the artist not
being in the video and the video being a
narrative.
3. Media language
• The camera work and editing is very slow to make the audience appreciate
and take in the scenery and acting. The sound is smooth and slow which is
complimented by the videos slow editing and camera work. The actors
have quite normal clothing which is relatable for the audience.
Target audience- the artist appeals/attracts a specific target audience with
the spiritual music video and smooth and relaxing music. The audience being
targeted is not mainstream so there will be less followers of the music but
they will appreciate the music as it is what they are looking for
5. Michael Jackson is a pop artist and in
the music video he has common codes
and conventions including an attractive
woman, dancing and the artist singing
the song. The video and music is
similar to a love song which is common
in the pop industry.
Representation- Michael Jackson
produced a stereotypical music video
for his genre of music and, however
the video is original as he put his on
twist in all of his videos with his
signature dance moves and style of
music.
6. Media language
• The camera angles change with the beat of the music, for example
when the dancers are moving together and clicking their fingers ,
after each click the angle changes in time which keeps a good rhythm
with the video and music and it feels natural to watch.
• The sound is very up beat and enjoyable for a wide range of
audiences which is what the music and video is intended to be for as
it is mainstream.
• The costumes are and props are from the 1980’s, this is obvious by
the way the way the characters are dressed and by the looks of the
streets and cars in the background.
7. Target audience
• the product appeals/attracts the target audience as the artist is
already an established pop artist and the song is from the album
“king of pop”. Pop being a well followed genre of music, it draws in a
large target audience. Michael Jackson was very famous at this time,
so any music he came out with would have been popular, so it wasn’t
just the genre of his music that got him his audience, his personality
got him a large fan base too.
